Which one and why?
For me CM10 because I haven't tried AOKP.

AoKP I've tried both and prefer it over cm10. Although I do miss some of the cm 10 features so I run paranoidkang. Which is cm10 aokp and a few other sources merged into one.

Both are very good. At the moment, Task's AOKP... but waiting for 4.2 releases

AOKP. Task's AOKP to be specific.
It's just ever so slightly more customizable than CM10 in most categories. CM10 is a little prettier but oh well.
I've flashed many roms, but task's AOKP is the best. There are a few bugs, but stable enough to be a daily driver.

Just received my GS3 and there are so many Roms I can't pick one!!! I surprisingly like TW, but I also like AOSP Roms. For AOSP I'm thinking CM10 or CNA, and for TW FreeGS3 R6 or stock T999UVALH2. What do you guys think??
If you're into AOSP ROMs, you can't go wrong with CM10 or AOKP, both of which are stable enough to be daily drivers. I also recommend Lean Kernel which is awesome.

I use the one that comes with it. Is there a feature missing that you are looking for?

Bad install, make sure you get the right version. Flash your rom first, then the kernel. Wipe Cache, Dalvik and Fix permissions. KT747 is compatible with AOSP roms so make sure you download that one. After that you should be fine.
Cm10 is aosp(android open source project), so you want the kt747 kernel titled "aosp jellybean"
For problem free install:
1. Install ROM from clean wipe(wipe cache,davlik, format/system)
2flash kernel of choice
3wipe davlik,cache, and fix permissions.
If after all these it doesn't work check base of ROM if base is before 10/14 it isn't compatible with kt747 latest you will then need 10/9 kernel. As stated by ktoonsez some phone will not accept his kernel even if the ROM does, this is a known fact. Good luck with your flash.

I've been running LeanKernel and my battery life has been awesome. Haven't had a chance to try out Kt747 though.
Anyone have experience with both?

Kt747 is good, although the black screen aosp bug is rather annoying. Lean kernel just didn't have the same wide variety I have come to know and love with kt747's governors and schedulers. Not to mention voltage control and all the extras.

Ah I see. I guess I need to do a little bit more research! The most I know about is really undervolting with setcpu. Thanks
Lean kernel is very good if you just want to have a lower min freq and save battery.
This thread came up at just the right time. Flashed CM10 stable last night and am running on Lean. Big difference before and after! :good:
So I'm currently running paranoid android. And I love the fact that I can put my status bar at the bottom, and tweak the gui size of all my apps. However, I'm generally getting tired of the cm style. So I guess what I'm wondering, are there any ROMs out there, which are drastically different from cm based ROMs?
P. S. Not a fan of touchwiz.

I can't think of any good stock ROMs, but one ROM I can't live without is Task650's AOKP Rom. It has tethering, wifi hotspot, bluetooth hotspot, basically everything you could need! Go take a look at it! Oh and use Leankernel for your kernel for battery life. I'm not even trying to sell it lmfao! I just love it! LOL! The ROM is also extremely stable, and Task650 is one of the best developers for android I've seen.

I've been rather inactive on XDA for several months and haven't really kept up with the gnex dev scene. Is there some hot new stuff everyone's running?
I'm still running euroskank AOKP nightlies and Franco kernel.
I've found the most stable and stock-like with nice extra features to be Cataclysm.

I highly recommend AK kernel. The development is very impressive. Both editions (Diamond and Rubik) are very stable and fast.

The Vanir-based ROMs are very highly-rated. They are praised for their raw speed (they're the fasted ROMs I've tried, and I've tried many). Team Vanir is a 5-man team that developed Vanir ROM. That's the one I'm running. However individual members of team Vanir have put their own spin on the Vanir base as well. PrimeDirective made Atom ROM, DHO made Commotio. Also Akellar, a member of AOKP, took the Vanir base and put AOKP customizations on it. That ROM is called AK47; it looks like AOKP but feels like Vanir.

I'm currently running Liquid Smooth v2.2 with AK DIAMOND v99.
Previous ROMS tried and recommended are ATOM, XYLON & PITCH BLACK..
PitchBlack + AK Rubik, very fast, smooth and very good battery life
Been running Miui v4 - 4.11
Lean Kernel 4.4 exp3
Stock voltages / Hotplug Gov
This has been treating me extremely well!
For some reason this has been the only Rom/Kernel Combo to get me through a full work day and then some, even with little to reception at the job. Weekends I average a good 18 hours/ 2 hours screen time, on a hoke eBay battery.
CM 10.1 + Franco Kernel
:good:
Liquid smooth latest stable and lean kernel latest. Other favourite ROMs of mine are xylon and cm monthlies
