[Q] Forcing usb debugging - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So my screen is broken and i am trying to use [email protected] but i can't enable the usb debugging. Is there any way to enable it on the computer?
I don't want to flash a rom because i want to keep the data.

I have the same problem, screen on my wifes E4GT is broke but phone seems to work. When I connect via USB it shows the two devices but no drives show up. Tried kies and it says to enable debugging mode, which I thought I did but I don't remember.

[Q] usb debugging

Did samsung change something with how usb debugging works?
I ask b/c I went to the store b/c my phone suddenly stopped showing debugging in the notification area and the store said its probably something samsung did with a recent update b/c none of their personal epic 4g touches showed the debugging icon while connected to the pc with the usb debugging enabled.
I can get my mother's htc hero to show that it is debugging but when i connect my epic touch it just shows usb storage, no debugging icon.
Tomorrow is the last day I have to take it back to the store and exchange it if there is some kind of problem with it.
extra info:
usb drivers are installed(from the samsung site)
using usb cable that came with my phone
can use usb storage
PC recognizes my phone
stock EK02 - straight factory
previous experience:
htc hero
samsung moment
samsung intercept
when I use "adb devices" in the console no devices are listed. the ASDK is installed correctly. the manager at the store said maybe ASDK isn't compatible with my phone(I was thinking why wouldn't be?).
within the first 5 days(was updated to EK02 the first day) I the debugging icon would pop up while in debugging mode. one time i disconnected the usb connection b4 ejecting it from the taskbar in windows(no files were being transferred though), ever since then debugging hasn't worked. I though having the phone hard reset would fix it but nothing has changed.
It is kinda irritating if debugging isnt working that means i cant use adb, correct?
Is this just a problem I have or is this common?
If i flashed a ROM over would that possible fix it?

[Q] Help connecting with QPST

Hi All,
I can't seem to get QPST to work with my Epic 4g (trying to change the PRL). I've followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898628
The issue is (as far as I can tell), the computer isn't using the correct drivers. I can't get the phone to show up as a com port regardless of what UART/USB settings I try, charging/USB tethering, or USB debugging enabled/disabled.
I've attached two pics from device manager, the first is using USB tethering, the other putting it in Charging mode. I've even tried reinstalling the Samsung USB drivers and manually updating them with the phone connected -- but no luck (it says the best drivers are already installed).
Any suggestions?
Found the fix: need to plug in the phone with PDA/USB selected and switch to MODEM/USB after. Otherwise my computer doesn't even detect a USB connection.

[Q] USB Debugging grayed out

I want to run Helium to connect the device to another phone or to my computer but it requires USB debugging turned on when connected via usb and USB debugging is grayed out in settings. Anyone know how to get it to turn on?
From the Developer Options screen, turn off Developers Options, then turn it back on. Now you should be able to check the USB debugging box.
Need to disconect the cable to be able to tap it.
Thanks very much! Worked like a charm.

ADB Debugging No Longer Connecting to PC

I'm stumped with this one. My HTC 10 no longer will connect to my computer at home or at work when I have USB debugging enabled. I don't get any entry in device manager. I'm running the 2.28.617.8 firmware w/ Viper 4.3.1. I utilize the universal adb driver. When debugging is enabled, the phone message says I'm connected to a slow charger. I have verified the ports on both computers are functional by attaching other devices. I have the connection settings for MTP enabled. I also tried revoking the debugging authorizations in the hope it would reset everything. The only way I can find around it, is to turn off usb debugging. Then, when I connect the phone it will mount properly and I can transfer files. This is ok for the short term, but is not ideal. Does anyone know what I might be missing?
I had this same issue after restoring a TWRP backup on a replacement 2.28.617.8 phone. RUU and restore all my settings mostly by hand fixed it.
Do you have HTC Sync installed? Try installing that, connect the phone and on the phone grant HTC Sync permission.

Question USB Debug Mode

My windows 10 PC only recognizes my P6P when I have usb debugging turned on. I can turn usb debugging off and it's not recognized, tried a reboot and still have to have usb debugging on to transfer files via usb cable. Not really a problem as I don't mind usb debugging on all the time but just wondering if there's a solution with it off. Seems to be the only issue I've found in 7-8 days of use.

From what i have seen even with android Auto have to have debugging turned on and have to go way down list to enable data. Default is no data. No reason to ever turn off debugging. mine has been on since around 2010.
Go into system devices in win 10, (I never got passed 7 x64 lol) with fone usb debugging turned off, what devices have an exclamation mark?
Then turn on usb debugging while viewing system hardware devices to spot any changes..?
In dev options, in fone, or wherever it is in yours, check usb settings, you know, where you can set usb to mtp, or file transfer etc... check those settings.
edit, and one question, if usb debugging is turned off, can you still charge fone from pc?

Yes, that's always the first thing I turn on but just thought it odd that it has to be on to transfer files.
