Best/Stable Rom - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am rooting the fire for my niece. What is the best, most stable Rom right now. Don't want get to have to deal with any problems. Just a stable experience
Sent from my MyTouch 4G using Tapatalk 2

Try GEDErom or AlienDroid. No problems for me. There is also Hashcode's but haven't tried those.
Devices:
Kindle Fire with AlienDroid primary and Modaco secondary

It comes down to personal preference. I tried all the JB ROMs and last night went back to CM7 for the awesome battery life and stable performance. Sooner or later I'll go back to JB because of OTG support.
One suggestion would be just try out as many as you can and answer your own question.

The ICS ROMS are much more stable than any JB ROM. GedeROM is my favourite ICS ROM.
You could of course try a modified stock ROM, like MoDaCo which is also very stable.

Yes. I have been running JB since hashcode first produced a fire rom. I currently use twa_priv's rendition. I do not experience any stability problems except those I cause myself by messing with the system.

That also depends on preference. I'm currently running the barebones CM7 with intersect raven's kernal. I like it because it has been stripped of almost all the apps and runs smoothly. The Hellfire CM7 has more visual color to it. I recently flashed the Cm7 stockish from goo manager (the ROM was updated on 11-04-12) but the SoD was very frequent

Whats the best rom to suit my needs?

I am starting a research to help me decide which rom i should flash.
I am looking for a stable build where most of funcionalities are working so as apps.
I am willing to make a very minimalistic interface, and thats why i thought about MIUI 4.0 but is this ROM stable?
Let me know the rom you use and whats working or not so as the compatibility and any other usefull information i may need.
Thanks in advance.
Please moderators do not close this thread until i have some answers please

Pretty much all of the ROMS are stable.. lol Its hard to decide though.. I would go with the 'lightest' ROM personally.. atm I am on modoco custom.. waiting on the kernel to be finished. As for app comparability that's tough lol. Cyanogenmod7 has a lot of apps however Modoco custom has the most I believe. It is extremely stable. I would not go to ICS unless you reallyreally want to.. just because of the new kernel when that's done it will be perfect

You mean that ICS kernel is not stable at the moment?
How about MIUI 4.0 ics?
What are the advantages of this modoco rom over the stock one?

Not all the Roms are stable and functional... There are a lot of things broken on CM9 and ICS. CM9 reloaded for example has numerous issues with connecting and charging as well as battery life. I would suggest stock until CM9 or ICS is fixed if you need an everyday.

Stock JB VS Custom Rom?

So I just got a G Nexus and im wondering whether I should be using stock JB or one of the custom JB roms. Is there a stable JB rom that is better than stock yet?
AndroidME. Very clean and fast with a good amount of features.

Almost all the custom ROMs are rock solid stable since they work off of the stock codebase to begin with. The very worst that'll happen is that they'll have a feature that doesn't work completely. For example, one of the CM10 kangs has a toggle that crashes when you select it, but it's not in stock so you still get the rest of the features.
Custom ROMs will also have generally better performance and battery life aside from any features they have. AndroidMe, Revolution HD, CM10 kangs, Xenon HD, the list goes on. Try em out!
If you give the devs time, they will add more tweaks, etc into the custom rooms....stuff that is not available on the stock

whats the most stable JB ROM?

hi,
i know asking what rom is better is not a good questions as it is different for different people. However, I just want to know what is the most stable, so once I flash it i dont need to keep re flashing.
I am ussualy a fan of CM and when they get stable releases I flash them and then dont need to think about it anymore. on my previous samsung galaxy S I used the CM9 RC for a long time until the stable CM9 came out and then used that.
currently there is not stable CM10 and when it comes out I will probaby use it perminently.
What JB rom can i install that will be stable to use for the next months until CM10 stable comes out?
im using stock JB right now.
stock.

ok i understand. but i guess the main things im lacking on stock is percent battery, ability to alter the navigation bar at the bottom, adding shortcuts to the lock screen slider, and themes.
is there any way to do that on stock? if not any other rams as clock to stable as stock

BAMF has been great. Not a ton of updates as there aren't any issues.

ok, what the heck is BAMF i searched that in the android development and dont know what rom your talkign about
Bugless Beast, 9-27 has to new binaries and is JRO03R.
Sent from my Nexus 7
Rasbeanjelly. Its the cleanest rom ever. Fast, amazing battery life and the latest aosp source. Also the nee binaries from jro03R. You should try it. It has the power widget, lockscreen targets and some more mods. If you dont like all the blue of the icons, simply flash modstorms white mod. Flash the rom + trinity/franco. The outcome is awesome performance, no slowdowns, everything just works. No reboots and sh!t. I highly recommend it.

I agree with this. Rasbeanjelly + trinity kernel. The rom is very clean. Here's the thread, but you should read the faq before doing anything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455874

I'm using AndroidME with Stock Google Kernel, works perfect, stable, actually it's a stock rom with improvements. The only thing missing for me is T9 Dialer, but no problem to install MOD for it.

You've already got the most stable Jelly Bean software then
stock, are you jellin, cm10.
after those you get into roms with more features and and there tends to be little bugs that sometimes go along with them.
Nothing against the others Ive had good experiences on alot of roms but as for the MOST stable these in my opinion would be them.
Stock ROM.
Beamed from my Grouper.
ok looking into BAMF and rasbeanjelly.
another question that could help me dicide between the two. do either have the possibility to upgrade the rom on the device without a computer. so when i install it i can always have the latest version without having to keep resetting to factory settigns and wiping all the data and cache

all roms do.. that's why you have custom recoveries.. i strongly suggest you read efrants stickies before you flash anything.

Yeah, you should read up on some stuff before continuing anything Rom related. Just look for stickied topics, read them, and you will have way less questions left.

are you sure? becuase when i was running CM9 RC2 on my old captivate, then the CM9 stable came out. I kept checking for updates in the settings and it kept saying my software was upto date. I had to download the new file and flash it again in clockwork mod.

It really depends on what you want to do with the kindle. I've been very happy with hashcode's and twa_priv's builds. Even their newer10.1 based ROMs are good, although a little too new if your looking primarily for stability.

Best ROM For Kindle Fire

To be Honest,I hate Cyanogenmod 10.1,it lags, freezes, and the browser crashes very often.I used gedeROM for a little while and was VERY satisfied, but then i read a post from soupmagnet saying that the kernel that gederom uses could cause decrease in battery life over time,i want confirmation for that and dont say to get aosp 4.2.2,i tried that and it was ok i guess but my kindle got frozen saying that it was charging even though it wasnt (yes i tried rebooting)so pls tell me if theres a fix for the charging loop or a better rom or if gederom doesnt cause that btw pls dont mention cm 10.2 it wont work better
I've been using Simple CM9 with good results so far. Not sure about the kernel/battery life stuff. Nothing has had better battery life for me than hashcode's 4.3 aosp. I'll be watching that one as it matures.

The latest ROMs usually have the latest kernel (low level bugfixes), and compatibility with Google's services. From what I've noticed, higher versions of Android don't cause more lag or use more memory either.
I haven't personally upgraded to 4.3 because I think it needs to mature a bit more, and become more stable, but I'm running 4.2.

Well I installed twa privs cm10.1 again.....and 4.2 still sucks on the kindle fire. The "Stable" official one is even worse..... I have always hated 4.2 on the kindle.....any older/better rom suggestions? (note i am not going with the barebones cm9 roms.....any good smooth roms fo me too try?i cant go with smoothrom because of the bloat of the installers.... NoteLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO GO BACK TO STOCK....STOCK IS WORSE THAN 4.2 ON THE KINDLE....(i forgot i had caps on but i don't care to retype that) I cant go with gingerbread because of lack of support.
I've been running SmoothROM since February. It's very quick and buttery smooth. The battery life is better than my Galaxy Tab 7+

Stock Jelly Bean 4.3_r2.1 for the Kindle Fire is the best for my Fire
I was the fan of CM for Fire since 2011. However I have lots of troubles with the CM10.1/SGT7. It was smoothly after installed but later, it freezed, getting hot and need restarting everytime I let it sleep long (more than 1 hour). So when I see the Stock Jelly Bean 4.3_r2.1 for the Kindle Fire from Hashcode, I get it and no regret, even it is the stock ROM, no tablet UI and convenients of CM ROM. It almost never freezzing. Stick with this ROM. :good:

I never thought while I was looking for the solution to my problems with the fire 1st gen updated to 10.2 ... that the solution might have been in a discussion titled "best rom for kindle fire" thanks a lot for suggestions!!
Some people can show to me where I could download the roms suggested or the exact name and version to look for them? And gapps?
:good:
isn't it against the rule to ask what is the best rom?
HellFire KF ROM
I'm running 2013-11-01 Hellfire ROM on Kindle Fire 1st Gen; Context Switching has lagging issues; coming out of power saving a bear; no update since Nov 1 & no change logs; choosing a build is shooting in dark; 10.2 CM video so much better than stock using MX PRO; smoother
Wish to try CM11, but 1st release beta; waiting
getting KF ready from ROM swap was head thumping on Win 8 & Win 8.1 (OS refused device driver installation even w/ user overide); but cake on Win 7 Uliti;
This is personally my favorite ROM and is updated regularly. This developer is usually on the bleeding edge of the latest fixes and updates.

after the lag issues and exasperating slowness of the kindle, I tried the CM11 (cm-11-20131208-1703-otter-sgt7) with the appropriate gapps and I also flashed this file "change_to_nexus7-4.4" (after installation).
Now the kindle came back fast and responsive. Yeah, not so fast as with the stock rom, but better than using Hellfire rom. It 'ok and the only "bug" I've found (however known), is that one relating to the mounting of the storage archive. I Solved it using apposite app in the store and restarting the device
I am satisfied, now.
Now I just clicked on the link of Laquox and he suggests the same rom GJ!

I just used this kernal for my kindle fire which is running android 4.3.1 PAC man rom which is Pac version 4.3 build-1, AOKP version otter_jb mr2, cyanogen mod 1-.2-20140128-unoficcial-otter, paranoid android 3.99-rc2
It has made this kindle exponentially faster as if i was just using my note 2, which is running the same pacman rom.
my guess is that I probably should not be running this kernal with this set up, but it really is super smooth and fast.
if anyone could point me to a faster kernal or a overclocker app which would make it even faster, please do.
under the performance tab in the settings, my maximum CPU frequency is only 1008MHz.
Id love to get this clocking at higher speeds if it is possible so please do let me know any secrets im missing oput on.
Every tegrak overclocker app i have tried says that it wont work for this kindle.
Is there anything i am missing?
At the end of the day, thanks for this kernal. I only loaded the kernal, and gept the gaps i already had loaded.
