Speaker Dock for $15 - Xoom Accessories

Newegg has the speaker dock for $15 now, free shipping. I think I'll get another, just to have another dock and charger for work.

There's actually a surprising amount of bass.. It's even got a bass port on the back, and the air coming out is impressive.

I purchased the dock. Thanks a lot.

Bought it for ~$20+ on Amazon. Sound quality's better than I expected - somewhat on the level of X-Mini with better clarity. (And it's loud!)

how many types of docks are there ?
I saw a picture of the dock of mz601, and it has HDMI port. But mine doesn't have this, so how many types of docks for Xoom? Tks

There are currently 2 OEM docks from Motorola for the Xoom: The Motorola Speaker Dock HD (89445N), and the Motorola Standard Dock (89444N). These are compatible with all models of the original Xoom except the Family Edition. You must have the Standard Dock, as it does not have a HDMI port. However, the picture you saw must be the Speaker Dock HD, as it has a HDMI port.

I just have to say, I have the dock with speakers and it's the most useless piece of garbage. The speakers couldn't sound worse if they were coming out of a crappy phone

I think that's a bit harsh. Okay, compared to my phone, it's a lot harsh. But no, it's not near as good as, say, my Altec ipod dock. But it's not that bad. And it's worth the discounted price just to use as a dock/charger.

Any link?

Thanks for the advice on the dock

That auction says "like new" condition. It does appear to be the OEM dock though.
I just got an OEM dock off eBay that came on Tuesday. It is a little goofy to use, not really a one handed in and out kinda deal for me yet but I do love it already. Mine was about 42 shipped with a Cigarette adapter. I think the adapter was used (or just oolllddd stock) but the base was brand new. Bulk Packaging.
Main downside .. I just had to spend 70 bucks on a Bluetooth headset! (ok didn't have to, but why have a car dock without hands free).
I have this one. Very useful. Works great

I received my car dock today and its definitely the HTC car dock its identical to my friends that he paid $60 for. Came well packaged not in original packaging . Very happy with it now I just have to wire it in so I don't take up my cig lighter spot anymore. Also have to wire in my new Belkin Bluetooth audio receiver.

I say, just buy a cheap one universal dock. I bought this one from TJ Maxx for $8. Mostly because it fits any size phone and leaves the ports open on the evo. The OEM one wont fit a phone with a case.

Must haves?

I just ordered my TB, I want to know what accessories I should buy to make it the best phone on the market.
charger...
other than that...i dont use anything they gave me. not the car charger, car mount, screen protectors, and now not even the double case..
i recommend a tpu material case (jelly-like yet somewhat hard plastic material, NOT silicone which attracts lint and sticks to things) for $10 or less from amazon/ebay and a cheap screen protector from the same sources.

Agreed 100%. They should've sold it with the extended battery already on it for $299.99 in my opinion, but I'm sure that would have made some people think twice about buying it to begin with.
I always break my car chargers too, so I bought a little car usb charger and plug into that, havent had a problem since and I can charge anything now.

Yeah I have a little USB car charger that lets me use my own USB cable. Great since I can swap between my Micro-B cable (for the TB) and another cable such as say the Zune cable.

Finally I didn't miss the deal on this thing after 7 months.
And now it's back up to $116. Does anyone know how often they drop the price like that? Or if it was a pricing error?
Does anyone know if this would work with the Xyboard? It looks like the connections are the same, just that it would mount portrait.

Just to answer your question, sentry bullets. Less than $20 sound like you crammed a Bose surround sound system in your ears and they block out about 90% of the background noise. They come with different sized "slugs" they look like a .40cal shell with a rubber bullet on the end. I bought a pair for a cheap fix when i ripped the wire out of my other pair and never bought a new set of Sony's cuz they sounded so good.

I just grabbed mine one night when i ripped the wire outta my Sony's on a rack in Walmart. I have no complaints I use em everyday cuz they're cheap enough if I destroy em ill go buy 3 more pairs instead of spending another $100 on Sony's that the wire pulled out of when i stood up and hooked it on a rack. They were the ones that wrap around the back of your head so they had some leverage to break against but still. I can tell u with the sentry's in and no music I can't hear my wife and kids nagging. With audio on I can't hear my .40 cal glock 17 discharge

Bluetooth ones will more than likely have all controls (volume and answer buttons) working. I strongly recommend the Apple Earpods though if you care about the microphone. I have tried many highly praised wired/BT headsets and none of them have usable mics on the N5.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CredDeal-X-Series-Foldable-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B00CQ2W20Q
Currently using these Bluetooth 4.0 Headphones with volume adjust buttons, mic, and a power button. Relatively simple. One piece of wire that connects the two pair of headphones and a small battery in the two earbuds that can play about 4-5 hours of music streaming over Bluetooth. I usually work out with these, so I had to get a pair of Bluetooth headphones that are light! So I can testify to their quality! Sound is solid as well, the sound is fairly close to my Klipsch S4 (II) earbuds. Headphones? Meh, I never buy bluetooth for those haha.
I couldn't find the US link to them, but I figured this should be a good lead. :victory:

These headphones are better sound quality and cheaper. They also come with 3 button controls. This is a way better buy then spending on 60 monsters. I'm an audiophile and use this for the gym and to beat up. My regular studio headphones are vmoda m100s if that helps you identify my music quality.

Yeah, I'm not an "audiophile" (I really, REALLY hate that word) but I am an audio enthusiast (been in the audio industry for 15+ years), and I gotta recommend staying away from anything Monster or Beats branded. You are paying 10% for the headphone, 90% for the brand, and they generally sound like crap.
You want good buds for a good price, go with Yuin. IEMs- Shure or Westone. Cans- Sony, Beyerdynamic, higher end Sennheiser (their low end is crap), Grado, some AKG, HiFiMan, certain V-Modas. Portable supra aurals- Ultrasone has some good ones and the Koss Porta Pro's are pretty much unparalleled for their price and I'm pretty sure that they have ones with mics and controls now.
Bottom line, if they are mainstream and all your friends say to buy them, don't. The best values can be found in brands that don't spend millions on advertising.
