Move Rom manager backup to pc - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I am trying to move a Rom Manager backup to the pc so I can wipe my sd card before installing another rom.
If I copy the rom manager/backup folder it copies all files to my computer in no time. Problem is, the copied files are only 24 MB while I have almost 200 apps installed. This can't be right.
How do I copy my entire backup to my computer so I can wipe everything that's on the device?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Removing old clockworkmod backup files

So I have created 2 nandroid backups, and a titanium backup, and now my SD card has no more room on it. I used SwifTP to copy the backups onto my computer. Just to be sure, so I dont F anything up: Is it ok to delete the OLD nandroid backup file? If so, can I do this just by selecting it in Astro, and hitting delete?
Yes, you can delete from Astro if you are 100% certain you are in the right file path, and have the correct file.
You can also delete it from within ROM Manager in the manage/restore backups section - long press what you want to delete, follow prompts.
Unrelated but useful:
A good practice is to every so often copy your SD card contents to your PC so you'll have them, just in case. Maybe every other week or something like that. Why? SD cards do & will fail, and when yours does, you'll have a semi-recent backup of the card.
A full or nearly full SD may make it wonky when you flash a ROM, so maybe consider taking some things off the SD if you can, so the flashing has room to stretch out.
The path is /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2011-01-....yada yada date and time of backup
Thanks for the advice about the full card, I didnt know that.
What I usually do since I still have the OEM card is just leave one backup in there and save the rest to my PC. I then delete them off the SD card to save room. If I ever need to go back to other backups, I can just pull it off my PC without having them all cluttering up my SD card.
You can use rom manager to delete your unneeded backups also

That's pretty much what I do. Then I looked in my Nandroid folder on my computer... it was 30+ GB! Figured I really only need the last few or so. Im always going through and cleaning out my SD card. Between all the roms and apps, lots of junk can be collected.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Wow, only 9.25gb here!
+1 for using Rom Manager

This is the safest method, prevents you from accidentally deleting files from wrong directory. Plus, try to name your backups (NO SPACES!), it makes it all easier.
P.S: My Nandroid folder on my PC is 15GB, on my SD is 600MB (OEM 2GB Card)

Cleaning up your SD card.

Alright, so youve got plenty of random files and stuff stuck on your SD card, that just take up memory. What stuff you do remove? If im rooted do i need all of those root files that i used to root my phone?
Whats the best way to clean it up?
Once your rooted you do not need any files on your sd card related to rooting, you can remove those, what i did was copy the entire contents of my sd card to my computer, then formated my sd card from the phone then only transfered back files I was using or needed for certain apps to function. Cleaned it up and gained valuable storage space.
oh, sweet. thanks for your repsonse. how did you go about copying the files to your computer? like did you just copy and paste the files to...wherE?

Just mount your phone as an external storage device, it will come up under your "My Computer" on your computer as another drive, then just create a new folder on your computer somewhere, then open the phones drive up just copy and paste the files from your phone to the folder on your computer. Remember to keep the file you removed, just in case you forget to move something back that you needed you can always go back into the file and move it back to the phone.
Just FYI..the folder "clockworkmod" in ur sd card contains your recovery and all ur nandroid backups..you might wanna keep that one onboard..

Dumb Q - Is it safe to delete .zip after flashing?

As the title says really....
I've flashed a new radio and ROM, and now the zips are taking up space on my memory card.
Is it safe to delete the zip files now?
Yes, it's fine ! However I keep them on there in case of an emergency.
It's safe to delete them. What sort of emergencies could happen? You'd keep the files on your SD card if something could happen while you're away from your PC and ain't flashing anything.
I guess if you flash on the spot alot, or want to, you'd better keep those zips on your card. That or make constant backups and delete them when you make another, which can be more annoying and more space involved
in my opinions, you can delete it only if you have at least 1 nandroid backup via cwm.
but actually, in case you dont have any nandroid backup, cant boot and you also dont have the rom zip file to flash (so you can't flash anything):
1. you can take out your sd card, use card reader and put it to your pc.
2. copy the zip file to your sd card,
3. put it (sd card) back to your phone
4. walla, you have your rom zip file again.
but i think 200+mb of rom zip file is not a big deal to store in your sd card, right?
yeah, test the phone for some time and make a nand backup. Then you could delete the zip files if you like. I keep them on my SD card (32GB) so no need of the space.

Titanium backup on T-mobile's Galaxy S3

Can anyone tell me what the settings should be on my Galaxy S3 in order to save a Titanium backup to the external SD card? While I had Titanium and used it on my HTC Sensation without a problem, I have encountered that when I have it on my T-mo Galaxy SIII, it saves the backups to the internal 16 GB memory by default, not the SD card. This is a problem because the backup is erased when I instal a new ROM and wipe the partition. Recently I installed a new ROM and found out that when I went to recover all my apps they were gone and were not on my SD card backed up (even though I had ran it and completed a backup). My pics and videos were still on the SD card so I know that it was not formatted itself when I installed the new ROM.
My current backup folder shows as: /mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup
Should it be something else in order to save to my external 64 GB SDCard? Should any other settings be changed to something else? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
writici change
That should be the right folder. /sdcard/ refers to the external microSD for our phones. I just checked my TI settings and that's the same folder I use.
In your 64gb micro SD create a folder called "TitaniumBackup" <----this is very important!
Then open up Titanium Backup app and hit menu button, then go to Preferences.
Scroll down and select *Backup folder location.
Press "Detect", then "Whole device".
Once its done you will see /mnt/extSdCard/Titaniumbackup in the list. Select it. (the other one is gonna be /mnt/titaniumbackup thats internal sd)
Then select "Use the current folder".
If it asks you to transfer data you can which will transfer your existing back in the internal to the new one. Up to you. Or you can just start a whole new backup which will now store in you micro sd card.

Wrong
it's /mnt/extSDcard
Or you can connect your phone to your computer and pull the titanium backup folder from your phone for safe keeping while you flash. Then once everything is booted up again you can reconnect and drag and drop the folder back on the phone.

Problems with backups

I am having problems backing up files prior to flashing a newer version of CM13. I wanted to back up all files to my sd and computer but keep getting errors.
I installed a different file manager which allows me to move some files to the sd card but I still am not able to drag and drop files to my computer.
Error while copying "contacts.vcf".
There was an error copying the file into /home/....../hima/sd
Error getting file: -6: Not SupportedI am not able to copy or move recovery and other backup files to sd or computer. I have not encrypted anything.
What needs to be done or how do I move my backups into a safe place before flashing a new rom?
Thanks for your help!!

If the files are on internal storage move them to an external sd with a file browser.
If you are using a custom rom and having usb issues then uncheck usb debugging in dev settings.
