[Q] How to set wallpaper to portrait mode only. - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed ViperDHD (not sure if that's relevant or not) and it's working perfect, absolutely no complaints. There's only 1 minor annoyance and I'm sure its user error but.. I can't figure out how to set my wallpaper to portrait mode only. It currently tries to set all my wallpapers to work in both portrait and landscape which prevents me from getting the wallpaper I want. How can I get my phone to show only the portrait box when adding a wallpaper? I've never ran into this problem on any other rom. Is it a limitation of Sense 4? Or am I missing something extremely simple? Thanks!

Go to play store and download an app called picspeed wallpapers. Use that app to set your wallpapers don't use the stock, it sucks. You don't need to use their wallpaper but you can use the app to set your wallpaper from your gallery.

That solved it! Thanks!

[Q] How do I disable auto-orientation wallpaper?

I mean, I understand why the background auto-rotate when we tilt the phone. When accelerometer detect the phone tilt, the screen tilt and the background tilt w/ it. And that's kinda make sense. But, the problem is when you have a tight crop person as a background, and set the background to be non-scrolling. Then I think it's obvious that the background want to be set static in a certain way. Currently I have not found a way to lock the background wallpaper. I mean as I rotate the screen I want everything else to rotate and get landscape/portrait UI as necessary, but the background remain the same whether portrait or landscape. Well, I have yet to found a way. The only thing I came across is to disable accelerometer, but that's not very a solution. Anyone know how to do this?
Thank you,
The only thing I can think of is to find an app on the market that will manage your wallpapers for you. I know they have apps that will set a seperate wallpaper for each homescreen, so maybe there's one that allows seperate wallpapers for both portrait and landscape.
As far as finding a checkbox in Android to do this, there isn't one.

JB Aspect free cropping [UPDATED 2013/06/22]

Available on Play.
This is an small app that lets you crop an image freely when trying to set the wallpaper or lock screen background.
In the Jelly Bean stock and stock-based ROMs, is not possible to properly set the home and lock screen wallpapers, due to a nice new feature of keeping the crop box aspect fixed to a square, but the area to be cropped is a smaller rectangle.
When trying to set the lock screen wallpaper with a portrait image, the always squared crop box touches the lateral borders of the image, forcing you to select a much smaller area -possibly scaling the picture-, and thus leaving us in a less than optimal situation, unhappy with our powerful pocket computer that could do much better with such a trivial task.
This lazily done app comes as an option when you try to set a wallpaper, and just calls the stock Gallery app with a crop action without the aspectX and aspectY parameters that lock the aspect of the crop box.
Note: This app needs the stock Gallery or Note 2 Gallery.
UPDATE:
2013/16/22 [v1.51]
- Fixed character encoding error in image paths.
- Other minor fixes.
2013/06/09 [v1.5]
- Prevents hiding part of wallpaper behind status bar.
- Lock screen wallpaper can be cropped to any size.
- Can work with AOSP's Gallery.
- Launcher icon with settings for some of the above features.
- Fixed screen rotation bugs.
If wallpaper scrolling is enabled, it's better to select an squared area or wider, or else you will see black bars to the sides or a scaled image. This version lets you choose what happens in that case.
2013/05/06
- Works with Quickpic.
- Better lockscreen wallpaper size (checks status bar height).
- Home screen wallpaper maximum width is 960; minimum is 800.
- Checks if lockscreen wallpaper is writable. If not, S2 Gallery handles it.
2013/05/05
- Handles all lock screen wallpaper process. Works on Note 2 Gallery.
MAY NEED ROOT. This works by saving the image directly to the Gallery data folder.
- Lock screen crop box is fixed to match the screen.
- No lateral black bars in home screen.
- Signed. You must uninstall the previous version before trying to install this one.
- Kick ass icon.
2013/04/23
- Processes and sets Home wallpaper to prevent zooming.
- Checks whether the Gallery activity exists.
Tested with the Gallery Note 2 and seems to be doing OK. However, when setting lock screen, the cropping rectangle has locked aspect, but still it lets you crop any image properly.
Please point any fault you find, I'll try to find time to work on them. And all suggestions are welcome.
Works great. Cheers.

I'm sorry, I have only tested this in Neat Rom. It must work on WanamLite as well. The app requires the stock gallery apk (SecGallery2.apk, package name com.sec.android.gallery3d). I'll make it check for some possible errors.
I m using Note2gallery and this app is not working
Handy.....thanks

There's still some problems: Sometimes the lock screen BG will be stretched, and the home screen will be zoomed if you try to select an area close to the sides of the image. But mostly works great for the lock screen.

Portrait vs Landscape Wallpaper

Hopefully someone can help me past my trouble - my SM-P600 is rooted, still on 4.4.2. When I first set it up and rooted it, I dug around on the forums and figured out a way to set different wallpapers for landscape and portrait. Now, after having to replace my SD card that went bad, the portrait orientation picture is gone, and I can't for the life of me figure out where or how I set up the different portrait mode wallpaper- it's just black/no wallpaper in portrait mode now. I didn't use a 3rd party app, either. Anybody out there know where or how to specify a separate wallpaper for portrait vs landscape viewing???

Wallpaper Size/Wallpaper Scaling Issue

noticed that some wallpapers scale in a weird way when in landscape. is there a right size to not have it scale (zoom in) when on landscape? seems like a hit and miss for me. some scale in a weird way and some do not.
tried setting wallpapers from the gallery, from wallpaper apps, and from google "wallpapers" app and i cant have it behave consistently.
also just noticed with the stock Pie OTA that the text under the icons are cut off when in landscape. dont remember if it used to do that in Oreo but I just noticed it now.

How can I prevent wallpaper rotation on Tab S4 while leaving screen rotation on?

I have Tab S4 (US unlocked) running stock ROM and unrooted. I've noticed a very annoying issue with Wallpapers.
if the screen rotation is left turned on, the wallpaper also rotates. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
The issue that if we set the wallpaper in portrait mode that looks great, rotating it to landscape the wallpaper becomes pixelated and vice-versa..
Thanks.
I've had this problem too. my solution was to install nova launcher then go to settings-look and feel-screen orientation. From there you select force portrait or landscape. Hope this helps.
Now if only I can find a good wallpaper app besides zedge
