Like the title says, i I should be picking up my note 2 from tmobile tonight!
I am currently on a Sensation 4g with Revolution HD rom, and love it.
Any apps and cool stuff i should look for or need to know? The big app im looking for is Sketchbook Pro and the photoshop app? How are they? Any other cool must have apps?
Any other stuff i need to know coming from a pretty bad ass unlocked sensation rom?
Good choice...and listen to what he said...you need a hard screen protector...thats the best I can describe it...like plastic not rubbery

Oh stop. So tired of this silly "it has gorilla glass and doesn't need a screen protector". Tell that to every person who took your advice and then scratches their screen. Did you know that the 2 in gorilla glass 2 means it's thinner, and not more scratch resistant? RESISTANT... not proof.
Back on topic, use ebay for case shopping. I have a bunch of cases I bought from there to try out, as many of them are 4-15 bucks and there's over 2000 listings for different ones.
Regarding apps, I would follow the directions here to root your phone. Only root it, don't go any further. Then buy a copy of titanium backup, back your phone up to your microsd card, and then freeze the bloat on your phone (all the fancy pink t-mobile apps, for example). You will need to root your phone to do this, as well as other neat tricks like using NFC tags to turn on and off your GPS (not needed for bluetooth or wifi automation tho, *shrug*).
Foxfi works for me, post root, but doesn't for others. I wield no extraordinary magical powers... so I can't explain why it's working, but it is. (for tethering your data connection)
Games wise, Star Wars Angry Birds! LoL!
Don't ever buy screen protectors, takes all the good feeling away... ^_^ no really it's fine. (never used screen protector for my last 4 smart phones and never had ANY issues.)
Enjoy your new phone!

I bet they didnt share pocket space with some macro particles of silica. Otherwise youd be on here complaining about how samsung makes such terrible phones.

I agree, coldfustion's review of the Note 2 gave me a ton of ideas on how to setup the phone to really be customized. I stole a lot of his ideas and, to be honest, I don't even notice any touchwize anymore. Well worth sitting thru his 18 min video, and the follow-on how-to.
If you plan to root it then make sure the first thing you do is to back up your EFS partition. It carries your imei info. If you corrupt or delete that by mistake without having a backup, it will be nothing more than a paper weight.

Is it too late to back it up if I didn't do that before rooting? I am currently stock tmo rooted. Thanks!

I backed up the entire phone beforehand (to my microsd... dont' make the same mistake I made the first time!). You should be able to back it up now if everything is in order. It's when the IMEI is set to zero and your phone doesn't connect to your provider that you need to worry.

Disclaimer: Sorry for another screen protector thread but I'm sure this will help others out beside myself and I haven't seen any threads on this topic specifically.
Now for the issue. I'm currently coming from an Evo3d wrapped in an Otterbox Defender with a built in screen protector. While the screen protector is fine for normal phone use it sucks for gaming. For example games such as 9mm, Deadspace, Max Payne or any other games with virtual joysticks become unplayable. Basically the screen protector just seemed to take way too much sensitivity I think. I know it wasn't
my Evo3d because games played just fine if I took case with protector off.
So can anyone suggest a screen protector that works with gaming that they're using?

I haven't put a screen protecter on my Galaxy S3, but on my 4S I had the same problem so I switched to an HD Invisibleshield. It makes it perfect for games and I haven't had a single problem. I would highly recommend that.

Yea I def want screen protector. I had one on original Evo but got lazy on Evo3d thinking that because I'm so careful I wouldn't scratch screen. I was wrong. I didn't wind up with anything major but did get a very tiny scratch that's only visible with the screen off. I quickly learned after that.
But hey, to each his own is a good cliche here.

Howdy dudes and hoes.
Is there any screen protectors that doesn't effect the s-pen input that much? I would like a screen protector, but i don't want my screen to feel like a touchscreen phone from 2007 If that's the case, i'm better of without one.
Well I like invisible shield by zagg 25 year guarantee, strange to begin with but works great with the pen had mine about a month and still looks good
I'm using the Martin Fields one. The protector is unnoticeable (if applied correctly) and the S-pen works really well. It's also highly resistant.
Well, here's the list of screen protectors I used so far :
-original Samsung;
-Cellularline anti-glare;
-3M Vikuiti.
I'm using the 3M for the moment... did spend about three times as much as on a Cellularline one, but oh well... I thought what the hell, everyone's talking about 3M Vikuiti and how good their screen protectors are... Well, IT SUCKS. Grease getting on the screen shield == funny rainbow colors if you look at it from any other angle than 90 degrees . Also, the "spot" is noticeable... the edges are untouched, but more to the middle of the screen, this sort of like grease splotch appears...
I'm going with MOMAX next time. They and Guardline always pleased me. In fact, everyone did... but 3M deserves a hanging.
-----
But as far as I know, no screen protector will impair your ability to use the S Pen. Hell, wrap your S Pen in a screen cleaning cloth... wrap it in five such cloths... then see if it works. I'm telling you : mine did work .

We don't have ZAGG here. The only place I saw them is iStyle, where specific case manufacturers include a ZAGG shield in their packages. At least, I saw one ZAGG shield in a case for the iPod Nano (yeah, that little yet expensive watch that can play music).
I've heard good & bad things about ZAGG... They stretch and revert to their original form (don't know how that is useful)... They tend to turn yellow/blue because over time... Oh well... I'm good with what we do have available here.
I'm curious about the warranty thing, though. Those ZAGG shields from the case I talked about above... the package said you've got life warranty, so you can always go to their store and ask for a replacement if your shield broke/got cut or anything... Their HQ = NOT IN ROMANIA, haha.
-----
For the record, I didn't buy that iPod Nano case to see the ZAGG shield inside. A friend of mine did... just because they were on super-mega-extra promotions, so he could sell them at 15x the price later .

There is, I guess. But it's got drawings on it, so you can't miss it if there is one. Dunno... check unboxing videos on YouTube. I forgot if there is one , but if there it, you just can't miss it, drawings or not (it's probably gonna stick out on one corner or peel itself off if you put your phone in the pocket for multiple times).

That's not true.
The day I got my previous phone (Galaxy Nexus), I didn't throw a screen protector on it. I was gonna do that the day after, and until then, I treated the phone like it was king (kindly placed it down on a pillow or something soft). The next morning : huge scratch on the glass, thank God it was BELOW the screen.
Also, the phone I had before the Nexus : Galaxy S2. Somehow, two dots got "scratched onto" the screen. Like the glass got hit by keys or something. Same thing happened to the Desire...
So, better use a screen protector than to quietly weep later .

These screens are not bullet proof, they're just really hard, and follow very basic laws of nature, ie. Material A will scratch Material B, if Material A is harder. So, never take your phone to the beach either as the miniscule pieces of quartz in the sand will lay waste to your phone too.
I agree, absolutely stupid and not something I normally do. But its just strange to me that three keys, none of which are particularly sharp scratched the screen in the 15 to 20 minutes they were in my pocket with the phone. My previous phone (Galaxy S2) was pretty well abused over the time I had it, and it still does not have a single scratch on the screen.
Just seems odd to me. And wanted this to be a warning to others that the screens are not as hard as we might otherwise think.

It's your own fault dude. Gorilla glass never claimed to be scratch proof, its is more flexible than regular glass and stronger. I for one, always put a high end screen protector before I even turn device on. I call it "insurance".

No need to fault anyone. The individual already knowledge fault. You like some people I know in my life. Rip a hole into the person even after they ripped a hole into themselves. Doing nothing more than being annoying.
Gorilla glass is scratch resistant. Which is why manufacturers use Gorilla glass. And why some people think of it as "bullet proof". Of course it is not "bullet proof" or scratch proof. Nothing better educator than experience.

What are we going to do with you. You are in this: "Everyone at fault for devices costing higher and insurance costing higher" thing.
It is up to the store, in the mall, that chooses to take it back or not. Not that many get returned or exchanged in the grace time. And with the price deals that T-Mobile get they can afford it without spreading the cost to us.
The insurance thing is a different story from this grace time. Still $130 to $175 to replace a $699 device is a deal for the customers. Which means that the insurance business is still make very good profit. If it is worth it to you all depends on when the device is damaged/stolen or when you are planning to get another device. Saying to people not to return to repair or get replacement (after the grace time period) is like telling people to not go to the hospital because that will make your insurance higher. People should be able to go to the hospital even if they caused the problem. That is the price you pay in getting insurance yourself. This is the same with Cellular device insurance. If don't like this then don't have insurance and pay full price for each and every device. Then, for right or wrong, others are not effecting you.
When it comes to T-Mobile at 2013 on charging full price for devices: That has nothing to do with users "abusing" the system. T-Mobile is taking out the cost of the device from the monthly rates. So after spending $699 for a device you will get a lower cost monthly rate. And at the end save around $200 within two years of using that one device on the value plan. So stop blaming others for T-Mobile changing their business methods.
Of course you going to rip me a new one on this. I can hear now.
-
Quick question in the insurance, let's say i lost my phone, when I pay the 130 or 175 and I get the new phone, do I still have the same phone number or I get a new number?

A lot of people had issues with that cover scratching the back of their phone, maybe they changed the desing a li'l bit to fix this. I Have it and my phone is scratch free. Lucky Me I guess????
Ive had issue with those stains too, what pissed me off is this case also made a faint scratch on the top right body part (near front camera lens). Anyway, anybody have ideas on how to remove this scratch mark??
Yes, I've tried to erase it. Won't come off. Also tried soap and water, alcohol... no results. This is frustrating, my phone looks so old.
I've noticed it is not compatible with skins or more importantly (and practical), screen protectors.
It only works with screen protectors if you cut them which is pretty hard to do. I stopped using mine because of this..

IMO Gorilla Glass is quite reliable, so I'd rather protect the body (which dents/scratches fairly easily) than the screen.
Also got the "Double Dip" case. Mine is exactly.. 2 days old and i already got alot of stains on top.
Tried everything to remove it, alcohol, industrial grade stain remover. nothing, i havent got the scratch problem but who knows that might turn up sooner or later....
Will resort into buying another TPU case or something, this is kinda frustrating none the less...

Better to have denim stains on your case than on your phone like I have. Using an eraser helped but didn't completely fix it.

I have stains on mine too. So frieking annoying. The phone looks dirty.
And btw.. The phone doesn't stain taking in and out of denims for me... I've tried without a case.. Only the case stains.

Yes, I've tried to erase it. Won't come off. Also tried soap and water, alcohol... no results. This is frustrating, my phone looks so old.

Try diluted chlorine bleach
CC
Youtube retrobright. One part H2O2, One part Oxyclean, and a bit of starch. Expose to UV rays, boom. They use that stuff to clean sneakers and old video game consoles.
This hurt, I'll try and post pictures but I managed to crack my Note 7 last night. Stopped at the bank jumped out of my truck and forgot it was on my lap. Took a plunge hit my step on my truck and then face down to the asphalt. Cracked left of the home button, doesn't seem bad and I could live with it but it's a new phone. Filed a claim already $200 later a phones on its way and should be here sometime Monday. Phones only about a week old, so much for this new gorilla glass but then again it was a pretty nasty fall. Anyhow just thought I would share with you guys.
Damn, that sux brother good thing you have insurance. I Cant ell you how many phones I've broken because I forgot it was in my lap. That's why I bought one of those magnetic car mounts and made it a habbit to always put my phone on there. Maybe you should consider something like that.

I'm glad you said that, there is actually one that I've been looking at and I think this whole situation is gonna make me get it. Waiting for the OtterBox defender too. Sometimes having the newest stuff sucks because there isn't much out lol.

Have you ever tried amzreviewtrader.com before. I already have 3 cases that i got for free and couple of tempered glass screen protectors, a few different regular screen protectors and like 4 car mounts all for free or dirt cheap. All had to do was leave a real review. Try it it's dope.

So, all you're obligated to do is leave a review on Amazon, nothing else? Are there timelines to have reviews in by? No hidden fees, this is totally free?

Any of those tempered glass protectors actually fit nice? I wouldn't mind trying one, just trying to figure out which one.

I have tried 2 of them. They fit nice but did not stay that way. After about 2 days the edges lifted and dust got trapped. I trashed them both.
There is a review a guy posted on youtube with his note in the sand and ocean .. no scratches, no issues.
I'm gonna go with just a case.

Yes there is a time line In which you have to get the review done, 10 days upon receiving the product. But there are no hidden fees it's totally free. The only catch is that sellers are looking for people with high stats. So before you sign up I recommend going to you Amazon profile and write up a bio for yourself. And either delete reviews that are really short or rewrite them before uploading you Amazon profile url to the site. Most sellers are looking for reliable reviewers so at first you might not get approved for things but once you getvthe ball rolling and your average word count goes up you'll start gettig all sorts of crap that you don't need haha

Yeah over 250 word count, got them drooling over your word count! Now you rule with an iron fist and call the shots lol
Here's the damage, got my phone yesterday and surprisingly I got sent a brand new unit sealed and all so I was quite happy about that. Of course my case (Spigen) for now came in as well haha. Put it on the new device right away. Also now have to figure out what to spend my Samsung pay money on since I found out I can't transfer that
All in all the phone took the plunge pretty well now that I think about it and think about how high my truck sits. Still sucks I had to shell out the extra money though.
