It should work, as we have the same exact BCM4330 chipset for wifi. However it needs to be compiled for our kernel.

Okay, that makes sense from the responses I got when I tried to run them. Anyone working on this or know how I'd go about doing that?

I don't think you're going to get much help with that here since this forum is specifically for the E4GT.

This means Galaxy Nexus doesn't have a build-in interface to send files via wifi direct?
Perhaps the option to send via wifi only is listed after you are connected to a device? Are you trying to do this between two GNexus'?

did you pressed search like in the video? from there u can search other deives after u activated wifi direct
EDIT: it seems u need a third party app to send files with the gnext..actually no app on the play store to do that...but i could be wrong
The wifi direct in 4.0.3 is buggy as ****, you do need a 3rd party app and i'm assuming that since there aren't many out there is because it's so buggy. A buddy at work here made a quick one and testing was bad, upon further investigation we found that there are a bunch of bugs in the google code.

WTF.....a semi-finished phone with no wifi-direct when pointed it as one of the main selling points and no noise cancellation
I am gotta mad about this "EXPENSIVE" phone.
So who do we bytch and moan to either fix the google code or to implement this feature in core android apps such as the Gallery and Play Music?
Hello everyone,
Can someone test the below WiFi-Direct app on their Galaxy S i9000 and see if it works? And if you don't have another phone to connect to, just tell me if it atleast shows your own device on the screen. If it does work, can you tell me which ROM/mods you are using. I really need to know this ASAP!

Thanks!

I think the owner removed it...due to so much of ignorance about how WiFi-Direct works, people were giving too many negative reviews due to the fact that their phones didn't support for it and so the app was not working for them. BTW, do you think, the ROM you are using has WiFi-Direct drivers included? Do you get an option to enable it in the settings menu? Thanks!
just flash with cwm
for odexed delete settings.odex from app folder before flashing

Did you already tested?. I will try tonight but I think this requires wifi direct, but lets see.
Requires WiFi direct and compatible, powerful enough hardware (Snapdragon S4 and beyond). That means no love for us.

WiFi Direct have not hardware limitations, it limited only by sertification of devices. And Xperia S is not sertificated only because of Sony. I currently investigating how to port and enable WiFi Direct and screen mirriring for Xperia S for month. The problem is that qualcomm has not released wifi drivers with p2p functionality for S3 processor which we have. BUT on test firmware of HTC Sensation WiFi Direct seen working, and i currently searching for files in that ROM which i must copy. If anyone could help - try to find what files, drivers, libs etc. are needed to setup this features.
Sorry for bad English - i am from Ukraine

Why do you think so? If WiFi Direct have no such limitations, and Screen Mirroring which working over WiFi Direct, why it should have such limitations. It is open source technologies, but it is very strange open source - i couldn't find any sources on the web. So it's up to us to find how it work.
I investigated that there is only one device in the world wits Snapdragon S3 8260 which have WiFi Direct in official firmware - it is Asus Eee Pad MEmO 171. i have it's firmware, but it is in raw disk image formate and it didn't opening in any utility. Could someone help? link to firmware 625 Mb

Because S3 isn't powerful to run it without problems. It's like: you have an Ferrari with all of their goodies, but a VW Fox engine and put it to race against other normal Ferraris. It will go? Yes, but won't win.

there is a file named "libwfds.so" located in "system-vendor-lib" that u need to replace with the modified version below...i just uploaded a rom ive been working on with the fix included if u would like to test it out which i'll link to below as well. The solution was proivided by @esgie for the notepro 12.2 LTE which uses the same chipset (snapdragon 800) as our device & also has the same version 4.4.2 android...i can personally confirm that this works well since i spent 2 hours testing it out myself the other night

It was good for a lil laugh & it's a minor mistake (never even noticed until @JaylanPHNX pointe it out below :silly but i wouldnt want someone to miss this info because of a mispelled word...also i'm glad that the fix works for u as well
I had to give you a thanks because of the typo in the thread title. I can't stop laughing at the thought your screen mirroring problem could be flatulence related.

I left some info out of that post...first u need to make sure that u in fact set the proper permissions which should be rw-r--r-- (0644) then u will most likely need to wipe both the regular & dalvik cahe before it will work (or u could just flash the rom in the same post but u would still need to wipe afterwards). i used the above method to connect to a samsung smart tv with the screen mirroring function built in multiple times...if u are using the allshare hub then there have been reports of people needing to actually reset the device (hub) and/or also needing to long press on its name in the list & put in some sort of code
Hi,
Thanks for your farther guidance and help, my sccreen mirroring is functioning. Again, thanks.

I wondered if MirrorLink was possible with the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G?
(This isn't the same as Android Auto which almost every Android device is capable of. MirrorLink is quite an exclusive feature)
The official Mirrorlink website is very slow to update and by the time it does Note 10 will be old news. So I'd like to know if it can do it now? Can anyone confirm if it does or doesn't?
Plus points for those who've actually done it.
Thank you!!

yes ,I have a note 10+ and mirrorlink works fine

Yep. Here's a screenshot from my Note 10+
Hi, I’ve been hunting all over the web hoping to see how I can mirror any app to my cars infotainment screen with a new Note 10+5g from Verizon. I’ve been using the iPhone jailbroken for a few years now so I’m behind on Android compared to back in the day when I was deep into Android adding roms or simply rooting my Android device. If I bought this new Note 10+5g from Verizon, I am hoping to stream a movie app to the car’s screen even while the car is moving for passengers to watch. The car has CarPlay and Android Auto and the screen also has a “projection” icon because it’s a Chevy. I stumbled upon this post and you sound like you know how to do this. Can you verify how I can go forward keeping in mind I will be buying the Verizon variant of the phone? I just need to be certain this is possible or the phone won’t work for my needs. Thanks in advance for any assistance at all. Would be very grateful. Also, just out of curiosity, do you happen to know if the Verizon variant can be rooted? I’ve found no easy answer because you never know if people are talking about the Exynos version in the development posts. Thank you so much for possibly answering.
Solution
Hey folks,
I'm new. Came in via Google for this very problem.
I've read the posts but saw nowhere a solution or remedy.
If there's any info available I just got the Note10+ 5gcand I kept saying to everyone. There's gotta be a way to mirror by now.... Etc etc
Anyhow if anyone could let me know how to do this that would be great.
Thank you,
Muntsy

My Galaxy Note 10+ 5G used to work with mirrorlink, but when I upgraded to Androd 10, mirrorlink stopped working. Samsung were no use, saying that my car was the problem. In the end I downgraded the OS to Android 9 to get mirrorlink working again.
