Hi guys,
i've got a big problem with my HTC One X after installing Android Evolution 8 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
I cant post in the thread there so I hope this is a good place.
I unlocked and rooted the HTC succesful with clockword mod.
After that I used this instruction:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxJf8xIVVC0
So i made a backup with clockwork mod, after that i wiped all the caches as said in the video and then I installed Android Evolution 8.
After reboot i got a reboot loop, after showing the startup screen the One X reboots, again and again.
I figured out that the problem could be, that i didnt use the superwipe tool, i justed wiped as in the tutorial.
Is there a way to reset the HTC or to restore the backup and to reinstall again or can I throw the HTC away?
Ok, sorry for the thread, I had no time to wait for an answer because battery was almost empty and didnt charge, so i risked it an tried to restore the Backup in Clockwork recovery.
That worked an now the HTC works fine again.
So i ll charge it and after that I user Super wipe before I reinstall Evolution 8 again.
Maybe the thread will help somebody else one day, cheers.
Steps to get out of boot loop
Hi,
You are probably got into a boot loop because the boot.img you have on your phone is not compatible with the custom ARHD ROM or is not correctly flashed. First charge the phone upto at least 50% battery (to be safe). Then try following the steps below:
1. Download this pack>> Fastboot Pack http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1616741
2. Extract the boot.img from the Custom Rom you are trying to install in a folder on your computer.
3. Extract Fastboot Pack into a folder on your computer and replace the boot.img by the boot.img extracted from the Custom Rom in Step.2
4. Turn your phone OFF
5. Turn your phone ON in bootloader mode by holding the power and vol down buttons at the same time, your phone will start in HBOOT mode. It will be displayed somewhere in the middle of the text.
6. Use the volume keys to move up and down the list, and select Fastboot, then press the power key. Now your phone will come in FASTBOOT mode.
7. Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable. Your phone will now display USB FASTOOT instead of just FASTBOOT.
8. Run 05-erase-cache.bat
9. Run 06-flash-custom-boot.bat
10. Run 08-install-clockwork-recovery.bat
11. Disconnect the USB cable. Your phone will now again say FASTBOOT.
12. Use the up or down volume key to select HBOOT and press the power button. This will take you back to HBOOT mode.
13. Use the volume keys to scroll to RECOVERY and press the power button.
14. This will take you to Recovery mode, now you can flash the Custom Rom you want using Recovery mode.

Hi,
thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately also after using the Super wipe i've got a Bootloop after installing HD 8.1.0.
The link with the fastboot Pack doesn't work, where can I find it?
After downloading Fastboot Pack, I have to replace the boot.img in the file Android_Revolution_HD-One_X_8.1.0.zip with that one from Fastboot Pack, is that right?
Just install boot image for ARHD 8.1 that is included in thread of ARHD. This definitely boot image problem. I think you didn't flashed it. Just follow the instruction on first page.

You can only flash boot image in fastboot mode, not in CWM.

I'm having the same problem (I think). After successfully installing the boot.img for ARHD 8.1.x, I get a bootloop trying to enter recovery mode (or trying to boot normally).
Edit: I installed ClockworkMod Recovery Touch prior to this but never tested it... Maybe that has something to do with it.

You can use this tool instead of Fastboot ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634786
And NO it is the other way round, You need to replace the boot.img in the tool by the one you get in ARHD and then run the tool. In this tool you will find a folder for boot.img which will contain one boot.img file already. Just replace that and run the tool. for HTC One X whenever you want to install a custom Rom, you need to do this.
A boot.img is normally a part of the custom Rom zip file which automatically gets flashed when you flash the rom. BUT this doesn't happen with One X due to some reason. So we need to flash the boot.img separately BEFORE flashing the ROM.
Let me know if the above helps by clickng Thanks

Hi.. What do you mean by getting a bootloop trying to enter recovery?
Which boot.img did you flash ? It should be the one which is inside the ARHD ROM zip file. So extract that and try following the steps in my reply above. If you still fail let me know the exact steps you took and issue and I will try to help.

When I try to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery (by selecting RECOVERY on the HBOOT screen), I get a boot loop. Same thing happens if I select REBOOT from the FASTBOOT screen.
Yes, I'm using the right boot.img. It's my understanding I have to install this before I can install the ROM.
To install it, I put my phone into fastboot USB mode, and ran:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
My One X is an S-ON device, btw.
Hi, it worked for me to flash the boot.img manually first
(boot.img for 8.1.x
S-ON devices can't flash boot.img in recovery, so you need to flash it manually before flashing ROM

My One X is S-Off.

That's what I did, but I got a boot loop.
Where can I find a copy of the default boot.img? Or is there another way to restore my system to normal so I can try again?
Edit: Also, are there different boot.img's for different firmware versions?
Hi,
because the original thread with the boot.img has been moved/edited, I upped it for You:

Theres a description inside, after flashing the boot.img it should work for you, let me know if it helped.

Ohh sorry I assumed your One X is S-OFF, you definitely need to do that FIRST, before going ahead with this flashing business. There is an awesome tool by hasoon2000 for doing this, which you can find here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
Just use the above tool to S-OFF your device, flash the recovery and then follow the steps I have given before. If you need more help with S-OFF let me know and I will provide detailed instructions for doing that.

ARHD 9
I just installed ARHD 9 and followed the instructions but now when it boots up it flashes onto the homescreen for a few seconds and then reboots, does anyone have a fix? i dont have a back up either
I think fastboot erase cache might be useful.
Every ROM requires (and is packaged with) a boot.img, you need to flash the ROM and you need to flash the associated boot.img.
If you get bootloops, make sure you have flashed the correct boot.img.
If the ROM reboots after it's started, make sure you superwiped when changing bases.
Basically, do all of the steps in the instructions, without missing out any of the steps.

I have faced that issue in the past. Just flash again, follow the steps I have given before. Remember to clear the cache at the beginning, and flash the boot img that you get inside the ROM you are flashing i.e. the one inside ARHD 9. Also, before you flash the ROM, wipe data (NOT SDCARD) and dalvik cache as well.

Hey all,
I have an HTC one X.
The Case, phoen wont boot to any screen except for, bootloader on recovery mode (including TWRP and CWM).
I have followed the instructions regarding the usage on HTC one X all in one tool, phone is rooted ( pic1.)
Afterwards, ive flashed, wiped formatted system, and then Flashed Stock ROM.
Phone is not booting farther than the CWM screen (pic2).
Any suggestion would be gladly accepted.
RUU?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Im on to it ...
did you flashed the boot.img from rom via fastboot? such things you should not forget...otherwise it wouldn't work so just try another rom wipe system, data, dalvik cache and cache in recovery flash the rom of your choice and in fastboot you have to flash the boot.img which is in the rom zip .with fastboot flash boot boot.img....then fastboot erase cache and fastboot reboot so that the phone reboots...then setup your phone and it's done
If you're running stock kernel you have to flash the original kernel and re-lock the phone, easiest way is using RUU (still have to relock your phone though)
Also, How is this a "development" for android?!!!

Thanks for putting your minds to it guys,
Thats the deal.
Rooted HTC oneX
1. While booting, goes straight to bootloader or into recovery...
2. I do the wipe, Dalvik and all of the other necessary
3. Flashed stock ROM, flashed any other possible ROM... reboot, and it goes back yo the bootloader menu.
Then, just to be clear.
Using the All in one HTC one X.
Re-Lock the phone
Went all the way from beginning.
1. Get token ID, Submit token ID, Unlock bootloader ( done, worked)
2. done the Wipe and re-flashed ROM... same result as before...
3. tried the RUU... nothing
4. i took out the boot.img out of the stock ROM and ran the and did a Kernel flash....
and now i have a pretty logo screen
Ha !! ive got it Runnin ! loaded Stock ROM !!
Thanks for all the Help!!

What i found up ...if after flash u get htc logo u have to take boot.img from firmware u flash and then volum - + power choose fastboot insert cable and flash boot thru fastboot ...the command would be like this : fastboot flash boot boot.img ...after that you're phone will start.U have to run fastboot from folder u have boot.img... so it's easy to copy boot.img to fastboot folder.

Unfortunately, now when I enter HBOOT, no only do I recieve a "failed to open usb master mode" and "pj46img.zip" fail message, but when I click "Recovery", my phone switches back to fastboot. I need to backup my system to downgrade and root afterwards.. anyways

Error message is normal because you have the usb connected. Without cable you won't get the message.
Second when you are in the bootloader do the command :
Fastboot erase cache
And you need to flash or boot a custom recovery !
Fastboot boot recovery.img
Or
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
The custom recovery has to be named "recovery.img" and be placed in the fastboot folder on the pc !
And what do you want to downgrade ?
Cache erased

Wow, thanks for such a quick answer.. sorry for not coming and thanking sooner...
Anyways.. I erased the Cache as recommended.
The reason why downgrade was because somewhere I read there are problems with rooting my phone on 4.2.2 so I thought downgrading to 4.1.1 would be adequate... Anyways recent research pushed me into believing it is not necessary...
Yeah, so anyway I've been looking for a custom recovery to use as you said...
version-main: 4.18.401.2
cidnum: HTC__032
Do I need to find a recovery for exactly my CIDnumber?

Yeah, umm hello there again.
So I used the Cyanogenmod recovery in the end...
Anyways I let myself led by the guide posted by Thömy (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583037)...
Everything went fine, I got the bootloader unlocked (before already), the recovery provided by ClockWorkMod, did a Data wipe, downloaded everything necessary, booted into Recovery... but when I got to flash the CM 11.0.zip (installing from the zip file in recovery) It failed..
So for no reason i decided to simply restart the phone and try whatever will I find then.. I haven't got past the white/green HTC screen though and I'm stuck at it... I can get back to recovery or the Bootloader, but nothing more, nothing less...
Any Idea?.. I'm struggling with it for a few hour now and feel lost

Use the Recovery that Mr Hofs gave you and flash the CM 11 package. Should work. CWM recovery sometimes gives you errors while flashing since you may have to modify the updater-script with-in the package to flash successful.
Nice, felt some progression

Ok try this..
Assuming you already did a full nandroid backup, do the following:
1. Do a FULL wipe on your device.
2. Flash the ROM again
3. Reboot to bootloader
4. Flash the boot.img again
5. Reboot
6.Thank me if it works.
Should work, that's normally the steps I take when flashing ROM's and have never failed me.
If he flashes the boot.img alresdy its a wipe issue. Doesnt matter when you flash it because it's not going to be changed installing a rom or wiping partitions from within the recovery (definitely not on a s-on device)
6: kinda corny to mention that isn't it ! Bit of a desperate call for appreciation......not confident enough you need confirmation
Got past it!

Hello,
I tried to install the cyanogenmod 11 to my phone today,it's the first custom rom that i ever install on an Android phone. I followed all the steps provided by the cyanogenmod team but the phone it's stuck at the boot image and won't pass it. The steps i made are these:
1.Downloaded the latest stable build of cyanogenmod
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=endeavoru&type=snapshot
I used the latest one M8.
2.Downloaded the GAPPS from here
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
I downloaded the CM11 file, the fist file that is in the list.
3.Downloaded the clockwork recovery from here:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
4.Put the downloaded cyanogenmod and GAPPS in a folder named Cyanogen in my storage
5. Installed the custom recovery of the clockwerk recovery
6. Wipe factory data/devlik cache
7. Installed the cyanogenmod zip and the gapps zip
8. Reboot, and not let the phone enter the cyanogenmod screen, pressed the volume down and power button to take it to fastboot
9. Installed the boot.img that is in the cyanogenmod zipfile
10. Reboot
After all of this the phone still doesn't boot up,it's just stuck at the cyanogenmod logoscreen, the wheel is spinning, sometimes freezes but always spinning, what do i have to do to make my phone work?
Please help,i need to use my phone in a few hours because i have to go to work.
Thank you verry much and excuse the long post.

Sir,
Firstly i installed htc sync manager and updated all my drivers .
Then i made a backup of all my pictures..videos..chats.. etc.
Once i was sure that nothing is there in the phone that is imp. And has not been backed up , i coppied the android 4.4.4 rom and gapps to my phone
I had hasoon 2000s toolkit for one x .
So i first used vol down button + power button to enter into fastboot mode and connected it to pc so that it says fastboot usb .
Then from there i think i didnt flash boot.img (and probabily thats the root caise of the problems im having .
Then i wiped my dalvic cache..partition cache and wipe data/factory reset
After that i clicked on install from zip and installed the cm11 endevouru xxxx xxx.zip file . Once it was complete i rebooted my phone to bootloader . Then again to recovery and then back to install zip . Now i installed gapps .
Once done i rebooted my phone . And now in the phone the cyanogenmod logo appears with an arrow going round and round encircling that logo.. and arrow sometimes stops for some moment but nothing happens .. the phone doesnot boot ahead .. wat to do im helpless sir please help me.. im in big trouble. Thank you.

did you flash boot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've quickly gone through this thread and am missing 1 important piece of info :
What is your hboot number and on what rom/software number were you before all this ?
If you hboot is lower than 1.3x than you can't install this rom at all.
And there is no need to reboot the bootloader between flashing the rom.zip and the GAPPS.zip. do these 2 straight after one another inside the recovery.
help me please
