Media Sounds - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

Good Morning
I would like to change my system sounds( ringtones;notifications;alarms and ui) from TW to some AOKP sounds. i've managed to extract the sounds from the rom and copy it to my sdcard. however when it cames to reproduce them or adding them in the sound settings it doesn't reproduce them. i can see that is a question of permissions, but when i try to change the permissions it doesn't allow me,and i'm using root explorer.. Any idea how i can solve this problem??
Thank's for any help and reading this

in the top border of root explorer, there is an option (mount R/ W)
just touch it
it will then change to mount R/O
then you can change the permissions now

don't forget to hit thanks if I helped you

Download ES File Explorer from the market. Go into settings and root options. Check the Root Explorer box, the HIAPK will already be checked. Then check mount file system. When you are all done, before exiting go back and uncheck mount and root, or you may have trouble running it a second time reading the sd card. Not all have this problem.
You can also just install the Sprint Nav apk conventionally to data. It doesn't have to be in system/app.
Thanks Kenny...worked perfectly. Used it to remove the camera shutter file in system/media/audio/ui so the camera wouldn't make noise when taking pics. It was an r only file.

How to change permissions in the main system folder

Ok, here's the issue I want to copy over and ringtones and have them live in the same area as my current ringtones now I have root and tried to change permissions and u for an error message saying that some system folders and folders on sd cards cannot be changed. Ok......so now what

I think extension of your ringtones have to be .ogg and then change permissions as usual with a root explorer app..
XX
X
X
like that. BUT I'm not quite sure if that's all that is needed.
And, I have tried putting them in as just .mp3 or .wav but they dont show up. SO, Im guessing it has to be .ogg

You need to set r/w with a file manager that has root access.

If you mean copy your ringtones to your system file ( so they work even with USB storage connected ), I actually did that recently; here's some things that might help:
1. For some reason, some apps have trouble making the system R/W, so if one doesn't work, try another one. Root Explorer and FX Explorer always seem to work flawlessly for me, but YMMV. Also, like it's been said, make sure you have system mounted as R/W; some apps might make it seem like it's mounted R/W when it's not.
2. MP3s should be fine, and I believe WAV files worked for me too.
3. This one took me a while to figure out; after copying the files, you have to reboot for them to show up when you're selecting tones.
Anyways, hope that helps.
cannot change frikin permissions
i have used both root explorer and FX explorer (and i prefer the latter of the two) but when i try to change the permissions it basically say "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" even though i do have root i am not too sure why i cannot change the permissions of subdirectories? I know in windows you can make the subdirectories inherent the atributes of the parent directory but unfortunately my lack of linux/unix experience is abundantly apparent. Is there away to force the subdirectories to inherent the attributes of the parent directory, or am i just a dumbass barking up the wrong tree.. OH!, and yes just to state the obvious yes i am rooted....

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much more I can help then. Here's a few things though:
I know that you need to download some kind of additional app from the developer to enable root features in FX Explorer, and I think you might have to enable something in the settings.
When I'm using the app, system R/W seems to apply to the entire /system directory, so it affects the parent directories of the sub-directories that I trigger R/W in.
From what I've read, some people have issues with SuperUser functions working, even when they're rooted, so maybe it's your SU that's causing the issues? I'm not sure what the solution is, but I know people have posted various methods that might work in the forums.

open root explorer and go to system->media->audio and here you gona find all system audio files ,and when you will replace them dont forget to mount R/O and set permissions after replacing or paste to :

[Q] Changing S-pen sound with Whomp Rom?

I have flashed the Whompasaurus rom onto my galaxy note 2 (Sprint) and I cannot change my s-pen sounds. I have tried to use ES explorer and go into /system/media/ui and tried to rename the Pen_att_noti2.ogg to Pen_att_noti2.ogg.bak but every attempt has failed. I checked the properties of the file and it says that the file is readable and writable. I have even tried to copy the sound (that I want) into the file and overwrite it but that does not work as well. Is the whompasaurus rom interfering with this? Am I doing something wrong? Are there special settings I must have? Any help is greatly appreciated.
P.s.: I would have posted this in the whomp forum, but it seems that I do not have enough posts, "requirements" to post into the developers thread.
I am hoping someone would shed some light onto my situation
Please and thanks!

check to make sure you root permissions enabled in ES Folder. I have to enable it every time. Just hit the menu button, Root Explorer, Mount R/W, and change the appropriate properties. It took a few a time to figure out why names and properties we're changing. The fail message is really brief and easy to miss.

[Q] [SOLVED] Cannot change permissions of files. PLZ Help

All posts I saw in search bar were over a year old and am not sure if they are relevant on 5.0
Problem: I cannot change permissions of files on my internal sd card.
Temporary solution: move file to /system/app, change permissions and then move file to wherever it needs to go.
If anyone knows of a more permanent solution please help.
EDIT- flashed a custom rom or ten and now I can change permissions all day. If you are on stock and have the issue I had than moving the file to change permissions works too. I like to change boot animations and changing permissions is a must.
