I've honestly searched high and low for the answer to this problem, but I can't seem to be able to find it.
I have a Note II (N7100) with Telcel (México) with stock TouchWiz + root.
First of all, when I started my phone, I wasn't greeted by the typical samsung AccuWeather widget in the homescreen, and I couldn't find it in the widgets section. I thought it was a simple matter of my phone not shipping with the widget, since Telcel is very liberal with modifying people's phones. I searched for the files and found a thread where the three components of the widget had been uploaded.
I downloaded the files (AccuweatherDaemon.apk; AccuweatherWidget.apk; & AccuweatherWidget_Main.apk) and proceeded to try and place them in '/system/app/', but there were already files with the same name, but with a different extension (AccuweatherDaemon.apk; AccuweatherDaemon.odex; AccuweatherWidget.odex; & AccuweatherWidget_Main.odex). I tried copying the .apk Widget & Widget_Main files figuring that I would be able to since these had a different extension, but I wasn't able to. I also tried installing from widget.apk without success.
Does anyone know what is preventing me from using the Accuweather widget if it's already installed, or if it is indeed installed in my note II?
Thanks.
I have this exact same problem. On either stock or ARHD, the widget is there on a clean wipe but it's not available to choose in the widget drawer, and if I remove it I can't get it back.

I'm going to give this thread a bump (as per rules, it's been more than 24 hours) in hope of getting an answer.
Cheers.

The other day when looking for a new wallpaper for my phone, using the 'Menu > wallpaper' process I managed to select an option which wasnt 'HTC Wallpapers' or 'Live Wallpapers' which had quite a few different wallpapers I hadnt seen before, I think this came from installing the 3DGallery app.
However, today when I try to change the wallpaper to one of these 'new ones' I can no longer find them through the same method. I have searched and searched but I cannot figure out where they are or how I did it in the first place. I am still using one of the 'new wallpapers' I set the other day so they must exist somewhere.
Does anyone know how I can find the option im looking for or these mysterious wallpapers? I have a feeling when I chose wallpapers I selected gallery and then I was presented with an option for 'gallery wallpapers' or something similar. It is extremely frustrating not being able to work out whats happened or why I cant do it again. I have tried resetting the phone but still have the same issue.
I know this is possible, surely some one else must know what I'm talking about? I'm assuming it its the default android 2.1 way of setting wallpapers. I have got to the point where I dont care about the actual wallpaper I jury want to know how its done and that it can be done.

Can you describe or post and image of the wallpaper you are using?
There must have been about 15 to choose from, not organised into any particular categories, some abstract ones but the ones that stand out are two different ones of beaches. I remember trying several different ones, setting them and then going home to view them, before going back to the same option and changing them. This must only have been at the start of the weel. It was late at night when I was doing it which is why its not 100 percent clear for me.

I have found out how it was possible. It came from installing a different launcher, which I then went onto remove. The launcher I installed can be found here. I reinstalled it from the apk and I have the different wallpaper option back.
Hey all...thanks for looking and possibly answering. Heres my question. The one and only thing I do not like about my Evo is the contacts app. and the dialer. I came over from the iphone and the best thing on it was the combination of the dialer and the contacts, call log and favorites all within one application. I was at best buy and noticed that on a Samsung fascinate the STOCK contacts app is exactly what I have been missing. I found a couple stock apk files for a samsung moment and fascinate from another forum and tried to install on my evo and they would not install. So..guess what my question is...why wont they install? Are they locked so you cant install on different phones? If yes...is there a way around this. Or simply...how do I get the stock contacts apk from a samsung to my Htc evo?
My Evo is rooted
PS...I have spent countless hours searching for this type of contacts app that has everything I want in the market..it does not exist, so please please dont reply look in the market for something similar. I am looking to put this exact stock samsung app on my Evo.
Thanks everyone!
Most of the time these "stock" apps are odexed files, I would suggest getting the system.img file from the phone/rom that has the dialer app you want and extract the odex file AND the apk file for the dialer then run it through an apk deodex script(I'm on a MacBook), then try to install it. Not promising this will work, but give it a shot and if it doesn't pan out politely ask a dev if they can port it, XDA is full of helpful and willing devs, as long as you aren't an ass about it like some people are, let me know if this helps!

+1..... I'd like to see this ported over. I had a Samsung Captivate and I miss my contacts app much better than what I have on Evo.

Anyone had luck on this? I just upgraded to s5 from s2 and want the stock memo widget from s2 installed onto the s5 as the s5 widget can't go smaller than 4x1.
You might have better luck asking in the Samsung forums. The most recent post prior to yours was over three years ago and it doesn't seem that anyone has an answer, that, and the OP was looking for a way to use an app from a non-HTC device on a HTC phone.

Hello XDA,
I'm having trouble getting the TouchWhiz calendar to run at all on the INC3PTION Rom. As I only have one other post I am unable to ask for help in the project forum. I have tried taking the calendar from dman's Back 'N' Black version of Inc3ption but that didn't work either. I have tried a few other downloads including the one given in the inc3ption thread yet nothing is working. I am not sure what info may be needed for you to help so just let me know if you need any more information.

Just to get this clear, you're using v1 right? And are you installing the calendar as a regular apk, or pushing it to system/app?
I got the application to work, just not the widget. I'm using a market calendar in place of the touchwiz calendar.
Yes I'm using v1. I am pushing it to system/app. I tried using the files you linked to in the Inc3ption thread but they wouldn't work for me. I don't need the widget because I've never really used it in the first place. I would very much like to use the TouchWhiz calendar simply because I like it's interface. If you know of a minimalistic calendar app that doesn't have ads or have "pro" features that would work too.
When you push it to system/app, did you set the permission to owner read and write?

I don't think I did. I'm about to go to bed so I'll try that in the morning. Let's hope it works!
EDIT: I used OsiMood's stock calendar stuff so I can have a calendar. Thanks for your help all the same doode2011!
Has anyone gotten the Note 3's version of S Note working on this device? It doesn't show up on the Galaxy Apps store (4.4+ I guess?), but there must be a modded version or something. I love love love S-Note, and I want badly to sync it with the desktop software but the stock app on my phone uses .snb files instead of the newer .spd so they won't talk to each other. Any help? I tried using this. It installed OK, but won't run. Thanks!
I was sure I'd find posts about this here, but searches brought up nothing. The search engine doesn't seem to handle "s note" properly. My apologies if this is a repeat.
I am new to this forum, actually its the only forum I was ever on. I have been trying to research my issue for over an hour now and I need an answer that is put into the simplest terms. A lot of the questions and answers are to techy for me to understand, I am also coming from having an iphone for the 6 years to having a Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
If someone could answer my question and dumb it down for me I would really appreciate it.
I downloaded Touchwiz (I was just trying to download a new calendar) and my whole phone changed. I spent the weekend adding widgets to the different pages and putting my apps into specific folders, but once I downloaded Touchwiz everything disappeared. I want to get my phone back to the way it was when I first purchased it. I have had this phone for a few months so I don't want to do anything that would delete all of my pictures, videos or apps.
All I want is to get rid of this touchwiz and get the stock setting or whatever the original setup was called back the way I had it set up before I lost it.
I know some people are going to think I am stupid, and yes I will agree with them. I am very stupid when it comes to Android devices. If someone is feeling nice enough to explain this to me in the simplest terms (like you are talking to a 2nd grader) I would really appreciate it.
Thank you!!
From where did you download touchwiz? The Samsung official touchwiz isn't just something you download and intall. Do you mean you installed a launcher from the play store?
I can help you get back to original setup, but you have to explain exactly what you installed and how.

In settings under applications you can clear defaults, hit default applications then hit home and select the touchwiz launcher. push your home button and you should be set.
