Media invisible after moving. - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Basically if I download or Bluetooth a file the phone sees it fine. If I then move it it effectively becomes invisible. Quickpic has no problem finding the images and mxplayer find vids ok, but stock album will not see pics anymore, just says they can't be displayed.
The worst thing is music, neither Walkman nor player pro can ever see it again. I can access and play the MP3 via a file browser just fine.
I have tried clearing caches, data, uninstall, reinstall, forcing media scan, everything I could think of.
The only other thing I have noticed is that when I connect the phone to my laptop it will also still show deleted files on the memory. They can't be used but do take up space until deleted via laptop.
Any suggestions guys, this problem started about a week ago.
I should add that I am on 45fw with root and locked bl.

MTP / Internal Storage

So, I have a bunch of MP3s in a folder called media my music player refuses to read. I also have a bunch of music copied over in a music folder, which play fine. Both appear to be on my internal storage. So, I tried to move the music from the media folder to the music folder, and they wont move. I renamed the folder using root explorer, and the name doesn't change on internal storage when I mount. I can find the renamed folder through ES file explorer. I don't get it. This MTP sucks, this shouldn't be an issue, I should just be able to copy over files, they should be there, and be playable. Starting to not like this phone so much.
Mtp is a bit of a pain in the arse sometimes. Try putting it into ptp instead, should show all folders then.
Or stop hassling with cables altogether and install something like WiFi File Explorer Pro from the market.

Believe it or not, not everyone has a router at home. Also, nothing beats drag and drop, much simpler and faster.
O.P try uninstalling the drivers and install the Samsung drivers before connecting the phone again. Or try PTP instead like 318vert said.
I had this problem with wallpapers in gallery.
I think I made the folder from the computer while it was connected. Then copied over. I did it a few times. Also try making the folder on your phone and try.
With music, I just put them in the already created music folder.

Of course. But since the OP has problems with MTP, this is another way to get around it (disclaimer: only for those with a wifi router).
Plus you get around plugging cables, which I don't like.
OP: If you are running Win XP, make sure you have Windows MediaPlayer 11 installed. It's apparently tied to the MTP drivers somehow.
Might seem weird but I have no issues with it at all, but I have wondered what the "media" folder is, I don't put my media in there.
Example (Movies>(All movies here)TV> (All TV here) )
And for Music I just made a music folder and threw it all in there.
I think the media folder is for something else. Just try making a movies and music folder.

[Q] Manage music

IT guy but Android noob here and although I love the ATT s3, I hate to say I miss the iPhone when it comes to managing music. As much as I am against computers and pones as appliances, it just works in apple world. I am struggling with managing and loading music. Currently on rc9 of liquidsmooth rom based on 4.1.2.
Music monkey will not transfer to the sd card on windows 7 64bit and kies will simply not see the phone. Does not matter if I am in USB debug or not. Media monkey acts odd in that it sometimes sees the internal storage as external and vice versa. Mostly though it just fails to copy music over to the sd as if it does not have permission to write. Checked permissions in the platform.xml file and all is well and correct. I simply want to transfer music with playlists built and I am struggling. Am I dealing with a jelly bean issue or is it due to custom rom?
Any advice is greatly appreciated or an alternative procedure.
Thanks

Get Astro or root explorer. To transfer within the phone.
If you are having connectivity issues with your pc...get a free drop box account...or two. Upload your music and download with your phone. Easy.
Am I the only one in the world that just does drag-and-drop in windows explorer to manage my music? Never had a problem with it and I have 70+GB of music. iTunes is so overrated.
I have always just copied music into a "Music" folder on SD card. Like manske90 said above me just drag and drop with windows explorer. If you have your music organized in itunes and want to stick with itunes there are a couple options I have found helpful. You can make a music folder on the desktop and drag the songs you want from itunes itself into there (which will just make copies of the files) and clean out the folder afterwards. Or you can figure out what music you want in itunes right click the song and choose "open in explorer" and copy/paste to the SD card. There also seems to be a few stand alone applications if you google around, but I personally have never used any of them. Best of luck!
Have you tried Easy Phone Sync? It uses your itunes library to sync music onto android devices. You can sync the whole library or just certain playlists. It also lets you choose where you want the songs to be copied to ie internal memory or sd card.

This is the link to the desktop application and then you just need to download easy phone sync from the play store in order for the desktop application to make contact with your phone. Also it's absolutely free.

Thanks for the replies folks...I really don't want this to be a two step process (copy to phone and use a file manager on the phone to move the music again) and honestly it should not be this hard to move music.
This is intensely frustrating....just connected a non rooted, Tmobile S3 with stock 4.1.1 ROM and it will allow me to write to the SD card on that device with no trouble, from Media Monkey....makes no sense whatsoever especially since the permissions appear to be correct for the Rooted problem phone. it very much appears to be a permissions issue....

Isyncr. It uses iTunes and tranfers music, playlists...etc. it is flawless. You won't be sorry.

[Q] DLNA video stopped working - Help please

Can anyone please help me? I can't seem to find this issue anywhere else.
I work in video content creation, and rely heavily on the use of DLNA to push videos to devices from my HTC oneX. Since updating to jb this feature has stopped working on all external devices, with all video codecs and file types.
I use the sense Gallery; I hit More> Select Player> and then select. Since updating the video control screen comes up as normal, but reads 'Stopped' instead of 'buffering' or 'playing' and nothing happens on the external player. These are the exact same files that I used to play with no problems before updating.
I have also tried using other DLNA apps from Play store, but none work.
Having read everything I can find on the problem, and tried everything I can think of with no results, I just tried a full hard reset. However the problem remains the same.
HTC one X
Android 4.1.1
Sense 4.1
The players are a number of different DLNA TVs and computers.
The file types are usually .mp4 or .avi but it is the same with any video file. Photos and Music still play on DLNA devices with no problems.
Other info:
I have always noticed the same outcome with video files that I opened with a 3rd party File App, such as ES File Explorer. Previously, though, DLNA has always worked when opened with the native Gallery. (Sure DLNA is glitchy and cuts out every now and then, but on the whole it works if you fiddle about with things.)
I have noticed that a number of items come up on the Task Manager list when I try to push content. It seems to me that some of these might double up and cause issues?... But I have no idea about all that developer stuff. Task Manager:
-Gallery
-HtcDLNAMiddleLayer
-DLNAMiddleLayer
-Select Player
-View Video
(Sometimes there seems to be a 2nd Gallery launched there as well.)
Can anyone help me? Has anyone had the same?
This is frustrating because it used to work so well and suddenly stopped.
Thanks
Jonathan

[Q][T999] S3 doesn't recognize Music...What could it be?

For about a year and a half, I used a Sandisk 64 GB SDXC card on my phone and it worked great. I recently bought a Tablet, so I decided to use the 64 GB card on it and replace that card with a HC 32 GB Class 10 Micro SD Card. Initially, everything went by smoothly, I would be able to listen to music and even play various formats like .WAV & .FLAC with PowerAMP, and some with the standard android player.
Now, any and every song file I play, whether it be MP3, WAV, FLAC, or M4A doesn't even load up - It just outright tells me that file format is invalid, and when I check for the file folders within the music apps, I get a "0 Files Found" message, though I can see the files whenever I use a file manager app or root explorer app.
I've tried everything, even uninstalling & reinstalling poweramp, wiping dalvik & cache, rebooting the system & accessing the files via an internal media player(Root Explorer), using different music apps - nothing works.
The funny thing is, when I access the files while the S3 is connected to my computer, they play just fine.
Has this ever happened to anyone? What could I have done wrong?
Weird!
Try clearing data on media storage. Then reboot and wait 15-30 mins for it to rebuild its database (depends on how much you have). Then try again.

That could possibly work...how do I do that?
On app manager, find media storage, clear data, reboot.

Nexus Media Importer

Has anyone else had a Problem with NMI? ever since I updated to 5.0.1 I have not been able to get it to work properly with mt OTG to play movies or pics. When I connect it opens up and sees the folders but when I click on the folders it acts as if they are empty. I know the files play on my device because it worked on 5.0 but not on later versions. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times and have gotten the same results. I thought it might be file types but they are mostly jpg pictures, mp4 videos, and word documents or pdfs.
Working fine here on a stock N& running 5.1.1
NTFS formatted stick and jpg pics and mp4/wmv movies were all OK.
