These menus won't work after JB update. Anyone know how to set phone to prefer 4g after the new update?

Tmo is edge or 3g. A very fast 3g they call 4g.
Download battery monitor widget. Add the widget. Click the widget. Select tests from the menu on the bottom. Select device information. Scroll down and you can set radio preferences. Back out using the back button and it will save your setting.

Right. No 4g per the actual definition. Good marketing ploy I guess. Is there a way to use a shortcut key code like before on ics?

I can't find it... I wonder why they removed it.
Someone put some list together of over 30 codes. You will have to search because I am posting from my phone. The battery monitor widget works great. I have used it on all my android phones. Give it a try.

When I go in the regular network settings I can't change it to wcdma only either. It's stuck on auto mode.

Just flashed back to root stock jb and it works fine. Just off been a rom issue? Hmm....

Just curious... What rom did you flash after jellybean update? I plan on playing around with some of the custom roms tomorrow.
Infamous. I dirty flashed it so that may have been why the radio would not stick but, I'm not sure. Wicked is a nice ICS ROM. I have tried a few of wild's ROMs too. They were good. Haven't tried many others.

Agree on wicked. Can't wait for v8.
Just download Phone info from the market. It's so much easier than entering the code and easier then using battery monitor

The stock rom lies .. or rather smudges the truth a little by showing a 4g (or H) even when your not really on that band. If your data speeds have not changed then I'd not worry about it.

That's an ATT port, why dont you flash a ROM made for our phone? Darkside or Infamous are two reliable TW ROMS. AOKP or CM9 are two stable AOSP ROMS.

You shouldn't have to delete the old one. You **should** be able to make a new one and set it as the default.
Yes either use new apn and set as default or better yet just change the network mode of the phone to the second option so that it never looks for the lte in the first place! (GSM/hspa auto mode instead of GSM/hspa/lte auto mode). U should see this network mode option if not use dialer *#2263# and then select any non lte option u want. If ur rooted then u have options! But simple network mode change is by far easiest. Settings/more settings(under data usage) mobile networks and network mode.

I would love to find these mods (preferably in a flashable zip) either in a ROM or that I can do myself.
1. Force roam (roam control doesnt even work)
2. 1X/3G mod (I know the ultralight ROM has this but it appears to be the only one right now that lists it)
3. Deactivate security admistrator permissions for exchange email account
Coming from an EVO LTE and previous HTC devices, I miss these mods dearly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

By default Sprint has configured the signal notification to display "3G" even if you are in 1X RTT mode. Developers create a modification to add back the 1X symbol in the notification bar that will show when you are connected to true 3G EVDO or 1X.

awww. i noticed that. i thought it was a bug because i'm running the sprint os on my uscc note 2. thought the way i fixed it killed that. now i know! i'd contact the dev who has that feature in his rom and ask how he did it. i would very much like to know!
So I looked into the 1X/3G mod and I figured it out. I packaged it up and it's flashable. Works on any LK8 ROM.

What I have noticed with the Sprint ROMs on my phone is the 1X/3G handoff isn't really working so much. If 1X is available and there's no 3G is shows. If you go from 3G service to poor 3G it won't handoff to 1X like it normally should. Not sure if that's a bug between the OS and my radio or just the OS since I'm again running this on my US Cellular Note 2. But in the end if does show 1X with that mod. Just need a fix for the 1X/3G handoff.
I fixed up mine a while back and see it on 1x at various times. I assume your fix was just flipping the min3G boolean in the system ui apk.

Here you go, although the video title doesn't say sprint it is for force roaming to Verizon network on Sprint Gn2 + gs3
Is there any way to shut off those extremely annoying emergency alerts? I've gotten two rather annoying and pointless severe weather emergency alerts one at 3am & the other at 5am. And before you say I didn't look through the settings or search there is no cell broadcast setting or any way to disable them in messaging on 4.2.2. Any help is appreciated.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I'm going to make an assumption and guess you're using sprint? If so it has nothing to do with 4.2.2 and everything to do with your carrier. Everyone I know that uses sprint has complained of recently receiving emergency notifications out of nowhere. So I can't help you, but if you're with sprint I'd complain directly to them.

Default aosp won't build the settings menu on properly for the emergency alerts. You have to edit a make file or something somewhere . Are you compiling it yourself? I can look at my setup later and let you know what the actual edit is if you are.

I thought I always checked that when building from AOSP...guess I forgot . If you want, you can probably dirty flash this rom. It's based off of the google image, so everything should work correctly.
Are you sure it isn't Google Now?
It's actually under the stock messaging app. Open messaging app and hit the 3 dots (settings) and choose Cell broadcasts. Then hit the 3 dots again and uncheck the alerts from there.

Sorry, I must have misread that last part in the op. That's odd. I thought all stock messaging apps had that option. Hope you get it figured out soon.
I'm assuming you're from Pittsburgh too and got all those flash flood warnings? At some point stock gave me the choice to turn it off but I don't know about your settings.
Well, I brought myself to removing my CM10.2 and trying the MIUI ROM. It was a very slick, very smooth ROM. I overall enjoyed it. But with it being a ROM of course it had a few minor bugs. And I did have a few dislikes. So I'm gonna list a few things I personally noticed about it. Fell free to post your thoughts and any resolutions to anything I'm gonna lay out.
PROS:
-a smooth, soft feeling touch that was full of color and a very nice setup. The was miui was set up in settings for example was on of a kind. I was not disappointed. The theme app that was there gave me full control of changing the status bar, lock screen, home screen, etc. You have full control of customization. WiFi also seemed to work just fine.
CONS:
- Sadly, my LTE didn't appear to work. I tried adjusting my setting to fix it. No avail and that kinda was frustrating. But with WiFi working it didn't pose to much of a issue. I also experienced to apps for my gallery, and I was unable to delete it because it was a system app. Some of the themes I downloaded froze my phone, causing me to remove my battery and restart my phone. I wasn't bothered by it to much, I'm rather used to having to do that with previous phone.
Over all if you like a fresh and fast ROM you will love MIUI. But with these few issues I went back to cm. As I need my LTE cause my phone is also a work phone and I need the fastest internet I can get. So feel free to post your thoughts on MIUI and any fixes. Because I would like to switch back and continue using MIUI.

LTE works you just have to select it in settings when you first flash the rom because it doesn't default on. Reason there are 2 galleries is because MIUI has its own gallery and since we have to use 4.2 camera it comes with its only gallery also hide one in a folder if you dont like one. And theme issue I've never experienced this

I love the visual development compared to all other ROM.
Looks great.. but I'm still in love with AOSP.
Right out of the box, I think MIUI looks a lot like ios . Maybe too much.
It is a great ROM though, and very user-friendly.
Could I see a screen shot of the phone? Keypad, in call. These are things people over look, but this is our phone is it not? For most if not everyone on here, the only phone they use.
