Overkill. Kinda like using a jackhammer to punch a hole in a piece of paper.
The kernel is located in the boot image, so all he had to do was download the stock image from Google's site here, extract the boot image, and flash it.
Instruction : download and flash, no wipe needed.[compatible for all rom]

Will test this, thanks.
EDIT: would not install on BAMF Parydigm.
RE-EDIT: Works fine, had to go into System/app and rename Gallery2.apk

there are lots of threads with the new stuff from 4.2. what makes this one different from the other 4.2 camera? if there is u should state it in the first post.
it says "latest" but all are latest.with the amount of same 3ad for this 4.2 fever,it's a must look for the same 3ad before open a new one..

I dont think Rooting alone is going to stop your OTA, but changing the ROM is certainly gonna stop you from receiving OTA Updates.
No custom ROM ROM looks stock and I unrooted it says no update and I'm on 4.2

Just wait, update will appear after a short time, reboot some times for accelerate the process

Just flash the latest version with Gnex tool if you are going to use the same rom don't need to do a factory reset

4.2 has a multiuser function that places all your stuff into the infamous 0 folder. If you delete the folder it will reappear again but inside another 0 folder and so on.
Flash the latest recovery either clockwork or twrp and it automatically fix it.
