Hey guys,
I made the switch a while from ics to jelly bean and noticed my google wallet will not work because my device is "unsupported" (this is because im rooted) Previously on ICS I was able to bypass this by hiding root with the Super SU app by chainfire. I noticed when I upgraded to Jelly Bean (AOKP) and try to hide the root, the wallet app still says im unsupported. I was just wondering if there was a way around this. I have the legitimate wallet app from the market which i downloaded via a work around found on this site a while back.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Just because it says unsupported doesn't mean it doesn't work. If something goes wrong or whatever Google is not obligated to help you. I have that same banner and wallet works just fine

First of all I want to say I love the signature. Now for a question, to confirm- just because I am rooted, and it says my device is unsupported doesnt mean it wont work. So if I were to hide SU<--( do I even need to do this?) then add a card to the app, go to a store, and try and use it the card will be processed and it should work fine?
Thanks for the quick reply!

you do not need to hide root or remove or anything.
just add the card and go to the store. assuming their card reader is setup, it will work fine.

I was reading the instructions about installing the Google Wallet apk and it says if in US just install apk.
I purchased a unlocked GSM GN so basically I would have to root instead of just installing apk, correct? I'm on TMOUS and 4.0.2 also.

I had to use the market enabler outside the us and had to be rooted. I think you should be fine without root since you are in the US, did you try to install the apk?

I'm not rooted and can't do a nandroid. Basically scared ****less of screwing up with no backup after reading this:
Troubleshooting
Secure Element not responding!
If you have a Nandroid backup of a version of Wallet that worked, try restoring to that. Otherwise, you're screwed unless you get a new device. The Secure Element in your phone has now locked you out.

So, no, I haven't installed the apk yet.
If you're in the US with the unlocked version, you should be able to just install the apk. I did it and got no errors or anything.
The only reason why you'd have to root or anything is if you're outside the US where Google Wallet isn't fully supported.
That troubleshooting is because people are regularly flashing ROMs over and over with Google Wallet on all of them, and they're not properly disabling/restoring each time they do so, so the secure element in the phone gets wacked out.

So I have no intent of installing any rooms or rooting for that matter. I would be fine than, right?
Thanks for the clarification, by the way.

Help plx
Bump, still having problems.
I've pulled and attached the apk file for the Orange Quick Tap application. Unfortunately, I've only been able to get it to install on Galaxy S3s. If anyone is skilled enough to get it to install on a Galaxy Nexus (I think there are device checks in the apk?), please have a go.
Almost 30 of you have downloaded this, yet not a single comment? Come on!
Hi,
I installed it on my htc one x but it needs a quicktap sim, I'm going to order one and let you guys know what it says
Can't seem to get it installed on my S3. Moved it to system/app changed permissions but wouldn't install. Rebooted and same story.
That helps. I think that suggests that this apk doesn't actually have a device check. The reason why it's not installing on my Galaxy Nexus is probably due to a missing dependency, which I believe to be the Open Mobile API.
The Open Mobile API is used by many manufacturers to enable the use of special SIM cards as an NFC secure element for payments and other things. Google have not included this API in stock Android, as they want to limit Nexus devices to just the embedded secure element. Compare that to the Galaxy S3, which is confirmed to be able to use the MicroSD, SIM and its embedded secure element.
To test this, could people with any stock software NFC-enabled Samsung (non-Nexus), HTC or Sony device try to install the apk? I'd expect it to install on any ISIS-certified phone for example. And then to confirm that the API is the issue, could someone who has installed an AOSP stock ROM (which shouldn't support the open mobile API) onto their GS3, One X or Xperia S try to install the Quick Tap apk? If I'm right, it won't install on those ROMs.

What ROM are you running on your S3?
Right rang up orange and they are not giving put nfc sim cards unless you are a new or upgrading costumer
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Installs fine on stock unbranded SIII.
When ran, says checking for services
Then says "Sorry, you need a quick tap sim card in order to use the quick tap wallet" with customer service numbers to call 150 PAYM/450 PAYG
Alright, thanks. Now we need someone with a STOCK (no TouchWiz) AOSP CUSTOM ROM, e.g. CM9/CM10 on a SIII, One X or Xperia S to see what happens.
Rooted HTC One X with ARHD. Installs with no issue but falls over at the Sim card required stage. I'm going to give Orange a call and see what they say.

Unfortunately ARHD is based on the stock HTC ROM. Does anyone have one of the phones I've listed above, but running CM9 or CM10?
I tried to install it on my rooted GNex with stock 4.1.1 JB.
Put it into the download folder then went to install it it and it just says "app not installed"
Can someone tell me why it wont install, what the problem is?
I am on Orange UK.

I've already explained why it won't install. Stock Android doesn't have some components that this application requires for communication with the SIM. Furthermore, it's very possible that this application will never work with the Galaxy Nexus, as Google might have physically removed the connection between the SIM and the NFC controller - forcing Nexus users to be limited to only Google Wallet. Many people don't realise that Google are actually quite anti-competitive.
Guess I better get a Galaxy S3 LTE then.
I have a nfc sim card from starhub. Dk if it will work

It won't install because it's a system app. Push it to /system/app instead.

That's not the issue. I've already mentioned twice that stock Android does not contain the dependencies that this application requires; that's why it won't install.

I don't have an S3, so I can't install this in the first place. Your signature lists you as owning an S3, so why don't you install it?
I got an HTC One X bootleg from China and the google play apk I installed does not work at all. I understand, I need to root it so I can install a modified version of google play. I've tried every way possible to root it using bin4ry, gingerbreak, doomlord and superoneclick to no avail.
All I wanted was to make google play work that's it. Is there anybody who can extend help? Thanks in advance...

Do you have your bootloader unlocked?
Do you have your Google account activated?
Are you 100% positive that your One X is genuine?
Which G Play are you trying to install? How re you trying to do that?
Please provide some additional info.

I don't know anything about bootloader. Sorry.
I do know I have a valid google account.
No, I was fully aware that my device is just a clone.
I downloaded the latest version of google play apk. I downloaded it to my sd card then installed it manually.
Hold volume down and power to get to bootloader. Take a pic of it, then select recovery, take a pic of that too.

It says Android 4.0.4 but the interface of the menu in settings looks like froyo..
Please study through this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825722
So ever since I flashed to 4.4.2 I lost my ability to use ISIS, I could always go back to 4.3 but i dont want to.
Is it gonna be possible to use ISIS again now that the S4 has been officially updated to 4.4.2?
And please dont say USE GOOGLE WALLET..
Google wallet doesnt give me cash back, 50% off discounts and such.. so yea.. just dont
Just realized that TMobile published the ISIS wallet app... Downloaded it and got "device is rooted - isis will not run" message.
There appears to be a way around this using xposed framework and an isis root bypass apk. Am trying that now...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425346
This worked for me but now I'm getting a message that my SIM card requires a Secure Element... I'll stop by a TMobile store and ask them about this later...
Edit - swapped SIM and it works. I don't have a compatible isis card test with but from here I'm sure you'd be good to go

Ive searched and found 2 solutions, first being use rootcloak, second being disable supersu in supersu settings. Unfourtunatly none of those work for me and i still get the "unable to verify android verson" error. Anyone have any success with another method? Im running viper 3.5.0

You might not be able to use Android Pay with a custom ROM.

It did work for me too, is annoying now , now the phone has to have a lock screen set up. Google Wallet had better . It does look better to the eye though
For now, there is no guaranteed way to maintain both root & use Android Pay. XDA featured an explanation on the portal that was offered by one of Google's security engineers. It's fairly straightforward, if disappointing for anyone who wants both.
Mine stop working after a day ,
I just uninstall it , I was happy cuz it was annoying having the screen lock with a pin or pattern

I do use it too . Ohh well
I like the new UI looked way more polished than wallet lol
no info/answer on this i have not tried android pay before but good to know all issues for when needed.
has anyone tried dirty flashing a stock rom setting up android pay then dirty flashing back to the wanted rom?
Hello
any 6.0 versions out there with integreated Android PAY ?
I get it to add cards by:
chmod 751 /su/bin
then
renaming xbin_bind folder
As far as working haven't tried it yet
what do you rename to the xbin_bind folder to? doesn't seem to be working for me

Anything but xbin_bind.
I'm wondering about this too. I guess in the meantime I could always get a contactless credit card and superglue it to the back of the phone. To emulate the NFC effect, I could just turn on the torch.
