[Q] [SOLVED] How to install modded ICS with Odin? - Samsung Captivate Glide

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994902
Can someone help me to install this files with odin to get rooted ICS4.0.4 on my device without bloatware? Or point me to some posts with step-for-step reading material since I can't find this. I already accomplished updating my device with clockworkmod 6.0.0.1 and Odin but I can't find out what files to use in the posted zip archives (I'm a noob with android modding). Ofcourse big props to my man dman3285 for posting these nice releases :good:
EDIT: sorry I already found out how it works I just installed it via cmw

rooted, flashed root66, now lost root

So I was rooted and running cynogenmod 10. I decided to go to root66 and I love it, but I noticed I no longer am rooted. I have supersu listed as an app but when I click on it it says "there is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
I tried to boot into clockwordmod recovery and reflash it, but I know have stock android recovery. So I tried to download clockwordmod recovery through odin and it said pass but when I go into recovery it is still android recovery.
I d/l the toolkit but get an error using it.
I want to root to run wifi tether, what is the easiest way to get back root?

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be posting here with this type of problem...I see your post count so I can kind of figure out why now...shoot me a PM and I'll help you out. In the meantime, a root66 should solve your problem...are you using Odin correctly?

Try this:
First install a fresh copy of Superuser from the google play store. (free download)
Then install "TWRP recovery.
To install TWRP you need to install "GooManager" first which is a free download from the google play store.
Once installed, simply click the menu softkey on your phone and select "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
It's that easy.
Most likely you have a corrupted CWM in your phone which is missing files or some of the files in it are corrupt..
If GooManager pops up asking for root access and you allow it then TWRP recovery will fix your root issue I am sure.
Good Luck!

Help me out here please,
I too post questions and hope to get answers to troubleshooting, as the OP did. Open the main page, and there is NO sub forum for root66 listed.
The OP needed an answer to his troubleshooting and thus posted it in Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting...
What is wrong, with that? Why does it have to be moved ? Is it NOT a question? Does the OP not need Help? Does the OP not have a question?
How is this query so different from others that is must be posted elsewhere, and Why?
It truly makes one hesitant on posting something and later not be able to find it because some almighty god has moved it..
I just don't understand. I must be wrong in thinking this was a forum one could seek to find help in a common interest. Trust me,
I am just totally confused. err... I couldn't find a confused sub forum to post this in. Sorry.
1) I want to know what error you got from the toolkit.
2) root66 comes with root access. It's kind of the whole point.
I don't know what you did to end up with the mess you have now, but here is how you fix it. You need to back up your data, and wipe everything. Then Odin root66 if that is what you want. Then if you want CWM, download the one from my signature. If you leave auto reboot checked in Odin, you need to drop to recovery mode before the phone boots (when Odin reboots it), because there is a script that will overwrite custom recoveries when the phone boots. When you exit CWM, it will tell you to disable the stock recovery. Just choose yes and done.

[Q] Can I root N7105 on XXUEMK9 and install other rooms?

Apologies if this has been asked before but I've searched the site and couldn't find the same question, similar one for other phones or for other build versions.
I'd really like to root my phone and go onto a version of kit kat
Trouble is none of the guides I've followed seem to work.
I've tried downloading odin and tried the manual methods of installing twrp then omni room. Even tried using the cyanogen installer but nothing sticks.
Reading through several other threads it looks like it's the knox issue which seems to be resolved for other builds, but can anyone tell me if it works for mk9?
Cheers

[Q] Install CyanogenMod on LG G3 d855

Hi,
Sorry if this is a silly question. How do I go about installing CyanogenMod on the d855? I had a OnePlus One and had to return it due to a fault but loved CyanogenMod and want to use it on the G3.
I rooted the phone and installed bump as I believed this was the only way to install TWRP on this device. However I realised i could only installed Bump'd ROMS . I therefore put it back to stock as I want to use the official install. How do I go about installing this? I may have the wrong end of the stick. Any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.
I am sorry if I am asking a daft question, this is all new to me, please help
Thanks
Root via Purpledrake > Install TWRP via Bump! method > Install CM12 .zip
That's the only way, and the good way. Google on how to install TWRP via Bump!. Links are seriously right here on XDA. Bump! in in the OG Dev section with a very clear explanation.

Thanks for your reply. I managed to root and install bump and I then tried the install from the CyanogenMod website which didn't work. This is where I am struggling. I wanted to use the official install.

Get your .zip file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-official-nightly-t2995524
Nightly information can be found on here: http://www.cmxlog.com/12/d855/
Idk what you mean by official install, the zip in the thread is official.

Flashify.. God.. If you're using flashifhy and something happens, you're on your own. Only an idiot who is incompetent of using a few adb commands use spoonfed programs like Flashifhy. I never, and especially to newbies, suggest the use of Flashify.
Please OP, for the sake of solving your own problems: stay 10 foot away from programs like Flashify.

Dude are we talking about the same Flashify? It works perfectly for flashing and backup/restore of recovery`s and kernels in .img format. Can`t imagine users having issues with it unless unless for the incompetent idiots you we`re refering to
At my friend's G3. I suggest to flash it with Flashify and He hadn't got any problem. It's easier for newbies flashify, OP you can go for it

OK, so I have the ATT V410 tablet, still in factory form. I've been wanting to do more with this and have been doing a lot of research on acquiring root. I would like to install the Skinny ROM onto it and was thinking this might be my solution for root as I don't currently have access to a PC to perform with Purpledrake. So, of course I went through the process of trying to install TWRP first but was unable because Flashify requires root to begin with. So it appears that I'm back to square 1 here... or am I? What I'd like to know is if I can do all this WITHOUT first acquiring Root via Purpledrake and a PC....?

Just got my new LG G Pad 7.0 LTE v410.
Want to install this ROM via TWRP or CWM.
Can anyone please guide the steps to install the custom recovery on this tablet and the download links to the custom recovery files. Looks like without the custom recovery I cannot move forward to install this ROM.
Thanks for your help.

V410 = u4310
I just got a UK410 and I have it rooted with DP Tools and installed TWRP bumped.
My question is: do the V410 rom threads pertain also to the UK410? Can I use a rom for the V410 in the UK410 since they are the same except for carrier. I am not using the LTE phone functions, just as a tablet. When I purchased the UK410, it was listed as WIFI only, which led me to believe it was a V400, but they sent a UK410.
LG 410 stock with functional Stock Lollipop update
Hey there I have finally found a solution to this problem. XDA will not allow me to create a new thread to post it but if you still need it let me know. Basically you will be installing the rooted stock 410 found here on xda, then installing a stock recovery image using simple recovery, and then running ota update. You do loose root on the lollipop update. I have the necessary files and a step by step if you need them.

Turn off, hold volume up button and plug in USB.
Tablet will turn on, telling you to hold volume up button until download mode starts, so hold volume up, and download mode will start.

Rooting Stock ROM

Guys,
I need help regarding root of Stock ROM Lollipop. 5.0.
I unlocked boot loader, flashed twrp recovery but when it comes to flash rooting tools (Android revolution hd rooting tool) it does not flash and does not root the ROM. In recovery it says failed/ unable to mount cache ...
Am I doing something wrong or it the zip file which may not be compatible with stock rom?
Do you guys have any zip file which can root stock rom or the best would be if there is any rom already rooted but not modified. I like to stick to stock rom but want to get rid of bloatware.
I appreciate any advice, help or solution which may you provide to me.
Please do not ask me to search on google or XDA because I already did it and bother many people in the specific forums. As a result that they could not provide me with the solution I was forced to write in Help& Troubleshooting forum.

Don't use a tool.
Download the update SuperSU.zip from here and flash it in recovery.
After the flash, find SuperSU in your app drawer and open it. You will be prompted to update binaries. Do that.
That's it. You are rooted.

I second that. The tool used by the OP is probably not updated to work on Lollipop.
Also, OP should make sure to run an updated version of TWRP (2.8.7) as anything but the last few (several?) versions of TWRP will not work on the Lollipop hboot.
