Ok, maybe it is just me or maybe there are others out there....
The layout of 2012 devices would be nice if it was just a grouping of apps and themes that were universal between the devices. it really is disgusting to log in one day and find my device mixed in with the others.
this is not very handy or useful when trying to track down something that is made just for my device.
this is a very sloppy structure and i would figure that anyone or group in their right mind, would make this observation and banish this layout. I dont care if my device and four others are 2012 devices. if i cant use all the roms, themes, apps, kernels, basebands, and every other known thing from other devices on mine... it should not share the same space. i would think that after a month of looking at this, that a moderator and other members would have thrown in their two cents and said this is just ridiculous.
the structure of this needs to be redone so that anything universal is shared in a " Xperia 2012" forum and the rest of general/development/themes/and q&a are put with their respective devices and in their own forum. get behind me people and make it easier for you and other users to navigate and find what they are looking for. lets get this organized, this looks like crap!
VERY SLOPPY STRUCTURE!!!

theres a forum at the top of the main section called "about XDA-Developers", if there needs to be something discussed about the site itself then this forum is where it needs to be
also if the OP is wanting to have the device in its very own section i can only assume hes offering to pay the extra costs needed by xda to have a device per forum model
if you want illustated help you may want to wait til i can get to my home computer

watch how you talk to people, the merge happened on xda-developers. that about xda-developers forum is the place the admins and mods look to see what people think about the site. so his greivance should have been posted there. that bit i was serious about the money thing was a joke at OPs expense, i did not know the merge was a result of sonys request, but it COULD have been to condense the amount of forums thereby saving hosting space and costs

This type of attitude will not be tolerated.
Given the that PiLoT is retired senior moderator he may just know more about how xda makes its decisions regarding forums and layouts. He was never rude or belligerent in his comment. Show some respect.

The "thank you" system currently seems to be unbalanced. The problem is, users who make up cool stuff that isn't actually tested are getting voted quickly (without question), because many of them act as though they were properly tested in the past (but haven't). There is no means to revoke such "thanks", and users who repeatedly make up crap, are receiving numerous thanks. It's also quite easy to accidentally click the thanks button (as no confirmation is required). At the very least, we SHOULD be able to revoke "thanks". That way if someone is thanked, but are later proved to be making stuff up, at least users can revoke their thanks.
Ideally, we need an indicator that CAN become negative. Because there are currently quite a few users out there posting complete crap, which newbies will thank them for (because some of them are speaking with such authority, and claiming "that they proved it earlier", that they get praised for nothing.
If information accuracy is important on XDA, this needs fixing. At least a way to request citation, or references to claims being made would be nice.
+1
I've on many occasions pressed the "Thanks" button by mistake when I meant to press the quote button.
We need a thanks mod installed that can also revoke given thanks aswell as a confirmation.
i think a confirmation, when thanking someone is a good idea, but not revoking thanks, this could be used as a form of bullying or harrasment.

it's happened on other message boards who allowed Thanks/UN-thanks. Someone will say something that rubs someone wrong and then that other person will unthank every post until it's a large negative number giving the illusion that they shouldn't be heard.
I use the thanks button as an anti-clutter device in threads at times. I'll give thanks on posts that I agree with so I don't give a redundant and uninformative post with a quote and +1. Just clutters things up IMO.
Perhaps just change the name to "I like this" or something.

Because he's been on the internet for more than 1 hour. un-thanks, as he has said, could indeed cause some serious problems.
But I do agree that that Thanks button is easy to hit. This has been brought to the attention of the people upstairs and they are trying to work out a solution.
Yep. You can use the old XDA style if you want to try and avoid it.
I had to block the thanks button via my adblocker, as it is right were I am used to seeing the edit button on each post, so it's too easy to tap when going to edit something.
We do need a nice way though to vote posts as unproven.. Not sure about other forums, but there are a huge percentage of posts on i9000 which are total bs being presented as fact, our untested.. It's ruining the quality if xda and mods aren't reacting, or requiring they prove there claims. There are even known repeat offenders Who seem to like all the thanks they are getting. Harassment can be stopped by limiting it to 2 thanks/fiction credits per user. That also stops gangs of purple teaming up and boosting each others stats to make themselves seem more credible

This seems like an insane solution.
I agree that there shouldn't be an unthanks button in the sense that you can make the post seem negative - but what about the ability to remove thanks?
I have wanted to quote posts and hit 'Thanks' by accident on several occasions, thanking posts that really don't deserve to be thanked. Other forums that have the thanks button allow you to "remove" your thanks - in case you changed your mind, or thanked the post by accident.
I like the concept of thanking posts, it just seems poorly implemented on xda-devs - growing pains I'm sure, I just hope that it keeps evolving - the current system IMHO is broken.
...Thanks!

I did a few because of the stuff DamianGTO was saying, and yet, nothing ever changed. You need to make it part of the rules, that posts might be deleted if they are presented as factual nature, yet are unproven, and the poster REFUSES to change it to present it as opinion.

Honestlt the people who were actually going to donate money still will so thats not hurt but i was unhappy it got shut down because alot of people really enjoyed that thread and had a great time. Be best to just leave it alone, doncha think?
One of the excuses for closing it down was due to it not being for a particular dev but just in general. I agree there was some minor bickering going on but the main reason for that thread should have prevailed over the few arguments that took place.
There was obviously a lot of interest based on the amount of money that was raised and it is unfortunate that doesn't matter here.
I guess if someone wanted to start another bounty thread up and say it is for team Viper to deliver ICS to the E4GT then that would abide to the XDA rules...

I don't know what the continued disagreement is about...
It's been shown before that bounty threads don't work.
It would be more effective to get everyone's money together and buy a phone outright for developers like Rootzwiki does.
Most developers don't do this for any sort of monetary gain, providing different models allows development across even more phones.

The only problem with people purchasing a phone for a dev is at that point they feel like the dev will owe them something and would expect them to put in all the hours until they get whatever it is the people want working.
If the dev decided he didn't want to put the time in to get the work done, I think the people who purchased the phone would get pretty annoyed and would have a pretty valid argument I think.
At this point, who would you buy a phone for that can honestly say I can produce ICS for the ET4G? If someone can actually make that claim, I think people would do it but I do not know who that person would be.
I believe the CM team already has the phone so I would guess they are working on CM9 for us. At least that is what I think I heard, someone correct me if I am wrong.

There isn't a perfect method for anything.
However, the purchasing of phones for developers just seems like a better strategy.
I've read multiple tweets by several different developers that show they're more interested in that than bounties or small donations.
I think it would be better for the community if XDA embraced this idea and allowed people to donate to a fund that would essentially buy phones for devs.
Thread was closed due to the trolls and drama. Just like 50% of the other threads on E4GT forum...
I'm not sad to see it go, I had a conversation with Glenn and know his intentions were all good, it's just with all the trolls in the E4GT forums it got out of hand.

Yeah things have definitely gotten out of hand. Looks like Viper's ICS thread in the general section is headed the same way with things so much off topic lately. People can't let anything go. When they argue once, they just got to keep dragging it on for some reason.
It was a stupid concept overall. That's why it's gone.

i couldnt agree more my man. in the evo days which was not that long ago for me this arguing and *****ing just was not at the level it in here. im not sure why people see the need to **** on everything they see and then pick out some one whom to have a lengthy argument with on the thread. they should just pm each other and have all these ***** fests with them selfs so we wont have too see it all and have it over all through out a entire thread take up several pages worth. its no wonder when people new to xda come in here and dont read the thread and ask repeat questions all the time. i bet if people just stuck to asking legit questions and raising legit concerns that the threads would be 50% or more smaller and be packed just full of use full information that would cause a lot of news to spend the time reading without wading through **** soup trying to find a answer for there problems. im glad Jerdog goes through threads and cleans up a ton of crappy posts to make the ones of importance easier to get to. xda needs to come up with a anti crappy post software to detect bull **** and stop the person from being able to post out there but hole. lol ok i feel better now

It might have something to do with the OP spamming the board every day with links to his pay site, and creating a new thread every day. Just doesn't sit well with a lot of folks.
Seems kind of immature. If the OP is violating site rules, report him to the mods. If he's not, either shut up and color or lobby for a change to the rules so as to bring him into the wrong. I appreciate greatly that a lot of mods, etc., are offered here for free, but I don't think every mod has to be free, and, in fact, the OP is offering a free mod in addition to linking to his pay site.

Thank you. I am not trying to make a huge profit with my paid mods. Just enough to be able to keep on creating them. I am not sure what any complaints are about. I do not feel like I am breaking any rules at all.
I am posting a quality mod for multiple roms completely free of charge. Yes, I have a link to my site, but it is in my signature and at no time am I charging for anything in the forum nor promoting any specific paid mod. I really don't see how this doesn't sit well with some people.
As for different posts, I am releasing different mods which may make my post become very clustered. Not sure how seeing a free mod almost every day is annoying. I apologize for any offense to anyone. I really am just trying to provide quality mods and help people make their phones look as nice as possible.

Some constructive criticism- Not my intent to hate on you for free mods. Maybe instead of a new thread every day, create one thread for your mods and update it whenever you want. Those who like your mods will know to star the thread and come back to it whenever they wish. As for the fuzzy graphics, you might consider using vector images as opposed to raster so they don't pixelate. Not condescending at all, just hopefully helpful criticism.

I know on Codename, you can just set the color to whatever. So why is this MOD necessary?

I am creating this thread to submit some ideas to possible improvements to the wonderful XDA site. I do not think this belongs hidden in the hundreds of pages of posts in the "From the users to the mods and admins" thread. This is a different thread where users can design their concepts and post them up as images. Please visit that thread however for some awesome suggestions.
As I say in all my guides, suggestions are like gold to me and I just want to make my service better. All reasonable comments are welcome. Please PM me if you have any urgent problems. I am sorry if my service is uninvited. I have two extension threads
[mini guide] xda
[MINI GUIDE] XDA Features
I know it is easy, but please do not troll my thread.
Thankyou
This thread can also be used for other people to suggest and design their concept for XDA. If you cannot design it. Leave a suggestion below and I will try.
Here are my suggestions:

An option to suggest a sticky. Many useful threads are being posted daily. Some are vital and need to be stickied. You could post it HERE or, if this button is introduced, you could hit that.
Many thank worthy things are sent by PM. The option to thank a PM itself, would be very useful.
All suggestions are more than welcome. Please hit 'thanks' if you appreciate my effort. Sorry if this is not something you wanted.
Special Thanks to:

There was a small problem regarding the closing this thread. Please refer HERE to see the story.
As for thanking PMs, whilst it'd be useful a large number of times, it would be abused by people who think they're cool by having tonnes of thanks. I agree with being able to suggest a sticky though, and perhaps even to remove a sticky if it contains outdated information.
Yup, the PM thanking would get abused pretty fast, and people would exchange PM's so they could thank each other over and over again.

To the MODS
This thread was closed by PG101 before due to a misunderstanding that the thread was a duplicate of 'From the users to the MODs and admins'.
I wrote a PM saying:

You probably read this already but I am simply asking you to reconsider and by bringing it your attention again.
Thankyou Very Much

Hi
My only concern is that the questions u have raised have been asked in the other thread.. so I don't want to encourage new threads for each question.
If I'm not mistaken you're request was to add thanks feature in the PM?

That was one yes. The other one was to have a stick recommendation. But I created the thread to allow people to post the actual designs. I can see why it overlaps but I thought it would deserve a specialized thread. I am aware of the other thread. I can assure you that the purpose of this one was different.
Thankyou for your co-operation

Hey there,
Thankyou very much for the comment. Good to see you read my post.
Just a suggestion, some people might have mistook that comment for spam trying to hit the 10. Be careful or your posts may be "cleaned" permanently from XDA.
Thanks again.
The PC site definitely needs a "Participated" tab just like the app has. It's great since we can easily see if any old threads have been posted in, etc. This would also be very helpful in the offtopic section, where people frequent the game threads and subscription to so many can be avoided. Especially iif we don't want email notifications to game threads, but we want them for dev threads

I do not use the APP because my x8 is quite slow as it is and memory is quite an issue. If it is not too much trouble, could I ask that you or someone else could post a screenshot of that feature. I will then try and make a concept image.
Also, as a note to everyone reading, this thread is designed for the concept images not just the suggestion. If you can make the image, go ahead. Or leave your suggestion and I will try to make it if it is reasonable/feasible.
Thanks
Thanks to QuantumFoam for this. Image has been blurred at author's request.
Also, after thinking about it, I believe the site already has something like this. A feature I had been using ever since I got onto XDA.
On the PC version, click on your name (Deftone) > then the statistics tab > then find all posts by Deftone (Or your name)
You can also "Find all threads by yourself" too.
If you still want me to conjure something up, just request again
Has anyone gotten the call and data to work for Toro? Or is anyone working on it? Not even sure if its working on GSM. I'd like to follow any posts that are working on it.

Wow, really!? Why so negative? Instead of being helpful and pointing me towards the thread your speaking of, you want to point out how dumb you think everyone is. I came to get help and info, if your not going to be helpful the why waist your time posting. I'm not here for you opinion. Now, you claim there's a link but you didn't post it.
OP there is a sub-forum for Ubuntu. All Ubuntu related threads should go there please.

considering there are a ton of these threads, yes really.
instead of being a lazy person, go to the ubuntu touch section of the forums. thank you for wasting time by posting another useless thread.
It seems there's a lot of people on here with not much to do but post negative replies to questions. For your information I did do a search for the TORO Ubuntu call issue and didn't find anything. Instead filling this post with your opinions point me in the right direction. Not everyone has been here as long as you have, some people need help.
If you have a link to this issue then post it. You say there's s ton of post for this issue, right?
Damn guy we told you there is an ubuntu subforum, why are you still *****ing at us? It took me one google search and less than a minute to find the link. Here it is, now gtfo.

I know about the Ubuntu forum, but I was under ten post so I can't post in there yet. The admin told me to post any questions here. There's nothing in the Ubuntu section that talks about the Toro call issue.
What a bunch of little girls!!!

So angry.....someone needs a hug.:crying:
Like I said, I couldn't post there because I was under ten post. Why does this make people so mad. Its a gnex question in a gnex forum. Is strictly for Android? If so....Im sorry for posting in your forum sir....
Man back off OP guys, *****ing about how he didn't follow procedures doesn't help the situation. Don't feed the troll, you gave him more food than a fat guy orders at McDonalds.
In addition to the link, Canonical hints through documentation on their site that CDMA and LTE will be supported on their end eventually... They also want this to be a community effort more or less so not sure if anyone will even bother with CDMA and LTE, it's easier to wait for them to throw something out.
People have said that using some blobs from CyanogenMod for the Verizon GalNex could get the radio in full working order, yet no one to my knowledge (other than me) is really working on that. I'm working on it, but I'm a noob when it comes to ROM development and such, so don't expect much from me.
Hope I helped lol
Thread closed. OP don't be lazy, XDA is not a spoon feeding site, please use a search engine or XDA's own search function.
