[Q] Multi-Screen On Note? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've got the AT&T SGH-I317, ver 4.1.1 - but there's no Multi-Screen option available. (At least not that I can find.) Friend of mine at work has a Sprint Note II, ver 4.1.1 and his has a Multi-Screen option.
Anyone know if/when this feature will be rolled out for AT&T phones? Or am I missing where to toggle it on?

This feature hasn't been rolled out to our phones yet. Hopefully it comes soon or is built into a ROM.

I don't believe it is out yet, both sprint and t-mobile received ota update to add the feature. AT&T is slacking!!

We will probably get it soon.

[Q] AT&T or International

I'm in a unique position to trade my International Note II for a brand new AT&T Note II. I can't make up my mind, so I'd like to see what you guys think.
This is how I see it:
Advantages to International Model:
No Bloatware
Tethering works out of the box (though it's easy to download Foxfi)
Timely updates
Has split screen already
Advantages to AT&T version
LTE
While LTE is nice, my HSPA+ speeds are plenty fast. I'm just not sure it's worth it to move to a branded device for faster internet. What do you guys think? I know the AT&T model will get the split screen eventually, but it will likely be months and every update after that will be on the International model long before the branded model sees it.
Do you root and/or flash custom ROMs/kernels? It really depends on your use case. Personally, I am staying stock for a bit, but I'll eventually root; I am on AT&T.

I don't really do custom ROMs, but I have been rooting lately just to block ads (hate them). So custom roms isn't really a factor.
Can anyone confirm if AT&T removed the display mode switcher (i.e. dynamic, standard, movie, etc.) from theirs? They did in the GSIII, though I have absolutely no idea why they don't just leave it in. It hurts nothing.
Id root and run international firmware with lte

The International version won't run on att lte bands. I say you would be better off getting the att version and then running something like clean rom on it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Agreed. Get an AT&T, root it, flash with the international, and get the best of both worlds.

I know you said you don't do customs ROM, but doesn't make sense to so. AT&T Note II with a custom and you get ALL the benefits (and more).
I wasn't gonna root, but went ahead because I wanted the multi-window. Now I can use multi-window with any app I want, have no bloat, LTE and get better battery life. Extremely happy ROMed Note II.
I just switched from the International model to the ATT one. The LTE alone is worth it plus you can port ROM's.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Made the swap today and rooted. Now I'm just on the hunt for the right ROM.

[Q] Anybody know if T-Mobile HD Voice works on Note II?

As mentioned in title there is a new feature out that can be read about here > HD Voice News
I'm wondering if anyone knows whether it works for Note II as well. They only list 3 phones on the story, however it doesn't explicitly exclude other phones. Just curious.
I was wondering that myself, my coworker had me call his friend that was on a Nexus 4 and the call seemed to be very clear, but I couldn't tell whether it was "HD Voice" or not since there is no indication of it on either of our phones.
We have the required chip, but I don't think the required settings in the firmware are active.

Did some research found this quote "The new SKU will apparently launch before the network goes live with the LTE radios disabled, but once the towers are up and delivering the juice T-Mobile will issue a software upgrade to enable them. Those who bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 may not need a new phone, though, as that phone did come with the dormant LTE radios during its first run. We imagine T-Mobile will issue a similar software upgrade for it"

Ok, but that is talking about lte radio, not the hd voice chip.

I work for t-mo
HD Voice only works, at least for now, on the:
- HTC one S,
-Nokia Lumia 810,
-GS3
GN2 is yet to be confirmed but what we do know is that it only works between T-MO phones and it HAS to be amongst these 3. ****FOR NOW AT LEAST****

If the GS3 can do it then we can do it. It just needs a patch for the firmware to use it. Which will probably come out when we have our LTE radios turned on.
What does it have to do with LTE getting switched on. Current GS3 doesnt even have an LTE radio.

Read the press release again. Current GS3 owners got jipped. T-Mobile is re-releasing the GS3 with an LTE radio.

It doesn't directly but when they patch our phone to turn on LTE they will probably enable hd voice also. Radio has nothing to do with HD voice. HD voice is dependent on the sound codec on our phone, but it makes sense to do it when you are already patching the system.
I expect the exynos security patch and maybe even 4.2 before LTE.

Well I expect LTE very soon. What would be the point of turning on LTE in Vegas if you have no phones that support it. They plan to do it in the next couple of weeks.

Well I can be the optimist and you can be the pessimist. I don't see the point of rolling out two or three software updates in a one year when they can address it all in one big update. The international note 2 doesn't even have 4.2 yet. I bet we see 412 with HD Voice and LTE radio enabled first.
Yup - we'll see. Btw, battery life might take a hit if the LTE radio is switched on. We might not want it on too soon.

My friend has an AT&T Note 2 in an LTE market and he still gets about 16 hours of regular use. I get about 16 - 18 with regular use so we will see. LTE radios have gotten better at using batteries. I remember that the first killed batteries like they were going out of style.
The other piece I wondering about is what happens when the LTE radio is activated in a non-LTE market. Does it go searching for signal in some way like the regular cell radio in a poor signal area. That is murder on the battery.

Good question. I am sure they will put a toggle to turn it on and off. How does the Note2 LTE and GS3 LTE handle it, I wonder.

Tmobile put the S4 on the back burner?

I have come to notice tmobile isnt updating the firmware...I belive we are two updates behind. My buddys att s4 just recived its THIRD update. It included new camera firware and many enhancements. So has verizon and sprint....anyone know what tmobile issue is? I called both butbof course there is no info...

Couldn't agree more. This is starting to piss me off. I said in another thread that it seems T-Mobile has been extremely concerned about building it's customer base, but is screwing over those customers after they've signed up. To not have received the app to SD update yet is BS.
Maybe they're waiting to do a big update to directly 4.3 or they are just slacking off... '.'
I agree...I just dont understand why things are so secretive around tmobile.. and a 4.3 update is months away...we are just waiting on bug fixes...

Yeah it been 3 weeks mate since the app2sd firmware update. Im getting annoyed. But the phone still is pretty sweet I cant complain. In my opinion I think T-Mobile might be waiting on the 4.3 why send out multiple updates when you can kill several issue and add many enhancements with just one update? Idk either way im getting tired of constantly checking for THE update every day

If you guys don't mind losing wifi calling, then just go to the 9505 thread and flash that firmware. I don't use wifi calling so I don't mind. However, if you rely heavily on it, then I can see the issue

I am currently over there partly for that reason, but I agree with all the previous posts - TMo is dragging their feet and dropping the ball. Canada got the latest firmware update last week - would really like to see it here.
what's included with the new update we're missing out on?
Apps to sd card, I believe HDR video recording, and general speed and stability enhancements.
Hey the only reason us low life's over at att are getting so many updates, they are trying to block our bootloader fix..haha
I would take a tmo device in a sec, if I had the chance.
I find carrier updates are mixed bag. I remember the last T-Mobile update on my old Galaxy Note 2 blocked the unlocking through the service menu, but also added LTE & HD voice calling.
I would prefer a big update than a biweekly update and bugged.
Chances are its a big update (340+ megs) and still bugged, and took 3 weeks longer than everyone else.
yeah the updates usually block exploits like on the note 2 there was a trick to carrier unlock the phone with the stock firmware than tmobile released a update that blocked it ATT is worse though
Maybe T-Mobile variant's Firmare isn't as buggy as other carrier's

Agreed. And I feel that T-Mobile may want to push out 4.3 before everyone else so they might be focusing on that. Never really know. Plus look at all the other carriers, they're getting locked bootloaders, unrootable kernels etc. So we just gotta wait.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
No offense to anyone, but I feel the "I'd rather wait for a big update because the other carriers are pushing out locked bootloaders" argument is moot. If T-Mobile is going to lock the bootloader it's going to happen no matter the update size or importance. If they pushed one out now and locked it we'd only have more time to crack it.
I also think it will be one big update straight to 4.3 . Just hope that we dont loose the awesome features we already have.

I have a hard time believing we see 4.3 in the next few months. My wifes note 2 doesnt even have 4.2 yet.
I really don't think so. 4.3 is coming to the nexus first and then Google edition phones. And then a few months later they will push it out to the carriers. T-Mobile isn't updating the s4 because they're focusing on their new plans and features like jump. Which sucks for us. But whatever.

[Q] ATT LTE Version and 4.2

I was told at the local ATT Store that in order to use APP to SD I need to get 4.2.
I was also told that I could do this from Samsungs web site.
Unfortunately I went to the website and was unable to get 4.2
Can anyone tell me how I can get 4.2 on my ATT Note 8.0 LTE version?
Thanks
