Tasker not working properly. Due to low memory? - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

I have set up a few profiles with tasker. Some are set to turn silent mode on under certain conditions. All the other tasks seem to work e.g. screen rotation on, auto brightness off etc but for some reason silent mode doesn't always turn on.
I have volume ace installed and previously used it to shedule silent mode. I have turned off the sheduling.
Does anyone know why tasker is having problems engaging silent mode?
If I go into tasker and play the task it seems to work fine. It just won't always engage silent mode on its own.

Working fine for me, take it you're using the paid version & you arnt using the trail & it has run out? Maybe try uninstalling the other app you were talking about? Maybe that's why you're getting problems with tasker not working how it should be?

I have been having a play. I was using the trial version but it hadn't run out. Tasker gives me a low memory notification and afterwards seems to act unreliably. It isn't just silent mode, I have noticed other taskes not being performed properly I have Total recall, Lightflow and Doubletwist (with airtwist) all running.
Is there a way round this low memory issue without removing any other programs?

Driving Safety Script- Automation?

Hello,
I use my Evo everyday for work. I rely heavily on Google Maps, what always bothers me is that I operate in two different modes during the day. When I am driving I like to turn off all distractions.
One mode where I have:
-Orientation set to Lock portrait
-Auto Sync set to On
-Text Messages auto receive on
-GPS Off
Then when I drive I usually spend a couple minutes changing it to:
-Orientation set to Lock landscape
-Auto Sync set to off (disables K-9 mail sync)
-Text Messages auto receive off
-GPS on
Is there a way to create a application or script that I can easily run to switch back and forth between these manual modes? Thank you,
Have you tried Tasker? There's a free 7 day trial on the Tasker website, you can try it out and see if you can get it set up to do what you're wanting. After the 7 days you'll have to purchase it, I think it's $6-$7. There are free alternatives to it that may do what you need as well, like Settings Profile Lite and Llama. I've never used the free ones, and I only tried Tasker for the trial period because I didn't really have a use for it. There's a bit of a learning curve, so you may want to read some tutorials on it.

Great I will take a look at Tasker. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar need. Thank you for your reply.
Yep. Tasker is what you want.
For instance, my in-car setup is:
When connected to power AND AUX audio cable are plugged in:
Media volume 15
Silent Mode OFF
Bluetooth ON
Set secondary profile to auto-reply to sms messages
Turn off button LEDs
Display brightness 30 if after 7:35pm OR 255 if before 7:35pm
Load app Car Home
When power or headphones are unplugged, it reverts back to the way it was set before it ran the profile. It's really cool.
I have a few other profiles setup too. Mostly to put the phone in silent mode when I'm at work, or flash the battery % on the screen at unlock when its below a certain point.
Fun stuff to play around with, having root lets you use a lot more of the features.
Yes tasker is the app for me. Heres to Safe Driving! Thank you,

[Q] Is there a way to let one contact ring while phone is silent?

I'd like to somehow configure it so that the phone will ring when my wife calls even if I have the phone on silent (if I'm sleeping away from home and there's an emergency).
Any way to do this?
Thanks.
Set a silent ring tone for all of your contacts except her
Try RingMaster from the Market...
My go to tool for these kinds of things is always Tasker, very versatile.
Download a Silent ringtone with the Zedge app and set it as you phone ringtone. Set a normal ringtone for anyone you want to hear.
I use setting profiles to create a night/sleep profile that keeps the phone quiet, unless someone in my family group calls.
I have this set on a time schedule that depends on the day.
Does lots if cool stuff like silence your phone during meetings, lower volumes during work etc... its a little easier to use than tasker IMHO.
I haven't tested yet but Llama has this function called Noisy Contact which allows you to set a different ring volume to some contacts while the phone itself keeps the original volume setting.
Just search market for llama

Llama is fantastic. My phone goes silent at night, but if my wife calls it will ring.

Yeah llama can do a lot more than just profile managing. If set properly it could potentially boost your battery life a little. I ask it to turn off wifi and sync at night if I'm home, which is kinda nice.
I would love to see NFC implementation tho

Try Selective Silence
You could do it also with Xposed and Xblast Tools. Use Quiet Hours for all day and whitelist your one contact. You could even set how many times she or he can get through while those hours are active

[Q] Is this possible to do?

Was wondering if this was possible. If I put my phone on silent, is it possible to have certain phone #'s still ring ?
Just wondering, as this was a great feature on my Blackberry....
Currently running 4.3
Thanks
Not natively on android but you can probably get that to work using tasker app.

Llama can have noisy contacts too, it also has pretty good sound profile mangement. I usually have my phone to almost silent when I am not logged into my home wireless network and at home I have the ringtone all the way up, Llama switches that automatically. If I need a completely silent phone I just activate my silent profile and lock it for x minutes/hours, after that time it switches back to the right profile. It is not as powerfull as Tasker, but its way easier to create rules and profiles, also it doesn't need root (but I guess Tasker also doesn't for simple things?).
hmmm, thanks I'll check those out

Get theatre mode shortcut back

Is there anyway to get the theatre mode double press shortcut back? Having to pulldown and tap a small menu button is really bothering me.
Also tripple press for brightnes boost not working.
A must have on a sunny day.

I really miss the single tap waking the screen and putting it back into ambient mode. It allowed for turning my screen on and off without causing finger prints or possibility of undetected touch due to dry fingers. Palming the screen to turn off/enable ambient mode, used to intermittently result in onscreen actions being pressed like starting my stopwatch, or even worse stopping my stopwatch after I had just started it. I must have used single press of the button 100x per day. Now I have to actually wait for my screen to turn itself off. This alone has to half the battery life on the watch.
Double tap button for cinema mode was also a nice feature but I only do it once per day at night to save power so enabling through the swipe down menu isn't a big deal for me.
Worse is the three tap to turn on max brightness temporary. Today outdoor i Couldn't see my watch screen. Not seeing it also makes it impossible to enter brightness menu to increase brightness. I start to get more and more annoyed by 2.0 ?

I haven't tried it yet, but I saw this app, Wear Button Remapper, recommended on Reddit.
It says it can remap your button long press to any app, or to theater mode if your watch is rooted.
There are a ton of things that are frustrating, but I have figured out a way to cope with most of it.
For Do Not Disturb Sync, there is an app that restores this functionality.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rkr.weardndsync
For theater mode, I setup a tasker task using autowear to run an app that allows toggling theater mode.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidWear/comments/64qitr/toggle_theater_mode_on_wear_20/
I'm guessing that wear button remapper would allow us to enable theater mode without root using this app.
It's great that devs have developed apps to remap long press. Hopefully it won't be long before they can map double and triple tap to let us use the 1.5 theater and max brightness modes again.

Whoa!! You DO Rule!
This is soooo frickin' awesome, I am just thrilled. I finally got one of the automatons I missed on AW 1.5 with Wear Shell. It took me a couple tries to get the task set. I use Sleep as Android and it supports Tasker but it would not trigger this app adding it to my existing profile, but just setting Toggle Theater Mode to run when Sleep runs did the trick!

Yeah, there does seem to be some sort of glitch with the tasker autowear integration. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems to run the same autowear task even if you reconfigure it in tasker. The fix seems to delete the task and create a new one with a different name.
I use minimal and elegant as my watch face and was able to use the interactive functions to run the tasker task. I now have a button on the watch face that allows quick access to sleep tracking that enables do not disturb and theater mode.
You have to use SleepWear for the app name instead of start sleep tracking which makes it a little more difficult. Any ideas on how to find the app package name on wear?

I just made a second task that triggers on the Sleep app starting, so I have two tasks - one runs on the Sleep Start intent and the other to trigger your app via Auto Wear. It works great. If I do open the Sleep app during the day then I do get theater mode, but I'm fine with that to get the night time auto start. :good:
In an adb shell:
Code:
pm list packages -f
I can even pipe it through grep or more on my linux box which is good.
edit -
Code:
[email protected]:~$ adb shell
sturgeon:/ $ pm list packages -f | grep urbandroid
package:/data/app/com.urbandroid.sleep-2/base.apk=com.urbandroid.sleep

Phone keeps lowering volume every few mins help!

So out of no where my phone has just been lowering randomly every 5 to 10 mins and it's definitely not a faulty volume button it sets it to an exact level every single time. Also when connected to Bluetooth in my car instead of lowering volume it changes to only the left channel speakers working till I reset Bluetooth. So idk how to fix this
Some crazy app?

Obviously, these aren't settings you want to keep enabled, but they may tell you more about the problem.
Ultimately, you'll have to find the app and deal with it (if I'm right that it is an app).
