Can't flash roms...Help please! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Alright so I own a Sprint SGS3 and I finally decided to root my device. I have done this with my previous phones but i will say I'm pretty rusty. Anyways I couldn't get odin to work on my netbook because the screen was to small and I was unable to hit the start button to root the phone and flash clockwork mod. So I do some searching and end up using team wins method for my macbook which was a script you could do from the terminal on the computer. So I rooted my phone and put the team win recovery on it and I didn't like it. So I got rom manager and flashed clockwork mod to it. Now I can't get into recovery mode for some reason to flash any roms. When I try it just shows samsung in the middle of the screen and there is some writing in blue in the top left corner which I was unable to make out. The only way to reboot my phone from that point was to go into download mode and press the volume down key to reboot phone from there. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Install recovery using Odin.

GSM or LTE Gnex? What ROM were you running?
Golden rule: Do a backup before doing anything to your phone!
Now all you can do is to download EXACTLY same ROM as you were using by now, wipe cache/dalvik-cache, flash this ROM once again and hope that i'll boot. If it won't you'll have to wipe /data is well.

ouch... softbrick.
put your phone down.
take a deep breath or two.
If you are old enough, grab a beer and relax for a bit. Think calming thoughts.
Now, start learning about how to mod your GNex. We can help.
Here's your First assignment:
find out if you still have a bootloader by booting into fastboot mode. Report back with your findings and a screenshot!

Still have a bootloader? Are you serious? You need to learn how to use an android device as well.
To the OP: Do a factory reset in Clockwork and go to mounts
and format /system. Flash the ROM zip. Profit.
Absolutely serious. Have you been reading this thread? The OP needs to start at ground zero and stop just trying every tool he/she sees. My purpose was to get this person to do some research and I was establishing a knowledge baseline. One plan I was considering was to help the OP install the GNex toolkit then locate stock images and obtain a working build. Your cryptic one liner bit should prove vastly more useful to this guy though. I'll let you have at it and go back to my dev work. lol at least this post was a good way to make sure gapps/root capabilities are properly cooked into my latest test build ....

U r right i am not good in android but i tried to be and this happens, meanwhile nothing shows after i start the device it shows the !!!! mark with device the PC logo, this happens due to ODin actually the SUMSUNG ADB interface shows ! mark because i cant debug from device even no bootloader works any more thnkz for replying
*facepalm*
OP, you are holding it wrong.
I can think of at least 2 ways to recover from a situation like this. Both are well described in these forums (search works 99% of the time).
....
Oh come on, you don't have the zip of the last rom you flashed, get another one, hey, its free right? **** we dont know nothing about but we'll flash it anyways!
Man...If you have cwm recovery, you're safe. No need to go messing with fastboot (forget odin) just yet. Now stop wasting everybody's time and learn to help yourself.
Here's a few tags to get you started:
cwm, recovery, adb, bootloader, fastboot

i tried more than one day on this issue its only starts with !!! mark on it nothing else, i have attached the pic i cant access any bootloader or any cwm or any thing all i did with Odin and stuck to attached pic even i start the device its shows the same pic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdM2M8Nz6QQ this I used on Odin
thnkzz
As I suspected earlier, it appears that the OP may have trashed his bootloader partition when he tried using Odin to flash the 4.0.2 factory image (which includes a bootloader). At one point he had CWM but not any more since he can't boot to the recovery partition.
Another possibility is that the Odin tool itself places the device in this mode and it can't be manually reverted by starting up in fastboot mode. Looking at the picture, it literally appears that the phone is saying that a flashing operation is half finished but the phone has lost the PC connection... This would be a lot like what I've experienced with iPhones.
In either case, I can deduce that Odin is the tool to use to clear this softbrick.
Hopefully, it'll be flame-off now Sdobron. Perhaps you might want to help out here since I'm not up to speed on the Odin tool myself and would like to learn more about it.
@salym: I know this may be redundant but I need to establish your problem baseline empirically. Once again, can you verify that when you hold vol down/vol up then press power that you get the image you posted?
Use Fastboot!
Dude, it looks like your problem is with crappy boot sector.
While turning on your phone, hold both volume up and volume down buttons, and long press power button untill you feel single vibrate feedback.
Then connect your phone to the computer via USB, and if it doesn't detect drivers, google "samsung android usb driver". Additionally you can install PDANet application (X64 or x86 depending on you system).
THen download Fastboot - there are plenty of instructions how to flash it, and flash stock images (that come with radio, boot sector, rom itself, etc) - there are also plenty of discussions about how to do it. PM if you have any other questions!

Please help, phone wont fully turn on, there is a yellow triangle on splash screen.

I just acquired this ET4G from someone, they did some type of factory reset before they gave me the phone. The phone worked fine before this happened, I saw it with my own eyes but I did not see what reset setting they chose.
Tried turning it on and it gets to the spalsh screen and shows a yellow triangle, then it goes to a small flickering android splash screen and I hear some music, then it just goes blank and nothing happens.
Boot into recovery and low and behold it has CWM 4.something on it but
have no idea what ROM was previous on it.
I have an Evo that I am extremely used to flashing as well as a Galaxy Tab. I have Kies installed and just downloaded Odin for this phone. But now I am not sure what I should do since I don't know what was on this phone previously. For now I just want to get to the latest stock GB rom/kernal/modem either rooted or back to unrooted. I assume the phone has been rooted but I am not sure, I saw a screen that showed some type of count as 1.
I have no SD card in there now and don't want to put one in there yet, so can I install via Odin for now until I get the phone working and then I will install an SD card? So I need to install the stock rom/kernal via Odin but I am not sure how to do it. I remember installing CWM on my GT via Odin but then I put the ROM on the device and then flashed.
Thanks and sorry for asking for help, I have not had a chance to read all the posts and research this phone yet as I did not expect to have to do this so fast, so I have a lot of reading to do but I would like to get the phone working as fast as possible.
Thanks

I cannot thank you enough as this seems to have worked!!!! The phone boots up now and I am extremely relieved. I did not see that thread from the short amount of searching I have done, so thank you again.
Curious, did this method change my recovery or will the same CWM 4.xxxx that was on there previously still be there? Do I want this recovery or a different one? Like the one I see refernced as Rogue?
Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!
You will not have cwm. You now need to use sfhubs autoroot tool to add cwm+rogue el29. Look in the same thread for the link. And for peetsake don't use ROM Manager

Thanks, I have never even used ROM manager. I have been installing custom roms on my OG EVO for a while and only used AmonRa recovery. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and rooted it using Odin and then flashed custom roms on there using CWM.
For some reason all the threads/info/instructions for the Epic Touch are very confusing to me, there seems to be too much info and I cannot process it right now.
I think I am going to leave the phone as it is for now after fixing it using the link provided in this thread having the EL29 rooted rom on it. I have to activate the phone on my account next, so going to do that before installing CWM. If there is an OTA update after I activate the phone should I choose to DL it? I would probably lose root and then have to use sfhubs autoroot that is appropriate for the OTA update that I get, correct? This is even assuming there is an OTA update after EL29, I don't know if there is.
Thanks
After your activated you're good to go. EL29 is the current official version. We're expecting an update to ICS sometime in June.
Sent from my Epic 4G Touch
Just so you know, if you accept an OTA update you will lose root. Then you'll have to wait for the great devs here to crack the code for root access.
Since you just got the device spend some time going over the stickes in the sub-forums and read all the way through a lot of posts. You'll gain a tremendous amount of insight and knowledge.
But...., there are many great leaked ICS ROMs here. Patience, knowledge and prudence are required before you jump into that or you will surely paperweight your phone so take you time and enjoy.

Galaxy note 2 WONT BOOT!!!

Really need some assistance here if someone could please help. I downloaded chainfire 3d, because i read it would speed up my game lag/speed. After install, it asked for a reboot....my phone hasnt been able to boot now, it has been stuck on the logo screen. I can get into recovery mode, i did a reset and formatted everything (which i REALLY didnt want to do), but i need my phone on asap. After all that, nothing has worked after reboot. Still stuck on logo screen, someone please give me any ideas to get this back on its really upsetting Thanks a lot, really hope someone has some ideas.

If you can still get into Download Mode you can always flash the stock rom back using the Odin tool on your PC. Use the procedure below to get into download mode:
Entering download mode is very simple. First you will need to turn off your device. Once it’s off, you need to press this button combination: volume down, power button and home button. Keep them pressed until the download mode shows up. Once you’re there, you will be requires to press volume up to enter the download mode or volume down to cancel and reboot the device.
Then follow these instructions:
If u have a custom recovery there's always this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
And sadly yes cf3d does not work on any device with touchwiz jellybean
What I did in that situation is first download a stock deodexed rom.
Then connect your phone with your pc and open the Odin program on your computer.
(may or may not have to install Kies)
Then flash the deodexed rom to your phone.

[Q] boot loop after using mobile odin...please tell me not hard brick

Hey everyone, first time posting, but followed this forum for a while now.
Ok, so I had been running CM10 on my ICS S3 for a while, but wanted to start fresh and upgrade to JB, and see how I liked it. I followed this link:
androidrootz.c o m/2012/10/how-to-unroot-samsung-galaxy-s3-no.html
to flash my stock ROM back to the phone. (Hope linking is permitted, if not I apologize). I am on Mac and therefore used Mobile Odin Pro to help me achieve a fresh S3. I started at step 4, bc I didn't care to reset my flash counter. Everything was going smoothly until I hit step 15. It's here that the phone will flash the Samsung boot screen momentarily, then show the "blue droid" running script for less than a second, and repeat over and over again.
I've attempted to put it in recovery/download(is there a difference between the two) mode, but the phone repeatedly does what was just described. What options do I have to get this phone back in working order?
Please help me, King Newb, if there is actually any help that can be given. I really don't like using my old iPhone as my primary again. I just want my S3 back, preferably running JB and rooted. Please and thanks guys.
Out.

Actually, you can't post links cause you're a new user.
Here's what you should follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822308
To get in download mode: Hold Vol down+Home + Power button
To get in recovery mode: Hold Vol up+Home + Power button
Instead of getting CWM, I would suggest getting TWRP, which can be done by downloading goomanager from the play store. (After you're done flashing stock rooted JB from the link above).
I am on Mac, is there an alternative to Odin, or a version that runs on OS X?
Thank you for putting me on the right track

Mobile Odin or Heimdall.
OK, I need a little more clarification. My phone doesn't boot, so are you saying that I can use Mobile Odin right on my Mac, and is it possible to link me to a proper copy of Heimdall? Also, is there perhaps a step by step instruction set for getting me back to a functioning phone? I clicked your link and found a ton of information, but still unsure which set of steps I need to follow.
Thanks again for your patience.

Oh my bad, I replied fast (covering a lot of threads right now). Mobile Odin won't work.. And I haven't seen Heimdall around here. Sorry.
The easiest way would be to use a PC. I'll keep looking for what can be done on Macs (you should do the same )
I followed the steps to the link (used virtual machine) but when I get to the step where you press start, Odin just says "all threads completed. (succeeded 0/failed 0). So I think I'm getting close but not quite there yet.
Would it have something to do with the boot loader option? Just curious because of the boot loop I've been stuck in. Btw, I can't get my phone into recovery mode, however download mode still works fine, if that matters.
Another quick update. I've now been able to get into the phone by holding both volume buttons and the power button. Phone boots normally with cm boot logo. However the phone is completely wiped except for stock apps it comes with. This gives me a little more hope but still not sure where to go from here.
Bump. Can't anyone point me in the right direction? My situation is quite unique, as I have found another person explain it happening to them during my search. Want to get this fixed ASAP.
Thanks!

Out.

I'm having the exact same problem. Is there a solution I need one so bad
I have the same problem as the OP.
I CAN NOT get it into recovery mode.
I CAN get it into download mode.
Is my only option to use ODIN on a windows PC? Does anyone have any clue of what software to download and from where?
Oli
Yeah, I would try that. I'm not to familiar with mobile Odin. I do know that after running certain roms, if you Odin to stock you need to do a factory reset from recovery after the Odin flash.
You're not going to be able to flash stock via odin if you can't get into download mode.
What OS did you come from? What did you do just before this all happened?
Try recovery mode again (vol up + home + power). Release only the power button when the phone vibrates and you see the blue script in the top left corner. Report back
He can get dl mode, not recovery

I stand corrected. I should wake up more before I hop on the boards. Cheers
Maybe you don't have cwm installed anymore since you wiped your phone. Try downloading rom manager and flashing cwm recovery then see if you can get into recovery mode.

Phone won't boot, can't use Rom manager to flash cwm. I stand by what I said. Flash to rooted stock, use goo manager (or Rom manager) to install custom recovery. Dl and flash Rom.
Mobile Odin works much like the desktop version. The Odin package usually has a recovery so CWM or TWRP will be replaced by stock recovery. Although mobile Odin does have the ability to exclude recovery from the flash. So you will have to get back into down load mode use the desktop version of Odin to stock then flash cfroot with Odin. Now you should be able to get into recovery as cfroot has CWM

[Q] Possible Bricked Tab 3 SMT10R

All, I did watch the guide and I did spend nigh-on 3 hours, no exaggeration, trying to find my solution.
But it looks like I've really messed up big time!!!!
Idiot that I am, I had everything running perfectly before, however I have become far to over confident and i think i have bricked my device!! I flashed this thinking it was rom that was stable (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2561064)
Unfortunately its left my device unable to turn off & will only will restart showing the Samsung logo. I installed previously a custom recovery & cannot access it. I also cannot access download mode.
When you stop laughing at me can you please advise my wisest course of action? Stupid thing is I can flash and mess around with my GNex until the cows come home, but this has me flummoxed and greatly worried.
I look forward to any reply's.

As previously said, cwm or odin are the only ways you can do to revert to stock because you flashed a test cm rom. Did you try to charge your tab maybe you have lowbattery. Or maybe one of your volume keys and home button are broken.

don't blame my rom lol. Hold volume down , home button and power at the same time for like 20 secs then it will be in download mode. I have soft bricked it over 50 times. same for recovery you have to hold , vol up , home , and power until tab reboots to tab 3 logo then keep holding it for like 3 secs then let go it will go into recovery.
Thanks for all the prompt comments, yep panic over I managed to get into download mode & re-flashed the standard rom.
