[Q] dragon 3.0 rom - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi i have installed dragon 3.0 for the i747 canadian model it is an awesome rom but it has some bugs. Fro ext2sdapp internal doesn't work good it creates image of both internal and external sd cards, also lock screen you cant change the picture using your normal gallery only picture that come with the rom, no call recording it would be nice?
Wifi comes on without even turning it on great battery life though, i had serenity and frosty also m7 but they drain my battery like crazy not sure what to do there..... Any help is appreciated/updates for these awesome roms...

This should probably be in the Rom thread not many devs look in here. I don't recommend cluttering ROM threads though unless you have a legitimate problem and can't find an answer after doing some searching. Anything else is just asking to get flamed.

There is no general best rom, only one that suits ones best likes. But whatever you do, make sure to check out CM and AOKP. And check out franco and lean kernel. Franco has a cool app

There's no best rom; there's wrong forums to ask for it and this is one of them.

Check the General or Q&A sections, there have been so many variations of this question asked over and over in there. This isn't the right section to have this redundant discussion again anyways.
Please post questions in the Q&A section. Development section is only for developers to post their work.
Also, I know you may have not seen this, but this is how we treat the best rom threads.
Thank you. :highfive:

looking for roms (mostly stable)- New too s3 devs.. point me in the right direction?

anything helps.
This will be locked soon. And the most common answer will be "try them all", but you can try FreeGS3 JB in Android Development.
Also search for mods in Themes and Apps for a thread with "morph" in the title for full customization.

With that said post 2 says it all. In apps section you can find the Note 2 apps and add to most ROMs.

I second Josh Beach's jelly bomb jellybean rom as top notch. Quadrupled battery life and improved all aspects of the s3. I came from blazer rom and was blown away by jelly bomb! Until flashing this I was about to get rid of the s3!!

i have started using Jelly Bomb! i love it! only thing i wish it was less themed lol
I have 2 ROMs for you that I have fallen in love with. The first is the latest Paranoid Android with its awesome custom options and battery life. And the other one is the one I'm using now, aokp with ktoonz. This ROM is also very customizable and has given me be best battery life so far.

Welcome to jelly bomb domination!...once you complete a full battery cycle and compare to other roms you will not mind the theming. Read/search the thread for how to mod it. You can get rid of the pull down graphic, slider and even the subdued background image that appears everywhere in v.8.0. At first I wasn't liking some of these either but now I barely notice them.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
The answer to your search depends on whether you want to keep Touch Wiz or not. The upside to Touch Wiz is that you can still use S-Beam etc.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I would just flash for yourself and see what you like best. Different phones react differently to ROMs so what works for some people may not work for you. It seems that most people here are using Jelly Bomb, Wicked Sensation, Paranoid Android, CM10. Try them for yourself, but be sure to give it a few days to settle before you make any decisions on battery life, stability, etc.

i have left jelly bomb and am now trying Frankenstein's kill joy v2.1 and wow am i loving it.. talk about performance and batt life.. quadrants in the 6k range. able to oc to 1890 Mhz using voltage control! super clean ui. can use silkui morphology mods to customize how i want.
idk.. the jelly bomb drove me nuts.. to much theme.
its was fun for the first 3 hours.. but yeah. it didn't grow on me.
i wish there was rom ratings poll.. for each device. and a stability rating along with the rating. if anyone knows someone or is capable of making this happen.. id be all over it! i know there is alot of junk troll crap out on these forms. I was looking at a rom to flash.. and baised off of OP it sounded ligit! then reading through the thread i soon found out that no one had been able to get the thing to even boot.. why cant posts like this be FLAGGED. idk. maybe the moderators were doing a crappy job or something. seems like they come in when least needed half the time ha. anyways. thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction!!!!
gladd this post didnt get deleted.
as for suggestions i think i will try PARANOIDANDROID. i had it running on my epic 4g touch and it was snazzy.. i dont remember why i left it.. i have "the collective" on e4gt now and was loving it.
anyways happy flashing and wish me luck!!

I'm in the same position. I upgraded from my 3 year old EVO 4G and am looking for where to start. This is a whole new learning lesson for me after being so use to roms and upgrading on the EVO. Are there some stable stock roms that have the sprint applications removed already? Which recovery is preferred as well. The EVO pretty much had only one recovery that worked well and Clockwork wasn't it. Not it appears there are 5 or six. TWRP is looking pretty good.
*Maybe this should be it's own thread. Hopefully with better spelling.

[Q] ROM Suggestions

Now i'm a new Samsung Galaxy S III user, just switched from an iPhone 4S on 2/19/13 and currently very happy and loving it more than the iPhone!
Anyway, I got a friend with a Galaxy S III and he suggest I should flash LiquidSmooth ROM, I did and I like it but i'm looking for something a bit more......bug free. Anyone got any suggestions? Pros and Cons to ROMs?
I heard that ParanoidAndroid is good but not sure, feedback?
Thanks!
Welcome to android!
Before a mod shuts this down because these types of threads don't get to stay I will tell your best bet is to read, read some more and then try some out. There a lot of great roms but your the only one who will know if its right for you.
Good luck
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I suggest a stock type ROM. Head over to the android development thread and try a few out. These keep stock feel but little tweaks here and there. SGS3 is quite easy to root and fix mistakes. Root, flash a recovery and explore some ROMs.

Its definitely a matter of personal preference, but my opinion is task 650 AOKP. By itself its a best but coupled with ktoonz kernel you'll be showing it off. As already stated the best thing you can do is read everything not just about a ROM but also kernels and general works, hate to see devs leave because people don't read everything before questioning them to death. Good luck and Happy flashing

best rom for battery life
Hey guys.. so glad this thread is open! Did hours of reading and said eff it...I'm signing up haha
Ive been a proud gs3 ower for a while now and have tried everything from CM, Liquidsmooth, AOKP, and many others. However, I have yet to find a rom with a good battery life. Is it true that there isn't really such thing?
I'm currently running the Liquid-JB-v2.1 . Seems to be running ok with only minor bugs.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Battery life is weaker because those are the all aosp/aokp based on early stage 4.2 roms. Try a touchwiz rom until those get ironed out. I recommend intergalactic or dandroid or loserrom.

task gives plenty of help if you either a) post in the q&a forum with problems or b) post your bugs after full wipe with the appropriate logcats and last_kmsg. Its not his fault if most people are ignorant and don't read the OP. His ROM is one of the most stable I've been on.

If you want to stay on Touchwiz, then DarthStalker (4.1.1)...otherwise Task650 (4.2.2).

[Q] How's the battery life with P.A.C Man rom?

Is it worth switching from moar to P.A.C man? I hate stock based roms, but the battery is incredible.
I also enjoy hybrid a lot.so in your honest opinion do you think it's Mike the switch over to pacman ROM.

I agree with Ninja25. Nowadays, most ROMs (both AOSP and TW) have pretty good battery life. I personally don't mess around with kernels too much, but most people report is that the kernel makes the biggest difference. The main point that kennyglass123 was bringing up was that even though we all have the same phone, one person's setup will not work as well for another person. The best bet is to read the ROM's last 5-10 pages and see what people are reporting on battery life (common topic on each ROM's thread). Typically people will report their settings in order to get those hours out of their phones.
In summary, try out the ROM with stock kernel. If the battery life lacks luster, flash a different kernel (make sure it's compatible with your version of android, 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.2.1, 4.2.2, etc.) and see if it makes it better.
And please, please make a Nandroid backup before messing with anything. It's just good practice.
There are many ways to maximize your battery life on android. Turning off data or WiFi when not in use. Get betterbatterystats and figure out which app is draining the most. Turn off GPS / Bluetooth when not in use. Have your email sync to 2hours or 4 hours syncs. There are so many ways to maximize your battery life. If any of these didn't help then go ahead and use custom kernels. I never found the use of them. Stock kernel does just fine. (My opinions) hope this helps and good luck to you and your battery

ROM recommendation?

I'm currently on liquid smooth and honestly, I loved it until I saw how faulty it was.
First, it reboots after calls sometimes (3 times already). The MMS don't work sometimes (and I have the correct NET10 MMS settings). And it has a couple of other glitches. On the other hand, I love how fast and energy-efficient it is. Anything out there similar but less glitchy?
I recommend using Illusion rom or quantum
Try Slim bean Roms or Carbon pretty similar to liquid IMO

And members are expected to read through the ROM threads to choose the software that will drastically alter their $700 device with. No one but YOU know how you use YOUR phone and what you like. So please invest the time on this development site to carefully read through them before flashing.
