Flashed AOKP 4.1.2 JB v2.1, breathed life back into my HTC Desire! But... everything I've tried so far is working fine except for phone calls? I'm on O2 UK, tried selecting network manually, seems to connect and have signal but phoning my mobile it cuts straight to answering machine. 3G work fine and wireless work fine.
I have Bitdefender Antivirus (free edition), was wondering if that was somehow interfering or incompatible?
Radio has been flashed to 5.17.05.23. Phone was running CM7.2.0.1 rom (I didnt get a2d properly running so ditched), then RevolutioN (which devoured the battery).
Gutted, really like this ROM, only one I've tried so far that is JB and a good battery life, though not receiving calls in some situations isn't a bad thing!

I have been on Ginger Villain 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 and i have had this problem.
When the wifi is connected, i would say once every five minutes it disconects and re-connects again. Even though this process takes a few seconds, it is very annoying when im on skype as it terminates the call.
I have set the wifi sleep policy to never. I have never had this problem on stock, modaco, and Robo HD roms.
One thing to note, i originally thought this was a gingerbread 2.3 problem. Too see if was true, i flashed the new modaco 2.3 rom and it was fine. I was using skype and other apps for over an hour and it did not disconnect.
So why is this happening in ginger villain?
One thing to note.
I live in a flat and therefore the wifi signal has always been quite low BUT it has always connected without any problems.
Could it be that GV 2.3 decreases wifi signal strength?
I have flashed the latest radio and ril which seems to have fixed it.
But now I am getting graphical issues as the screen is flashing and acting very weird on certain apps.
Anyone got any ideas?
I'm currently on 1.3 GV and have the same issue with the Wifi, about to try a different Kernel to see if it helps.
I've also noticed a decreased signal, I can be standing right next to my router and not receiving absolute full signal... Think it may be a ROM issue?
You have to remember these ROMs ain't perfect and each one seems to have it's flaws, but the dev's are getting there!
What kernel will you try?
Strange. I have no problem with wi-fi. Signal as well as on the stock rom. In the router logs no disconnects.
Kernel: 1.6 HAVS 1113Mhz + BFS from Villain setup
Radio: 32.44.00.32H_5.09.05.30_2
It is very strange, I have tried different radio's but still can't fix it.
Under normal internet use, it is quite difficult to tell that the connection has dis connected and reconnected as it only takes a few.seconds.
When using Skype or Google talk, you can tell and its very annoying.

Did you manage to fix this with a different kernel?
I am so glad I have finally found someone with the same issue as me! I have a relatively weak wifi signal (distance) from my hub to my room where I use my desire. On apps like youtube or bbc iplayer, it would suddenly turn off wifi and then reconnect all of a sudden. It meant watching anything with these apps is a nightmare. And I have always had it set to wifi sleep - never. I have never had this problem with any other ROM and I have tried loads. I originally put it down to my already tempermental internet, but I have now ruled this out. This is specifically a GV ROM issue.
GV 1.0 - 1.4 all had the same issue. Then, yesterday much to my surprise I saw in the 1.5 change log that one of the changes was that 1.5 "should fix the wifi sleep bug".
Last night, I tried iPlayer as usual, but I believe the problem still persists. I now don't know what to do. I will try resetting the wifi hub to defaults and so on, but I really don't think it will make a difference. I could try flashing a new kernal, but again I don't see how it would make a difference. Then I thought maybe a new radio, but I don't see the need. I'm using the latest official desire radio, and it works flawlessly on everything else.
So, I'm out of ideas, and my patience is slowly dying. I love the ROM for all its worth. It works perfectly, except for this. But for me, stable wifi is a deal breaker. I might need to try something else like amethyst.
Yes, sounds exactly like my problem. There Is a problem with Ginger villain as it works fine on other Roms.
I have tried so many different kernel's, radios and ril's but to no luck.
The only last solution I can think of other than to change rom is to try the modaco kernel. But the problem with that is, its not available seperately so we need someone to extract it from the rom.
I've got a strange issue with my HTC Desire and GV 2.5 :
at home, it doesn't even detect my Wifi (others devices do, of course), while at work it works perfectly.
The security is the same (WPA2/AES) between work and home, so I don't see any explanation... do you think it can be caused by the channel used ?

I have an unlocked rogers samsung captivate and I am using it on a fido network
When I was on PHEONIX 4 everything was working perfectly. I recently switched to PHEONIX ultimate and my data stopped working. I tried going back to PHEONIX 4 and it still didn't work! I have spent days reinstalling different roms and modems to figure this out. What baffles me is that it works for a little bit and then stops.
What is really confusing me is that the only way I get service is if I am on edge (GSM only). When I to 3G I lose service and my data doesn't work either. It only works for a little bit. I can even surf for a minute and then it doesn't work at all – and if the service does return it does so without 3G. So I know my apn is correct.
I have tried to install different modems. I messed around with *#2263# settings. I also went back to stock (2.1)using a odin-one-click made specifically for rogers. What I did notice was everything worked fine as stock. But everything worked fine even when I was using pheonix 4 or any other froyo rom. But now nothing works!
I used this link and tried out most of the modems. I also tried i897uckb1 which was the worst causing my phone to reset on its own
I also feel like its not a phone network issue since when I do select 3g my phone starts acting weird. One thing in particular is when I try making a voice call, the green 'call icon' remains on the notification even after ending the call.
I apologize if I am all over the place. But I really hope you can make me feel stupid and provide a simple solution to this.
My present specs:
model number: samsung-sgh-I897
Firmware: 2.2.1

kernel 2.6.32.9
Hi guys,
I rooted and flashed CM7.2 a few weeks ago, and I was hooked so last weekend I flashed CM9 RC1 and this morning I flashed CM9 RC2.
Two issues I'm having: Adaway worked perfectly on CM7.2 whether I was using wifi or mobile data. Now, it only works with wifi in CM9. I get that it's not supposed to work as well with connections like 3G but is there a way to get the perfect track record back that it had in CM7.2? I've checked the log for suspicious DNS requests and there's nothing showing up other than google and my carrier.
Also, Fast for Facebook http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1581371&highlight=fast+facebook only works now when I have a wifi connection
Are these two issues radio related (I'm a noob, so I have no idea) now that I've upgraded to ICS? My radio as it reads in the bootloader is 26.03.02.26_M (I'm with Bell). Should I be looking at the .19 radio I've seen people mention?
Thanks!
Hey everyone, just came over here from the HTC One X ( AT&T ) forums, smashed the screen on it and used an upgrade to get an AT&T SGS3, loving it so far. Had it rooted and custom recovery, and was on a custom ROM not even an hour after getting home. Anyway, onto the main part of this post.
I tried CM10 ( the 11/01 and 11/02 nightlies), both of the AOKP, and LiquidSmooth, and on all of them, my WiFi stability is not there. It seems to disconnect at random, if connect at all, and when i walk out of range of the router, and then come back, it will not automatically reconnect until i go into airplane mode. Trying to turn WiFi itself off and back on does not work - it won't turn off/back on, it sticks at what it was at.
TouchWiz ROMs, everything works just fine. I'm pretty sure it was working on MIUI as well, but i didnt have MIUI on there long enough to properly test it.
I am using the UCLH9 radio, since AFTER searching the forums pretty in-depth, i found that all radios prior to UCLH9 had wifi driver issues. Flashing this new radio did NOT fix the issue.
I have tried both stock CM10 kernel AND Ktoonsez's kernel (which is pretty freakin awesome, btw! :good: ) and still have WiFi problems.
I have tried flashing ROMs through both TWRP and CWM Recoveries, and have done a full wip of /system /data /cache and /dalvik-cache 3 times each before flashing a ROM.
I'm a pretty competent at flashing ROMs and troubleshooting problems, I am a pretty well-known beta-tester for multiple Sense and AOSP ROMs over at the One X forums, and I have a very good knowledge of how to work ADB and Fastboot. I've been around XDA for a little while, and I know the way of things around here. (don't want you guys thinking im just another a$$hole that threw a post up the second a problem occurred without doing some research first!)
If anyone has ANY ideas as to what may be causing the wifi drivers to crash, PLEASE fill me in.
I've tried all the same things you have and have had no success. The best wifi stability I got was the AOKP_d2att milestone1 w/ lean kernel combination, but wifi would stay connected for 3-5 minutes as opposed to 30 seconds.
I briefly tried CM9, but that still had wifi issues. I might try a few other ICS roms
I came across these threads that documented the problem across other phones:
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34942
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=36993
I've decided that I'm stuck with ICS until the official JB comes out.

Well, I flashed Intergalactic, which is a modded Stock ICS TW ROM based on the AT&T firmware. Shortly after, I reinstalled TWRP recovery and flashed task's AOKP with ktoonsez's kernel, and WiFi works!
This is similar to an issue we had several weeks back with CM10 based ROMs on the HTC One X, you couldn't get LTE unless you flashed a ROM based on Android 4.0.3, it was something with CM10 obviously, because it was fixed in one of the October nightlies iirc.
Try flashing intergalactic and then task and ktoonsez aokp and see if your WiFi is working and let me know
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Nope, no luck this way either.
Wifi under Intergalactic works fine.
TWRP flash AOKP milestone 1 alone, with the ktoonsez kernel, or with lean kernal and my wifi still hangs after ~1 minute of inactivity. The phone grinds to a halt. If you can get to the settings, it says that I am connected to my router, but shows no signal bars. If you can then turn wifi off, the phone un-freezes, and (except for no wifi access), the phone is back to normal. If you now turn wifi back on, it stays up for another minute or two and goes down again.
I'm open to any other suggestions.
Thanks though

i am using task and ktoonsez rom....when i first installed it, i noticed wifi dropping, it was annoying.
kinda dont happen anymore. The only 2 things i can think of that might have helped me is; i flashed a new modem i747MVLLE8(I'm with rogers), and under Wi-fi(menu/advanced), i unchecked poor connections.
also my router is 2.4ghz and 5ghz band, but i am connected to the 2.4ghz band.
hope it helps somehow.
I had horrible dropouts and speed with my last WiFi router. I forget the name/model but it was a new model (released this year) that had great reviews.
I went back to my old router and all my wifi problems disappeared.
I do get dropouts once in awhile still. But I haven't done a clean ROM install in awhile.
Just got a One X a week ago and the first thing I did was to install CM10.1 latest nightly. Everything is working fine except two (important) things:
a) Weak wireless signal: The wireless works just fine if I'm say up to 5 meters from the router, with very good speed. However, once I move to another room the signal basically dies. I'm on a dual-band DDwrt'd Netgear WNDR-3700, all my other wireless devices work just fine. If i remember correctly, before installing CM 10.1 I played around a bit with the stock HTC ROM, and although signal was low in other rooms, there was an option to boost Wifi signal and with that it was better. Is there anything I can tweak in the CM 10.1 rom related to Wifi? Or any router option that might be causing the bad signal dropoff?
b) Broken microphone input in Skype: This seems to happen only in Skype and basically the other side of the connection can barely hear me. The video camera recordings, recorders etc all sound fine, so I don't know why the hell Skype's microphone is extremely low.
Can these problems be kernel related? I haven't had time to start changing things like trying other ROMS/kernels but I like CM 10.1 and would
like to figure out how to fix these things
INFO: I'm on CM 10.1 official nightly (build 03-08), with NCX kernel v24b, Hboot 1.36
Thanks in advance
