Please guide me, tks!

AAHK lets you downgrade, then root. Google for it: "attn1 aahk."

Tk u, I try now

Read and make sure you understand the guide, do exactly what it says. And make sure you got usb debugging on.

yes, the AAHK is the best way, as it gets root and s-off. a root method has not yet been found for the 2.3.5 dhd, so (if the is what your dhd is running) the hack kit first downgrades the firmware, and then(when you run it for a second time) roots. just MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ THE EFFIN MANUAL!!!!! which is included in the hack kit. when i used the AAHK on my dhd i had to run it three times, so if nothing seems to happen, just try again.
some of my favourite roms for the dhd inclued the codefirex preiodicals, sabsa prime(i think that the thread for that is down atm). if you want the bleeding edge(but a little unstable) try the cfx 4.2 alpha releases, or randomblames 4.2 preview.

[Q] How do I root version 2.50 on a branded DHD with S-off already?

Hi there,
So I've been using my Vodafone branded DHD for 9 months or so on stock Froyo and then decided to root my phone. After a bit of reading, it seemed Radio S-off was the way to go so I did that on software version 1.32 using Advanced Multi Tools and got Radio S-off and SuperCID. All was working fine however I had to upgrade as I had some Exchange 2010 issues which was fixed in Gingerbread so did the OTA updates which took me to software version 2.50 and now I'm no longer rooted.
So a few questions I have that I couldn't really find an answer to:
How do I get root back on 2.50 considering I've already got Radio S-off?
Do I need the goldcard since it's branded or not? Or just the PD98IMG.zip approach?
How do I get temproot first so I can back up all my data, apps, etc first before wiping or downgrading it? I tried the Temp Root option here but it didn't seem to work.
Here is all the details
Branded on Vodafone - CID was (and maybe is again as I cant check in the bootloader): VODAP021

Would really appreciate some guidance on how to proceed...
You can try using gingerbrick if not use an RUU to downgrade to version 1.32 then use one click root to root your DHD
Yeah you will need a goldcard
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using XDA App
I am not sure you will need to do all that as you already have s-off. That is the most important part. The new hack kit doesn't even require you to downgrade anymore or cause you to lose data. I have been putting my foot in my mouth lately with not so correct advice so I won't say too much more. But I sure wouldn't start over till someone responds that has more knowledge of this. Especially with all the updated tools available at this point.
As Agoattamer mentioned you already have S-OFF and presumably Radio S-OFF too.
The only beast holding you back is attaining root.
I believe fre3vo will root 2.50.xxx.x builds.
From THIS thread, grab the Downgrade.zip from the end of the first post.
Then follow this adapted guide.
Connect Desire HD to a computer. Charge only, USB Debugging enabled!
Open up a cmd and go to Downgrade folder, execute commands:
Code:
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell
./data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start FBB00000 -end FFFFFFFF

That should root your handset. Now just install SuperUser from the market. You'll probably need busybox too, again grab that from the market after SuperUser.
Let us know if that works.
Credits to jkoljo for the original guide.
@4tifjaved, thanks for your response. Gingerbreak unfortunately didn't seem to work.
@Agoattamer, thanks for your suggestion. I tried what @andyharney suggested but it doesn't seem to have become rooted - e.g. Root Checker still says it's not rooted and I can't use a screenshot application as an example.
It scanned through various regions but in the middle of all the text that it showed, it had:
Code:
Potential exploit area found at address fbb6cc00:1400.
Payload verification failed.
...if that means something?
Any further guidance would be appreciated.
Any further suggestions?
I've searched through the forums but am not sure what to try...
Have you tried this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821
After reading abit of the advanced ace hack tool it says not to do it if you have s-off but also says it wont brick but you might have some problems. But if it gives your root then you can flash a new rom, etc via recovery.
Ace Advanced Hack Kit worked

Thanks for your suggestion to try the Ace Advanced Hack Kit. I had seen that kit previously but was a bit concerned with the 'Please do NOT run the hack step if you are already S-OFF' note it had. I think the warning is mainly for if it's S-off and a custom rom.
So I went ahead and used it to root - followed the instructions and within 5 minutes was rooted! It's a great kit, worked well and preserved all data.
Thanks for your help!

In search bar look for "downgrade from 3.13 sense 3.0" There are a few threads about it and advanced ace hack tells a LOT about it so really bro, do a better job at following instructions.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD with Beats Audio using XDA
the ace hack kit can downgrade. not long ago I unrooted my DHD in so I can get the official ICS ( rooted again because I can't wait for it without knowing when and not having root ) and the kit asked me to downgrade. I accepted and it did the downgrade by itself. it even allows you to choose from 4 official roms to download and install.
So just read the guide and follow the instructions of the AAHK.

To unroot your device? Just flash a RUU or use the Superuser menu to unroot permantly. That will do it for good.

[Q] Help with rooting my HTC Desire 2.3.3?

Hi,I'm a total noob with all of this, can anyone help me root my Desire HD? it has 2.3.3 and Sense 2.1.
Also,I have this information from doing the whole menu button+volume down key

Hope this helps
On a high level: you'll need to run a RUU to update your phone first. If you cant find the latest one for your phone's region, make a goldcard to run any RUU. Then, Easy Ace Root Tool.
I'm probably not going to provide any more detailed information. All three steps are clearly documented on the forums, especially in the Ace Think Tank.

I have sync installed so that should be the drivers and not sure if carrier locked When I start it up it has the HTC splash screen then a Telus splash screen so maybe carrier locked. I have unlocked it though the HTCdev site and then relocked it
You need to re-unlock, flash a custom recovery from fastboot, and flash the SuperSU.zip from recovery.
