[Q] File name showing up wrong. help! - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hi,
I think this has been going on for a while, i just didn't notice
when i go into my files app, normally i would se sdcard and extsdcard file
instead of sdcard, i would see something like "sdcard0" or "sdcardo"
is this normal?
if not, is there any way to fix it?
thanks in advance

Its fine.
Actual locations are /storage/extsdcard
And for internal /data/media
They are symlinked to many other spots.

External save path, autosave-mms

I can not seem to get the autosave-mms app path set correctly. Its a little different than im used to with sdcard and extsdcard and sdcard0 and clicking on extsdcard list /storage/extsdcard.
i can not seem to get the path set correctly in autosave-mms app itself. always seems to create folders on the internal sd.
anyone help with that
?
Anyone?

I accidentally deleted a folder!

Oops.
I hope someone can help me get this back. I just deleted a folder on the internal storage space, sdcard0, instead of deleting a file in a zip. Bug in AndroZip I'd say. Is there a way to get this back or to access sdcard0 from Windows so I can recover the files?

Sounds like you just deleted the mount point. The files should be there after a reboot afaik
Unfortunately not. It deleted the Downloads folder! Bummer. Don't think there was too much in there but can't really remember. I'm guessing there's nothing I can do
I just tried a program that is supposed to eb able to recover deleted files on the internal EXT4 partition and it found nothing. Oh well, nevermind.
I remember seeing an app that will recover deleted items but only if you're rooted

[Q] Nandroid Backup location

Hey guys I can't seem to physically locate my nandroid backups. I know its usually located in some folder /clockworkmod/backup/DATESTAMP but ever since the 4.2 update with the multi user thing it seems to be missing. I am already using the latest version of CWM.
I've used root explorer and i've looked in all of:
/storage/emulated/0
/storage/emulated/legacy
/storage/sdcard0
Essentially all the Nandroids i've done have taken up all of the space within my phone and I can't seem to do anything anymore :/
Look in a folder called SDcard... Mine stored there for some reason

You could also try /data/media

[Q] Emulated Storage Problem

Well ever since I went on to 4.2 my internal drive has emulated and legacy and like 3 versions of my SD card. If I download a file that's a 100 megabytes, my phone triples it and I lose 300 megabytes, my storage folder looks like this,
storage>emulated, sdcard0, sdcard1, usbdisk0
Then in emulated...
emulated>0, legacy
Inside "0" and "legacy" are exact copies of my SD card (sdcard0)
Does anyone know how to remedy this, its ridiculously annoying, thanks in advance...

You could always format data and re-flash your rom. I believe this happened because your recovery was not up to date. Since i have updated to TWRP 2.4.1.0, I do not have this issue. I have read that you can copy the files to where they should be and delete the folders. I would search in this forum for emulated storage and see what comes up.
Ah arite I'll try that, but as for the formating data, I do that every time I flash a ROM (mounts&storage>format data), do you mean formating SD card? But yeah def gonna update my recov. Thanks dudette

Are you sure you lose 3 times the file size in storage space? I don't have a 4.2 ROM, but it looks to me that your files aren't duplicated in multiple folders. Instead, "0" and "legacy" are more than probably just links/shortcuts to the same storage space in your SD card.
Lol yes I'm positive, its ridiculous, and if I delete something on one of the folders, its deleted on all of them, ugh...

Same thing happened on my SGS2 running the newest AOKP. The fix is that you have to format the internal sdcard. There were many users that had multiple "0" folders. I only had one but did notice that I lost some files or thought I did. They were in one of the legacy folders though. They were all my old nandroid backups. So back up anything you need from your internal sdcard to somewhere else and reformat it. Then add them back in. It is a different format on how/where files are stored.

Is just for multiple users. Just Merge them together and update to latest recovery and it won't happen again.

Go to data media folder beside a single 0 folder delete or move everything to data/media to data/media/ 0. Problem solved. If got more then one 0 folder such as data/media/0/0 you will have move everything from the 2nd 0 folder to the first. To repeat data/media should only contain a single folder named 0. Everything should be inside data/media/0 that's your internal sd card. If after you move delete everything in data's media folder a few folders pop back no problem but no files. Look for hidden files. Also update to latest recovery. Data/media old sd. Data/media/0 New sd..
Data/media/0 /0 is old recovery issue A's bad. It won't go away on its own but will stop multiplying once update recovery check my Sig my twrp listed goes drop box with all latest recoverys.
Clean data/media out but check before delete **** if you need anything just move to data media/0 and don't delete the first 0 folder
K buddy good luck search for more info

Make it easy use a Windows android file manager like android commander. I think it's in my Sig I'm on phone can't check but pm me I help you tomorrow cuz this.it's not complicated

[Q] Storage/SDCard0

Hi guys, tried looking for an answer on XDA, can't find one.
Anyways, my question is:
I have just installed a new ROM and while looking through root browser i found Storage/SDCard0, this location is a duplicate of my SDCard and if i was to delete items from sdcard0 it disappears from my main SDCard.
Has this file always been there or has something gone wrong?
I know it seems like a minor issue, but its bugging me lol
Thanks
The new aosp android versions are changing the sdcard folder layout to sdcard/0 thats normal. leave it like that unless you want to revert to a sense based rom or a nandroid backup. when you want to restore it you have to copy all content from the 0 dir to the root of the sdcard.
hope i explained this okey !

Sorry i forgot to mention that i have not been on an aosp rom, i have always been on sense!
Thats why im so puzzled lol
Also, i have tried copying stuff over, but it just makes a duplicate in the sdcard e.g pictures - copy of
and when i delete from the folder location storage/sdcard0 it deletes from my main sdcard also, so in a nutshell, i have never been on aosp roms yet i have this sdcard0 issue
ah like that, well i can inform you that i had this on the viper x 3.3.7 rom too....i solved it like this :
i made a nandroid backup, back-upped the sdcard content, formatted the sdcard. copied the nandroid backup back to the sdcard and restored it .... not seen the problem anymore !
I think it is normal... Having storage/sdcard0 is totally different compared to /sdcard/0/
When I connect my sdcard to pc and examine, the size matches, it is not doubled and when /storage/sdcard0 os deleted also normal sdcard gets deleted.
So I think it's just a mirror of some sort.

Thanks for your replies guys.
I think it is just a mirror of the main sdcard, what caused it i don't know!
I shall try and live with it for the time being.... Until it annoys me furthermore lol
Cheers!
One more thing we need to know... Simple yes or no will do.
Do you have a directory called /sdcard/0?
Do you have a directory called /storage/sdcard0?

The directory is storage/sdcard0, it also seems like my system is using this as the "main" storage and duplicating to sdcard.
Nothing I do seems to be resolving the issue....
EDIT: Really stuck now, tried superwipe script, adb shell etc and its still there, its not really a big problem, but if im transfering data to my phone its transfering to storage/sdcard0 by default and not sdcard.
The file location is in with the core android files and even if i try and delete the file it still remains there,,,, HELP!!

Issue resolved, i downloaded a nandroid from 2.17 flashed and booted, checked and storage/sdcard0 had disapeared.
Flash beck to 3.18 rom and it is still gone!!
Thanks for the help guys :good:
Good !
CASE CLOSED !
The /storage/sdcard0 issue has arrisen!
I'm not sure if this is a Jelly Bean "thing" though as if i do a nandroid back to 2.17 storage/sdcard0 is not there....
Yet, when i flash a custom rom it re-appears, would somebody be able to check id the folder is in their HOX also please?
I locate it using root browser, not sure if it shows with other file mangers, but i will check
Thanks
Mine is just normal......look no sdcard0 folder
Sorry, the location of the /storage/sdcard0 folder is located out of the sdcard folder, its within the sys, system, root, etc folders
i have also noticed that sdcard0 i have no rights over e.g. permisions are - - - r w x r - x
I'm really puzzled lol
Wish i could take a screenshot, but i disabled the option when installing my current rom
I switched to CM file manager from root explorer recently and the /sdcard/ folder is nowhere to be seen. There's only /storage/sdcard0/ which is also the default startup directory.
So it could be root explorer that mirrors the sdcard...
Sent from my One X using xda premium
I now it falls into place here.......hadn't much sleep last night
Its probably a mirror like TT says .... maybe to speed things up for the system to acces files ?
I have two screenshots here, first one is from root explorer, as you can see, i have no rights over the storage/sdcard0 folder (but i think thats due to the fact i have full rights over the "main" sdcard.
The second shot is taken from within ES file explorer options as an example to where my files are going....
I do think that you are correct in saying that its just a mirror, especially after seeing TT's screenshot. I was just a bit worried that something had gone wrong somewhere with me having the scdard0 folder.
Again, thanks alot guys!! :good:
Hey there I noticed the same thing for CM10.1, and the folders can be seen in CM File Manager by enabling "Show symlinks".
So yes it is some sort of a mirror, but more like a method to redirect apps to the actual sdcard folder since not all of them are updated to reach for sdcard0 (or something like that). You may check here for more information on symlinks.
Cheers!
There are symlinks to the sdcard everywhere and they are normal.
Here are some examples
/sdcard
/storage/sdcard
/storage/emulated/0
/storage/emulated/legacy
/mnt/sdcard
/mnt/shell/emulated
These are all directories that link to the sdcard on the ROM i use.
This is nothing to worry about as the actual data is not duplicated.
Think of them as shortcuts to the sdcard folder which is actually stored somewhere like /dev/block/mmc0blk0p12

Thanks for the info guys, muchly appreciated.
My question now is:
On stock 2.17 there is no storage/sdcard0, yet on stock 3.18 there is... Do we know the reasoning behind this?
Does it give better fetching time for apps, is it something to do with 'project butter'?
Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Its because of enabling USB host mode (otg) in jellybean and the connection of other devices requiring identification. If you attach a USB hub, a hard drive and a flash drive you will end up with new entries in storage as well as sdcard0
Such as
/storage/usbdisk0
/storage/usbdisk1
Some cheaper devices that have both onboard storage and a microsd will enter as /storage/sdcard0 and /sdcard1
The 0 is just the first address in Linux
The entire 32gb nand on the one x is /dev/block/mmcblk0
It's just numbering so there is the possibility for new storage to be allocated
