[Q] dont have 4.2 ota ? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys I recently bought a GNEX as I missed the nexus 4 by minutes. Bought it brand new and it came with ice cream sandwhich. It asked me to update it and now its on 4.1.1 when it should be on 4.1.2? The phone did come with a European charger in the box and I had to manually add my APN settings to get my signal . Is this why it doesn't want to update?

Probably not a yakju model, just flash the yakju image manually and you're good to go (don't ask, search )

Yeah most likely its the European model. Probably won't update for a while.

Okay thanks for that. I would install it manually but my laptop is android aswell so I can't lol. Hate having to wait but I guess I'll have to.

I also don't have 4.2 yet on my GN I got from a UK store. When I try and manually flash any of the officially released ROMs i just get an error. Is that because I am not on yakju?

[Q] Update Galaxy Nexus ?

Hello,
Ive got 2 Galaxy nexus one bought from US store and one from a UK store, both are not the LTE versions.
i got OTA update from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 OTA on the UK one but not yet for the US.
I dont want to brick the phone so Id like some help please, ive never used nexus phones before so i apologize for all the questions.
is it possible to flash it to the US one? and if i do will i still get OTA updates when they roll out or would i have to always do it manually?
the US one is 4.0.1 baseband: XXKK1 Kernel: ga052f63 Build: ITL41F
and i the UK one is 4.0.2 baseband: KK6 kernel: gaaa2611 Build: ICL53F after OTA update.
Do use Gnex Toolkit v4.1 ? and without rooting?
Thanks guys

Sorry about Bumping,,,,,,,still awaiting reply please
you won't brick.
there is no U.S. firmware for the Galaxy Nexus.
there are only three types of OTAs:
yakju: Google supported (GSM)
mysid: Google supported (LTE)
variants of yakju (yakjuxw,yakjuux,etc): GSM
flash it.

Thanks Zephik, the app helped me alot
The product name is yakjuxw and it says its NOT updated by Google.
does this mean they wont ever update? or just currently its not yet pushed through?

it still receives updates but it comes from Samsung. still a stock experience, just comes with extra languages and things like that.
you can convert it to a yakju (search it).
updates often come out for yakju more frequently than the variations of yakju
If I convert it to a yakju, will this affect my warranty? If yes, can I convert it back to my current one?

Based on my modest knowledge, if the nexus doesn't have a flash counter and u flash back to yakuxw u shouldnt lose warranted. Better ask the professionals here in xda though.

You won't lose your warranty if you flash a official firmware, I did that when I changed to yakju.

Is it VZW/Sprint? If so, it might be months until you get it.. that is if they approve of the update anyways. GSM you will get it mid july.. rooted.. you have it right now.

How can I check it? I haven't got even to 4.0.4 so it makes sense for me that I wont be updated..
If I root my phone, will my sms(which arent sycronised) deleted?and what about the rest of my information on the phone? can it damage my phone?
Rooting and flashing ROM's can damage your handset if you don't know what you're doing. Most flashing errors can be erectified though.
Where are you located in the world?
Verizon and Sprint are US based LTE handsets, they arent sold outside the states since they cant work on other LTE networks. Take a picture of your "About phone" page (screenshots can be taken with pressing "Volume down + Power" simultaniously.
Im from Israel.. so its not Verizon probably..

i dont get this update, that what makes me worry.
when I press the' check now' button it ALWAYS says:
your system is updated
last update checked at {this time}
Jellybean isn't officially updated yet mate. You won't get the update for at least two weeks if you have a stock phone. Those of us running it all have rooted phones or were at google i/o and got given jellybean phones.

Have you tried to clear Google framework data and the try to check for updates again?
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
I understand your confusion. A Nexus phone should get the update as soon as possible.
I just updated my phone yesterday, thanks to efrant how to guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170&highlight=yakjuzs
the problem is so many builds, I learned that yakju build is directly supported by google. However, today I learned that the build takju got the Jellybean update. Question what about the rest, yakjuux, yakjuzs, yakjujp.....etc.? I don't know, only android team knows the update process, so I hope they post something about that in google+, but I doubt that.
We have to wait, either get it OTA(which my never happen) or flash the update manually as soon google post the update URL's specified for your phone build.
If you have quadrant standard installed you can see your build under system information.

Nexus not getting OTA

Hi Friends,
I have bought Galaxy Nexus in Singapore(currently using it in India) and it is in 4.0.2 version. When I do a system update check it shows that the software is up to date. How to get OTA for my phone? I want to taste Jelly Bean without using any custom ROM...
Also, my phone's product name is Yakjuxw and I found that the OTA will not be updated by Google but by Samsung. Is the problem because of this?
Thanks in Advance,
Kumaran

Thats the problem right there, samsung hasnt updated there versions past 4.0.2 and there are no signs theyre doing it(4.0.4) so dont expect any JB ota anytime soon
So yeah youre gonna have to wait a long time man
I suggest you flash a yakju/takyu image and wait for the OTA in mid july
Or
Use the root method offered here

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Sure, I will flash yakju image this weekend and wait till July. If the OTA gets delayed then I will root my phone for JB
Thanks,
Kumaran

Mistake by google?

I bought my galaxy nexus (free GSM version) before 3 months
The software version was Android 4.0.1 (Build ITL41D)
When I turned it on it was updated to Android 4.0.2 (Build ICL53F)
And everything was working fine until yesterday!
The auto update told me there is the 4.0.4 update, so I updated it successfully.
After upgrading, the device started asking me for SIM network unlock code!
I was confused since my device is not locked for any operator!
I found out it was updated to Verison Android 4.0.4 (Build IMM76K)!!!
How come I got the Verison update! I cant understand!
Anyway I rooted my device and installed 4.1 hoping the problem will disappear! but all in vain! until I found this app FuxkDocomoV3.1 and it unlocked my device!
I cant understand how come i got the GSM update for 4.0.2 and then I got Verison update for 4.0.4!
is it google mistake?

I know someone who updated like you and get that 8digit unlock?
And that guy shipped the phone with his cousin. And they realized the phone bought from vodafone!they gave him to the code and ta da...
Are you %100 sure yoyr device is I9250M and sim free? Because to get rid of that thing you need that code.Flashing roms will not solve it

you have bought a locked phone ...and unlocked after through imei with network unlock codes
Most nexus phone in the arabian gulf handled by samsung (mean the update must made through samsung)
I didn't recieve any update for my nexus until I restored original yakju image
so maybe your phone was actually imported
this app may help you to know if your update come from google: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.cbruegg.officialupdate
First of all, you build was not ICL53F. It was something else (like ICL53F.xxxxxxxxx).
Second, IMM76K is not an update just for Verizon. It is for almost all gsm builds except for yakju and takju.
Thirdly, your device is SIM-locked. So what if you bought it unlocked? That just means the place you bought it from unlocked it. But, as with all SIM-locked devices, there is a chance that it relocks with any new ROM. There is a thread that tells you how to permanently unlock it.

Hi guys/lads, i do have a question about the official update from android for our belowed GNex. Recently i've read a lot about it and now i'm totaly dumb. I'm still on stock cause i bought my mobile like one month ago. Do i need to do something special to be able to recieve this update from google? One more question - does anyone here in Norway already got it? Cheers

You probably have yakjuxw version of image, thats why you are kinda late on receiving the update. You can try reading the stickies threads in general and development on how to flash yakju version.
Yakjuxw - update under samsung (late update)
Yakju- under google (fast update)
** i dont really remember the exact term, but if you are not yakju/takju, then update is late. You can check by turn the phone off, press vol up and down + power button together. Down at the left, there will show what version you are on.
If you are planning on upgrading to android 4.2, try reading some threads about the sdcard0/0 problems that everyone is having. Try to understand that thing first before you upgrade to 4.2, so you dont freak out
