I can't find the setting anywhere. I refuse to believe that there is no option for autocorrect in Official Jellybean. Am I overlooking something?
it got ruined with the new update. I suggest a different app altogether. someone might be nice enough to pull the apk from an old ICS rom and you may be able to install it like a normal apk, though it might not since it thinks it is a system app, so it might fail. I hate that also.
Do a search for latinime.apk. I just installed it on my note 2 and the keyboard is amazing, autocorrect is sweet again coming from fruit phone for the last 4 yrs.

Since my post count is so low I have to start a new thread for this, sorry about that.
I just installed the ICS Beta III
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343361
A half hour later or so I get an email from Google 'Welcoming me to my Galaxy Nexus'.
Has this happened to anyone else???
Did you happen to wander into the about section and click on system updates?

Nope, I flashed the ROM then downloaded a couple of apps from the Market as I was doing that I got the email.
All the links go to Google. I am just wondering is it something buried in the ICS code. Once you log on with your Google account it sends out a standard email to the account.
I don't really want to bother any of the dev's with it. They have enough to worry about right now without someone hassling them about something that is not that important in the grander sceme of things.
It's because the galaxy nexus is the only ICS Device with release codes for market so far. That will disappear once a more similar HTC device is released with ICS and we have a broader selection of release codes to choose from. Earlier beta's ran on test codes. They can be changed in build.prop.
Cheers man. I just could not understand it since it did not happen when I flashed the 1st and 2nd beta roms.
Thanks for posting this MrBC I also got this email and was curious about it.
I got this email as well MrBC...
Of course they can track what ROM use are using to browse android market. For example, I have recently update to Android revolution 2.3.5 and now not able to install few app which I used to have earlier on stock ROM 2.3.4.
I also got this
just ignore it lol
what i wondered was if it thinks we have a nexus why can we still not see some android apps lol
It's still beta so there are plenty of bugs. Its possible that there is a framework bug, or some component is missing. Then there is still the fact the a lot of apps on market are listed as not compatible with ICS. I'd expect it to take until 2012 before we have a fully functioning ROM and a fully working market.

So I noticed recently that the samsung keyboard auto correct no longer functions.
I noticed this on ICS and now JB.
Does anyone know why this happened? I have searched the net but no solid answers.
And please before you respond with telling me to try another keyboard like every other thread that I have found I do not care and I am in no way interested in any kbs but the samsung one.
I am trying to get a solid answer if this has affected everyone or just some. Did samsung change the kb or is this just a bug that affects all or maybe just some?
Please if you have good info post. This is driving me insane and I hope to find a resolution.

I have forever. I'm one of the people who has made serval threads. You are forced to another keyboard. Samsung will help you in no way, they claim its a 3rd party app that they don't support when it's their own ****. Once I updated to li3 the Samsung keyboard along with the swype added in, are both broken and won't auto correct. It followed through to lj7 (jb). In the end I gave up because devs don't know any software tweak to fix it, Samsung support is worthless, their only excuse is it will be fixed in the next update from some reps, and yet wasn't.
In the end I was forced to use SwiftKey 3 =/ sorry to say it but go give the free version a try. There's no frustration due to no auto correct. It has 0 lag, 200% better than the Samsung keyboard, auto corrects much better, and ya. Try it out, if you hate it then un install, if you love it, thank me and buy the full version XD. I belive the free version is a 14 day trial
Yeah the stock keyboard sucks big time so I switched to Swiftkey 3 also.
I noticed the problem about the time that I upgraded to ICS as well and still having problems on JB so at this point it is a useless keyboard.
It is such a shame that it seems no one cares. I went and looked at a note 2 at BB today and it seems those as well are not auto correcting either. I wonder if they for some reason removed the feature when they added new options to the keyboard in ICS.
I wish we could just get a straight answer from someone even if it is just telling us they do not plan to bring it back.
I wish there was source available for the keyboard as we could fix it but it that is not going to happen. And I really don't enjoy using smali lol.

Has anyone found any official word about this?? I've found several posts on sprints forums about it but no, sprint employees for this topic refuse to respond to the issue. So as I asked, has anyone seen official word? Factory resets of all forms does nothing, so does doing all updates. I first had this issue after the over the air update for the previous update before jellybean and Samsung claimed it would be fixed in the jellybean update and it still hasn't. And I do realize only Some users have this issue.
Any official word on it or any solutions to fix it would be nice that don't require root.

I would expect it to be fixed when most Samsung bugs get fixed. When you're finally fed up enough to root and find your own fix.
I wouldnt hold my breath. I'd switch to a preferred 3rd party keyboard. Swiftkey 3 is mine.
I have been on SwiftKey but it's just not the same... I miss my Samsung keyboard =/ and I've bee debating lately to root. Mind getting me a tutorial? This time I want to do a nandroid back up of my current system before hand. Like is it possible before root or what
You have been asking about autocorrect for like 4 months and I understand you. But let it go and move to another keyboard.
Had you tried using a backup of the latest keyboard version that worked for you?
EDIT(i dont read you was not rooted) forget about the old version.

Well sadly ya. I know I could fix it If I could somehow downgrade my phone to 2 updates ago when it broke and then re upgrade to this version with the working keyboard. It happened before the last update and persisted through to jb so ya

In the event u take the plunge here's the quickest method with no other changes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36166470&postcount=2 u will need a custom recovery to backup although its not really nessessary. You can get cwm with ROM manager or twrp with goo manager. ignore the step talking about the tether app. Unless u were lookin to do that too
i'm using SWIPE on mine, stock. I had touchpal pro, then rebooted the phone and it's real SWYPE, not the samsung keyboard.. ODD, but whatever. I like it
Hey hey,
Coming from Nexus devices with pure AOSP roms I've never realized how much I took this feature for granted. On the S4 if you misspell a word it won't show up with a red underline which would usually give you an option to tap and see suggestions. This is entirely different than autocorrect (after hitting space) on a keyboard which can be accomplished with latinime or any other jellybean keyboard. I've read Samsung had to remove it for some patents regarding Apple.
Upon reading threads for the s3 and note 2 it seems that this is something that can be done by editing two files secsettings.apk & framework2.jar which is information I came across in this thread for the note2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34829337#post34829337
Does anyone think this same process might work on our S4 as well? Or is there another proven mod already to get the dearly beloved red underlines back?
Not sure if anyone has figured this out yet. I admit it's the one thing that bothers me after moving from iPhone to Android. I flashed the 4.3 Google edition ROM to see if there was any difference but unfortunately it's still lacking. The improved keyboard/autocorrect has made things more tolerable, however I've still missed some misspellings in my work e-mails
With CM 10.2 nightlies out I may be switching soon, but I'm curious if anyone has come up with a solution.

This feature is a part of the keyboard.apk rather than the phone itself. There are dozens of alternate keyboards on the Play store. Many have the redlining feature. You don't even have to be rooted to replace the keyboard

Hey All,
Jelly Beer's 4.2.2 update worked great on my Samsung S3. However, I went out and purchased a new Note 2 GT-N7100 T-Mobile T889. I love the phone. The only problem is that I got used to the keyboard that the guys included in with Jelly Beer 4.2.2 update. In the Input settings, the keyboard is listed as Android keyboard (AOSP). That's the keyboard that I want.
The one that came with the Note 2 is Samsung's own and it's awful. Yes, yes, yes, I've installed just about every other keyboard out there. I've purchased the paid versions and all. Still, nothing does the job as well as the keyboard AOSP. I was literally going to toss the phone because I can't type on it. Then I started to use the gesture part of it, and I'm getting used to that. However, I still want the AOSP one. I've looked all over in the Play store and nothing.
Does anyone have the direct link or the actual .apk that I can download?
Would really appreciate it.

I am wanting the same thing.
yes, there is a google keyboard in the app store. but its not the same as AOSP, AOSP has the symbols as long hold on the letter keys. and you can long press the "." and slide to choose ?! and others.
I tried pulling out the aosp keyboard from carbon rom, if I just install it, it works, but no sliding to type (like swype) and if I move it to system/app and set permissions, then reset, it just force closes... so... it kind of works... but I would really like to be able to slide type.
