Found a way to get the cricKet visual voicemail apk on any rom (ONLY TESTED ON MY HTC ONE V), but the voicemail app only works for those on the $60 plan or the $70 plan.
*First go to the link posted below and download the cricKet store front app adn install it.
*Second open the app you just installed, and it will ask you to update it (you have to update it no matter what, it's only like half a MB) then re-open the app once it has updated itself and search for "visual voicemail"
*download it (it says you have to buy it, but if your on one of the two plans above it will be free) install it and open it
and there you go now you have visual voicemail on whatever rom you choose to run

Many have had issues with their visual voicemail apps disappearing, and not available in Market. Thanks to the folks below for providing the APKs for manual install.

tmo-vm-1.2.19.apk - props to chewy106
There was an app update available, and after the update the original icon on the screen didn't work but was still there, I had to use the icon in the drawer.
I heave an update available in the market but get an error when I try to d/l. I also don't have the icon in my app drawer.

initially i had to download it from the market to even have access to visual voicemail cuz it wasn't already on my phone by default.
in the market, look under the t-mobile tab at the very bottom. there's 2 other T-mo apps avail. caller tunes & something else.
and after the update i was able to activate Visual Voicemail from within the drawer.
and just as an FYI, here's how Visual Voicemail looks after the UPDATE:
That sure looks nice. Wish I could update mine. I went and looke in T-mobile tab and all I saw was caller tunes, ringtones, and my account. Tried to update mine again and it said my request could not be found. Then I tried to uninstall it and that force closed the market. Guess ill just have to stick with the original for now.

sorry for the late response.
i'm down to post the APK file.
anybody care to instruct me on how to do it from my phone with no desktop interface?
i have:
~temp-root
~gScript Lite
~root explorer
~android terminal emulator
I don't know how, but I would love it when you figure out how to do it.
I'm on my second G2. First one rebooted all the time...hung on the 2 screen.
Second one incoming and outgoing calls are silent...great when someone I don't want to talk to calls, but not so great when an important call is coming in.
Guess I will have to go back to the G1.

i used 'backup for root users' to do this on my MT3G, i'd hope it should work for this too.
t-mobile visual voicemail
I myself came here looking to find out what was up with the update... For those of you who don't have any version of the app, it's attached to my message here. I got an update notification and also get a "not found" error when I click on it in the Market.
My G2 didn't even include Visual Voicemail. However, I did already load up the .apk
i heard there was some issues with vvm, so that is why it was taken off the market. my original pre order g2 had vvm. but since i got my replacement it did not come with it and i try looking for it in market but nothing. =(
thanks for the upload...i'll try to see if i can install it.
I use YouMail. A lot nicer IMHO
looks like it works...but i want the new version...not sure how to get that one.
Newest VVM
Attached.
If it returns "unauthorized" errors, make sure the Visual Voicemail provisioning is on your line (it's free). Seems to be working fine on my 3rd G2, though it lost one of my 2 previous saved messages from before I returned the 2nd one earlier today. Though the update says it will delete all old messages, so keeping one of the two is a bonus I guess
I wondered what happened to the VVM app too. Couldn't find it on the Market.
Finally just gave up and signed up for Google Voice on my G2 and have been getting my voicemails that way along with the transcripts.
I'd like to go back and try the VVM app from TMo though for comparison.
I'm running the newest MIUI - n_i_x MIUI v0.12.3.0 on my Incredible. It doesn't have the Verizon Visual Voicemail. I've downloaded the Verizon Visual Voicemail from the market, but it tells me that my phone came with a visual voicemail application and that I need to uninstall the one I downloaded from the market.
Has anybody gotten the VVM to work with MIUI? Or, does anybody have the Incredible vvm.apk file I can try?
Also, please do not ask me why I don't just use Google Voice. I'm asking about the VVM application. I've also asked this on the MIUI Dev forum and nobody has answered.
Thanks.
NT - Though I found an answer when I didn't.
Verizon VMM on non Stock ROMs
You can modify the build.prop change the "ro.HorizontalVVM = true" to "ro.HorizontalVVM = false" and the VVM app from the market gets past its uninstall me screen and continues to set-up. I use Google Voice and am not paying the $3 for the VZW service so I don't know how far it actually works. Test it out and let us know? Maybe others can include the update to the file for ROM releases?

Yup, this worked. Attached is the edited build.prop.
How do u install this?
I have tried to find this in the market but cannot seem to locate it. Tried to look through my SD card too, but cannot locate it.
I would like to have it for the college football portion. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or have a link?
I checked out Sprint's website and found this app: http://androidapps.apptap.com/android/id/com.mobitv.client.nfl2010
It was the only NFL app they had.

I have the stock app called Sprint Football Live from EC05 - not sure if that's what you want. I think NFL ended their relationship with Sprint sometime in the past year so the NFL app was removed from all sprint phones.
Here is the football app, you can try it out just extract from the zip and move to /system/app with a root file explorer of your choice.
try here - should work. they text u a link to dl the app http://sports.sprint.com/football/?ECID=vanity:football
here's the direct site. you need to open it on ur phone - http://fb.tmce.biz/wap4?app=fbmain&NEXT=FBLIVE&c=spr
EDIT: Weird. It sent me the app via text msg but when i tried to open it it said I need to be on Sprint to use it. (I am.)
Google voice crashes when it starts to sync messages and texts, which is about 3 seconds after opening it.
Is there a fix?
I want to use my old Evo4g as a media device, but would also like to use it for Google voice so I can maintain a spare phone line
Thanks in advance.

Make sure you use an ICS version of Google voice and not an older one. I'm order to sync with gvoice on ICS with a ROM that wont have a registered number you would had have to have already synced with a number before in the past. It wont verify it with just your Google account like it can on a GB version.

I had an issue like that on my jelly bean media ROM. I had to remove it from /system/app and install from playstore/sideload. Try that and let me know if it works for you.

So I deleted Google voice and re-downloaded it from the play store. I can make and receive calls using groove IP lite... but when I receive a text and try to open it, voice crashes.

Let me look into a few things, see what I find, I'll let you know.

I upgraded from an ics rom to a jb rom. I didn't have a problem with Google Voice not working though. I just downloaded the app from the playstore and logged into my account. I'd say make sure you have the right gapps flashed for your rom and check the voice settings on your computer or something to make sure your phone that you are using is showing up there.
For me Voice is pretty buggy and slow; I don't particularly like it. So there are probably other/better alternatives out there if this doesn't work for you

Yes there is a simple fix for this download zip flile wwwmediafirecom/download/utzkqffj8bbk0cm/Add_communications_to_Uberdriod_rc3_and_add_gvoice_and_make_it_work.zip
unzip to sd card and install all apks inside "luckypatcher and romtoolbox lite" is optional i used them to install them as system apps but u dont have to.
chromebookmarks has to be installed and the mms and phone and contacts and contact storage and talk and telerphony apks must be installed for gvoice to work then u can use romtoolbox to convert them to system app if u wish so they dont talk up space on sd or exsd.
if gvoice still fc after these steps go to setting then apps then go to google voice then clear cache and data then restart app but still one problem not a big one but all ur contacts must be backed up to sd card easy enoght to do that use current andriod device go to contact app menu select import/export and choose export to sd and then transfer the .vcf file to ur evo and then go to the contact app i just provided u in this post for ur evo and click menu import/export and choose import this time and ur good to go should automaticly find ur vcard '.vcf' file on sd.
this should work for u if u have any questions feel free to ask...
and to the responce to others who answered this question b4 me this issue has nothing to do with witch version of gvoice is installed there no way to download wrong version from google play u can only download the version for ur os witch in this case is andriod 4.0.4 ubersonic rom
and u have to register a number with gvoice apon signup so that absolutely makes no sense.
this issue is caused by the fact all communication apps were removed so when gvoice go to sync up messages and voicemails it also looks for new messages in stock mms apk and stock phone apk and voicemaill apk and uses telephony apk also so when it goes to sync u will get a force close if all apps i provided are not installed. Your Welcome
{NOTE} mms apk will still force close there is no way around this no cell signal and sprint service files are not present is the cause
Ubersonic RC3 Google Voice fix
Here's how I got Google Voice working on this rom:
1.) Download Ubersonic Rom and copy zip to desktop.
2.) Download Ace ICS v2 rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777815 and put on desktop
3.) Download 4.0.4 Gapps package 20120429 from http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps# and put on desktop
4.) Using Winrar (associated with .zip files) open all three zips and place so you can access each one.
5.) Select the following apk's from the Ace Rom App folder and drag into the Ubersonic Rom App folder:
Contacts.apk
ContactsProvider.apk
MMS.apk
TelephonyProvider.apk
VoiceDialer.apk
VPNDialog.apk
6.) Select the following apk's from the Gapps App folder and drag into the Ubersonic Rom App folder:
ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleTTS.apk
Talk.apk
7.) Copy the Ubersonic Rom to your SD card and flash as usual. If all goes as it did for me, Google voice should run without crashing. Now all you have to do is install your preferred app to make and receive free Wifi calls and texts. (GrooVe IP, TalkaTone etc.)
I really love the concept of this rom. It resurrected my retired HTC EVO 4G and gave it a second life. I did add a few apps from the PlayStore to it to make it a little better (in my opinion) which I'll list for you in case any of you are interested.
Holo JB HD launcher
Union Apex/Nova Theme
APW
Holo APW Theme
Groove IP
Antek Quick Settings
Ad Blocking host file - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098
Poweramp
MX Player
Simple MP3
Tubemate
All-In-One Toolbox
My son added DeadTrigger 2 (game) and I added HBOGo and MaxGo which worked flawlessly. I also tried to get the BHTV app working but got an error message when loading any channel. Apparently, the BHTV app has a problem working on CM9 based roms which I believe this rom is. Still, all in all, what was once a phone collecting dust in my drawer has become a feature rich media device that my son now uses for fun and to make free calls and texts over wifi with. Sweeeeet!! Well, hope I helped you guys out. PM me if I can help you with anything related to what I've said here. Peace!!
I made the mistake of overwriting the AT&T visual voicemail app with a themed version that somebody built that does not play friendly with the Note 5. Anyone have the apk for the native app? Thanks!

You can't overwrite it. Just uninstall the update. Give me a minute and I'll edit this to give details.
Settings, device page, Applications, Application manager, swipe to the "all" area, scroll wayyyyyy down to "visual voicemail" and tap that, and then "uninstall updates" near the top.

Thanks - I would have never thought to do that. It worked.
Another issue, but this is AT&T. Ever since I upgraded from Note 4 to Note 5, I lost the voicemail-to-text feature in the app. I just noticed it. The option isn't there in settings. I called AT&T, they flipped a switch on their end, told me to reboot the phone and the next time I opened the app and checked settings, voicemail-to-text would show up as a feature. It's still not there.
I'm going to call them back, but anyone know how to force that update? Maybe I should totally disable the app, reboot and then enable? Other than that, it might need a factory reset unless AT&T can push out that setting to my phone, but I don't think that's possible.
I think It's a different app. Search Google play for "at&t voicemail" and install the one by at&t...

You can't download the AT&T visual voicemail from the Play Store on the Note 5 - not compatible.
However, I was able to download it and side load install it. Then set it up, disable the built in visual voicemail and I now have text transcription working - I don't like the visual interface as much as the built in visual voicemail, but I'll take it just so I have text transcription working.
