[Q] Franco kernel updater (your device is not supported) toroplus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello Guys
First of let me just say that xda is an awesome community. I have been lurking these forums for a while now and have never encountered any problems until now. Usually i would just search my ass off trying to figure it out, but i cant seem to find an answers to this problem. Ok, so i just recentley decided to try out one of the 4.2 roms floating around (dreamsforgottons 4.2 are you jellin Odexed) flashed it via clockwork mod 6.0.1.5 (recently flashed it via fastboot to) i also flashed francos lastest test build r318 (flashed it via fastboot to). Everything is working fine, the only problem is francos updater app says my device is not supported, and i cant for the life of me figure out why. one thing that changed for me at least is in the about phone section, model number use to say galaxy nexus now it says toroplus. Is there a problem or does it say that because its still a test build.
Sorry for the long post, im just trying to narrow it down. Please forgive my grammar to ") I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.
If its a stupid question. Sorry about that.

In the app description it says it only supports 4.1.2, so maybe that's why.

well now i feel stupid. Thank you though. just want those color profiles you know.

Hi,
Maybe you guys can tell me what to do. Before this phone i had the sg2, and i decided to root the phone because everyone told me it was hard to brick that phone, and when i learned how to flash kernels and rom's, then i almost flashed new rom every week since then.
1. Now i bought the Nexus, and im happy with it, but i want to know, is it less big chance to brick this phone too?
2. To unlock, and root this phone i use GNex TOOLKIT V5.3, this is the safest and easiest way, right?
3. On my Sg2, i used Checkrom HD v4, Ginger-mod, Siyah and Speedmod. Which Rom's are the best out there (ive been looking at Foxhound, and android revolution HD), and which kernel is the best chooise for me, who don't undervolt or clock, meaning a kernel similar to Speedmod?
i would be thankful for every answer i would get,
thanks

1. It's been going around the community that the galaxy Nexus is hard to brick.
2. The toolkit is good to use, go ahead and use that.
3. I use the Gummy ROM and love it! I also use Francos Kernel for conserving battery.
Did I help you? Click the thanks button!
Phone: Galaxy Nexus
ROM: GummyNex
Kernel: Franco
Someone els who wanna share some tips?
thanks
All of the roms are great. Revolution HD is based on 4.0.2 and the rest are 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 I like foxhound but I am using AOKP. If you don't overclock or under clock, the stock kernel works just fine. I think most of the kernels are undervolted by default.

It's a whole new world. This is not samsung land anymore.
The nexus is aosp supported, so if you'd like read up on how to build from source, fastboot and the 4 combos you can do to boot your phone with.
Install android sdk and jdk 1.6. While you're waiting for the repo to sync, setup udev rules (some distros will probably have these already), adb will be your friend and nothing to be afraid of. See also ddms.
Done synching the repo? Good, now go read the wiki 'google build for devices'. Read also 'building system'. Then go read the tutorial for compiling aosp thread in General. Read up on that thread, it doesnt have many pages yet.
This is how custom roms and aosp kangs are born
1- well, from what i've seen, its even easier to debug whats happening, so yeah, i would expect this device to hold its ground while you throw almost anything at it. After all, this is a aosp supported device.
2- toolkit. Easiest? Yes. Safest? Probably no.
3- fugumod
In response to bricking. As long as your recovery doesn't get erased you can always just restore a backup if you mess up your phone. I like to keep a stock/root backup just in case.

Samsung flagship devices are hard to brick IMO. You have to be either doing something completely wrong or very very unlucky to brick one.
IMO Samsung devices are really hard to brick. I've had a few sammy android devices including the SGS2 and never bricked them to the point that they were unusable.
I have the Galaxy Nexus and not bricked it yet. The GNex toolkit really is safe as thats what I used to root mine.
As far as roms, this forum has a plethora of great options. Right now I'm running Manhattans ICS 4.0.3 and its been ultra stable with great battery life.

Hey guys, I'm extremely new to this world. My last phone was a bb and now I have a Nexus (Verizon). I'm trying to get the most out of my phone and wanted to install the codenameandroid rom to my phone. I just unlocked the bootloader and rooted it (I think). I've been trying to read and gather information on how to do this but I just really don't understand some of the terminology and exactly what I should do. If anyone could provide some step by step instructions for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

[Q] Simple KitKat 4.4 help requested

Hello there! Im here with a request if someone can help with unlocking, rooting, clockwork mod and custom rom stuff.
Im using Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM) Maguro running on the lastest android 4.3 and since 4.4 is out from 2 weeks or so i really wanna get it on my phone even when Google wont update our gnexus with their latest os. I know the current state of the KitKat 4.4 AOSP versions is not 100% stable and mainly those gfx issues when rotating and stuff but ill be okay.
I know there are alot of guides out there but all i need is a simplified one with intel from where to start to where to end it.
There are many stuff on the internet ive already searched but somehow i dont do it because of all the info inside it.
I know to read and before my galaxy nexus i had the Sony X8 using custom rom GDX+ and it worked well everything was easy. But with my nexus now i think there are more things to do now.
All im asking is the easiest way to get it ready to flash the package and the GAPPS. (i already picked the one from here and i have the gapps on my pc) Now i need info on how to unlock and everything with clockworkmod and backup my current os.
Thanks in advance!
No offense, but if you can't follow the guides in here on how too unlock/custom recovery/root then no one in the world can.
The methods showed here are simplest as it gets!!
As a last alternative, try the GNEX TOOLKIT V11.1.0

Hi I second this. I would also like a stable, stock, deodexed, rooted and busyboxed kitkat rom for my gsm gnexus with instructions on flashing and installing gapps. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hey ADDOriN, what's up?
First of all, I found the same problem as you... I spent some hours trying to understand the whole process and honestly didn't reach my goal... The tutorial pointed out by the friend t1.8matt is great and easy, but if you don't feel confartable yet, you can try to follow the steps on youtube video called "How To Root Android 4.3 On the galaxy nexus" made by Manley (sorry, but as a noob, I can't post the link)
Some considerations about:
- the tutorial uses CWM but depending on the version of 4.4, you should use TWRP... The process to apply the image file is the same, differing only in root step
- if your bootloader is locked, in the moment you unlock it, all your data will be erased, so a backup is highly recommended
The GNex Toolkit 11.1.0 quoted by the friend wysefreakz is easier than made everything by hand, but honestly, I didn't find an information if it is or isn't compatible with 4.3 version, so I chose to the "hand-made" method.
Just to say, I used custom firmwares on my old Defy and made the same for a Galaxy S, but I found some doubts to gnexus (even had converted it from yakjuvs to yakju in the past)
I hope I can help you
I would not use a toolkit, as pointed out by many experienced users, they can do more harm than good. Not always the case but it is possible. I you get the android SDK setup on your computer, its actually not hard using adb and fastboot once you learn the commands. There are plenty of tutorials out there to help you with getting it setup and learning about adb and fastboot.
@leocasarin, @t1.8matt, @wisefreakz Thank you guys!
Actually there is no problem for me is to follow slowly the tutorials here and there. I made this thread to ask if there is something i didnt found my rolling on the forums or the internet as general. @t1.8matt yes the tutorial you give me is maybe the one ill follow. @leocasarin i will follow the ideas you said to me and im really thankful.
NINJA EDIT: I just used the video tutorial posted from @leocasarin and i completed everything and i now have KitKat 4.4! KUDOS FOR YOU MATE <3

[Q] Help with Quantum Rom

Hey Guys and Gals,
This should likely be in the dev side, but I can't post there yet...but I do know what I'm doing
...
Mostly
...
Anyways, I have a SGH-T999V.
I flashed Quantum Rom v3 with no problems, the 4.4.1 rom. However, when trying to update in any fashion (thru the build in dev app, download and flash, or otherwise) I keep getting an error in recovery that the rom is for "d2att" and I am a "d2vzw". Does anyone know how I can correct this, or make my phone appear as a d2att? I know the rom works, as it is successfully installed and working with no issues at all. Except this one.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a T999 Tmo version. I can't get it to install at all, simply states the same as yours, it is for d2att. After reading indepth on the dev forum for this rom, I can't find anything or anyone that states a fix to this - they are devs or brains on this matter and appear to just figure it out. I'm not a noob but still I don't create roms either. I also would have posted in there but well, as you see my status isn't at that level.
Sad no one has responded to your post yet since it is what I was looking hours for today and finally found your post, but no answers yet.
HOW do we install the Quantam 4.4 v3.12 rom onto a tomobile phone and in the case above a verizon phone. both s3's. I know some are doing it - as I have read it - but can't figure this out.
Please help???
Thanks

[Q] SlimKat 4.4 Stable -Audio-

I searched. Entirely possible I missed something though.
I'm running SlimKat 4.4.4 on my ATT Samsung Galaxy S3, its the 'official' version. After every reboot I have to go into sound settings and reset my default ringtone and message tone.
Is this a common thing with this rom on this particular device, or am I alone here?
anyone?
did you ask on slimkat thread. might be more info.
err on the side of kindness
theyve got less than 10 posts so probably cant post in the rom thread yet.
ive seen similar posts many times in the past, usually on custom aosp/cm roms, so its not exactly uncommon. I have no idea about the rom you are on, or a fix. (I dont use those type roms)
But search the rom thread, xda and google and im sure youll find some info.

EOS ROM Help

Hello I have ls990 running Eos ROM had it on CM12 but I like kikkat more. I am wondering if anyone has got the g2 or g3s quick remote app and g3 camera app working on aosp 4.4. I had quick remote working on CM12 but it doesn't work on cm11 base. I have searched through every thread and every port and tried flashing every zip I have found... I even fresh installed the FW on each flash... Anyone else look for this? Btw I am not using bumped twrp which I don't think matters. Correct me if I'm wrong. Any help is appreciated... Sorry if I posted this wrong.... I have spent half of a day trying to get this f-er working...
Opps
I really did not see that part. I posted this in the wrong place... I have used xda for years but every guide from froyo up has worked and never had a problem flashing anything so I never posted until the other day. Sorry my mistake......
