I knew after the previous thread closed a new one would spring up ,but this was fast lol
Hi guys
New one x owner here, got it 7 days ago
Been having network signal issues since I got the phone, just called HTC to sort it and also asked the UK support guy about jelly bean, he said that they received an email yesterday from above and jelly bean has been delayed and its looking like no update till the new year.
Don't know how accurate this info is but the guy seemed sure.
Although its disappointing I would rather a bugless stable release, the amount of bugged pc games I bought over the
years that were never fixed is a joke.

problem isn't with jell bean, I think htc wants to sell bulk of htc one x+ before issuing update because it has already jelly bean. I personally observed in Switzerland the demand of htc one x+ isn't too high. This is another factor for delaying updates.

HTC knows they can't sell much of the one x+. JB update is not being delayed for that. Almost no one will buy one x+ if they have the one x and those who will would do it regardless of the update. HTC's chance is with W8 phones (no mater how ridiculous this sounds now), because with the money Samsung is investing in marketing all the other Android OEMs are competing for the second place and it's about 10% market share. Sad but true...

well is there anything to stop us just using the hub upgrade and just loosing the o2 customisation? most me witch you can or could get the cabs for off others. or have i missed something major?

Well we will see on monday eh .... i know what you mean there was no deffinate yes or no to releasing it. It probably was just a desk pusher told to send out an email basically saying nothing neither yes or no.
I hope
I like the rest of you hope that this is not true, We will just have to wait and see what happens.
I too hope that this doesn't turn out to be true.
I'm getting so fed up and disapointed by the XDA Orbit, it's a great phone but the storage card issue is killing it for me. If O2 don't release a fix I'll be moving on to another phone and it won't be with O2..........
i think it doestn matter if o2 will release ROM, most important for me is that someone(so far i know that htc directly will release it - it apperared somewhere in this forum) The customization **** i dont use (and never did) Only gprs&mms settings. I dont like any t-mo or o2 backgrounds etc.
Trust in Lord B. He is the person with the knowledge. The dumb techies and middlemen at o2 are so far down the chain that the first time they even hear of the orbit's existence is when you ask them a question about it.
There is a man with a thing in his hand which is better than the thing in your hand. He knows what we could have if we were so lucky.

Hello Sean,
Thank you for your email about Windows Mobile 6.
I can confirm we are currently looking at the possibility of offering upgrade to WM6 on our current MDA devices. At the moment however no decision has been taken as to whether we will offer any upgrades or if we do whether it will be free or not. This also means I don't have any timescales I can give you for release I'm afraid.
I'm sorry I don't have more information for you at present. If you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us again.

whats your issue? files turning to random letters and characters? i solved the problem by a 5mm*10mm piece of paper folded in half, on top of the micro chip, and then another on top of the sim...

It' a software bug and not a contact problem. Your solution makes no sence. And if it would be - in your case - really a hardware issue, you should reclaim the artemis
Thanks, I applied the fix on as soon as it came out and I'm now a happy Orbit owner.
Actually, I'm not too worried about a WM6 ROM as I don't see it being such a huge improvement for me, I just wanted a stable and dependable phone!
Really makes no difference to me,cause in India there is no 02 and have always liked the roms which our brilliant chefs come out with.Once the device is cid unlocked its bye bye o2 and their crappy customizations.

I had loads of fun with all the great WM6 version we tried this months. But after nearly a year with my TYTN, would be nice and fair to finally see a downloadable update from HTC site. A Vista updater without hacks. Not mentioning an official update in Italian.
Maybe we will quickly return to our Black or LVSM or whatever version....
Anyways, does anyone knows anything? June means 29th, just like the iPhone. Or it will be out when he will be out?
Share your knowledge.
IMHO the official update will be pants!
The only reason I cant wait for the official update is so that our Chef's can pull it apart and make something really special for us.
The current batch of WM6 roms are very close to perfect, all that is needed to make it 100% for me at the moment is a working voice dial BT solution.
My Tytn is fast and stable right now.

How right you are -- I've never met a tech company that missed an opportunity to miss a date...
well the ROM is finished and signed off... so i couldnt see why there is a delay... as most of the Operators now have the release ROM from HTC
The HTC announcement was the release of the HTC Touch
www.htctouch.com
From dopod HK, their official website says July.
Don't forget it's June for another 3 and a half weeks.
Don't you guys think HTC's CS is a bit crap. I fail to understand why did they have to start branding their own devices, when their support strategy so far seems to be pushing the customers to switch over to carrier branded devices. Cingular posted ROM upgrade quite a while ago and to get HTC's upgrade you have to send in your device to a repair center. Why wouldn't they post it online like everyone else. I think with the way things are going they won't post wm6 online as well.
This from South Africa's official supplier:
WM6.0 should be available end of July. You will be able to update your TYTN. At moment we have not yet confirmed if it will be a free upgrade or not.

thanks a lot for the tip
I've also noticed that HTC has changed a bit the e-club update section. They are definitely preparing for the update launch (after nearly a year with no official update for HTC branded phones from their official site), such suicidal tendency was too bad to be true even for a tech company.
I never met a person who did not lie (since businesses are 'legally' people in the States). July, eh? I am betting on August or September, especially for AT&T Customers since AT&T will now be focuses on the 3Gless, GPSless, DVD Quality videoless, 5MP less iPhone. I am comparing the Apple iPhone to both the Softbank X01HT (no GPS here) and Nokia N95 which for what you are paying for the iPhone (iClone), you should get something. Maybe, in 3 or 4 generations, the iPhone (iClone) will be what the TyTN and it's variants were in 2006.

Hi, where can i find all the planned updates for the desire? and is FroYo is really different than 2.1?
HTC have not published any sort of roadmap for future updates, so your best bet is to go to your nearest psychic, and ask them!
And to answer your second question: Yes.

June the 23rd ... thats the date we are all freed from 2.1.. LOLO!!
But then you have to throw Orange / O2 etc etc in the pot.. so to be honest ...
look on the forum .. and either get a new rom or wait till next year !!!!
23rd June has only been stated by a member on here - there's no guarantee that either him or the person he spoke to is telling the truth.

Sorry im kinda lost in translation here whats orange/o2 and why will i throw it? Lol
So basically the 720p, divx playback is just rumors?
So htc will just give us froyo then discontinue the updates and support?
First, Google makes the Android OS, so they'll release 2.2 (Froyo).
Then HTC add their own front-end to it, called Sense UI.
Finally, Orange, 3, Vodaphone and so on add their own tweaks (and rubbish apps) on top.
Each of those additional steps takes extra time, so basically Nexus One users will get it first, unbranded Desire users will have to wait a while for the HTC version, then others will have to wait even longer for the network versions.
If HTC go on the offensive with 2.2 on the 23rd i'll be laughing evilly over here. tbh I think HTC need to get this update out as simply put Sales will fall. the race between the two companies will be incredibly close. HTC need to make sure it's best hand is on the table. and keep there core elements separate and upgradable on the fly.
HTC will just release another dirge of handsets and forget the Desire. Am I being cynical??
Nope,
but with an official, yes will update it, with a possible date i'm hopeful.
i see.. too bad i live in the philippines so i will not get the updates from the mobile ops in other countries..
so the divx and 720p are just rumors?

I don't think you're far off with that assumption, my previous phone was a touch HD their former flagship model, it got one lame excuse of an update that did more harm than good, they kind of [email protected] us over with the 6.5 update that brings a stable and fast build, gave some lame excuse about users not wanting an update anyway
That made me not wanting to buy an HTC ever again, if only the desire wasn't the best android phone avaible at the time and my contract wasn't up for renewal, I wouldn't have consider another HTC.
According to a post on official blog of Polish service provider ORANGE, HTC is due to release the Froyo update for Desire in August 2010.

Yes throw your phones in the bins everyone, theyre useless now.
No. I just wish Id waited. Wanted Divx support and 720p. Well since I cant get that on Desire nor Iphone. I take the later cuz it is simple better.
We are only customer... buy and enjoy it
The way I see it:
I purchased an awesome Desire my first HTC phone of many. I did not expect plenty of updates but do expect updates to solve issues.
If I dont get any updates then fine as my handest runs like a dream. I dont have any issues and dont need any solving (well only user error)
Surely good buisness is to release a new handset rather than offering new roms to exsiting customers. As long as problem solving updates are done im happy and surely you cannot slate HTC for this.
If you purchased a Ferrari and then they release a new engine, sat nav, bluetooth, leather etc you cannot expect a free upgrade as then you wont purchase the new model!

Here my answer from yesterday:
Dear customer,
thank you for your inquiry.
We do not yet know, whether or when your device will receive the next Android update.
Once a new Android version should be provided for your device,
your device will receive the update automatically via OTA.
Please do not download any update files from the Internet!
These downloads, as the devices itself, are country-specific.
For example, an Asian software could damage the operating-system of an European device.

So when N comes out in a few months, we'll have a one year old device running an OS two versions old. Rubbish Huawei.
It doesn't looks like that we are getting updates in the near future. I have had an Email conversation with Huawei where I asked exactly this question if they plan to update to 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) or even to 6.1.x (Android N)
In short: They don't know.
Below is the german answer from Huawei:
Sehr geehrter Kunde,
vielen Dank für Ihre zugesandten Daten.
Uns ist zur Zeit noch nicht bekannt, ob bzw. wann Ihr Gerät das von Ihnen gewünschte

Worst of all: the German as well as the English answers are precisely the same, thus just another standard text, copy and pasted from a template and send to you.
Just ordered this Tab myself, as I wish a tablet with pen and multi window, but don't like those Samsung plastic tablets a lot.
Hopefully Huawei will get those things sorted and at least offer Android M for this beautiful device. Android N I guess will be a thing we'll dream off but never receive on this tablet. At least as long as there aren't any ROM Cooker in sight to port it over once it got released.

So, Google fu*ked up. If you got the update prompt (especially outside the USA), don't do it. Deactivate auto update in Developer options until we get the december patch.
More information (german article, I'll do a translation in quotation):
Android 12: Renewed update for the Pixel smartphones was a mistake; users now have a US version
Google had surprisingly started rolling out a fresh update to Android 12 yesterday evening for many Pixel smartphones that are already running the new operating system. It very quickly became clear that this must be a bug, and now it has been officially confirmed. Now, many users should be on the road with a version that is intended for a US provider.
Many could hardly wait for the update to Android 12 in the last few months, but we would not have expected it to come twice. However, that is exactly how it was and numerous users, also in Germany, reported about the new update yesterday evening. This might have seemed strange to many, so that the 1.5 gigabyte update was not downloaded and installed for the time being. However, some others have installed it.
Now Google has stopped the rollout and confirmed the assumption that it was a version designed for the US provider Verizon, which was accidentally offered to all users worldwide. They quickly stopped it and officially do not see a problem in the fact that this version is now used by many other users. The next update, probably the security update in December, is supposed to correct the whole thing. We can only hope that it will remain problem-free for all courageous users.
