Turning off 4G LTE? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Is there a way to turn off 4G LTE and just use 3G without using a ROM? I don't consume much power while at work so I don't really need LTE draining my battery all day but I don't want to turn off the phone.

Anyone?

I was speaking hypothetically. I don't think there is a rom for it, but Im sure there is a way to do it through the settings. Doing a search didn't give me the answer.

I'm not sure if all the versions have this option in settings. I know the tmo rom doesn't while the att rom (rogers base) does.
Go into settings > wireless and networks > more settings > network > mobile networks > network mode, and choose the second option.(GSM/HSPA)

Yeah I don't have these settings. These are mine: settings>wireless and networks>more settings>network>mobile networks>network operators and when I choose "network operators" there is nothing available.

Is there a way to set an APN and have it stay?

If there is that would be nice, LTE is killing my battery. I'm rooted on stock, but I'm not terribly opposed to switching to another touchwiz rom if necessary. Thanks!

I would imagine setting up the 3G APN and deleting the LTE APN would do the trick.
Doesn't let you delete the old one

Oh, didn't see your edited post. I assumed you were on a custom rom. In case of stock, no idea, sorry.
Oh ok, thanks anyways!

You shouldn't have to delete the old one. You **should** be able to make a new one and set it as the default.
Yes either use new apn and set as default or better yet just change the network mode of the phone to the second option so that it never looks for the lte in the first place! (GSM/hspa auto mode instead of GSM/hspa/lte auto mode). U should see this network mode option if not use dialer *#2263# and then select any non lte option u want. If ur rooted then u have options! But simple network mode change is by far easiest. Settings/more settings(under data usage) mobile networks and network mode.

No 4G Icon after flash back to stock

I recently just flashed back to stock today (Rogers) from CM10 and I realized that now I do not have the 4G Icon but only H+ (then quick switch back to 3G). How can I fix this problem ?
Are you sure its a stock rom? H+ is 4g

H+ is 3.5G AT&T has fooled you with the marketing...
Try doing speed test.net and see if its just the icon missing (bad flash) or it really isn't connecting to the LTE network. Check APN settings and your network settings. If all in check, try *#2263# on your dialer and select LTE, just make sure you do it again and put it back to automatic or else your phone won't work on JUST LTE.

Also, check to make sure your IMEI is not showing '0'. It should start with 35.

[Q] How do you disable LTE with a stock phone?

I just bought this stock unlocked telus s3 yesterday and have everything working so far and love this phone. Esp since a jb update is apparently coming soon too.
I haven't setup my apn settings for LTE capabilities yet because I'm afraid of the battery drain and not knowing how to disable the LTE only (leaving hspa data on).
I can't find a setting or toggle anywhere to toggle LTE only? Do I need a third party app for this?

I did this on att, not sure but should work with telus also http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-...isable-lte-t-s3-you-can-disable-hspa-too.html

I just bought my S3 a few days ago from TELUS too, but I believe I've stumbled across what you're looking for under Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode...
Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but it certainly looks like this should do it.
you can also access the hidden menu and there is an option to disable the LTE. Not sure if it officially works or not but it's worth giving it a shot.

I've found that. That's the only place where I see anything LTE related. I was hoping for a toggle or switch.

Try looking under Settings -> Other -> Mobile networks and setting the network type there, or perhaps setting a non-LTE APN from the same menu.

The only ways you can on Task's aokp for ATT customers is to change the APN or only use 2G service. If you're on a Canadian carrier, the LTE toggle on AOKP 4.2.1 (the new build) will kill it.

I'm not sure but I believe that there isn't this option in the ROM because there isn't full cover of LTE signal yet
