Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.. I've tried to install four ROMs and I get to the reboot screen and I reboot and it loads up and then twenty minutes later and still in the boot animation screen an hour later still on the boot animation screen.. two hours later still on the boot animation screen.. I'm no rookie at flashing if had iPhone, evo 4g, gs3 but this puzzles me I have used twrp on all my devices except the I phone so I'd like to think I know what I'm doing but I just can't get any ROM to boot up successfully on this thing I've tried paranoid Android, miui , a few jelly Bean ROMs and still none will go past the boot animation... Help please

2. Are you doing a factory reset, wiping cache and dalvik cache in TWRP before flashing the ROM?
Edit: sorry, I was thinking I was still in the nexus 7 forum. *face palm.
Ignore 1 and 3 if you read them.

Yes, no need to make multiple threads, and especially in the development section, closing this one and you can keep the thread in the Q&A.
Thank you.

So this is my first time posting so im a pretty big noob at this, but here it goes. I have a T-mobile Galaxy s2 that i rooted a few months ago. Today CM9 released the stable version, which is what Ive been waiting for so i decided to try it out. (again, Ive never flashed a rom before I only used the stock one) I followed all the steps to do it and now its been at the boot screen for over an hour. The instructions said be patient, but I feel that over an hour is too long. I decided to pull the battery, hoping I could go into recovery mode and do a factory reset. When I try to go into recovery mode it vibrates a couple times but doesn't go into recovery mode. I can't go into download mode either. Does anyone have any idea for what I can do to at least do a factory reset? Thank you in advance for the help.
Edit* After going into recovery, I tried a factory reset but its still trying to boot into CM9. Why is it doing that?
When factory reset it doesn't go back to stock rom .
How are you flashing the rom?

Actually, for some reason recovery was being really strange. I had to hold down the power and the volume buttons 3 times for it to go to recovery, then I restored an older backup that was on my memory card and it took a while then finally worked
Do you by chance know why it didn't work?
I've been getting this same problem. I can get back to recovery and recover from my backup just fine, but every time I try to get CM9 working, it won't go past the boot screen, even after about an hour of waiting.
I've tried the CM9 hercules stable release off the CyanogenMod website and the CM9 RC2 download through ROM Manager, I've tried installing through ROM Manager and straight from booting into recovery, and I've tried putting the zip on both external and internal storage just in case that might conceivably affect something. I have the same problem every time. I'm using CWM 5.0.2.7 and currently on rooted stock.
Any ideas on how I might get this rom working?
You need Darkside super and cache wipes, which are both available in a sticky with an obvious title in the development section of the forum.

What he said. Non touch clockwork mod for this phone has a broken cache wipe function. Will cause infinite boot. Flash tdjs cache wipe NOT THE SUPER WIPE. and you should be golden.

Flashing a rom on my phone, and it's on the loading/rom animation for a hour at least.
Should I do something or just wait it out?
Are you talking about flashing the rom or restarting phone after flashing a rom?
Sent from my LG-E730 using Tapatalk 2
Restarting after the flash. aokp boot animation is nice and all.....

Restarting the phone after flash depends from rom to rom. Anyways the general idea about how much time it takes will be around the same time when you had first started your phone i.e when you had purchased it. The time taken after first boot is same as that of when you have flashed a fresh rom. Hope you get it since my English isnt that great.
Btw it wont take an hour XD

You did something wrong. Are you coming to aokp from a touchwiz rom?
Sent from my Motorola DynaTAC 8000X
Usually it doesn't take more than 5 to 10 minutes to boot after a rom flash. Those are the longest times I have experienced with my phones. It usually takes 3 minutes or less for me.
Stock rooted Sammy rom. I did read the op, and followed the procedure.
I just fixed it with the other procedure some people have mentioned.
factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format data
flash again, reboot straight back into recovery
factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
Phone booted up in about 30 seconds after that.:good:

Hello all, weird problem. I've tried numerous times to wipe my phone to reinstall CNA 3.6.6. I'm running the latest CWM.
I boot into recovery and do a factory reset and wipe/data/cache/system. All the prompts show that the phone is being wiped etc... Then I reflash the ROM and Gapps. When I reboot its as if nothing happened. It seems like the Full wipe did nothing. Any ideas? Really perplexed!

Best to just flash back to stock. Format internal SD while you are at it just to be sure.
You still have GNex toolkit installed on your PC right? Download and flash the stock ROM, format internal memory and start from scratch.
Disregard this post.
Thanks. I'll give it a try.

This happened to me last night. Was on jbsourcery, wiped, flashed aokp and it wouldn't boot. Reflashed jbsourcery and it booted as if I never wiped it.
Had to unroot and start over but ran into some issues and am stock for the time being.

try twrp recovery. it could be an issue with cwm most likely. its a shame if you went through the process of flashing the factory image and reroot if its just an issue with that recovery.
I haven't done anything yet. I'll give TWRP a shot soon. Thanks!

easiest way to install the latest twrp.. install goo manager from the play store(free), press menu(3 dots top right), press install openrecoveryscript, press yes, let it do its thing, and you are done.
Yup, just did it. Gonna back up some things and flash a new ROM. Thinking about going from CNA 3.6.6 to 3.8

Installed CNA 3.8 with TWRP but its all down hill from there.
Now stuck at "android is updating". My phone never gets past that screen. Numerous battery pulls leave me stuck at the "x" boot animation. Only access I have is to recovery. Did I just brick my phone?

You could adb push cwm back and restore the backup. But to be honest I would go back to stock and wipe the sd if I where in your shoes.

I was able to push CWM but when I tried to restore a backup, I got a md5 mismatch. I'm thinking about going back to stock to start over BUT is there anyway I can retrieve my personal data? Thanks.

I remember there is a computer program called android commander. You might be able to use that to get the info but tbh I really don't know. This is the issue about not having a removable sd card
Problem solved. I was able to adb pull what I needed and returned to stock. Phone is working now. Thanks.

Can I get out of it by flashing stock Odin? Where are those links

Flashing stock would definitely get you out of it.
Simple search for stock rooted Roms will give you what you need.

NP.
You lose custom recovery flashing those files. You retain root though so you can just reflash a recovery and than wipe if you didn't want to wipe through stock recovery.

I've got the same problem. Totally clean installs but upon reboot, I'm stuck at the note 2 screen. 4.2.2 ROMs boot. Probam roms mentioned having an unlocked bootloader but i thought that was a prerec to being rooted?
No problems here. One thing on 4.3 roms is the su binary needs to be updated usually. Supersu from the play store addresses this. I'm running the cm 4.3 9-1 nightly.

Which recovery are you using to flash it?
Twrp
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Clockwordmod superuser app was the key! After the first boot, I ran the app and even though it always wanted to be updated (even after it went through its process) 4.3 ROMs would reboot! I tried probam and pacrom. Each time I flashed new, I had to re update the su or else no reboot. Thanks for your help!
Stuck at cyanogenmod screen on t0ltetmo 10.2 Need help
I'm having the same problem, I had stock new 4.1.2 t0ltetmo. Rooted/TWRP recovery booted fine. Loaded RomManager booted into recovery flashed 10.2 nightly from 9/9/2013 then flashed 4.3 GAPPS, Wiped cache, now it's just sitting at the cyanogeMod screen does not boot. I've installed a lot of roms w/o issue but am a novice.
How do I get back into recovery? What is my course of action? HELP!! Thanks
