if it says inaccurate signal for car navigation, usually its because the gps signal isn't locking.
have u tried using it outdoor? when it was working how long does it take to have a lock? was it accurate?
if not u can download either gps tools or gps data from play store to update your agps
or edit the NTP servers in gps.conf according to your location

11.2.6 Last good version.
With 12.xx 13.xx sily programming
Kills basic gps functions. It does internet connections while handling gps info. This is very bad.... Ig you lose the cpnnection gps will stop kan last several minutes...
You lost tons of gps signals buffered up.mostly crashing cmx.x
If you are lucky you get info minutes to late.

lol yea 12.1.3 is better! BtW ive realised that original sygic version makes gps work but cracks make it do not work
Sometimes it works sometimes it does not.its most dependent on wifi on internet access. In any case with this low a basic gps quality im not buying such a product.( gps finding satelites very slow often no more satelited on restart or waiting forever with 11 fixed satelites on lock often waiting longer then the drive itself
.
The trial version(official) is clearly bad. See description 12.1.1-12.1.2-12.1.3 13.1beta1/beta2 all versions have the same flaw. No or broken network= huge delays up to 10 minutes google maps are faster.
Verry long gps delays where tomtom and old versions 11,2,6 have no gps problems at all
Vetsion 11.2.6 crashes cm 7.2 at least every half an hour.Instable software.... Under such conditions i prefere a simple working( more primitive user interface) of TomTom.
Start delay 30sec gps delay unnoticable.
Delays only arrose on sygic.
Ps there is an additional problen sygic above 80km/hr zoomed out low problems . Problem mainly arrise between 5 and 50km/hr.
Exactly when looking for a destination.
No problems like that on TomTom except heavy non driver friendly
User interface

Same problem was on GingerVillain
So I can't run any sport tracking app...frustrating.
Anybody knows where is the problem?
I put GPS on and in the notification area GPS is blinking, but can't find it...why?
Stand outside preferably when the sky is clear. To lock on you preferably need a clear view of the sky.
My phone takes around 15 to 20 minutes to lock on.
There's no sense man....it's too much time. Something's wrong with it...

I've had the same problem. It doesn't depend on ROM, as I've tested the GPS with CM7 RC's, Oxygen, Redux and stock.
What I've find helpful, is app called GPSfix from the market. I am sorry I can't post links as I am a new user.
It reduced the time to find the GPS signal from about 20 minutes to 2 minutes.
You can also look up to system/etc/gps.conf to find out what NTP Server your phone is set up to. You can find NTP servers from site pool.ntp.org.

Which radio baseband version are you using?
I've found about equal gps signal with the current Oxygen 2.0. stock, 32.54 and 32.49.
Currently I'm with 32.49 and I think it has the best battery life and wireless signal to me.
So thanks some guys for the answers

SECOND EDIT: fasterfix.apk don´t fix my problem
Hmm that's weird. ROM problem? I don't think so.
Yea.. FasterFix is an app in the market. Which relates to the gps.conf that I am talking about. Basically you have change your ntp(Network Time Protocol) to your nearest.
You have to reboot once you changed them so it will take effect. I am also having problem now getting a fast fix. Last time was fast, now so slow. Practically when I am driving, I have to stop my car and allow it to get a fix first(about 3 minutes). If I was attempting to get a fix while driving it will take minutes(maybe 10 minutes?). Sigh.

go menu - tools - manage A-gps state - Reset it and then download it and place your phone on a flat surface somewhere outside your house till it gets a fix/lock
then shut down your phone, put the sim card in
and you'll notice that you'll have a way faster fix/lock after that

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
It depends on the problem. The OP said TeleNAV worked fine. That means GPS is ok but for some reason google maps isnt able to keep access to the location function of the phone. The GPS fix flashable file is actually GPS drivers from another phone (facinate, I think) but since it isnt actually a problem with the GPS, reinstalling google apps could solve the problem.

THe GPS_fix file only corrects the problem with only connecting to 4 satellites (with it, you can connect to the max number visible). Sometimes people were having a problem with google nav because it went to 3 satellites and it would lock up. The GPS fix doesn't necessarily fix problems with GNav. So if you want to get more than 4, you would still need this.

Thanks! I ended up deleting Google Maps and reinstalling it along with flashing this GPS fix and solved 95% of my navigation problems. My phone did, however, lock up twice, once when someone called and the other at random but overall, it worked and got me from point a to b!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
Some of your lockups may be related to low memory. For instance Facebook, if you use it, will always stay running, but uses about 11MB of RAM. But when you open it, Facebook uses anwhere from 30-50 MB until you force close it. You may want to clear memory when using navigation. You can use the Taskmanager if you don't have a Taskkiller or Memory Manager app.
Hi I have a data plan with Rogers so the a-gps should be picking location with maps or waze. I was driving this morning but the gps was searching the whole time. I was on 4g during this time. All 3 of the boxes under location services are checked.
Thanks for any ideas
Depends heavily on the position inside your car.
The closer to a window or the windscreen the better. Try holding it up to the drivers window for a few seconds and see if it locks on.
Even the best GPS isn't going to work if it's completely shielded from the satellites by the metal roof.

Should not have to restart your phone every time you want to use navigation.
I am having the same issue.
The GPS icon won't even display in the info bar without a restart.
Do you think this is a hardware or software issue ??
I notice about once a day on average that the gps icon will show up in the status bar. Sometimes it's only for a second or two and sometimes it's there for a couple of minutes. One time I saw it and it just seemed to last forever (I didn't time it but I'd guess 15-30 minutes).
I've gotten messages a few times about apps not being able to access location services. I don't use maps very much but I had it open the other day and it just froze up on me. No message about gps but I didn't keep the app open very long after it was obvious it wasn't going to work.
I'm on rogers in Ottawa.
Edit: Just played around in maps/navigation and gps flat out doesn't work. It was using cell tower triangulation and searching for gps the whole time. I had to turn on wifi to get an accurate location.

Anyone have a home made solution or is this a warranty issue?
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app
So, after I posted last night I went out side and checked my GPS. Sitting on the steps infront of my building I conected to GPS in google maps and navigation right away - it worked like a charm.
Then I noticed it said "4G" instead of LTE in the status bar. I live downtown surrounded by buildings and I drop to "4G' on my front steps like 90% of the time. So, I get up and walk down the block and my LTE kicks in. Low and behold, I lost GPS. It only happened briefly but I lost the signal during the switch. Then I read that the note 2 only has a-GPS and lacks regular GPS. I don't know a ton about this stuff but I did read that connecting to GPS can sometimes be an issue if you only have a-GPS and your connection sucks.
Hopefully this is something that can be fixed with a software update. Who knows, maybe this is why those of us with the I317/I317M are the last ones to get the OTA update. I'm gonna call rogers today and let them know about the issue and see what they say. I don't wanna go through the hassle of exchanging my phone if every handset has this issue right now.
Are you using the Perseus kernel? If so GPS does not seem to work correctly regardless of which location provider is used. I reverted to stock and my GPS works.

Right now I'm stock/unrooted and I intend to stay that way for the time being. I'll be heading to the mall later so I'll pay a visit to the Rogers store and Wireless Wave (awesome third party wireless store in Canada - they really know their ****) and see what they say.

So, long story short. Nobody has any clue and the unusually clueless staff at the rogers store (casual Christmas employees) basically said I need to talk to Samsung cuz my 15 days are up. The guys at wireless wave hadn't heard anything about anybody having any issues with gps. Finally, I went to Telus and found someone who actually had a clue and she said it was the first she'd heard of it and actually recommended I check xda.
On my way home now and then I'll call rogers. I'm not hopeful about the outcome lol.
Stay tuned...

Hello folks,
Just an update .. I have been playing around with waze (free at the appstore) for the last day and a half and my gps has been flawless.
Our GPS issues could more then likely be with the actual Navigation app that comes pre installed.
By the way Waze seems to be very impressive I must admit :good:
I used something similar to that app posted.the ones I have is called gpstest.showing 0 satellites for me.like another poster said, should not have to restart the phone or flash firmware on it for GPS to work.it should work otb
Thanks for the feedback

Interesting... I've had this issue happen only once. Nothing I did would start a GPS search. I waited about 2 hours outdoors in a car. Once I restarted the phone, it had a lock on lots of sattelites within 10 sec.
It hasn't happened since.
I have found the first real issue with the M8.
The GPS fails during navigation and cannot get proper lock. That meant it kept trying to recalculate routes etc...
My friends have also had same issue.

Google navigation and TomTom both failed on different M8s.
It works for a bit, but when it goes wrong you will know about it.
I am hoping only software, but I have no idea of issues or how to fix it.
If you are rooted or unlocked, try this GPS config ... its for quick good AGPS lock before actual GPS one.

I'm not adversed to anythng BUT I have just bought a £500 plus phone. I would rather not void a warranty yet.... also some of my apps won't work on a rooted device.
I have no problem on my phone. all is ok.
GPS has been the best I've ever experienced on a smartphone. Locks quickly and accurately and the only device ever to get a decent lock inside my concrete flat.
However, yesterday the GPS failed completely whilst driving with clear view of the sky. A reboot fixed it and it was then rock solid again.
That's the only time it's done it in about a week since owning it with about 20 hours driving with it.
I'm hoping that means it's a software issue somewhere.

Yep gonna agree works perfect with copilot. Also better than sygic imo. I also wouldn't bother with Google navigation. Better to use an offline satnav app.
I have this problem too... Doesn't seem to matter which app one are using, it also happens with my golf app... And the only way to fix it, is to reboot the phone.. This is really annoying...
It seems to be related to bluetooth use... If I use BT to play music/listen to audiobook at the same time as I use the navigation app, then I have this problem.. If I turn off the BT, then the problem does not seem to appear... I am saying seem to, because it seems to be random when this occurs so not 100% sure that turning off BT fixes the problem but so far I have not had this problem when BT is off..
I also thought this was fixed in the latest update but yesterday it happend again....
