After I flashed some recovery and roms (the last one is recovery 6.0.1.9, and Omega rom 7.0), i found both of the telephone earcap and the loudspeaker (on the back side) have no sound more, and the Earphone has a big noise when it plugged on.
I tried a soft reset, hard reset, and at last flashed the origal rom and original recovery. But nothing changes.
Can it a hardware defect be? I hope it's not, while I bought this phone in foreign country and Samsung refuse the warranty. But if it is, what should it be? Can I try to repair it on myself? Thanks for every advise.

Why not try flashing stock rom and try if problems persist? If it does with all stock software intact, then it COULD be hardware. Try poking inside the 3.5mm port to see if there's something triggering the phone to detect that headphones are inserted that's why the speakers don't work.
If all else fails, search for the thread which gives instructions to flash stock rom and reset binary counters so sammy will think that no custom roms were used. Warranty should take of this for you.:good:

thank you, I think i have not subscribe clear: I have already flashed stock rom ,but there is even no sound. With headphone insert in 3.5 mm port can the device detect that, but man only hear noise through the headphone. Means that the audio chip defect?

If all else fails, try your luck with Sammy support. They only refuse international warranty if the phone your phone was not bought where it was intentionally put up for sale, or you got your unit gray, meaning not from authorized sammy centers.
Let's wait for the seniors/experts to see if they have other options for you.

Hi all,
I have search , but it seems that nobody have this.
Yesterday, i had trying the new CM9 Rom from Modaco ( not so bad), and when I come back with a Nandroid restore to my daily rom, i had lost the volume in my external speaker ( back of the handset)
I don't think this is a hardware problem because , the speaker works , i can hear music correctly, BUT with a very very low volume.
I have try to flash some boot.img with another rom like ARHD 5.2, and do a superwipe, but the volume stay very low.
If somebody have an idea , please help.
Thanks
Edit :13-05-2012
After a lot of tests , now my speaker does not work any more. It is completely mute in all the Rom .
If somebody have an idea : I need to know if it s a Hardware or Software problem.
If is a software problem, maybe somebody knew a solution: HHHHELP
That happened on my first (unrooted) HOX. I plugged some headphones in and removed them and it went back to normal. Never happened again.
Thanks, but not works for me.
This is my third HOX, and now it is unlocked .
I want to be sure that is a hardware problem, if i have to ask to HTC to repair it.
I would suggest using the RUU to do a complete reinstall of your phone rather than flashing boot images from other roms just in case the boot.img's you are using conflict or dont alter the same files.
You could maybe try this though:

Have you a link to a tutorial of a complete reinstall using RUU , for unlocked device ?
I try this very soon.
Thanks.

I have relocked the phone and install the RUU 1.28, but no change. Still speaker with a very very low volume ( can't hear the ring ).
If somebody have an idea . I pray for that was not a hardware problem ( one more ) of the HOX.

Sounds like hardware to me, the fact it went quiet then gone altogether I would think it blew
Were you running any volume boost apps or anything?

Thanks for help.
Seems to me that is effectively a hardware problem.
I'm happy to be the first with a speaker problem.
I 'm tired of that phone. 3 differents handset , with 3 differents problem.
Seems to me that the GS3 have a good futur , with the shame from HTC.
Hello again,
i purchased a second hand Htc One X. I have unlocked the bootlaoder and installed a custom rom (insert coin). Straight after that i have flashed the boot.img
Now when the phone starts up i have got no sound at all. No ringtone, no youtube no mp3, no nothing. When i plug in the headphones i get sound through them
Unfortunately i did not try if it works before i flashed the custom rom so i can't say if i destroyed something or if it was like that. Is there a reliable way to figure out if the hardware is dead or if i just messed up something?
TIA

OK, i have now tried the probam 4.1.1 with same result. No sound. I did it exactly as instructed by the howto. Wipe everything, flash boot.img then rom. Still no sound
Anyone got any other idea?

Come on guys, some one must know something about it
Probably hardware related if it doesn't work on different roms. Try an RUU/nandroid see if it works then.

I had the same problem and fixed it easily - open the phone (you can find guides on the web with a simple search) and look at the back cover near the speaker itself - you will see two small metal legs - just left them a bit up and that's it, plug the phone back together and you will have your sound back.
Cheers!
Ok from the beginning:
Stock rom
rooted Stock Rom with Galaxy Note 2 Toolkit
Installed TWRP
Everything works great for MONTHS.
Last night:
Went into TWRP, made a backup
Wiped everything
Installed this pile of crap http://galaxynote2root.com/sprint-g...-mobilesprintverizoncanadiangt-n7100gt-n7105/
Yes, they have a sprint l900 file there to use.
rebooted, everything all good. nice fast rom.
Left it plugged in to charge.
This morning: The phone is warm to touch and does not boot.
Managed to get to download mode and use Odin3.09 to install latest stock rom
rebooted and everything was stock.
Now the device reboots after a second of being plugged in, but there is graphics corruption and the back light does not turn on.
If I go to download mode, I can plug in the charger.
Inside Download mode, all specs are 'Official' stock. 5 counts on the flash counter.
any ideas?
I tried that rom a while back but I had to return to my fav tw based rom due to the known issues with those aosp roms. Data connectivity is terrible and thats a priority for me. Anyway its very easy to download & flash the wrong rom. If you accidently flash a rom for a gsm phone that could be the source of your problem. If you know for a fact you flashed the correct rom then id suspect a kernel or partition issue.
This is what I'd do. Odin back to the stock unrooted LJC then go from there to get back to rooted MC2 and see if you have the same problem. If the problem continues then you have a hardware problen or bad battery and yyou'll need to go to the Sprint store for TEP service.

Odin it back to MC2 non root. Now whenever I plug in a charger, the phone reboots then the backlight turns off.
I'll try the LJC however I was told due to the emmc fix in MC2 that it will nbot let you go back to LJC.
UPDATE: Phone stays on when in Download Mode. I heard I can charge it this way.

Not true, you can go back but you have to do via CWM/TWRP. (Not eMMC, bootloader was modified)
Try this: Remove your micro sd card then backup everything on your internal storage to your computer. Then use odin to return to stock unrooted LJC or MC2. You will want to use reset the flash counter while your at it. Once done see how your phone acts. If the problem continues then I'd go to your closest corporate Sprint store that has a service center. Hopefully you have TEP. At that point id have to assume you have a hardware problen. If you repair your phone's partitions using odin to flash it back to stock, that should do the trick. If not you'll need a new phone in my opinion.
Keep us posted on your findings.

Yeah, thats what I'm afraid of. I've used Odin to bring it back to MC2 but not LJC.
I thought TriangleAway did not work on note 2?
Also I replaced the USB board thinking it was that.
Same thing happens. Runs perfect on battery, soon as I plug it in, bam restart. No charge led or anything.
Problem is that this phone was a gift from a friend. It's clean ESN Sprint phone being used on a local MVNO.
I do not know how warranty stands on this phone then.
I don't know what MVNO is but I assume its a different carrier where you live. Since you didn't buy the phone from Sprint or an authorized retailer then you don't have any type of warranty to fall back on and you obviously don't have sprint's insurance so you're basically sol in that dept. Hopefully you can figure out what's causing the problem. I'd try putting in a different battery to see if your battery is bad. Borrow a battery at a sprint store, Verizon, AT&TT, etc. Pop it in and see what happens. Are you using the original Samsung charger? I bet it's your battery.

I'm pretty sure this is the exact same thing that happens to like 80% of the note 2 after exactly 6 months or a year. Replaced the USB board and used different batteries. Even JTAGed it to see if all the binaries were correct.
It comes down to the charging IC being piss poor in combination of a crap designed USB charge board.
I would not recommend anyone buy a Note 2 or 3 based on many many many people having the no charge / reboots issue.
Scumbag Samsung.
I've never had a problem with my charge port. Bought my note 2 the week it was released. Maybe your phone wasn't exactly pampered before you got it. Lol

Once u get the official, u will get the bootloader as well.
With the new bootloader, u r unable to downgrade in a normal way via odin.
But I did few updates on several N7105 through OTA, and nver got problems with capacitive touch.

Yes you are correct but in my country warranty system is different. My phone has other companies warranty. So when i call them they said sent yiur phone to our service. But i think they are not very experience for this issue and they can say this is customer mistake your phones buttons get a damage. Therefore i m sure this is software problem and i m waiting an answer from here. If nobody can find a solution for my problem as a last solution i should sen my phone to service

Try this app, it will not fix the problem but will enable you to use the phone without problems. You may even do so with minimal loss of display space by making buttons overlay the actual display and making them semi transparent.

I recently flashed an FM Radio app on my Note 3 (rooted SM-N900T w/CM 12.1), flashed without issue but ever since then I do not have sound through my earpiece. I am unable to take calls unless I use a headset or use the speakerphone. I have already wiped and reflashed, not only CM 12.1 again, but have also done a full factory reset and flashed stock as well but the problem persists. Anyone have a clue to get the sound back in the earpiece? This is driving me up the wall!

Not sure if you've resolved the issue yet, but I'll try to help if you haven't. You could try formatting everything in recovery instead of just wiping. Format all except your external sd of course, and then try to flash a ROM. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to use Odin to flash stock firmware and re-root and so forth. That should definitely clear up the issue if simply formatting and flashing a ROM doesn't work.
For future reference, do not flash any FM apps. It probably messes up the drivers and the apps won't work correctly for us at the moment regardless. Our N900T has an FM chip but it's not active at the moment. However, our team is currently trying to find a driver to get it functioning.

Hello and thank you for the reply, this issue is still very much unresolved so your help is much appreciated! I have already tried using Odin to flash stock firmware to no avail, the problem still persists, however I will certainly try formatting everything in recovery and hopefully that'll clear things up, that didn't even dawn on me to try. Thank you for the suggestion, I will report back my results here. And absolutely will NOT be flashing any FM apps in the near future!

Ah man... that doesn't sound good if Odin didn't fix it. No pun intended. Lol
Yeah hopefully formatting will do the trick. If not it almost seems like a hardware issue and the speaker actually went out. Using Odin and stock firmware should flash back all the correct drivers.
