I received the update through the "Clear data" on the "Google Services Framework".
I downloaded the ota normally, but when the system enters in fastboot (the green robot with open belly) I get a red exclamation over it and the update don't finish, resulting in gnex to reboot and keep the 4.1.2 version.
That happened twice.
What is happening?

Is this takju or yakju? Is there an error code?
It is JZ054k, and no, no error code. Just a red exclamation over the green droid and after some seconds the system reboots, entering in normal 4.1.2.

Just tried googling, with not much info coming up.
What is the difference?
Same here with me.
Completely stock. XXLA2 4.1.2
Getting the update OTA, the 74MB update downloads, device restarts and shows that its updating but then Android with red exclamation mark. After a while it reboots and still on 4.1.2.
It's happened 3 times so far.

I have been fighting with my phone for hours thinking I had an issue with recovery or boot partitions. Thank you kindly. Any idea why my baseband was different than what it was supposed to be? I did convert my device from yakju to takju during Google I/O but I've had no update issues since.
4.2 OTA Installed! <3
To those of you having the same issue, do this:
Go here and get the radio image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27984443&postcount=1097 (edit: Or you can pull it from the (JZO54K) factory image on Google's site (extract archive once downloaded to find it)).
Extract the .img from the .zip file, put it in the ADB directory (you'll need adb files or android SDK for this). I renamed it to radio.img for ease.
Boot into fastboot, and from adb console type "fastboot flash radio radio.img".
Now the OTA will install and all will be well in the world.

I tried superboot and the manual method, no dice. Stuck on the Google logo for both
I had to wait at least five minutes before it finally rebooted again after fast booting the boot.img. I was sure that I wasn't booting but it turns out it was just taking a long time

Are you sure it's in a bootloop?
If your following this guide, step 4 rooting, give it some time. I thought mine was froze at that step as well, but I waited and it booted up. Probably took about 2 minutes or so (though it felt like 20).
Edit: Ha, swm beat me to the punch
Nevermind... apparently it worked and gave me SU without getting past the Google logo. Did a battery pull and superuser worked. Very strange.

people here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352413&page=12
are saying it takes about 5 minutes, not actually a boot loop...
I found the LTE img here , I actually loaded odin and wiped data and it solved my bootloop, wasnt stuck on the animation it was stuck at the actual Google, then it would vibrate and reset Google just keep doing it. Apparently that old img works fine with 4.0.1 but 4.0.2 sends you in the loop
There's also this tarball recently issued direct from google:
http://groups.google.com/group/andr...hread/9a944a4dbc8d23c5/f6002e27c9b41a5d?pli=1
It's not 4.0.2 though, that puts you back on 4.0.1.

ok, when you unzip it, go to the image-mysid-itl41d.zip folder, and move system.img and boot.img to the same directory as fastboot.
Now once you have fastboot up in a terminal and your device is in fastboot mode the commands are:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
Unless you're going the method from the noob thread, in which case thebfastboot commands should be (correct me if I'm wrong):
fastboot-windows.exe flash system system.img
fastboot-windows.exe flash boot boot.img
fastboot-windows.exe reboot
And that should have you booting back to stock.
I ran into this issue myself since I was on 4.0.2. Once I was back on 4.0.1 I used super boot straight from [email protected]'s thread and it worked fine. Upgraded back to 4.0.2 afterwards and still kept root.
Let me know if this helps.

4.0.3 is on halt at the moment.
4.0.2 is latest GN OTA
use a custom ROM (such as AOKP) to get 4.0.3 now

Are you on a yakju build? https://market.android.com/details?...SwxLDEsImRlLmNicnVlZ2cub2ZmaWNpYWx1cGRhdGUiXQ.. use that to check.
If you're not on a 'yakju' build, this may explain why you haven't received the OTA yet.
You can take things into your own hands,
1) Convert your non-yakju device to yakju by fastbooting stock Google images (you can do it to 4.0.2 as well).
Link: http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
2) Flash a custom ROM on 4.0.3 base such as AOKP.
Changes are..... go google it.

Fastboot doesn't but unlocking Fastboot does erase everything so be sure to make a proper backup before doing that.... Or you just wait until Samsung releases the 4.0.2 OTA...
Edit: Oh..., unlocking Fastboot is nescessary for rooting the phone, and that is needed for flashing Yakju in stead of Yakjuxw... There are multiple threads around this forum on how to do that...

It's basically no problem if you ar eon Yakjuxw. It just means that your updates will come from Samsung. Fastboot is just the standard bootloader and gives you some boot options. It is standard accessible through the phone, booting by pressing Volume Up+Volume Down+ Power all at the same time. In order to flash a different ROM (for instance Yakju build) you will have to unlock fastboot (yes that will erase everything).

Ok... If your GNex won't connect to your PC through USB you might have a different problem. In order to flash Yakju or any other rom you need to be able to connect to PC first in order to unlock the bootloader. To my knowledge there is no way doing that directly from your phone.
To connect your Gnex to your PC you will need the ADB/Fastboot drivers. I myself used the MSKIP tool that you can find here: Mskip Tool You can install the drivers for an USB connection from the tool and it is explained there how you can see if the phone is recognised and connected. From there on it is pretty much self explaining with the tool. I think you might even turn your phone into a Yakju build by using the menu option "Extract and Flash Google Factory Stock Rom". Off course you'll have to unlock the Fastboot bootloader first.
The post rom MSKIP is pretty clear so it might give you all the info you need from here....
Good luck

In order for the OTA to work properly you have to have stock recovery, radio, bootloader, and system files. You can't have modified anything except an unlocked bootloader.

so what you're saying is I have to re flash yakju?
I restore my phone to factory settings first?
I had yakjuxw also, it comes with a different radio. flashing to yakju (or takju) is not enough. you have to flash the radio also. look for efrant's post in how to do it and get it, it's in these forums, that's what I followed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
sorry, just re-read the question, what you describe happened to me when I deleted the recovery folder from the update file. The unmodified file updated fine. But then you have to root and install clockwork recovery again, which is fairly easy too.
Another issue I had prior to that was when I tried to flash the update and I didn't realize that the file didn't finish copying to the phone. check file size it should be around 147mb I think. I hope one of these tips help!

That is because you do not have the XXLA2 radio installed. The last update did NOT update the radio, so it didn't check to see if you had the XXLA2 radio installed and, hence, did not fail.
I had exactly the same problem, however as everyone is saying; Just flash the xxla2 radio again and the problem is solved!

If you have CWM flashed, you have to manually flash the update -- it won't install over-the-air. If you want to install it over-the-air, flash back the stock recovery then accept the update.

Not true. Root makes no difference.

So either way I will lose all my settings, home screens and what not?
I used Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to do all of my rooting, installing CWM and all-- is there a way to accomplish what I need to on there?

It's exact. But root can only be done if you have bootloader unlocked, and with unlocked bootloader can not install OTA updates

No, updating using an OTA update file will NOT make you lose anything.

I can't help you out with the toolkit, but have a look at my signature for some useful links on doing things without a toolkit.

OK, so the best thing would be to flash the stock recovery? Sorry for all the questions, and I really appreciate all your help. I swear I used to know how to do this crap on my Dinc, but it's been years since I did all that.

Go to the Google page with all the images and download the mysid IMM76K image, extract the recovery.img from within, and flash it using fastboot: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

OK, I'm trying this now... I downloaded the images from Google.. extracted its contents... found the recovery image file. Do I need to put that file into a zip file?

Gnex Toolkit wasn't working because of some missing file... re-installed it and flashed the stock recovery via Gnex Toolkit (I think). Is there a way to check which recovery is running? Anyway, if it is indeed stock, I just got prompted again for the OTA JB update.. it's installing now.... fingers crossed!!!
..OK so now it rebooted... started installing, got about halfway through.. paused, then it went to the stock recovery screen and stayed with a red triangle around an exclamation point! What is happening here?!
I have now re-locked the bootloader and received the prompt for OTA again....
Still won't work for me. I've tried even flashing the stock image and it won't install at all. Actually nothing is installing.
I've never done anything to the phone besides unlocking the BL and rooting and switching to CWM. It seems to have something to do with the SD mount.. nut then again I have no idea.
Where's all the Android gurus at?

Guys i am having this EXACT problem, except on a S4 (I337M to be exact)
Here is my thread with the details
http://forums.androidcentral.com/as...t-update-ota-failure-using-triangle-away.html
But basically, im just wondering how i can get stock recovery back and get this ota to work!!!
Thanks!
It seems several users across the web are reporting that the 4.2 Jelly Bean update over the air (OTA) to their Stock Galaxy Nexus devices is failing after reboot, with a collapsed Android showing a red triangle. I am also affected, and have never seen this many reports before.
Some examples:
http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/forum/galaxy-nexus-help/8116-system-update-fails-why.html
https://www.google.com/webhp?source...b024c3c&bpcl=38625945&biw=1278&bih=1016&ion=1
I am stock GSM Galaxy Nexus.
I am not rooted.
My bootloader is unlocked.
I have tried five times by clearing data in Google Services Framework and applying the update, which downloads OTA and verifies correctly. There is no logical reason an unrooted, untampered with factory stock GN should fail in this way, so I suspect something is wrong at Google's end.
Any ideas from anyone smart and constructive?

That is helpful however my last update to 4.1.2 was also done OTA so I cannot think why I don't have the required radio.
Either way, what is the simplest way to resolve this, without rooting?

D. Type in the commands into the command prompt
1) Make sure your computer recognizes your device by typing: fastboot devices
2) Unlock your bootloader (if you have not already done so): fastboot oem unlock
7) Optional (NOT optional for n00bs) -- Flash the radio: fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxla02.img (or whatever the name is of the radio image that you downloaded).

help , i too am on takju 4.12 stock w baseband xxlf1 and i returned to stock unrooted 4.12 using wugfresh's toolkit and return stock recovery as well .
ive done this 3 or 4 times over the last weekend and now again am downloading the OTA for another try,
I always get the red triangle after a few seconds . Is there a way to get the OTA upgrade to proceed when the red trianlge appears ?
i tried other method to uograde to 4.2 using techfanatics mac instructions but after upgrade the reboot hangs at the multi colored X and will not proceed to boot.
I tried factory reset of CWM but my Nexus gsm still hangs at the multicolored X,, so i went back to Wugfresh's Nexus Root toolkit 1.55 to save me by unroot flash stock back to 4.12 takju. (4 times already)
Any help suggestions would be appreciated, am pulling the 4.2 OTA again and will try again,
If I just stay at 4.12 the system uodate remnder bugs me every hour.
