First off I know this is not a T-Mobile specific question, nor is it an international note 2 question or any specific carrier question. I have searched quickly for my answers to no avail. To all wanna be mods I understand you're purely devoted to organization and probably are having a fit about this post but try to keep unrelated posts to a minimum as you are clogging MY thread.
Now that that's out of the way...
I'm planning on buying a note 2 in the near future to use on a gsm prepaid carrier. I'd love to know the carrier specifics and which device would be the best to purchase in respects to development, price and features. Are all of the models the same? I've heard even the T-Mobile version has lte though its not used leading me to believe they all have similar hardware, but figured I should ask the xda experts before I take the plunge. Thanks a ton in advance!

Hi all, Iam about to upgrade my Desire S and have been looking at Galaxy S III. I have just had a chat to Trish at Tmobile UK and she offered a great deal on a new Samsung but when I asked if it would be LTE enabled out of the box or a software upgrade she said it wouldn't be enabled and couldn't give any date if it could be. So I will give it a few weeks and then ask again.
This is a dumb question. Lock and ban!

There's no such thing as dumb questions. If you're in the UK I'm pretty sure your phone already canes LTE enable unlike the our version. If it doesn't come with the latest update you can simply update it yourself

Nice thing to say in the Q&A section
If your phone is a international quad core then it will never have LTE because it does not have the hardware to support it.
The US dual core Snapdragon 4 phones have the hardware in them and should already support it.

This is general.. but you are correct. But the T-Mobile US S3 does NOT AND NEVER WILL have LTE. The t999 does not have LTE hardware.

That's different. The i9300 will also never have LTE. The i9305 does however.

Not this topic again did OP even ask a q? Or just tell us what happened with the rep?
The reason I contacted Tmobile UK is that we are about to get 4G and they are pushing it in adverts. Tmobile and Orange are to be named EE, this is the Email :-
Superfast is on its way
Hello John
Everything Everywhere, the company behind T-Mobile and Orange is about to launch a new brand called EE.
EE is the new brand for a digital age and will offer the UK's first mobile 4G network and Fibre Broadband for the home, along with the UK's biggest 3G network. 4G will give you superfast internet on the move, making things like downloads, Facebook® and YouTube™ unbelievably quick.
It's all good news for you
As a T-Mobile customer you'll now use EE's new 3G network, the biggest in the UK. Soon you'll start to see EE on your phone screen.
We will be replacing your local T-Mobile and Orange stores with exciting new EE stores, giving you access to almost twice as many stores as today. These EE stores will be staffed by teams of brilliantly helpful people – including specialists in smartphones and systems like Apple, BlackBerry®, Android and Microsoft.
As part of these changes, if you pay by Direct Debit, you'll notice that the name on your bank statement will change to "EE and T-Mobile" within the next two months.
Still the T-Mobile you know and love
You will continue to be a T-Mobile customer. Everything you love about T-Mobile will stay exactly the same. You'll still enjoy the same great value, and your number and plan details won't change either. If you have any further questions you'll find the answers here
Be one of the first to know
Be one of the first to find out about all the great things EE has to offer, including how to move from T-Mobile to EE to start enjoying 4G as soon as it's ready. Sign up now
It's going to be great

I didn't want to lumber myself with a phone on a two year contract, so it's not a dumb question for us over here. Thanks for the other replies.
It says new 3G network? I'm really confused.. I think your best bet is to change the thread title and put UK so people know what you're talking about. The difference between the US and UK is pretty huge. You're not going to get much help because the LTE in the US on tmo topic has been beaten to death.
Come on people CLEAR thread titles! Please!!
I still stand behind my post. People should research what is LTE and how it works.

I did research, have a look here :-

I don't know if live links are allowed. Just take out the spaces.
You will see they have several phones which are LTE enabled. So they are saying it's going to work but the reply from Trish not yet. So I was hoping that someone here and some have given me the info. Your reply was US based and what I wanted was a UK answer.
I already answered it. The i9300 does NOT have LTE. The i9305 does. These are UK phones.

Thanks joshnichols for that.
It's just we over here are getting crossed info and I didn't want to get locked into a long contract with a phone that may or may not work on their network, if it takes a few weeks so be it.
Thanks all.

I am looking at purchasing the Note 2 but can really only find ones in my price range that are on US Cellular. I have unlimited data on VZW and do not want to upgrade and lose it. Verizon Tech support said that it "may" be possible to flash the US Cellular Note 2 to VZW but they do not guarantee it will work. I have some knowledge of rooting and unlocking but want to make sure that this version of the Note will actually work on VZW. Since VZW has given me the OK to flash one, that should cover me I think. Does anyone have experience with this?

by the way. good thread, but wrong area
Sorry about wrong area... However... Isn't the T-Mobile and AT&T version on the same type of network? I'm more concerned as to if the US Cellular one will work on VZW

I believe he means "wrong area" as this question belongs in the Q&A section, not the Original Android Development section of the forum.

Yes. I do understand what he's saying.... I don't know of a way to move my thread. I believe a MOD has to do this. I do not want to double post.
I can't believe that nobody has tried this. What about if it were a Sprint Phone converting to Verizon? Wouldn't it be the same since US Cellular is also CDMA? Could I just unlock it and flash the Verizon ODIN file on the device? Or is there a Hardware Specific issue with the model number?
Anybody?
So... just loading the VZW Bootloader and trying to load the VZW software keeps stopping at tz.img and fails. Then I have to load the boot-insecure.... etc... to get back.
Anybody have experience here?
The Sprint & US Cellular G SIII's were alike enough to use the same Root process/files, but what about ROMS, etc???
They can't be THAT comparable, are they??
Just got (And rooted) the US Cellular SG3 today, so pardon my confusion....
Hipkat! I remember you from the evo forums. Welcome to the s3. I'm not sure about your question, I still have sprint. I've seen this discussed before here I just don't know how long ago it was. How do you like the phone so far? I know it's the same model for boost mobile and cricket (I think).
This might help

Actually you can root every s3 regardless of carriers the same exact way. But roms and partitions are different on different devices. You may have to look deeper into this

Hey MF!! The phone is GREAT! So much better than the Evo, obviously, due to the Evo being 3 years old and nice to be back on a Sammy, where rooting isn't such a chore.

Yeah. Looks like the US Cellular version isn't getting a lot of attention. Weird, because they're a major carrier, as far as I know
Yea I got the evo lte when it was released. It was disappointing. I've had the s3 since November and love it. So much easier.
Swiperrat got the LTE, too, against my advice. he Hates it lol
I sold it while I could, got the s3 for $300, sold the lte for $200 which is what I paid for it anyway.
I honestly searched multiple forums but have not seen specific answers to the following two questions:
1. Is resale value of international version of Samsung Note 2 significantly higher/lower than carpet branded version (ATT in my case)?
2. What about warranty/tech support? I know where to go if anything happens to a phone branded by the carrier. Is there US version of international Note 2 (I do not think so)? If not - where do I go when "stuff goes wrong"?
I am aware of course threes is no LTE in international version, and other obvious differences (such as absence of carrier bloat). These are the only two items where I lack accurate and final answers.
Thank you!

Unlocked international are usually worth the most. Not always for some reason but you can't go wrong with the note2. Maybe after the note3 comes out, there could be an ~equal value on open market for those looking for an lte enabled note2.
Warranty is usually non existent in USA. Your reseller would have to be willing to take it back for you to send to country of origin warranty center. Some resellers will do this and then of course many more won't. You're really on your own answering that question as the variables are too many.

I need some help in understanding this Samsung galaxy note 2
I have been reading all that I can about my new phone a Samsung galaxy note 2 SGH-i317
from what I can tell from my lack of phone Geekizum there is two models a 7000 and 7005??
7000 is European 3g?? and the 7005 4g is USA?? then there are the sprint, Verizon , AT&T, and T-mobile fall under the 4g USA model??
my question is are all the phones from the USA Big four the same phone with different brands on them or are they made differently for each
company?? if not then why are some custom roms made for different phones i.e., sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile
Question if I have rooted my phone and have a custom recovery install can I install any rom?? or go from 4.1.2 to say 4.4???
the unlocked phone Fry's sold me ended up to be a AT&T phone but my carrier is T-Mobile so I wish to be able to find and use the t mobile hot spots but they are not on this AT&T phone
I have downloaded these roms the 1- Jedi X20,2- CleanROM ACE 5.0, and JellyBam v9.00
I have noticed the this site has banned the JellyBAM rom???
so if there is a better rom the jedi x20 and cleanroom ace v5 can someone point me that way Please??
but overall what are the differences between the phone if any and why????

I'm not very active here but I believe all of your questions can be answered within existing threads and/or a few Google searches. You probably haven't gotten a response because of that. There are even forums for each model of the phone.
I bet if you do a bit of research and come back with a more specific question that is posted within a related thread, you will see a response.
The folks here are really helpful but it's a lot to ask them to rewrite/repost information that is already posted and can easily be found.

It may be the structure of your post. No one knows where to start.
If maybe you'd thrown a couple of questions out, you would have gotten answers. I read it three times and it's still WTF.
And the post above mine is correct. Goggling for the phone differences on your own, eliminates cluttering up the forum with answers you could have already found, and may already have.
Basically the N7100 and N7105 are the international versions of the Note 2. Each carrier, Sprint, TMO, Verizon, ATT has their own version of the software basically to load all their own crapware on it.
So there are different versions of ROMS supporting those carriers, with radio files to support their networks.
