Hey all, i have a canadian i747 galaxy s3 and i am pretty new to rooting and flashing ROM's. I have had CM10 flashed on my phone for about 2 months now, and am running the d2att CM 10.0.0 stable version that was released a week or so ago.
My question is, is it beneficial to update to the most recent nightlies? I don't know much about rooting so the change logs released are above my head, so any clarification as to what the right thing to do is, or the pros and cons of keeping up to date on the nightly releases would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
anyone? Im still running the stable version, but i dont know what the advantages/disadvantages of keeping up with the new nightlies are? Is there something i should be looking for in the change logs to see if they are worth while for my device? thanks

I would like to know as well. I will most likely run stable when i get my s3, but nightlies could've fixed some bugs

Good Evening,
So I have been running Cyanogenmod on my ATT S3 for a few months now. I was a big AOKP fan, but have to have my USB audio out, and from what I understand it's not functional. I don't pay close attention to new builds but occasionally I get an itch to flash something new.
My question(s) are, how can you tell what version each Cyanogenmod is? What version did they start 4.2 on? 4.2.1? 4.2.2? I would like to try the each but I don't know which is which?
Also is there a file repository that I can see ALL the versions for my phone, not just a few picked versions from the last several months. Thank you for your help.

In about phone, you should have your firmware version.
I think CM10 = 4.1.2; CM10.1 = 4.2.2. It should mention it in the OP and on their website either way.
Thank you very much for your reply, though that was not what I was looking for. Please forgive me for being vague in my request. I should have asked where is a source of information, on the internet, on what nightly builds are what version of android. The ROM zip files and download site only state CM version and date, I have looked at the githhub and BBQ changelog and have really only seen info on the coding changes made to them. I would just like to know what the last version of 4.1.2 was and what the last version of 4.2.1 was and when they switched, that's all. Thanks!
I am pretty sure the best way is to do some more digging through the git hub or the change log. I would the the change log should show the change in versions. If not maybe the commit list in the diffrent branches.
Hello I hope you are doing well. I have tried to flash Liquidsmooth and Cyanogenmod nightly 3/16 and both of them will freeze during a phone call and or after a phone call. I tried the sonic TW rom and have had no issues. Can someone please let me know what the issues might be and how I can fix them. Thank you so much I need a very stable ROM as I use my phone for work.
Were those 4.2.2 roms? Those arent quite stable yet, theyre still working on them
Flash a 4.1.2 / MB1 / MA6 ROM if you're looking for as much stability as possible

I believe for Liquidsmooth that error was caused by the most recent release (titled STABLE). I know that RC2 didn't have the same issues with freezing on phone calls. The RC2 is available on their goo.im page.
But, like CNexus said, 4.2.x Roms will inherently be a less stable than TW-based Roms. That's just the way it is when you're developing something that's not been officially released for your device. In the 4.2.x Roms that I tried, it was stable enough for my (non-business) needs.
Seems like I've been hearing this issue on various threads since the new CM kernel was released. CM is still in nightlies so it is not 100% stable. But it could be a lot of different things.

I appreciate all the help is there any good roms that are not TW that are stable MA6? If you could point me in the right direction. I tried searching MA6 and got kernels?

Well, I don't know exactly what you mean by non-TW-based MA6 Roms. As far as I know, MA6 Roms are inherently based off of touchwizTW (since it's a build of Samsung's Sprint Rom). I assume you mean Roms based off Android version 4.1.2, which is the version that came with MA6.
I know freeza has gone and removed a lot of TW features from his Galaxy S fre3 Rom. It's currently on MB1, which is only a minor upgrade from MA6.
But for the most part, the MB1- and MA6-based Roms are pretty solid in terms of stability. I'd recommend going to the Rom Wiki created by Hamspiced. I have no idea when it was last updated (maybe a week or two ago), but it has a lot of links to MB1 and MA6 Roms (as well as a lot of AOSP, etc. Roms)
I did search but I couldn't find a clear answer. I would like to get CM 10.2 on my phone but I want to use a stable version. From the CM site there is no stable release using t0lteatt. But there is a t0lte that is stable at 10.2. Is it possible to use the t0lte version of CM 10.2 on the att version of the note2?
The ones for the t0lte do not work on our i317. Some MIGHT boot but with no signal. If you're looking for cm 10.2, there are a couple well built ones here. If you want something like a stable release, you might just have to wait.

I'm using a t0lteatt build on my i317M with no issues. Does that count?
What do mean "there are a couple of well built ones here?"
I would prefer to use Cyangoenmod 10.2.
I've been out of the "hacking" scene for a while now. Last phone I upgraded to a custom firmware was my moto atrix fauxg. I wish I hadn't lost that guy, I would be more comfortable looking at different roms. As it is now, I really only feel comfortable with cyanogenmod. Not cause im a fan boy but because I have used it and feel a sense of familiarity with it. I suppose I could go to the 10.1.3 version, but I do l like to have the most current.
Anyway, thanks for the replies. At least I know I need to wait if this is to happen.
Hey guys, I got a Kindle Fire 2 here that I installed a 4.2.2 Jellybean Stock ROM about a year ago. While it's served me well, it has a few issues. I'm looking to see if you guys would recommend any particular ROM to install?
Furthermore, I tried looking at the CyanogenMod for Kindle Fire 2, but I'm not entirely sure what's the difference between CM10.1 Nightlies and CM11 Nightlies. I see people in a CM11 thread asking for Official CM10.1 nightlies, but I'm confused as I would think CM11 would be better?
Thanks in advance fellas. :fingers-crossed:

Cm11 is better (it's the latest and greatest). Less bugs and runs faster. Honestly there are very few knowledgeable people in these forums. . Hence the questions. Also- there are no new cm10.1 nightlies.
What particular issues are you trying to resolve? Maybe I can point you in the right direction.

Hey Folks,
First timer here. I'm a refugee from the cyanogenmod boards. I'm a novice at this but did manage to root and install twrp and use the cm nightlies for a couple of years. I own the S3 t999 and have been using d2tmo on Metropcs (NYC) ever since cm10. I know the d2tmo is the tmobile but it has always worked for metro pcs.
Anyway, sometime in mid December, I foolishly updated to cm14.1 from 13.0-20161118-nightly-d2tmo without realizing I was actually upgrading the android version. As you can imagine, without upgrading the gapps, my phone went bonkers. I was barely able to get it back to working order. It has not been the same since and as others have noted, all the cm13 nightlies for d2tmo from cyanogenmod are no longer there and obviously there will be no more further improvements of cm14 . Those last nightlies are too buggy for me, even with the correct gapps.
So my question is, what are my options now ? Are there alternate projects that work like the cm builds ?
So SlimRoms has some builds. Would these work like the CM builds? Would I just install it from twrp , does it matter that I'm going from a CMbuild to a SlimRom ?
I'm looking for something that will continue to improve, easy to update.
Thank you any feedback, sorry I could not post links

Thank you very much anil2653. Very much appreciated.
I'd still like some options moving forward tho, if anyone can speak as to what they would be, that would be great .
