Google Now/Voice talkback not working. Tried everything. Help Please - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to get the google now/voice to talk back and it's not working. I've tried everything. Yes I've searched the form and tried every solution and still nothing is working.
I'm on stock ROGERS 4.1.1 ROM
What I've tried:
Language and Input>Language>English (I don't have an option for US)
Language and Input>Google voice typing>settings>Choose input languages>English (US)
Language and Input>Voice recogniser>Google
Language and Input>Voice search>Language>English (US)
Language and Input>Text-to-speech output>Google Text-to-speech engine>settings>Language>English (United States)
(when I listen to example it speaks in an english voice)
Google Now>settings>Voice>Language>English (US)
Google Now>settings>privacy & accounts>search on google.com (checked)
My Media volume is turned all the way up.
None of the above worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just remember it only works till you reboot. Then you have to run the app again.

Oh okay. I assumed the app sets all the languge specifications and you never have to run it again.
So I assume I have to keep the app, I can't install it.

[Q] Voice instructions google navigation

Hi there,
Does anybody know how to activate voice instructions using the Google navigation app? I tried today, it navigates good, but I get no voice instructions. Volume was set to max. I can't seem to find settings for voice navigation anywhere in the app.
Couldn't find an answer searching this great forum.
Thank you.

does google support VOICE NAVIGATION in your country???? it doesn't support VOICE NAVIGATION in many countries like mine, India, its useful for basic ROUTING function.
or you can use the Locations App from your DHD with Premium navigation license (has to be purchased), that'll provide you voice navigation.
hope that answers your query.
I have used it before but not with the navigation app
Yes, google does support voice guidance in the Netherlands. However I can't seem to set it anywhere. Navigation volume was set to max. I really wan't it to work, because further it works amazing. Have already latest version of google maps. Also tried to empty the cache which didn't help either...
Ok I now discovered that the voice only works when my phone is not connected to my radio via bluetooth, very strange! I would still like to receive calls while navigating..

[Q] Google Nav : no voice indication?

Hello,
I've got a french SFR version of DHD, with stock rom.
So pico TTS is already installed and it seems to work when i ask a sample text.
But when I go to google navigation, with sound enabled, I get absolutely no voice indication... Does anyone have this kind of issue? this app is quite useless without that.
I can still use htc navigation premium (with turn by turn indications working by the way), but I was a bit surprised that google nav wasn't able to do it...
Thanks for your help if you have a clue...
This morning I've made a test on a Desire (not HD) with a colleague:
Same issue : no voice indication in Google nav...
Does it really work in other Rom than english ones? How?
I'm in the same boat. I installed SpeechSynthesis ENG-USA Voice from the market and after that I lost Google Nav voice.

Just open the settings for the keyboard and install the language u need. You can enter the settings by holding the button next to the space bar on the left. It has a t and pen sign on it
Yes its Phoenix rom!
I too am having this problem after upgrading to 4.3
The chinese and english language were already enabled in settings after the upgrade but the space bar slider to change them is not working
I have found a work-around I have to disable all accessibility services and it comes back.
The problem is one of my accessibility services is lightflow which I don't want to turn off.. So annoying I have to disable this service everytime I want to change keyboards and re-enable it..
Bug with lightflow or samsung?
I tried everything but nothing seems to work.

[Q] n7100 unable change input language in keyboard mode

Hi.
I've recently updated to 4.3 official. My problem is I m using two languages for sms. Language changing arrows do not appear in space bar and I m unable to change input language. I can only change input language when I switch keyboard to touchpad. Plz help.
you need to check under Settings/device/accessibility/service and disable any services there, I had the same issue and turned out the reason was the greenify service, no idea why
hope this helps

Question [HELP] Call Screening Setup Issues

I'm having issues getting past the "Download a language update to finish setting up Call Screen", been trying for the last 48 hours.
Clicking it returns "The update isn't ready yet, wait a few minutes and try again"
Phone: Pixel 6 Pro
Google Phone Version: 72.0.406921769-publicbeta-pixel2021
Service provider: EE
Country: UK
The odd part is, using the Public Beta version on my Pixel 5, I set up Call Screening without any issue, downloaded, followed prompts and done.
I've had a look at a few threads referencing Call Screening and I've checked the following...
GBoard Language: English (UK)
System Language: English (UK)
Google Assistant Language: English (UK)
Google Account Language: English (UK)
I've tried deleting cache and storage for the Phone app multiple times yet still fails with the above error.
I've tried doing it on WiFi and on 4G, end result is the same.
Any ideas I'd appreciate...
is there a public beta on the Pixel 6 Pro? Where is that from?

Just enrol into the Beta via Play Store and that's the version you get. (On Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro)
Default version is 72.0.406921769-pixel2021
Public Beta version is 72.0.406921769-publicbeta-pixel2021
I don't think there's any difference between these two versions, it's just that I was enrolled into the Beta on my Pixel 5 and it carried across.
Thanks - i was on Beta on Pixel 5. assumed it would have rolled that over .... assume nothing
My issue is still open for anyone new to the thread. Hoping someone can help.
Have the same issue on Pixel 6 Pro in Ireland. Pixel 2XL worked fine before moving to 6.
I don't even see the option for Call Screening - Pixel 6 Pro, UK, ID Mobile.
Forgive my ignorance, but is this related to the automatic call screening or just manual call screening - or all of the above? According to this article Google rolls out Call Screen to seven more countries — but there's a catch:
Google Pixel owners in more countries can now filter out robocalls, albeit manually.

Yep, it's related. We're trying to enable Manual Call Screening.
@OP, sorry for small OT, but can you tell me if you can see the Caller ID (company name showing instead of number) when you are on 5G/4G? This is not working on the Pro 6 for me if I'm not of WiFi. It's like the phone cuts off any Internet access when it has call incoming...

Haven't tested it yet since I keep resetting Settings in an attempt to get Call Screening working.

I spoke to Google tech support yesterday, they kept claiming this is still not available outside US, Canada and Japan...
I suspect its a slow roll out.
I still not got it working.

Manual screen calling is working fine with my phone, central Europe. So the rep is definitely clueless. But all Level 1 reps are clueless, you could also say useless, but don't do that, that's rude.

I spoke to them and confirmed it was and they told me what to troubleshoot and if it didn't work then to wait 48 hours.
Works fine for me in the UK but I has to set all my languages to English UK and then clear cache and storage on contacts then reboot and it worked after that.
Call Screen option has been updated recently to this now. The 'Voice' option appears but still fails to download the language pack when I click it.
When I receive a call the "Call Screen" option appears but clicking it doesn't do much, doesn't transcribe what they say and the Accept/Decline call buttons don't work at all.
Does anyone have any idea on how to complete the setup so the feature works correctly?
I am experiencing exactly the same problem as you... did you find a solution for this?

As of a few days ago it was magically configured.
My suggestion to you would be not to reset the app/cache, be in the beta and just leave it.
After 1 to 2 weeks it should configure. It takes time... I don't know why, but it took me a while.
