Does anyone know of any settings in any roms that have the ability to lock specific pictures/videos in the native gallery or any good 3rd party applications that can block specific pictures/videos in the original gallery (aka not use a separate 3rd party gallery)?? please help
any help???
try ilock.
Quickpic have an option to exclude pictures.
You can hide media folders by putting a file named ".nomedia" in the folder you want to exclude in the stock gallery.
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
I've used this in the past to protect apps (including the gallery):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwyLDYsImNvbS5zcC5wcm90ZWN0b3IuZnJlZSJd
Works great, but I hate that they haven't updated to a more holo-like style.
Some one has naked pictures to hide lol

HTC's Photos app doesn't show the photos on my SD card and neither does Gallery (the cooliris Nexus One app ported to Incredible). How do I get photos to show up? Arr, it's driving me nuts!

I fixed this using the free "Gallery Enabler" app from the Market. I definitely recommend it!

I tried that app and thought it was great too, until I couldn't find any of my music playlists.
I think it hides folders from other applications besides Photos.
If you have problems, open gallery enabler and check all folders before you un-install it.
Then the right way to fix it is to open the Photos app on the phone, clck on the menu button and select "Settings" and then "Default Albums" then select the options you want from there.
If you're wondering how this application works, it probably just deletes/adds the hidden .nomedia files from folders. Those files restrict applications from having access to the media by signaling the android media scanner to ignore them. For instance, if you put one in the root of your sd card, the system would ignore any media on your entire card.
In theory, it's a great idea.
The problem is that all of my music is organized in folders and each folder contains the album art for the album.
So blocking the folder with the album art so that it does not show up in the gallery also blocks the music file from different media applications.

Ah, you're definitely right. All my music stopped showing up. However, once I went back and enabled all the folders and applied settings in Gallery Enabler all my music showed up again and the photos were still fixed. I suppose you could use Gallery Enabler once to "force" Gallery and Photos to see all the folders.
Changing default albums in HTC's Photos app did nothing to make media show up again. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Un-installing gallery enabler brought my music back but not the playlists, I had to manually re-build all of my playlists again.
I've recently added quite a few applications to my SD Card to free up memory. Ever since then my Gallery is flooded with necessary 'pictures' from the apps.
Would adding the .nomedia folders remove them from my gallery without affecting their functionality?
I am not sure what the correct solution is but do know that Gallery apps such as QuickPic allow you to ignore folders. You just need to long press them and choose ignore. Works great.
It's kind like confusing to see so many different folders of picture showing up in my gallery......i've tried using 3rd party app from playstore. But all these different music folder just keep showing up.
I know that LG default Gallery allows u to hide them, but tapping hundreds of folder to hide is crazy....

5 BEST ANDROID APPS TO HIDE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS
1. Hide Pictures Keep Safe Vault - is one of the best apps to lock away your personal pictures and videos with ease. The app makes it effortless to simply store away your videos and photos in a safe vault. The separate gallery is kept hidden from the regular ones. I have used the basic version of the app for a while and it worked perfectly.
2. Gallery Lock (Hide pictures) - is one of the most popular apps around for Android. Almost every friend of mine recommends this free app for daily usage. I was pleasantly suspired to see the robust feature list of this app. Gallery Lock comes with almost every feature you would want from an app that hides photos and videos for you.
3. Hide Something - Photo, Video - With Hide-Something, your public gallery remains available to your friends, family, and coworkers. And your hidden images are only for who can unlock. With Hide-Something, you can customize your gallery when you want to show different photos to different people. With Hide-Something, you can share your photos and videos easily, even hand over your cell phone to others and no worry about your privacy.
4. Gallery Vault - Hide Video&Photo - comes with a simple and understandable interface and a good design. You simply need to move the images to the GalleryVault and they will be kept safe behind a lock code. The app also has the option of making the launch icon hidden; virtually making it completely concealed from your device.
5. Hide Pictures & Videos - FotoX - allows you to store your private pictures and photos in a secret gallery. If you want, you can take a picture directly from the app itself and it will be stored instantly. It is a great way to avoid the extra work of manually selecting pictures and hiding them in a secret vault.
I can't seem to be able to remove all the extra homescreens so I have to remove all the shortcuts on them one by one. I also can't seem to be able to make folders in the app drawer as any kind of movement on the icon immediately tries to place it as a shortcut on the home screen.
Failing that, what suggestions do you have for alternate launchers or has that feature not been properly implemented yet?
Also why aren't my Google photos restored from online backup showing up in the gallery app?

You can set alternate launchers as default without any issues (need to use navigation buttons instead of gestures by default but there's a workaround) on v3.16 / v4.13.
I use Poco Launcher and these features are supported in that.
The gallery app has a weird sorting order as well that you can modify in its settings, however, if you can see your restored photos in Google Photos, I would recommend changing the default gallery app as well. I use Gallery Go but I think Photos works as a default gallery as well.
