[Q] Car Bluetooth Connectivity Problem - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Greetings,
I am having problem with my phone dropping BT connection every few minutes. My car (2005 Audi A6) detects, pairs, and connects to the car, but every few minutes the Bluetooth connection disconnects from my car. The connection is lost for about 30 seconds, then the connection is reestablished. I also get a brief muffled audio distortion from the car stereo (Audi stock stereo w/MMI interface). The problem repeats itself every few minutes. Phone is OK when using a Bluetooth headset. The problem started a few days ago. The only change was when the phone was updated to Jelly Bean via Kies on 13Nov2012. I did not have this problem when my GS3 was running Ice Cream Sandwich. Any help/constructive input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

You can try a different kernel.

Problem revision:
Here is my most recent issue -
The car's interface pairs and connects with no problem. The car's phone mode freezes when I try to call using the car's interface. The phone's bluetooth freezes as well. The only way to break the connection to the car is to shut off both the car and the phone. Once again, I didn't have any issues when the phone was using ICS. The problem I mention initially seems to have been addressed when I restarted the phone. Any constructive thoughts, ideas, or feedback?
@J-Rock
How do I go about changing the kernel? Do you mean using a custom ROM???
thanks for the feedback so far.

Most roms come with a custom kernel. Blinky ghost has been doing them for Cyanogen for a while. But, there are others trinity, morphic, ktoonsez, etc
They can be loaded by themselves under the right circumstances.
Like radios/modems

Give kT kernel a try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946. Or Trinity http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777472. And of course this is if your phone is rooted.

I currently have the stock Jelly Bean (JB) version installed. Is there a way to use alternative Kernels with the stock version of JB?

JBfrost came with stock kernnel. I'm sure, the JB stock in the wildchild thread may also be a stock kernel too.
If you want to flash different kernel, go to the thread with those kernel and flash if via recovery mod.
Good luck to you.

Greetings all,
Since my initial problem with my BT Connection issue to my car. I installed an update DVD, and reset my MMI interface for my Audi. That seemed to have done the trick. Later, I rooted my phone, but I don't think that had an effect in resolving my problem. i suspect the issue was with my car. Thank you all for your input and suggestions.

Depends on the BT device and which ROM you are running. I have had no issues with my Jabra on GB08.

Right now I'm running Slim Bean. But any of the custom ROMs based off of GB08 will be the same as the original GB08 leak.

The things is my headset works fine on ics roms but once I hit jb it always seems to crash so I have tried from the jb roms due to that since I really use my headset alot for work.
I have the same issue with my Tone+ headset. Works great on ICS but I am lucky to get them to work for a couple minutes before lockup and the entire phone crashes on JB. I just tried the official release GB27 and the problem is still there.
Ah so the problem is still present in the official. That kinda stinks

Haven't touched CM10.1 nightly ROMs for a while. But the LED Notification stopped working, stayed on an older version of CM10.1 nightly.
Gonna try that when I get home. Also PA made it to this device. Also the Jedi mind trick Roms. So many options. Wow head's spinning.
Leaning towards CM10.1 though.
No signal, can't play video
I was using CM10.0. Updated CM10.1 with corresponding gapp.
-Can't register on cellular network anymore. Can't set AWS frequency in the factory testing mode.
-All of my Video apps start legging, play videos for a little while and quit after about a minute, say video format not supported. Even though the video is mp4 format and it was playing it before quitting.
How should fix it? Flash kernel? Which kernel should I use?

Had some problem with radio but I just had to update to the latest version and everything else looks fine
I tried to resist flashing this ROM but had to give in to temptation. Said to myself no more flashing when I got into boot issues with JMTJB6. Odin flashed stock and left it unrooted! Was happy...but then temptation. Happy I did it, rock solid, butter smooth, doesn't seem to have any lag.

Thanks that did the trick. I was going mad at why the LED notifications stopped working.
Also still on the non-touch recovery, 5.0.26 the one that needs the Darkmod scripts to wipe cache and do full installs.
Also had to turn sensor on/off before it actually worked. Read that from another post from someone that helped me.
Thanks again dude.

I just had two random reboots, it might be related to bluetooth.
Scenario 1: Answered a phone call via steering wheel controls in the car. Phone reboots
Scenario 2: While connected left the car car. Phone reboots.

Are you using a custom kernel? And did you wait the 10 minutes after the flash?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
No custom kernel. Flashed it days ago...reboot occurred today...Yes I did wait the 10 minutes after initial flash.
Is this a known problem? Would a custom kernel like uber kernel be more stable? I really like this ROM so far as is.

Confused

First off I'm a noob, was able to flash miui 4.1.2 with twrp but every time I flash another rom 4.2 and higher the rom works but the battery stops charging about 5sec after I put it to charge, used different cables but no dice. Only one 4.1.2 rom has recently worked and I'm still using it. I'm confused as to what could be the issue, can anyone shed some light please any help would be grateful. Thanks in advance

It may just be that the icon isn't switching to charging, even though the device technically is? I don't feel like this is likely, but it may be worth investigating. I've also heard that TWRP versions before 2.6.1 have issues with 4.2 (or was it 4.3?)
Have you tried waiting for 10 minutes after your first boot, without touching anything, and then rebooting? I don't know if you're flashing a kernel or not, but if so that could help.
It says battery disconnected , sorry for not being specific. Thanks for taking the time to help me and the advice on the time period helped with 2 other roms

What version of twrp are you using? What are your steps when you flash?
2.6.1.0 followed each instruction to the letter. Now the roms worked its the battery disconnected warning that has me confused.
Thanks for acknowledging my question.

Actually Beanstalk has another huge flaw IMO. It will not reliably connect to most car's bluetooth. When it does, it typically drops out within 5 minutes. I'm running CyanFox 4.4 and the bluetooth works fairly good, not perfect but good.

Beanstalk is awesome if you don't need the car bluetooth. I actually put it back on and used it for two more days before I decided that I really needed it to connect to my vehicle. CyanFox is better, not perfect. I doesn't connect automatically, so I have to actually connect it every time I get in the car. It also has disconnected on me several times in two days although it does reconnect automatically. All the features work, I'm able to make and receive calls, scroll through my contacts on my car's nav screen and stream my music to my vehicle. Hopefully a fix will be coming for all the 4.4 roms and bluetooth because it seems to be a problem.

Wifi chip going out?

I am on S3Rx 3.0 and have never had problems. Today, I noticed my WiFi keeps connecting and disconnecting randomly. All the other devices in the house are fine. Could this signal a problem with my chip? Any insight is appreciated.

I'm curious about this as well. This week, my wifi dropped out seemingly permanently. When I try to enable Wifi, it just sits. When I go back to settings it's always off. Rebooting doesn't help. I tried safe mode, I tried reflashing. I'll probably try a new ROM today just to see if a fresh start helps, but I was wondering if people were experiencing hardware issues with the chip. It looks like my bluetooth still works, though.

Which kernel are you using and are you using any xposed modules? It would be a really good idea to post this exact statement in the S3Rx thread, you will likely get more help.

I'm using stock kernel. Xposed modules are: all notifications expanded, boot manager, bump unlimiter, disable full battery alert, disable critical battery shutdown, greenify. Only reason I didn't post in the thread is because I don't feel its ROM related. I've been running the ROM with no problems for close to a month and this started yesterday without me making any changes.
