I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and this only happens after a period of time where the LTE will just stop working but if you switch to CDMA it's working fine?
To go a step further I've wiped the phone and restored to stock. Once that's done LTE is working fine.
To go further again, I grabbed a different ROM and the exact samething happens, I'll be able to be on LTE for about a day and then the service stops and if I switch it to CDMA I'm good.
Just wondering if anyone else here has noticed that.
Cheers,
did you verify your APN settings?
i'm using a Bell version GN2 but on Fido and i can flash all day everyday and 4g has always worked.

The APN settings are always the same with Bell. They don't change.
HSPA+ will work but LTE will die after a little while. (This only occurs on other ROMS). If I stay on the stock rom there's no problem.

On a different note... I noted that if I have SAMBA Fileshare on I have strange things that happens DATA wise.... I'm still looking into it and dropping logcat and looking at different possibility.
At this point it's looking like something with the SMB Fileserver I have on the phone. (Will know later on)

im not saying the bell apn has changed but ive found that sometimes when flashing roms, the apn settings arent included in the rom and have to manually be entered.
This happened alot when using my galaxy s2 lte.

So I'm going to buy a T-Mobile Galaxy S4 tomorrow. I'm locked onto AT&T for a few more months (so I'll unlock this new one and buy it out right). When done I'm going T-Mobile (or Straight Talk).
Either way, there's a ROM developer over there who's ROM I really like that he's developing for the AT&T S4 (ShoStock) and I'd like to know since it's essentially similar hardware should it be a simple flash over?
I'm coming from an AT&T S2 and I know it was simple "hellraising" the International ROMs and they'd work on the AT&T variant. Can we do the same with the S4 (since they are essentially similar hardware minus additional radios on the T-Mobile variant).
Thanks!!! :laugh::good:

As soon as you get your Tmobile Galaxy S4 Unlocked you will be able to flash the AT&T ShoStock rom without any problems.
It will not need hellraiser or anything else and it can be flashed just like any other custom rom using CWM or TWRP recovery..
The only thing you will loose by flashing any AT&T rom on an Unlocked Tmobile phone is the free wifi calling feature.
All the Tmobile Galaxy S4 custom roms have the wifi calling feature in them.
If you flash any of the AT&T custom Galaxy S4 roms none of them will have the wifi calling feature.

Gotcha. What's the free Wifi calling feature? I won't be a T-Mobile customer for a few months and still on AT&T's network so I don't think I'd benefit from it.

I've been flashing AT&T AOSP based roms on it... I've been flashing AT&T sense roms on my T-mobile HTC One.. I haven't flashed AT&T TW ROMs on my Tmobile galaxy s4, but as I mentioned, I've been flashing AT&T AOSP based roms on my tmobile galaxy s4 with no issues at all.
I have ALSO been flashing TW i9505 ROMs with no issues at all. (which is probably more applicable to your question)
I'm on AT&T but have these tmobile devices for complicated reasons.
Best results i've had with my HTC is flashing international roms and selecting T-Mobile as my device type in AROMA, then once in the ROM, i just fix the APN to "ATT Phone" for full LTE speed, etc.
Same goes for i9505 TW ROMs on the GS4. The reason I bring this up is that I could never get WiFi hotspot (internet connection sharing) to work on either t-mobile phone when choosing AT&T as my carrier in AROMA (well that's not entirely true, it seems radio-related. older roms were fine, but then with a recent base-change, I encountered this issue with hotspot). I found by choosing T-MOBILE in AROMA, and then disabling wifi calling when in-ROM (to avoid the nags about invalid SIM type) and changing APN to ATT Phone, I have everything working perfectly.
I hope this helps you.
This is the WiFi calling feature:

If you have any tmobile plan you have a certain amount of anytime minutes, with free wifi calling whever you use it, it does not
subrract from those anytime minutes. I am usually home which means that 90% of the time that I use my phone I use wifi calling
and it does not reduce the number of minutes I have on my plan.
Wifi calling is really great, even if you leave it on all the time the phone switches automatically to normal cellular mode if it looses
the wifi connection.
Then when a wifi is connection is within reach, it starts using that again automatically which makes it really easy to use.
So for all practical terms, I leave my wifi calling on all the time. If I drive away from home the regular GSM/3G/4G etc. turns on.
Best of all the quality of the incoming and outgoing call audio is exactly the same using wifi or using the cellular network.

LTE is now available for both AT&T and Tmobile LTE capable phones. Even an unlocked Tmobile S3 can now get LTE data
in a lot of the larger cities.
One of my friends has an unlocked AT&T S3 phone and he is on the Tmobile network so he always flashes tmobile custom
roms, when he flashed a tmobile rom which came with the aroma installer he selects "Tmobile" since he is a tmobile customer.
If he would select AT&T in the aroma installer he would not get LTE data or 4G unless he changes his APN to tmobile's APN.
In fact, next time you flash a Tmobile rom without the aroma installer to an unlocked AT&T phone with an Tmobile sim card
you will see that it will automatically display the proper Tmobile APN after flashing without the need to change it.
Same thing holds true if you have a unlocked Tmobile phone and a AT&T sim card and flash a AT&T rom without the
aroma installer when it gets done flashing and reboots the phone when you check the APN it will have the AT&T APN
displayed automatically too.
Before I got my Tmobile S4 I had a AT&T Unlocked S3 I747 phone and when I switched to the Tmobile network and put
the Tmobile sim card in the phone while I still had a AT&T custom rom flashed in the phone everything worked fine and
when I checked the APN it displayed "T-Mobile US" without the need to change the apn.
So from then on, when I flashed any custom tmobile rom with the aroma installer and selected "Tmobile"
and the phone always had the correct APN in it after flashing without the need to manually change it.
When I flashed a tmobile custom rom without aroma installer after flashing it also displayed the proper tmobile apn.

So I recently got a T-Mobile GS4 for use on AT&T. I have set up the APNs, etc. and everything seems to be working, except for one annoying thing:
The device seems to be reverting it's Network Mode to WCDMA preferred instead of LTE/GSM Auto. I have tried setting this in Settings as well as in the Testing mode menu and it will not stick.
This happens every time the phone is booted, as well as when a call is made. When the phone is booted, it takes a long time to connect to the network, and when it finally does it is set to WCDMA preferred. I can then change it manually to be LTE/GSM auto.
When I make a call, the network drops from LTE to H/H+ as expected. However, after the call is completed, the network connection drops entirely and reconnects a short time thereafter but on WCDMA preferred.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, or have any ideas? If it makes any difference, I am running the latest CM10.2 for jfltetmo, without any other modifications.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I should add that the IMEI on file with AT&T is indeed for an AT&T LTE phone.

What I would do to solve this problem is to first go into recovery and make a nandroid backup.
The problem you are having is due to the fact that you are running CM10.2 rom which perhaps
is not 100% compatible with your specific phone and or carrier.
What you need to do is to flash an AT&T custom rom OR better yet flash Darthstalker's
AROMA Multi-Carrier rom and select AT&T after the rom starts flashing.
That way it will not only flash a proper AT&T rom but it will also flash the
proper kernel which you need if you want to use it on AT&T as well as
setting it up with the correct APN's which will stick.
The Darthstalker rom can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292054
This rom has a lot of extra features, settings and options making it one of the best roms around
especially for someone like you who wants to use a tmobile phone on the AT&T network.
Give it a try, I am certain it would perform really well for you without any issues.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info. Looks like that is a TouchWiz ROM though... I'm looking for an AOSP one... Will look more

On second thought it would be a good idea to try this to see if the problem is eliminated. In the meantime, do you know of any AOSP ROMs that might have the same type of solution?

I've had my T-Mobile GS4 on ATT for a few months now and have had no problem with LTE after they had my phone's IMEI, and I was using the correct APN. This is the case on many TW and AOSP ROMs that I've tried. Good luck!

same here i have an m919 rooted stock mdl rom on at&T and have no such issue mine stays on lte.. both with phone or pta ap.. Have you tried reflashing and factory reset before setting stuff up...
Thanks to everybody for the info. I finally got it working:
I first backed up to the Touchwiz ROM mentioned and made sure data was working. Here I had to manually add the APN and then the settings stuck after reboot, calls, etc.
Then, I reinstalled CM 10.2 for jfltetmo. Magically, the setting is now sticky.
Thinking about it, I got the phone, unlocked it, and immediately installed CM without attempting to use the ATT sim card at all. Perhaps TW does something to make this stick, but I have no idea.

Greetings everyone!
Signed up so that I can hopefully help someone else in need with their LG G3 phone using the Straight Talk 4G LTE Verizon sim card.
After many hours of flashing roms and trying out various things, it turns out for some reason other variants of the stock roms like Bliss Pop, CoudyG3, and Skydragon will not work with the data. I can still use my phone and make calls and i can still get text messages and even pictures sent through text messages, but for the life of me data would NOT work.
The only rom that did work again was the Jasmine rom. To my understanding it works pretty close to the stock verizon rom that comes with the LG G3. After the flash, BOOM! Everything worked and data came back to life.
I noticed the APN settings is very very different but this rom wont let you go in it to see it's settings. Surely there is a way to import/export the APN data to push on over to another custom rom? Just weird that after putting this specific custom rom data happily worked again.
BTW, if anyone tries to activate a verizon lg g3 with straight talk, be careful. Though their stupid website said that the phone was already registered with another tracfone provider/service, I was still able to get the phone to work. If after entering your MEID/EMI or whatever the numbers are and the straight talk website spits it back out at you, CALL straight talk. I got screwed and used up the network access code which somehow got lost into oblivion, but turns out that they themselves can manually add the Verizion 4G LTE sim card with the network access code card. (I bought the 4g LTE sim card package from wal mart). As long as the phone is in good standing, it will work!
Thanks. Hope this helps someone else out trying to get it to work with straight talk. I will try and see if there is a way to export this APN setting. I was told by straight talk that you don't need an APN set, but i think they are lying.
Peace!

Back again,
Happy to report im using skydragon Rom with straight talk. Turns out you do in fact need to set the apn in the settings. Just add this apn
acct.tf.gw6.vzwentp
This is the apn for the Verizon 4g lte sim card when you use it. I didn't have to reset the phone but now data works great.
Hey question. I have a Straight Talk S3 currently running CM 11 kitkat based rom and things work great but I found other roms I want to install one of them being a Pac-Man custom rom but I have no data. I have a Verizon CDMA 4G LTE sim coming in acouple days just need the apn settings. Could anyone help me out with this? Thanx in advance for any help.
Sent from my SCH-S968C using xda premium
Surely it is the same APN setting as above. Try it out once you get your Sim card. Also, that S3 being a different phone may pick up on the access point names when you try another rom and set itself up, but if data is still not working, then try that APN I posted on the first post.
Also, be careful that you are actually connecting at LTE speeds as long as your area has it. Flashing to another rom I was only connecting at 3G. Turns out that once I tried another rom, you have to set the preferred network to LTE, then give the phone a reset. It took it a moment after reboot, but LTE finally showed up.
Depending on your phone, there are other settings to be set in it's hidden menu settings using the phones dialer. Just google around.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
I have an unlocked version of Fire Phone and have flashed the almost latest version of the Cyanogenmod ROM. I am using at&t wireless service but it seems that I just cannot use LTE. Based on other information I think the phone supports all the bands at&t is using. The network the phone is using is HSPA. I tried changing settings in the phone but it did not help. I searched carefully using related keywords but have not found anybody talking about this, and I wonder whether this is something too simple to ask or nobody else has ever encountered this problem. I want to know if there is something I can do to use LTE.
Thanks.

I have seen some issues about CM based ROM's and ATT LTE. Did you have a full LTE signal and good data speeds on the stock ROM before you flashed the CyanogenMod ROM?

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I had already flashed CM before I switched to att so I do not have information about that. And currently I am not quite willing to flash the phone back to the native fireOS just for this because HSPA still gives good data speed...

Have you checked your APN settings and verified that it is setup correctly to use ATT LTE? Also, was this phone ever used on ATT before with the sim card you put in it? If not, then what will have to happen is this, I think: I found this excerpt which I believe is what will have to happen.
You WILL NOT get AT&T LTE on you phone unless your account is first provisioned with an AT&T LTE Phone. There is NO WAY around this. You must buy/borrow an AT&T phone that has LTE capability, put your SIM in that phone, and let the system provision your account for LTE automatically. This is NOT something that customer service, or a store clerk, can do for you. Once your account is provisioned for LTE (you will know because the LTE indicator will show up on the phone), you can then put the SIM card into your Fire Phone. At that point, the device will automatically select the "phone" APN, and you will get LTE (identified by the "4G" indicator).
Hope this helps
