Anyone else think the new camera seems to have worse picture quality than the 4.1 camera?
Or will the quality get better whenever I get the actual 4.2 update?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I think, the quality is the same. Just more options and a new UI
Does your camera let you do panoramic mode? When I try it force closes.
Yeah it let's me do it. Thanks for the reply.

single picture quality is the same IMO.
however, panorama is much improved and the new photosphere is great.

I actually felt the same way but I was using a early released version of the camera app once I flashed a updated version that was released by Google it fixed it

Know where I can find the latest?

bad lighting == bad picture
I have the same problem all the time with stock camera app, it seems to me that the light correction algorithm is a little "slow"
I don't think quality will differ

I was hunting around for a camera that would work, when i found an app called camera ics +
No greenscreen to report anywhere, no blurriness, it just, works!
Could be useful for devs too? We could finally have a perfect cyanogenmod rom!

Can you pleases share me the camera.apk file please.
Heres the google play link mate, just come across one problem, iff you try and delete pictures and video through the app it force closes, but its not exactly a massive problem

Other than the green screen and no auto/manual focus during video, I don't find anything wrong with the stock CM 10/10.1 camera. There's no blurriness if the lighting is bright or flash is used.

I just found it quite slow, and maybe the blurriness was just cos of the lack of auto focus Didnt realise that, but yea i wasnt that keen on it.

I'm getting best results with snap camera on codefire x after a lot of experementing. Camera ICS+ hasn't seen much development lately like camera jb+.
But to be honest, imho there is no better camera like any sense stock before latest officially suppported by htc, especially panorama mode.

I've reverted back to AOSPX after playing around with the Jellybean Roms, so its not an issue anymore I forgot how good it is! Flawless!

SNAP CAMERA Awesome, thank you man :laugh:
Recently I have noticed the rear facing camera doesn't focus. I am not sure if it is hardware or software related. I have had the phone for a while and the camera has always been great. Not sure what happened to the rear facing camera though. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a similar issue, mine focuses, but the flash sometimes doesn't go off. When auto focusing the flash will light up the scene then when I release the soft button to take the pic, the flash doesn't fire. I'm on CM10.1 (latest nightly), but issue has been evident for a few months I'd say.

You try enabling HDR in the camera options?
How do I enable HDR? I am currently on the stock ROM.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I think its a 4.2.2 only feature and your ROM must have it built in and your gapps must not overwrite it with its own camera app.
I think

My phone is rooted and am using CM 7.2. I wanted to know why is the camera quality so poor? It was great before I rooted but now it's just awful.
Is there any way I can improve it?

AOSP roms aren't known for their camera quality. You could either install a stock rooted rom, or get used to lower camera quality.
Or use any alternatives from the play store. ICS camera, camerazoom fx, etc do a good job. Also remember someone posting the miui camera few days back. Look for it. It worked fine too.

Should work on all 4.0+ aosp ROMs. Just delete/rename gallary2.apk in system/apps then install the apk like normal
I'm posting this because I'm running it right now with zero issues on thddudes beanstalk rom
This isn't actually a leak is it. Its just the camera from the Google edition s4 isn't it?

imho i think that this is very similar to the 4.2.2 camera and dont notice any difference from the s4 or htc one camera
im not sure but im sticking with my normal camera
this seems kinda buggy

But when it uses 25% of your battery overnight there should be something wrong. I tried it myself. Photosphere is not worth the no deep sleep new feature, lol.

I tried this running CM 10.1 and it seemed a little laggy for a while. Also, the quick settings did not match up. i.e. I would try and select one scene mode and it would actually pick another. If it was more stable I would use it. I prefer this new quick settings menu over the radial menu
Works well on stock Rom too. I also have problems with settings not matching up.

Meh... It's ok. I still prefer the MIUI camera, even if I don't have front camera support with it. IMHO, it's better than CameraZoom as well.

I am on AOKP and this only half works. It does do photosphere, but it only does 1 picture then it is fuzzy thereafter and the video is horrible and not usable. Does anyone have a .zip to flash back to stock camera and gallery? blah. i did a backup before but it was a a couple weeks ago and I am just not getting around to trying the camera.

Your best luck is to flash the ROM again without resetting data (no wipe)

This works great. It's how I restored my camera
meh
4.3 camera works fine on LG Optimus G F180k. I now have two Camera apps and two Galleries. The only flaw I encountered so far is the picture size. It only goes 8MP maxed and my camera supports 13MP so I only use it for PhotoSphere. The PhotoSphere works well, so far, haven't tried it outdoors yet. The new gallery app is a step up from the stock I had.
I froze the stock gallery and use the gallery app that came with the 4.3 camera. I didn't freeze or uninstalled the stock camera. I'll probably use'em both.
My theory here, maybe this works well with my phone because it first came out on Nexus 4, which is also a LG device and Optimus G and Nexus 4 almost have the same hardware with just a lil' variations like the camera. (N4 with 8mp while LGOG with 13mp, some models have 8mp too just like the N4)
and another thing, the 4.3 camera creates another directory inside DCIM folder. So the two cameras have two different folders inside DCIM.

Would you mind sharing the miui camera that you are using. I've tried pulling the apk files from miui ROMs but I always get a FC. It would make my miui v5 that much more complete.

Thanks. Have you ever gotten the video camera to shoot in full 720p? Not something I use much of, just wondering.
What I'm really wanting to get my hands on now after seeing some previews, is the new focal camera from CM.

The camera on the 5X doesn't have that close of a macro focus. I've tried at least 3 manual camera apps and none of them focus any better or close than stock.
