Hello,
i am very desperate.
I want a permanent root on my WFs so I unlocked it.
The next step was to Install a custom recovery. I tried different one but non of them ist starting
I tried this one:
CWM 5.0.2.6
CWM 5.0.2.8
Touch CWM 5.0.2.8
I used fastboot to install them. The flashing works good. But after reboot an selecting "recovery" nothing happens.
None of the is starting. Either I got a black screen or my WFs hang up or it is booting normaly.
What can I do?
I have a WFs with Android 2.3.5, Software# is 2.26.401.3
My HBOOT looks like this:
---unlocked----
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.09.0099

maybe a bad download, try redownloading recovery.img or try a totally new link.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?1rdxmtpx26201or
this is for cwm 5.0.2.8.
did you get any errors at all when flashing recovery?
(not trying to be rude)
for example, did you leave it to fully install.....it has to 'send' the .img to the phone first, then install it....
in cmd did it say send OK and then flash OK or soemthing similar?
i'm thinking that if you get black screen, maybe it sent it but didn't install....either that, or as i said, maybe a bad download?

I tried 3 different recoverys so it is unlikely that three different files are damaged.
the cmd says as you mentioned, no errors, everything seems so bee good.
it's not the same error when flashing one of the custom recoverys. with one I got a black screen, with another one the WFs start's with a HTC-screen and hang up, and with the third one after a some time of waiting, the device is starting normally

how long did you leave it at the white htc screen? it is supposed to show that first then it boots into recovery?
::EDIT::
and while it's unlikely, it's not impossible....try the link i posted and see if it works? nothing to lose right?
try flashing the recovery with the SD Card rather than via fastboot...

sorry, but I am a beginner in android.
how does this work?
simply copy the xxx.img-File to the root of the sd-card?
and then?
Is flashing a other recovery (custom recovery) possible with the original software?
The only thing I I have done is to unlock HBOOT.
The WFs is still S-ON.

My problem is the same. Same configuration for me, but no recovery boot is possible, I can see only HTC logo nothing more. You can try to make zip file with recovery image and name it |PG76IMG.zip|, place it into SD card root and boot into bootloader. But it did not work for me at all. But U can try.

Did you make a GoldCard of your microSD first, before putting the PG76IMG.zip file on the microSD? If not try creating it as a GoldCard, put the PG76IMG.zip file on it and boot to hboot.

zip file has been parsed, and then I choose update in menu and it finished OK. then I wanted to boot into recovery but still nothing happened.

I flashed it via fastboot and also via Goldcard.

You can re-install the original recovery.img file.
I just wounder if the newer H-boot are doing some sort of signature check of the img file and that's why they fail.

yes, the original recovery is the only one which is booting (symbol of smartphone with a red triangle with exclamation mark.
But with the original recovery, I can't flash something to get permanent root.
Permanen root, this is the only thing I want.
I dont unterstand why this is so difficult to get this.

Maybe if you could(do not know) down grade your H-boot to 1.03.XXX then it would allow the CWM recovery to be properly installed. Just a thought.

I don't understand why only I have this problem. I think many people with the same device have the same software and noboday else says something.
It's a lot of effort because I have to install 2 times everything because at the moment there is no opportunity to make a full backup
I found some postings which says that downgrading software for WFs would be not possible. The only thing would be to cheat the number of the version but then it's still the same software on the device.
Are there other things that I can do?

Find a cell shop by you and have them S-off the phone with a XTC-clip. Then you will be able to do what ever you want to the phone.

Place this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip, on your sdcard in no folders and boot to hboot. Wait a few secs and hboot should find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install. This is the latest officially signed ruu, it will wipe everything and get you to compleete stock. There is a way to do it with a pc, but you have to be able to boot the phone to the os for that to work.

I have done this so many times no with multiple microSD cards and a few different PB31IMG.zip files. I can get to hboot and it sees the file, but after checking it it says that there is no image. I tried to flash CWM recovery using fastboot and it says it is successful, however when I try to go to recovery, it restarts the phone and sits on the white screen that says HTC Incredible. It will stay on that screen or continually boot to that screen.
Does anyone have any ideas for me? I don't care which software or ROM I get on here, I just want to get it running!

How do I wipe cash without being able to get to recovery? And pulling the battery only gets me out of the boot loop.
I can get to the HBOOT menu, but if i choose anything other than fastboot it just restarts and get stuck in the loop. I can't connect via adb either.
I'm not super experienced with this stuff, everything I've tried so far comes from somewhere on these forums. Any other help would be appreciated!

You need to back up your sdcard to your pc. Then format the sdcard fat32 with the pc (even if its already fat32). Place this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip only back on the sdcard, in no folders named exaxtly PB31IMG.zip which it should already be named. Put the sdcard back in the phone and boot to hboot. It should find the file, parse it, and prompt you to press vol up to install. Once installed remove the PB file from the sdcard and put your backed up files back on the sdcard.

I didn't realize I could erase cache through fastboot! unfortunately, it didn't seem to solve the issue. When i try and erase recovery so that i can flash a new one it tells me in cmd "failed, remote: not allowed". I can flash a new one and it tells me its successful, but when i select recovery from HBOOT it still drops me back into the loop.

What is your hboot version? It certainly has strong impact to it. Did you have any JB ROM before?
Watch out your battery, too!
P.S. did you mean CWM? It's the one I am using, too.

You must have had AOSP ROM! For Sense ROMs you must upgrade HBOOT (read OP in mwilky's thread)!
What is your cid (if you know it)? Or, try fastboot getvar version-main, to check it. This will indicate which RUU/nandroid you should get, if you want to upgrade.
Thank you! Ill get to it tonight
I am not able to update HBOOT
I got my CID and RUU, unlocked, installed the ROM but there are no OTA updates and the HBOOT is still 0.95, android 4.0...I tried to flash the zip for my CID 032 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376, but I cannot flash it from fastboot - i get "error cannot load firmware.zip unknown error"

S-ON doesn't have anything to do with your possibility to see SD card. Try in CWM "mount USB storage". That should work.
S-on stays that way. We dont have s-off. Enter the recovery and mount the sdcard as a mass storage device (usb drive) copy the Rom.zip to the root of the sdcard and flash it.
The option is in mounts and storage - last option

Already tried that, but still i only see a few folders there...the JBFWTOOL warned me that it could wipe everything But why is it still S-ON?
Because we don't have s-off....its not developed/hacked yet. And if everthing is deleted you need to install a new clean rom including flashing the boot.img file

I think i forgot to s-off now and the image file a tried to flash was a cyanogen mod 7 witch installs sucessfully but then when it boots up is stuck in htc logo and the cyanogen logo does not come up.the device is not regonized in fastboot.i can enter in cwm recovery but nothing else from here.
is there any way i can do a clean wipe and new install and flash.
Thnx

if you can access recovery then put a rom in the sdcard and flash it.

Sorry but is yours a Desire or Desire HD because as I was expecting you flashed a partition that was not for your device. That is for HTC bravo and yours is HTC Ace....
I would try to flash the right one and see if you can get it fixed.

ok, good because flashing the wrong partition will brick your device. So, if you flashed that, then do the following:
Enter recovery and do a wipe cache and try to boot again

ok, find a RUU (anyone) with main higher than 2.xx and flash it...if that does not solve the issue then I guess you have a bad emmc and you need a mobo replacement.
