I (and I assume others) would like a mod that can erase the blocking mode notification icon in the status bar as well as the ongoing notification in the pull down menu. This is a wonderful feature by Samsung and improves upon CM's Quiet Mode by enabling specific groups or individuals to call and get through to you while you're sleeping. However, there is no need for that nagging icon. I've taken the time to set it up, i KNOW it's enabled Sammy! While searching, I've found this post on how to manually remove it on the S3 but not sure if that works on our ROM's. A flashable .zip would be appreciated by all I'm sure!
+1 on that, same goes for wifi calling. I don't mind the notification icons, but the panel gets filled up pretty quickly.

I've searched/read through a bunch of threads, and I guess this isn't a big deal to many people as I really haven't seen much discussion. I don't always like my notifications to have a sound or vibration aspect to them, so I'm curious about the current state of Galaxy Nexus/ICS visual notifications when the screen is on but the status bar is hidden.
I was disappointed to see Ice Cream Sandwich continue to prevent the notification LED from lighting up when the screen is on instead of the original Droid's initial behavior that kept the LED on with the screen on. I've glanced at a few custom ROM feature sheets, but haven't seen any notes on whether the option to keep the LED on while the screen is on has been introduced yet. For those who have been flashing ROMs, is this a feature in some/most of the stabler ROMs out there?
I'm also wondering if anyone has messed with trying to put notifications in the soft key area? Even with the status bar visible, it can be annoying to reach the top one-handed to swipe down... so full-screen or not, I think it would be pretty great to be able to have certain notifications pop up next to the back or multitasking soft key (even something as simple a block of color indicating mail, SMS, voice mail, etc.), and then be able to tap the notification to go to the app sending the notification.
I just use an SMS pop up app.. unfortunately text notify which IMO is the best at this doesn't work on ICS yet..

Thanks, that's a good point that I had previously discarded because I'm not a huge fan of pop-ups with dialog boxes. But this reminded me that Light Flow has pop-up notifications that I hadn't previously tried, and it turns out they're actually toast notifications (which are preferable to me). So that'll definitely do until CM or whoever lights up the LED with the screen on.
Hello! Just got the unlock version a couple days ago and I am using lightning launcher; it is awesome. My issue is with call and text notifications, how do I make the fire phone display that I have a new call/text or missed a call on the status bar. This is really frustrating, hope someone can help me.
I don't think this is possible without replacing the systemui file. The only other option would be to use omega status bar, or super status bar, which are basically status bar overlays.
So I did install omega status bar but it still wont show call or text notifications in the status bar. Can you tell me how to set it up? Even the app icon itself is not even showing that I have recieved a call or text.
I think you will benefit from reading the tips and tricks thread that's created. Member jondecker76 and myself branch out on a lot of helpful tips to use this as a daily device.

Problem - Notifications - The notification bar doesn't keep a log of icons of notifications. For example, if I get a KIK message it drops down, previews it, and vanished. Unless I open up the notification panel there is nothing to remind you of this. This bothers me as I often don't review them straight away and forget it even happened.
Solution- Notifications - I've toggled all the options regarding notifications in the settings. My original complaint still exists. This was a HUGE set back for me with this device. Luckily, with a lot of trial and error, I found an app that works well for me. It's call NotifierPro Free. I configured it so a bar drops down and stays under the status bar. I also configured it so these notifications remain until I swipe them away. This has been a HUGE help in allowing me to adapt to this device.

Running into the same issue, have you found a work around? I know this thread is old, hopefully the original poster will reply or someone else.
Hello people
I am facing the following issues in my phone which is running OxygenOS 3.2.1.
1. Push notifications not coming until the phone is unlocked again
2. Alert slider causing the phone to go completely silent.
To add to the misery I was using my wifi on 2.4 GHz band but when I tried to connect to 5GHz band it does not connect and the error shows wifi connection failure. All my other devices are connected successfully to this band even my 4 year old Nexus 4 but Oneplus 3 does not seem to connect for a single time
This is really becoming disappointed for me bow after push notification and alert slider issues.
The range of 2.4 GHz wifi is not even half of what my Nexus 4 used give me.
I am using ASUR WRT 68u router.
These are very basic features of a cellphone which are required on the very first moment.
I am Totally frustrated with this device as I can't use it for my daily life!!! I don't know if people in this forum are not having any such issues with their devices.
1. push notification can be blocked when the screen is locked (to avoid that other people can see SMS for example). In the "When device is locked" option, "show all notification content" should be selected if you want notification. Also the alert slider should be on the 3rd position, the position closed to the volume up button. If you want to use the middle slider position, you need to select some apps as priority apps for notification.
2. hmmm I think it's the purpose of the alert slider... especialy in the 1st position, the further to the volume up button.
It's strange you seems to misunderstand it as when you put in silent mode, it say "silent" on the screen. I put my phone in english to be sure, maybe the translation in your language is not accurate.
Anyway the slider mode can be customized in the alert slider options.
For wifi, it seems ok for me but I can't test 5GHz at the moment.
1. Not sure if I see this behaviour but if I do isn't botherimg me.
2. I know put slider to silent and it silences the phone, this is probably my favourite feature of the phone. Completely silence the phone without even taking it out of my pocket genius.
3. Sent on my 5ghz WiFi connection.

I think you misunderstood me. Here are your replies:
1. The push notification issue is a doze mode bug since the notifications do appear and the sound plays ok until the device enters into doze mode after which there is no notification and no connectivity maintained which causes the notifications to stop, once the phone is unlocked the notifications start to appear
2. Well I know the purpose of alert slider and I am talking about when the slider is is normal position i.e. downwards, sometimes the notification sounds disappear and there is complete silence, the slider has to be cycled again by moving upward then downward to fix the issue.
for the slider, wipe your phone completely, reset it in other words.
If your slider bug still there, contact oneplus customer service to replace your phone.
and your first problem seems to be related to the second one as it enter the silent mode on it's own.

I have completely wiped off the phone and installed 3.2.1 from the signed flashable zip... the wifi issue is still there
I will check and update about the first two issues if they're solved... I have contacted customer support but they have not provided a satisfactory response yet.
When I upgraded to 3.2.1, I had the same issues as stated above AS WELL AS an issue with VoLTE that forced me to disable LTE in order to have a decent phone call. I reverted back 3.1.2 until OnePlus gets these issues ironed out. Overall, 3.1.2 has been much better for me.
I have installed freedomOS from xda and stock ROM again.. wifi issue is resolved but push notification and alert slider issues still persist in freedomOS as well as stock ROM.. I don't have VoLTE feature here so can't test
About the random silence, did you restore apps and settings from old phonethat had automatic disturb profiles? If so, reset and do not restore...
I'm not experiencing any of these issues, only issue is the random turn off
I have the Note 8 on Verizon. Last week I received a software update to Oreo. Shows on phone as N950USQU3CRC2.
Excuse my terminology if I call something the wrong thing. I will attempt to be as detailed as possible.
I have several apps that put information into the status bar. This is what I call the bar at the top of the phone with the time and battery indicator, etc. I do not have a screen stand by, or lock or anything else. I push the button on the right to cut the screen on and off. All power saving features that I am aware of have been disabled.
Since the software update, some of information that used to stay permanently (persistent notification?) in the status bar would seem to be missing. When I pull down on the status bar to see all the notifications, I see the missing information, but now it seems to be minimized (compacted?). It has down arrows that I have to press to expand the information, then I actually have to open the app to get the information to go back to the status bar. After a short time the notifications disappear from the status bar again and I have to slide it down, expand with the arrow, open the app, etc. over and over.
It is very frustrating to have to do this all day long. Am I missing something? Is there a way to turn this minimization (compacting?) off so that all status bar info shows in the status bar all the time?
Hi I had this problem with one of my apps on Oreo. Go to Settings...Display....Status Bar. Make sure where it says show only 3 recent notifications is turned off. That should should hopefully help
Lrivera76, thanks for your reply. I checked where you referenced and it is turned off already. Interestingly enough, since about noon today, the three notifications I have been fighting with for the past few days have been staying on the status bar. The others that I do not care so much about are still staying minimized or compacted and I have to slide the notifications down to see them, but I do not really care if I see them or not. I began to wonder if the OS had some way of learning that I wanted these 3 left at the top because I kept reopening them over and over? I don't know. I wish there was an obvious way to just turn the minimizing thing off. We can already turn off a notification if we do not want it. What would be the purpose of leaving it on, but not see it. I don't get it.

I use the Navbar app and now with Oreo it stays on my pull-down menu as well. That didn't happen on Nouget. If you haven't tried, clear your cache partition and restart your phone. I was at the point where I was going to do a factory reset due to my battery not lasting the way it did but basically checking all my settings, notifications, displays, etc turning off things that where on when they weren't before saved me from having to do it. Give it a couple of days for the OS to settle if not you can do a factory reset to see if it gets rid of any issues.
Hi all -
Trying to see if this is normal behavior or a bug, but I have two notifications on my lock screen (Messages and Outlook). When I unlock the device, in the top left, I just see the clock and "AT&T". When I drag the status bar down, I see my messages and outlook notifications (they are not silent or minimized). Why would I want to see AT&T instead of these notifications? Is there an option I'm missing to remove the carrier info?
I'm having the same issue, you are not alone. I spent more than an hour going through every single setting, but found nothing on how to fix this issue.

Just to try and narrow the issue, are you also on an AT&T device?
Fair enough, my apologies.
I have Sprint, and this is happening on my Galaxy S20.

I think that is actually super helpful information. This appears to be a OneUI issue, rather than an android, carrier, or particular model issue. So it needs to somehow get reported to Samsung for a fix... Does anyone here know if there a public place where Samsung tracks bugs for these devices?
Or does anyone know a writer who would pick up this story for a media outlet to shine some light?
Just to try something, have you toggled the setting in status bar section that says show all notifications?
I'm taking about opening quick settings toggles, pressing the three dots menu and then status bar.
I hadn't tried that, no. However, I just did and that didn't change anything.
My wife has an S20 Ultra on AT&T, and she's seeing this as well. I know there's a way to request support or post your issue to the community in the Samsung Members app. I may try to do that from her phone later today.
I've had issues with app notifications and icon badges since the S8, they never seem to get them to work properly

UPDATE
I was using the trial for Sprint's Call Screener program. I turned it off earlier, and now I no longer see "Sprint" in the status bar. I see the icons like I should. I have no idea if that is what solved the problem or not, but I didn't receive an update today and that's the only thing I can remember changing.
Go to settings, display and change 'Full screen Apps' to Auto for all
I played with that setting. It didn't have an affect on the notification issue.

Vinsuja, that setting did not work for me, however you sent me on the right path. I have had this same issue with notification not showing. I found that the camera cut out setting is causing this. Go to settings > display > full screen apps > click 3 dots for advanced settings > turn on hide camera cutout. This adds a black bar at the top, but fixes the notification issue
Edit: You can turn the setting back off and notifications will appear. This seems to be an issue with the full screen UI
Try using QuickStar in Good Lock (if you don't have good lock yet, its in the galaxy store). Under "visibility of indicator icons" you can turn off "Network Information" on homescreen, lockscreen and Expanded QS panel, that should hide your AT&T/Sprint etc etc label in the status bar. Interestingly enough I have a Bell S20, by default for my region carrier name is not shown.. which is a bonus...
