I got a T989 from a friend and I hard reset it, im not sure if it worked before but now I'm not able to turn on the wifi, like when I tick it, it would go grey then say error.
Is there any fix for this?
First of all is the phone rooted? Rom? Android version?
Yes, the phone is rooted, and I have tryed on GB, ICS, And JB, Could it be a hardware problem, and is there a way to replace the wifi intenna or something?

Put the stock ROM on the phone, do a factory reset. If this doesn't fix your problem then maybe you need to call Samsung as you have a HW issue.

flashed the stock rom still no change the wifi isn't working.
somebady have other ideas????
It sounds like a hardware problem
have you tested other devices on your wifi network .....
If it was just not connecting to your network . That would be fixable. But since even on the stock rom . It will not even turn on
Deffinately a hardware problem. Take it back to the store you bought it from.

somebody know way it's happaning???
fixed!!!!!
just want to let you know that the problem was fixed.
it was a hardware problem and the wifi chip was replaced.
I had the same thing happen with my SGN i'm waiting for Negri electronics review my RMA right now. But its good to know that they fixed yours.
I've been dealing with this issue for just about 2 weeks, and i have no clue what to do...
The Wifi on my phone will not turn on at all. Even after a factory reset (many factor resets). So after looking around I thought rooting the phone and upgrading to Kit-Kat would help. But even after doing that, my phone still would tell me the phrase "turning on WiFi" and would never turn on.
So i flashed back to 4.3 and unrooted my phone to send it to Samsung. Samsung USA claims that they cannot take my phone b/c its a global phone based on the IMEI, but the problem sounded like a hardware issue because a light doesn't flash when i try to turn on the wifi.
LASTLY I went back to the people who sold me the phone, and they claim its a firm ware issue, and that i have to bring the phone back to 4.1 for it to work.
Is this wifi problem firmware or hardware issues? If its hardware, is there a way to make the phone 4.1 without rooting it?

If it's the international version you can get the official factory images from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Don't know if you should use the takju or yakju version, but I've heard they should both work.
The instructions on how to flash are on that page as well
That being said I don't think flashing the old rom will fix it. It's probably a hardware problem.... but, you never know
Hi, I am trying to fix my friend note ii, i dont know what he did to the phone but the wifi bluetooth and the light of the soft keys does not work, I went to the *#0011# and wi fi and says is disconected... does anyone have a clue about this? a been looking al over the places and I couldnt find anything.. I updated my S4 sgh-m919 to 4.4 theres some wifi issues its dropping. "internet connection unstable"
try doing a hard reset , but before you do that back up your stuff, wipe the cache , I assume you have stock recovery ?
I tried that, right now I want to downgrade

Yeah I did reset and many other things such as build prop, turning off some setting of wife scans. I really think nothing will work. So I want to downgrade from 4.4 to 4.3
S4 sgh-m919. If there's a Web for it show me. Thanks.
Its a "feature" that turned into an annoying as hell bug. Theres really know way to get rid of it and no you cant downgrade
Try switching your WiFi band or frequency. How did you update? I never get this unless I really do lose connection
also a solution could be to take your phone to a samsung experience store at best buy because there they have the tools to diagnose and probably fix your issue, you could try at least and see what happens, it's just an idea
I have a strange problem. I noticed that certain apps (mainly the system apps like Play and Maps) don't work when I'm connected to wifi on my home Asus AC66U router, even though the bars are blue.
What's odd is that those apps work on both 3G and on other wifi networks. That should mean there's a problem with the router somehow, but every other device (PC, laptop, another Android phone) works fine. This has also been a persistent problem so the router doesn't just need a reboot.
I used to run a custom ROM so there's a chance something got messed up when flashing updates, but I eventually did a factory reset and returned to stock. And I've tried clearing the system apps' caches of course. Any ideas?
Might just need firmware update.

Thanks. It did indeed need a firmware update, but that didn't solve the problem. I can try to test it again at a Starbucks or something tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it's just this router and this phone.
