[Q] removing sprint proxy? - Sprint LG Optimus G

Has anybody been able to remove the Sprint Proxy on our device? I typed in "getprop ril.MSL" into terminal emulator and instead of getting my phone's MSL, I just receive the # symbol. I came from the Ep4t and this was the method to get the MSL.. not sure if we have to use another method for this beast.

I work at a Sprint store and can get you your MSL. Would just need the ESN and the phone number. Obviously I'm off for Thanksgiving but feel free to shoot me a PM.

Never give out information like esn and phone number over the internet, wow.

I just wanted to know if anybody has been successful doing it for this phone.. and how
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app

Lol np, just trying to be helpful. You can just do it the easy way and go to your account on sprint.com, swap devices with another one and when you swap back to the LG it will give you a "six digit number" which they dont tell you is your MSL but it is.

Or just call Sprint or chat with them online and they will give you it to you. I have had no issue doing it that way when I'm not at work.

Im on Boost too. They all work, you have to choose the one you want to try.

Seeing as how you have boost, you probably don't have 4G. And if you don't have 4G...every rom under the sun would work for you.

If you want 4g on this phone you need to subscribe to a wimax service and a change the wimax realm and wimax Mac address to match that of the modem you have activated on that wimax service.

All I did was get a 4g mac address from a friends Epic Touch on Sprint and kept the realm to sprintpcs.com since it is a sprint mac address and I was good to go.
Could I use my Mac address from my clear 4g modem I have at my house? I never connect to the wifi so maybe?

Yes you can but as long as you have active service. But both devices can't be connected to the same tower at the same time.

just edit the mac leave all fields as default and that is it.
If you have a mac from a different carrier then sprint, make sure you use the proper realm for that mac

I thought you were alright,
Ok did you follow the dir from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447615
This is how I did it, I d/l the derp.zip, then unziped it, took the CT file and replaced the CT in the system/apps made sure the permission were the same as the one that got replaced. I have root explorer so it was easy to copy/paste and set permissions.
Reboot phone
Then I dialed ##DEBUG# or ##33284# entered my msl, went down to ( WIMAX CT ), tapped ( Open Device ) waited a few for the info to load. After that I entered my mac using the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx hit (set). Then backed out all the way to the home screen.
Reboot Phone
If your Realm is not the same from the carriers mac then of course you need to change it.
dial ##3282# tap (view)/(WiMAX) enter MSL, tap (REALM) if you dont have the 4g radio on then Realm will be blank, if you turn it on just back one screen and reenter the (REALM) and it will be there. If you need to edit tap the menu on the phone and a window at the bottom will pop up (WRITE Rlm) enter the info save back all the way out.
Reboot Phone
Again these are the steps I did other might have a different way.
Good Luck, It took me awhile to understand the process also, so don't give up hope.
**cough** cough**

Unlocked s3 and wanting to switch to prepaid

hey everyone i'm new to this so please bare with me..I have a T-Mobile Samsung galaxy s3 and I got the unlock code off eBay for a pretty cheap price, so far it looks liked it accepted it . I wanted to switch over to net10 or simple mobile. I heard about if not paying my T-Mobile bill they will block the imei number. If so will I be able to use it at all on those carriers I stated, or will I just have to use it on H2o or Att.
Also as far as the apn settings is there an application that will help? Thanks in advance

Just means u cant use the phone back on t-mobile other company's dont care if the phone has bad record I had and s3 before I got the one I have now it could not work with tmobile because the person that sold it to me did not pay bill but u can use it on att simple mobile net 10 any (gsm) cell phone carriers

OK thanks a lot. Also I did hear that simple mobile is run by T-Mobile so will it work on simple mobile if Imei is blocked?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-t999 using xda app-developers app
Yeah it will work. Simple mobile doesn't even ask for imei. Only if you want to put it there is the option but its not required

To be fair, they're going to know your IMEI even if you don't disclose it to them during the sign-up process. Just by using the phone it will send that information out when you communicate with their cell towers - so I'd imagine if T-Mobile shares its block list with Simple Mobile, it won't matter if you disclosed the IMEI at signup - they're going to know it anyway.
That, and the Big Four is actively working with the FCC on a cross-carrier database - so unless that falls through at the 11th hour, that's on the horizon in the next year or so.
Just sayin'.
What do you mean by the big four carriers is working with the fcc in the next year? Please explain, thanks

Yeah your right. I just called simple mobile and they said even if it is blacklisted for not paying my bill, it will still work because its an unlocked gsm phone so it wouldnt matter, just pop in my sim card and I would just honestly get edge network which is slower than 3g speed.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
It will work if they don't use T-Mobile IMEI blacklist and continue not to do so.
It seems like that's the case, at least for now.
Just saying, it doesn't have anything to do with if the phone being carrier unlocked or not - IMEI is tied to the phone's hardware, not the SIM card.
I went through something similar with T-Mobile, and most of the reps don't know what the block list is let alone how it works.

Flashing to page plus failed - how to revert to stock DFS settings?

Hello XDA!
While I was trying to flash my Sprint S3 to PagePlus, I couldn't get the data to work so I gave up and want to change the carrier settings back to stock. I accidentally deleted the screenshots I took of the DFS Tools screen with stock settings displaying. How can I find the original settings to set to, or can a factory reset do the trick?
Thank you,
Kevin
Why don't you try taking it to a page plus store an having them flash it for you? I did it costs me $50 but it was worth it. Everything works including 3g data. Just trying to help.

##sprtn# (##77786#) should revert all settings to sprint. Youll need your spc/msl code, I was able to get mine using msl reader app from the play store, just add to enter incorrect password in ##data# then read it again!

How to sell my Sprint Galaxy S3

Hi... This is my first post here. I have a sprint galaxy S3 and I want to swap it for a GSM galaxy s3. So what should I do? I just call Sprint and ask them to stop the service? how will the person buying my phone port his/her sprint number to the S3 I sell them?
Just sell it on eBay or something. If the account is in good condition, no problems. If not, Sprint will flash the phone. If you advertise it, make sure you post the esn is clean (assuming it is).
You want to be sure all your account info is wiped. It's more than a factory reset. I don't know how to do it, but I suspect Sprint could tell you how. They helped me when I was activating my last used phone (mopho).

Thanks! but how do i find out if it has a good or bad ESN? I'm using the phone right now and I don't see any such message. But is there a specific way to find that out?
What's ESN? is it IMEI?
If you are using it, you have a good ESN. If you let the account with a debt Sprint will give you a bad ESN or easier, your phone will be blacklisted, and nobody would be able to use it, unless they flash to another carrier.
In other words
GOOD ESN = More money.

I used it for like 2 days and i got my nexus 4 shipped now. So I don't want this one.. I thought nexus will never get shipped. I will now go for tmobile $30 100 minutes plan.. that's why I'm selling it
You have to close your account with Sprint, and pay the current bill. Then you can sell the phone and the person have to make a account or change current device with Sprint, but not use the same number.
Sent from my O=O
Read the ESN (many programs that can do.this) and if it matches the number on the battery then you have yourself a 'good' ESN
If you have had it to days I would jyst return it. Cancellation is 350 if youve had it less than 6 months with sprint. You got a 14 day return policy. Or if you dont care about your credit put an old Sprint phone in place of the S3...that will free up the ESN to use for someone else and just not pay your bill.
