i tried installing a new rom on my note 2 and now its stuck on the ( Samsung galaxy logo)
i got root using the all in one tool kit . the phone worked fine after root on stock room.
then i went into recovery ( holding volume up + power + home button)
proceeded to do factory rest, followed, by wiping cache.
then i wiped system and tried installing the jedi 3 rom
the phone shut of and got stuck on the Samsung galaxy logo
i tryied the going back into recovery with no success ( holding volume up + power + home button)
i tried ( holding volume down + power + home button) and am able to get into download mode
odin is detecting my phone but i have no experience using the program since this is my first Samsung phone
can anyone please help step me through the process to bring my phone back to life ?
You need TO download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969551
Which is the stock firmware for your device. You need unzip it to get the .tar file out. If its already in .tar format just open odin. Put phone into download mode.....not recovery
1Click pda. 2Click that .tar file 3hit start
And flash that file. Dont touch anything else in there or you will have a brick brick brick for real
And by the way...its not bricked so dont worry. If it was bricked it wouldnt do ANYTHING.
I promise you that after you do this it will work again. Just let it do its thing and dont touch anything.

Ok did it finish flashing the aboot boot cache system....all of that?
It takes a good while for it to finish just let it do its thing its very important not to interrupt this process. Also make sure you have good drivers installed. But it seems that you do from the line that says ADDED
You can root again when it is finished and everything seems to be working
Also you may have had a bad download
You need to redownload that jedi rom file. Dont use that one again or you could just have to do this whole thing again.
Check md5 sums to verify good files

i rebooted the pc and phone and retried your steps and it worked like a charm
now as of now i re rooted the phone using the all in one tool kit
installed Clockwork Recovery, SU, and Busy Box
and have the jedi3 rom on the root of my sd card
any advice on rom installation ?
Yes reboot the phone once normally.
1Then wipe data factory reset in recovery
2 wipe cache partition
3Advanced...wipe dalvik cache
4 flash rom from sd card
5 optional....you can wipe again but I dont see the point
6reboot
If you get problems go back to recovery and fix permissions.

I just did a trade with someone and got his Epic 4G Touch. He mentioned the phone was rooted but I didn't catch what rom he had on there. The phone was working fine but had all of his information on it, so I did a factory reset so I can get all of my stuff on it. Once the phone rebooted, it shows the Samsung loadup screen with a yellow exclamation point at the bottom of the screen, then goes to a screen that says "Android" on it, then it seemingly turns off. I can't get the phone to load up at all, it just goes to that Android screen and goes black. Any ideas on how I can get this back up and running? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.
Hold power and vol down, then hit vol up and you should be in odin mode. Just flash a new kernel and rom with that using odin. There are plenty of en in the development section. I like stock rooted deodexed rom with LoSt kernel

Thanks for the response. I did that and it shows a screen that says "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!". I presume I have to flash the ROM from my home computer since I'm at work right now. Is that normal that you would have to reflash a rom after doing a factory reset? I did that on my Evo that was rooted and the ROM that was on the phone originally still loaded up like normal.
FYI: it has Zedomax v3 for the kernel. I think I will try out the stock setup you suggested once I get home.
in most cases u dont realy need to do wipe date( factory reset) but i dont think is the wipe data messed up ur phone. i could wrong tho when did a factor reset did u wiped the internal storage too? that might cause the problem

When you have a custom rom you never want to do a factory restore as it is not a factory rom ..... Use odin to flash a stock rom or download one and put it on micro sd and use cwm to install ... Vol up and power

I didn't realize it would do that. Is it necessary to have a microSD card to install a new ROM? Also, I am looking to have the stock software on this phone, but still keep it rooted to be able to use the hotspot. Would this be the correct link to downloading that? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282415

Yes that is the rom for installing in cwm...., now about sd card go into cwm and mount internal and hook up to computer with usb .....the newer cwm versions can do this some of the first one could not .....if your computer then sees the phone put room on internal and flash if not then you will have to odin or use card

I'm not entirely sure. He doesn't remember what ROM he had, only the kernel (Zedomax v3) that he had installed. I tried doing the deodexed package first and nothing happened. When I went to the stock package it changed the boot screen to the Sprint version but just loops endlessly. Had I not done the factory reset I would've had more details but I haven't been able to load up anything since then.

So I rooted my phone and installed cwm and forgot to do a backup so that's not an option. The ROM I downloaded won't install and gets aborted and the phone is stuck on galaxy s 3 screen. Did you use odin methid to root your phone? If so then use that same tar file and flash via odin again. I suppose you know how to get to odin
Sent from my SGH-T999
I rooted it by flashing a zip I put on the internal SD. I bricked my vibrant back in the day and there was files I had to use in odin in download mode to unbrick but I don't know what to do now
Ok so go to development section search and find the tar file to flash via odin(id recommend getting the one that got root included) and flash via odin. Get to download mode first pull battery then put it back again. Hold volume up(down not sure) home button and power button to get to bootloader mode. Then connect phone to pc via usb cable and flash via odin. Make sure to install the drivers so the pc can recognize the phone.

Seems to me that the Binary Count is not the problem, but the file that you are trying to flash. Redownload it and try again.
What exactly is bricked about it? Boot loop, FCs, Errors?
Are you able to get into recovery mode?
A bit more info might help.

Thanks guys n gals
It's an SGH-T999
I have tried every ODIN put out on the market they all end up with a failure to write
I have tried 2 computers, 2 cables all the different ports
I have wiped all the Kies off the two pcs
I have wiped the data/cache
I have even run cclean on both computers
I understand that I cannot use a jig on the Galaxy S3?
I have no idea if the binary counter has anything to do with the inability to write.
I have tried both custom rom and stock downloaded from Samsung, from this site and from another website
all .tar files have been okayed by ODIN but have failed to write.
I am at work so if it takes me a little to respond I apologize. I am going on day three without a phone and it's driving me nuts.

I'll try to answer as best as possible.
It is stuck on the Samsung Galaxy SIII logo when restarted or rebooted
I can get it to either Recovery and Download mode. There are no back up restore files in recovery mode to restore from obviously. Yes, I have tried to delete data/cache and dalvik cache as well. I have downloaded from this website for custom roms and from samsung for the stock firmware. I have tried another android development website for custom rom. all downloads have failed at the Odin write stage.
What is FCs?
Odin Error code: Failure to Write
So I got my Note 2 a week or so before Christmas and rooted it within a couple of days. All has been fine until recently, where it's been crashing a lot, and yesterday it died. Now it just boot loops permanently and can't be stopped without removing the battery.

From what I've read I'm a victim of Sudden Death Syndrome, which is a problem with Samsung firmwares at Android 4.1.1 and is fixed by updating. Obviously, since I had rooted, I couldn't update the phone and as I wasn't aware of SDS I didn't update away from it myself. Now my phone is bricked and I'm at a loss for what to do.
I live in the UK and my carrier is 3, if it helps. As I said it is rooted and the Custom Binary Download is at Yes (1 counts) so I can't just send it back to 3 and have it replaced. I'm fine with flashing another ROM (I've been planning on trying Paranoid Android) but I don't have a bootloader installed.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I've already tried flashing CWM and it just won't work. I tried to go look up TWRP but their site is having an SQL database error so I can't get it to try. Is there any chance at all of it working if Clockwork Mod won't work?
I don't see a Samsung logo, I see the Note 2 splash then it reboots and shows me again...ad nauseum.

Don't waste your time with CWM or TWRP or any other custom roms
Just flash a stock firmware. After restart, hold Volume UP + Home + Power buttons until you get into recovery mode, then release them.
If you cannot get into recovery mode, most likely you have internal storage error.
Probably partitions (or mbr) are corrupted. There is nothing you can do.
If you get into recovery, do a factory reset.
Hello there,
I got a Samsung S3 that is stuck on the installing adroid logo.
When i start the phone, the samsung logo shows up and after that i see a adroid logo installing something( see photo ), and at 24% the phone shuts down en start the same thing again.
I can't enter the hard-reset menu ( vol up + home button + power ).
And i did a research on google but nothing similar to this on the web. Can you guys help me with this?
Thnx
Plug into computer to make sure you don't run out of battery. Then look into ODIN should be good after that.

This guide will get your phone back up and running properly.
Easy and sure way fix your problem - Here is s step by step guide:
Download the newest pre-rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 Jellybean v4.1.2 rom: T999_UVDMD5
After downloading make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file.
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
• Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
• Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
• Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
• Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
• Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
• You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
• Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
• Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
• Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
• TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
• If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
• Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
• Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
• You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
• Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
• (It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
Good Luck!

Ok, first, if you want root, make sure you flash the root66 version of that firmware. The one h ou posted is not rooted.
Here is a step by step I posted a few days ago. Use whatever makes more sense to you, since mrjuncky also posted a similar one.
1. Download Odin 3.07 (Link in my sig)
2. Download latest firmware (root66).
3. Unzip Odin and the root66 firmware. (Use 7zip) (the firmware should have a .tar.md5 extension)
4. Run Odin (no need to install)
5. Boot the phone into Download mode.
6. Plug into the computer. In one of the top left boxes you should see it say COM: ##. If not, install the USB drivers from my sig and try again.
7. Once detected, click on PDA, then browse to the extracted firmware.
8. Verify ONLY F-Reset Time and Auto Reboot are checked.
9. Click Start
It may take up to 10 minutes, but the phone will automatically reboot and you will see Odin say PASS in the top left box. Unplug your phone and thats it!
Good Luck!

If you cannot turn the phone on then mobile odin is useless to you until you can.
The important thing to know is whether you can get into "Download" mode.
See if you can get into "Download Mode" by follow these instructions:
1: Turn off your phone or remove the battery for 10 seconds and re-insert it.
2: Press and hold “Volume Down + Power + Home” buttons at the same time for a few seconds.
3: After you see the Samsung logo release the buttons.
4: Then you will see the Warning screen, Read the warning before going to proceed.
5: As the given on screen instruction, press Volume Up button to enter download mode.
6: There you will see the Android logo and text saying “Downloading, Do not turn off target”.
7: If you want to exit download mode, just press Volume Down button.
If you can get into download mode then you have nothing to worry about.
Be sure your battery is charged.
He can get download mode, but when flashing the stock firmware it freezes right after starting and after a long while will eventually fail.
@op, before trying to flash anything else, plug your phone in while off to make sure you have enough juice.

So last night I upgraded to 4.3 from stock 4.1.2 through OTA. The phone boots, but I get the message "Unfortunately, S Suggest has stopped" and when I close that dialog, it pops up again almost instantly. If I am sneaky, I can get past the lock-screen, but that is it. It also spontaneously restarts.
Getting past the lockscreen reveals that not only is S Suggest continually crashing, but many other programs are as well. I didn't want to try anything to fix this without first getting some advice for fear I'd make it worse.
When I had 4.0.4, this phone was rooted. I lost root through the 4.1.2 update. CPU tuner continued to work after the 4.1 update, so I never bothered to re-root. Could this be causing an issue with 4.3?
Have you tried using Odin to reflash the stock ROM to fix the issue?

DO NOT DO THIS... Unless you want a brick. Once you are on 4.3 bootloaders you're stuck there. Any attempt to Odin will result in a hard brick (which can be recovered via SD card now)
You can flash any rom you want to via custom recovery as long as it doesn't modify the bootloader it is OK. But do not even think about using Odin.
Odin is now a Nasty 4 letter word. ODIN=HARDBRICK

First off, thank you for the reply.
I have only ever flashed roms via Odin and honestly have no idea what custom recovery means. Is that something I should have set up beforehand? If this is fixable, could you point me to some info on how to do this?
I was hoping that the solution would be as simple as a factory reset, but I guess this is not the case?

Yes a factory reset should do the trick. Don't flash anything just boot into recovery and factory reset. Sometimes these problems occur after firmware updates especially if you were rooted previously.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk
If you're still having issues after a factory reset do a search for how to install custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) I personally prefer TWRP some prefer CWM. So you can flash a rom only without a bootloader. I can link you to the rom I am running now if you need me to. It is very stable and I can't find anything wrong with it as of right now.
But be warned if you are under warranty you will void your warranty by doing so and no amount of using triangle away will keep Samsung from knowing that you voided your warranty.

Ok, I tried a factory reset. It boots to the welcome screen but it is unresponsive and restarts after ~20 seconds. When it restarts it gets stuck on the boot animation. The factory reset is the only thing I have done to the phone since these issues began, is there something else I should have done?

Not entirely sure I understand the process here.
-I need to flash TWRP through Odin, though I thought you said to absolutely not use Odin?
-Then I flash SuperSU and KnoxRemover somehow?
-But then I have to access the play store? Will I even be able to do this? Or is this part optional for what I want?
-I have no idea what I'm suppose to do with the second link. Do I have to flash a bootloader, kernel, radio, and rom separately?
I feel like an idiot for not understanding this.

Ok on that note I do need to elaborate, Odin is only bad if you are trying to flash back to something prior to 4.3 because all the odin .tar.md5 files contain a boot loader, and the bootloader is the killer of these phones after the 4.3 upgrade.
* flash TWRP with Odin (that is safe)
* Dont worry with the SuperSU and KnoxRemover at this point right now Unless you want root access(but wait till after you get the ROM to boot again.)
* You will then need the ROM flash it in TWRP, wipe the dalvik and cache, then reboot the system
If you have any further Questions feel free to ask

Ok so I was using 3.07, I tried 3.09 with CWM and TWRP and had the same results as before. Using the toolkit (which doesn't officially support 4.3--not sure if that's important) I get the message "waiting for USB debugging to be enabled", and of course I can't enable this.

I'm going to have to sit back and wait for someone else to chime in on this one?
Maybe you can try to flash the Odin .Tar again and see if maybe it will boot. I read somewhere tonight that some people are having to flash some things more than one time to get them to work right.
It probably took my phone 5 minutes to boot after I recovered it. I really thought I hadn't fixed it then it just booted. So it might just take longer than you expect?
I will try to help if I can think of anything thing else to try but as of now I am out of ideas.
