Just want to ask what you guys think is more worth it to buy...
Extra battery for Note or a power bank.
Extra Battery:
1. Open and close of back cover. More annoying when you have an external casing.
2. Requires one by one charging of batteries.
3. Only for Galaxy Note.
Power Bank:
1. Universal power bank. For future use once new phone.
2. Simultaneous charging.
3. Will charge phone and will take time. Not ready ASAP.
Thanks.

I'd say swapping battery only takes like 1 min. The biggest downside for me is that you can only charge the battery when it's in the phone.
Even though it should be THAT hard to make an external charger, if there isn't one already.

That would certainly be a very good idea with the external charger, I sure need me one right now.
I bought a Hyperion battery and Hyperion battery charger/dock on amazon a while back and either swap back and forth or dual charge. It works out great.
99% of the time the phone is usable. Meaning I'm never worried about the battery dying. Also its handy on road trips to bring multiple batteries

I have an extra battery which charges in my desk stand (sorry, no link because I bought it in a store) and a power bank which I charge via solar panels while camping. For day-to-day use I only use the second battery, because I don't want to wait to have a full battery.

Thanks, that's a neat review, I think I'm gonna let myself be tempted with the extended battery and kickstand cover; does it really adds extra thickness to the Note if you want to carry it in the pocket of your jeans?
As I said, I quite like the extra shape - I don't feel I'm going to drop it so much, and for me, in your typical jeans and jackets, I've had no problems. It feels more reassuring somehow.
My next job is to see if I can store a tiny little usb cable within the spare space!
But yep, the new appearance is not a minus for me, and the battery life plus stand are massive, massive pros.

I got completely lost here, which battery is being recommended again ?
Click on my link to another thread about three posts up, in that posting I recommend a power bank and also what I consider the best genuine 5,000ma battery (ebay seller: gps4less)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
why not get both? Plenty of deals were on over the weekend.
7800mAh Probox
I recently got this model while in Thailand.Although I didn't fully test it , The looks are good, Its using Sanyo cells. It also says the total losses of the conversion is around 40% (external 3.7-5V boost and internal 5-4.2V buck),thus effectively available capacity is ~ 4500mAh - which should be ok for x3 usage. This one got 2 USB output ports too.
I've both. Stack of spare trees. Plus newtrent pack, which is great. Charges 5 times
From the man in your attic...
I vote for powerbank, just to future proof yourself. Spare batteries are nice but how long do you plan on keeping your phone? There are definitely plenty of options for power banks such as ravpower, anker, or newtrent.
Bought a powerbank but forced to buy 2 cheap batteries from ebay. My note batteries are getting fat... this is not safe...

One word: MiLi
I have the MiLi Power Shine, a 4000mAh external battery with two 2.1amp outlets.
Noticed you need more juice than me. MiLi has 10000-18000mAh externals too.

I read some stuff on solar power chargers. I'm not so convinced about their actual recharging power. I'll go for external power pack for now.
Thanks for the replies. I'll repost here with details as to the performance of the battery pack I ordered....a Mili as kindly suggested above.

I had your same problem because of my traveling. I tried solar chargers and you can just use 'em to leave 'em home. I bought two batteries and car chargers (even the original Note ones - wich needs almost 1000mAh), then I bought the TurboCharger Proporta 7000mAh external battery. It rocks I charged my Note from 15% to 95% (power on) in 2hr 30mins. The TurboCharger fully charged an iPad 2, a Nexus S and a BlackBerry 9800 before die
Sent from my Xoom on EOS ICS Everest
how about those ebay single AA cell chargers? Are they any good for the note, or do we need a certain voltage or amperage minimum to charge?
Your biggest issue is going to be charging your Asus Transformer due to the fact it requires a higher voltage and USB 3.0 for charging.
Have a look at this topic on solar chargers for the TF.
After reading a few reviews on here about the generic eBay extended batteries and the overpriced Mugen extended one I decided on the Hyperion 5000 mAh battery.
It was available on Amazon for ~20 bucks + $4.99 shipping: http://amzn.to/xtT3Sf
Performance so far has been GREAT, twice as much as the stock battery probably more - i got 6+ hours of screen time! I would definitely recommend it over the generic eBay crap and the good but WAY overpriced Mugen battery
Here is what it looks like:

It is a big battery- twice as big as the regular one. But I gotta tell you though i have gotten some crazy screen-on and general use time from it. I am going to try to make a usage numbers screenshot in the next week or so when i take my Note on a 4 hour flight

To me it makes more sense that I can just sling an external battery pack in my bag to plug in whenever I feel I might need the extra juice. That and of course the 7000mAh capacity is higher (and can do all my devices).

I picked this charger from Thailand for 1000 Thai Bhat just last weekend.
Can charge the note from 45-60% from 1%.
Feedback:-
Not heavy
Sits like an added cover
Charging takes close to 4-6hrs.(Will confirm after few uses)
Charging is mildly slower compared to USB charging from a laptop or your wall charger.
Great for travelling and can fit into your pocket along with the Note.
I confirm everything. Can add that it charged my note from 50 to 100 as well.

The similar power packs I've seen for other phones name them so that the power is the total mAh you have with it attached.
ie. The Note has a 2500mAh internal battery, this pack has a 1000 mAh capacity, so in total your phone now has 3500 mAh of power.
Maybe this one is different, but judging from the size I'd guess 1000 mAh is about right.

Yeah, I dont either understand why people buy cheap crap batteries etc to their ~500€/$ phone. Like if you have the money to buy this phone you should have money to buy decent replacement batteries if you need them. But it is everyone's own decision if they want to risk burning their phone and in worst case scenario exploding the phone in their pockets. At least I wouldn't dare to risk my phone or my own health with cheap batteries. Peace!
tried a similar pack but with "4200mah". fully drains after recharging the note from 10% to 90% plus. and it takes forever to charge since input only allows 0.5A.

It does really 1000mah inside? And also for other brand with 3500? Because im thinking of buying either 3500 power bank or 5400 extended battery.

I always use the supplied wall charger that comes with these so Idk, lots of the extended battery reviews on here are the same voltage & they seem to be doing pretty good.
It's not the charger which matters but the phone itself which charges the battery, it's aiming for 4.3V as that's what it thinks it should have as the stock battery is designed for that. Although I haven't heard a single case of these 4.2V batteries having problems with being charged with 4.3V, that last part can be changed in the kernel and the charger chip driver. I'm getting some knock-off cheap battery myself so I'll see how it goes. This particular one seems quite steep in price @ $30, with proven ones like the PolarCell 2400mAh going out for half the cost.
you won't see the affect right away from overcharging. I use to play with a lot of batteries from RC, overcharging something we use to do get slight edge and boost at start. but it does have long term damage to batteries, specially lithium based. some cheaper batteries even catch fire.
Alright guys, got the batteries in the mail today, charging one & will report back later

Li-ion batteries have an overcharge protection circuit built into the battery pack itself and should prevent this from happening. If everything is working as intended, it should be impossible for the phone to overcharge a battery. That's not to say the protection circuit couldn't fail itself.
And I too played with RC batteries and you really can't compare those batteries with these. Different types of battery with different methods of charging.

Companies have been working on better battery technology and it shouldn't be much longer before they start showing up for sale to consumers. That said, this isn't anything more than a cheap knockoff with a different label.

Completely forgot about this thread, my apologies. However after usage I can tell you that this may be a very good alternative to stock, cheaper, whilst offering similar performance. Definitely not 2980 mAh though, however it is not a terrible purchase for $10.
Also the battery seems to fall out very easy when you take the back cover off, it does not fit snugly.
