HOW TO Overclock GPU!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello family, I've been recently getting a lot of mail on how to successfully overclock a GPU .So figured i would make this thread for you,,And we can all help one another on questions and so forth..
Stock Max frequency is 533
This will bump it to 733 frequency.(800 is max)
First you have to be on a ROM that has (init.d support)
Second a kernel that supports overclocking CPU/GPU like (Perseus O/C Kernel)
Next, using root explorer app navigate to ETC/INIT.D folder put these 733 file into the init.d folder
Now am using ROM TOOLBOX PRO
Go to TOOLS section and go to SCRIPTER...press the + toggle and find where you placed the 733 tweak in the init.d folder and import it.
When it script pops up, press it and RUN SCRIPT once done press it again and SET AS BOOT..
reboot and you should see a notification showing it ran the script,,easy as that..
OPEN the ZIP file and take the gputweaks733max out,,this is what you will use.
PLease hit thanks if this helped..
(thanks to truth77,dafox,bluntman420.for the help)

Excellent been waiting for instructions on this! Will try and report back. Thank you!

Awesome..pretty easy with a guide huh..Lol now watch your scores on benchmarks..not saying that benchmarks are accurate but it will def show improvements.

Cool thanks I got this working...
what about undervolting the gpu?

Thank you.I have had a little confusion about this and you made it clear for us.

i'm gonna wait until he releases an APP that does this cuz i don't know if my stock rom has init.d support, and scripts are too restrictive and cumbersome

Posted on wrong thread

yes they will not match exactly unless thats a valid step, it picks the closest that matches, when I was configuring it I just knew I needed to step up on level higher beccause it had just crashed on a lower level, so I bumped it by 14 or whatever so that it would pick the next step (which I didnt know offhand)
also.. im pretty sure by those values you ran my script not the one in this thread..script in this thread shouldnt even touch voltages

Not that I do any real processor intensive tasks, but I keep my Note2 in Power Save mode 90% of the time and there is no lag whatsoever playing Angry Birds Star Wars. Can't imagine what it would be like with an overclocked GPU. What games you all run that actually tax the GPU?

Use rom toolbox.....its so much easier then running the script app...
And as far as you not seeing the init.d your ROM seems not to support it...what kernel are you on as well?...The develop er of the clean ROM has a mod for init.d support in his thread

Not a 100% sure..but I believe your rom has to have it set up not the kernel..but they work hand in hand though...sounds like your rom doesnt have it support for init.d

I'm new member and I have some question?

Hello. I am a new member of the android. I have a My touch 3g Slide. I want to ask a few questions as follows, for your help:
1. How do I install software?
2. What is root? Can guide me? And what is overclocking?
Thank you for reading this.
First to say welcome.
Please read the rules and top stickys to know appropriate posting.
Root cause depends what device but has info on what it is read ROM dev on this sub forum for specifics to device
Overclocking is to increase the CPU frequency which will make device run faster but shorten battery life and induce more heat.
Install software either via market or placing on storage card and using many of the free File Managers available
PS dont double post have removed other post.

Hi guys. Can someone guide me How to overclock MT3GS? Because i very very very need it. Thank you. My phone has rooted
There's a couple ways you can do it, I don't have my phone right in front of me, but CM7 has an option in that area... with the "dragons ahead".
OR, a popular way to do it would be with SetCPU.

Its pretty straight forward, but if you have more questions, go ahead and ask.

Then your phone can't handle 844. Some phones can do 844, 864 and even beyond, but it looks like your best bet will be 825. Like my phone D: (But it's still faster than 600 )
400 min shouldn't be a problem, but I usually just leave mine at 245. If you choose to, you can flash different kernels and have different governors, like the "smartass" governer. It's like interactive, but better!

I have a question, does anyone else have issues with the OC? I literally cant OC my slide. Anything around 768 and up gives me random soft reboots, and anything over 8 and it's bootloop city. I'm guessing that my cpu just doesn't like OC :/

I think other people have had problems with it, yeah. But then again, once you're past 600, you're in OC country.
Have you tried different kernels?
EDIT: Nevermind, saw in another thread that you had. Ah well :< And also that 768 comes after 600 D:

Okay, I made an update.

If you're doing an initial flash, download both files and replace the patched factoryfs insted of the original.

Has anybody tried WiFi yet? I didn't make the kernel so please test.

Not sure what yet, but something in my update broke WiFi, so I pulled it.

dsb9938,
As you may have seen, VZW Galaxy Tab owners here on XDA are hurting for good Dev's. Thank you for showing interest in our amazingly underrated device. I was wondering if your future plans may include creating a basic ROM like this one but based on the 2.3.5 ROM Verizon is set to release?

Kernels Overclocking/Voltages/Governors

Morning guys. I think I've clogged up Agats kernel thread enough with this so figured I should hop on over here and ask about what's going on.
First of all a big thanks to the few kernel devs we have over here. I understand that we did just recently get source so I'm not blaming anyone for the issues I'm encountering.
All I've been trying to do these past few days is see how far I can max out this phones performance. I'm not concerned right now with battery life. I live in a God awful data/signal area... but since source has dropped I have noticed without even touching a single setting improvements in performance.
So all I've been trying to do these last few days is overclock to 1.4 and KEEP it at 1.4 while my screen is on. I've mostly been using Tegrak Ultimate and Voltage Control and staying at Performance gov. From what Voltage Control is telling me though is the majority of the time I'm stuck at 800 MHZ. Very rarely am I at 1.4 and not only that the phone is barley ever at 500MHZ or 200MHZ. I've tried overvolting up to +75 across the board but that hasn't changed anything. I've tried different Schedulers and have seen a little improvement using CFQ. I've kept my governor at Performance.
I've never really been a big overclock guy. This just started as me seeing how far I can push this phones performance without it melting in my hands. LOL. Now though I'm just trying to learn and or understand why 96% of the time I'm sitting at 800mhz.
Thanks in advance for any feedback and especially thanks to Sleshepic, Agat, and RJ for the work they've put into these source kernels.
I've included a number of screenies..... sorry they are kind of random but it's what I've been posting in Agats thread..... but it gives you the general idea of what I'm getting at.
Thanks.

what ROM are you running? it would seem like you have conflicting scripts running. like a script which is preventing you from using certian steps. And even capping you at 800MHZ. Have you tried a full wipe then flash your rom and agat's kernel again? just wondering if there is a left over script from a perivous rom or battery saver mod. I have been following you on the kernel thread. hell, Ive been using google this to see if i can come up with something. thats I have right now.

Thanks man. You might be on to something there. I'm going to look further into scripts and how they may conflict with Tegrak/Setcpu/Voltages.
This could very well be the issue...... I can't think of anything else it could be.

Well I'm not getting anywhere on this. A few days ago I was testing Manufan's Hooligan ROM(awesome ROM by the way) then did a fresh install over to Mijjah's Goodness ROM. I just asked in his thread and Rwilco12 said there isn't a script in the ROM. He thinks there may be some apps conflicting.
The only thing I have left to do is another fresh install. Judging by the lack of responses in this thread I may be the only one having this issue.
do you have multiple OC apps? like i had to delet Rom tool box when I started using voltage control. same way when I had tagraz. I beleive you can only have on OC app at a time as they will conflict by trying to gain control over the CPU.
Yeah I'm running 0.2.3 and here's mine.

Well I have Rom Toolbox Pro but I'm just using that to change my font. I have Setcpu frozen thru TB and just using Tegrak Ultimate.
When I get home from work later I'm going to do a fresh install. Use Rom Toolbox Pro to change my font then freeze it. Then just use Tegrak and not install Setcpu.
See if that does it. Thanks again for your feedback.

[Helpful Aplication] [Windows] Vsel Calculator

Since alot of people have trouble with Vsel values, i created a Vsel calculator!
This program calculates your Vsel by simple formula !
This formula is used by many other xda (people?)
I hope you find this heplful
OFFTOPIC:
I tried making it with python, but py2exe script got messed up, so i created it with SmallBasic!
Run .exe..it will extract 2 files for you! One is library, and other is the program itself!
EDIT: APPLICATION UPDATED! NOW YOU HAVE TO TYPE HOW MANY VSELS YOU HAVE (3 OR 4) AND TYPE FREQUENCY FOR EACH VSEL AND IT WILL SHOW YOU IDEAL VSEL IN 2mV(+/-) RANGE FOR EACH VSEL!
THANKS TO CRAKERON FOR GREAT IDEA!
ENJOY!

It seems like a very good idea. Perhaps could you give a (small) range of Vsel values (-/+ 2mV) as an output? That could take into account the random tolerance of each CPU chip, and would be easy to add to the formula =).
Idea for the future: maybe collect a database of user's CPU settings, and calculate average values for users who have no idea what to enter.
Maybe even make an android app instead of a windows exe? I'm willing to help if you like, i have some spare time ^^. PM me to talk about it =)
01:00 Edit: i am making a little app, only the layout right now, to show you. I'm testing it and i'll PM you the app. It's my 2nd app i've made =D
02:23 Edit2: here's the test app for those who want to see: http://d-h.st/IHr
As you'll see, there is 3 editable boxes where you enter the CPU frequencies you'll like, a button to launch the calcul, and 3 non-editable boxes which will (in the future) post the recommended results
Just tried this upper levels seem good but i have never run that low on 300 will have a go thanks

Hmm what version of Android are you running? Froyo or GB?
I've just downloaded the app, it installs correctly and works.
Can you install it or simply can't open lit?
I see it has been downloaded a few times, do other people have a problem too?
12:20 Edit: I suspect it may be because you are running a lower version of android? (lower than 2.3.3). I've changed the minSdkversion of the app. I'm hoping it's that... Otherwise it's those stupid certificates they forced me to create for signing the app --'

Asphalt 7 - HiRes gfx + NoLag fix

There is a fix for better graphics and no lag over at the S3 forums.
Has anyone tried it?
[V2 Added! Also Read the last page!Need help guys! ]Asphalt 7 graphics patch!
UPDATE
I am sorry that I opened a new thread for something that already existed.
Anyway, if this is not to be closed, at least I'll try to give some help.
The original guide is here by leelaa so props go to him. I would only like to point some corrections and make it more lightweight.

1. Copy the .obb file off you're device from android/obb/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA7HM/main.101.com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA7HM.obb
2. Using 7 zip right click the file and open archive, now go to data/deviceconfig/ and you will see 1 file (deviceconfig.xml) delete it. It will take about 2 minutes to delete.
3. Now copy the new deviceconfig.xml over where the old one was. Once again this will take about 3 minutes to copy over.
4. Now exit 7 zip, delete the obb file which is still on your tablet and now copy the new one over.
5. Start the game, it will tell you it needs to download 1mb of data (this normaly resets everything we have done but it wont)
6. Enjoy.
I put a lot of trying and error into this to get it working the way it is. If there are any hiccups i will once again edit this file.
UPDATE!!!!!!
Enabled msaa
enabled gamma illuminance
enable high quality car shader
maybe one or two more things.
there is not much i can do in reguards to the enviroment. allthough it does look better.
you should try a quick race on huwai and you should see the differance. i noticed a slight frame rate drop every now and then, nothing to bad though and i am enjoying the game very much the way i have this xml set up.
i reccomend you pull the xml you are using now and keep it on youre computer for backup reasons, incase you think the game is to laggy.
Link Updated - Good Graphics, NO LAG [https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B2EOPJ1y9uirdlI2MG0xYkIyQjg
UPDATE 2!!!!!! - Better Graphics, YES LAG
this as hire map enabled. i disabled some other graphices to make this even remotely playable. i would not reccomend you keep using this si its laggy. this is just to show you what the game should look like. infact it should look better than this but as i said i dissabled some effects.ie gamma illuminance. post process render textures. dynamic car shader.
hi es map link https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B2EOPJ1y9uirLWZMamx1cnJqN2M
please do not write back to me complaining this is laggy. i allready know this and there is nothing i can do. we allready have the best we can get with the previous release.

Just needed to swap over a deviceconfig in the game obb...
Here you go,, its a few pages back...

don't mean to hijack your thread, but does anyone have a loading circle flickering problem? I've never played this damn game yet since I bought it and too late to refund.
Running CleanROM 1.2.5, franco kernel (latest), updated binaries to JRO03S. NO OC or UV made. Tried this with motley kernel too, fixed permissions, wiped caches, but no luck.

eveyrtime I copy/paste the deviceconfig.xml to computer\GT-I9300\Phone\Android\data\com.gameloft.android.SAMSUNG.GloftA7SS\files , the game asks to me to redownload some files :/
the file deviceconfig is erased and I ve the original file deviceconfig.xml :/
A little bit disapointed
I dont see why 3D games on android have no video config so i can turn on off what i want, only game that i see has that is GTA 3..gamelooft games are most retarderd ..they play on nexus 7 with most ugly graphics and on other tablet i have game enables much higher graphics even it has much weacker gpu..adding setting is one day job
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You could overclock the device though? I saw someone with a ROM that allowed to clock.
Probably some apps that make you do that too?

Yeah Gameloft sucks with tablets.
Spider-Man and The Dark Knight run better on my HTC One S than it does on my Nexus 7.
Now there's no need for this, with the last version of Asphalt 7 (1.0.5) the graphics are just like in Ipad and now it appears that uses the quad core, its veery smooth now :victory:
Here some caps now, without editing any file, just stock game configuration.
