Search is down so I can't tell if this was posted to another thread, and I am new so I can't post directly in the "[ROM] AOKP(Jellybean 4.1.2)Task & Ktoonsez (11/12) (AT&T/Rogers)" thread..
A few of us were having issues receiving text pictures (MMS), even though we could send them. I was able to fix it for myself, the issue is the phone number isn't set for the phone:
- Go to Phone - settings
- Tap Additional settings
- Tap "My Phone Number"
- Set your phone number in the format +1-212-555-1212 (Country code, full phone number)
- Tap OK
- You should now be able to receive MMS.
Thanks

EDIT* It just says downloading forever. When I first changed it I was given an option to DL it, but now its stuck.
EDIT2* Turned-off auto-retrieve, now working.
What I did to fix this download issue (my phone number was already setup properly)
1. In the text client go into the settings and make sure all the boxes to auto retrieve texts are checked especially the retrieve while roaming.
2. In the apn's in the Wap.Cingular one delete default from apn type (make sure to save)
3. Under the Pta apn add hipri to the list in apn type.
4. Have friends send you mms text to test. You shouldn't be getting anymore text lost in the matrix.
Since I did this I've had no trouble getting mms.

Unbelievable... Have you heard of GOOGLE!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-298609.html
Just to look at two...
yes ive heard of google and i woulnt have posted here unless i already tryed that. so i figured out i can end mms but cant receive
I wonder what you typed in the search box then.
First, set up the MMS connection:
Select Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Connections
Then select the Advanced Tab -> Select Networks -> New
Enter "Rogers MMS" (or some other name), then head to the Modem Tab and hit New again.
Enter "MMS" (or whatever you want, again), select Cellular Line (GPRS) (not just Cellular Line). Enter "media.com" as the APN.
The User Name is "media", the password is "mda01". Hit Finish.
Now, to set up the messaging app:
Open Messaging (I have it mapped to the default hard key) -> Menu -> Tools -> Options.
Tap on the existing MMS account (if you don't have one, you need to install the MMS app) to edit it, and make sure that the following options are set:
Retrieve messages immediately is checked
Attempts before giving up is 2
Photo resolution is QVGA (320x240).
Head over to the Servers tab and edit the existing entry (if there is one) or create a new one. Enter the following settings:
Server name: Rogers MMS (this one's up to you)
Gateway: 172.25.0.107
Port number: 8080
Server address: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
Connect via: Rogers MMS
Sending size limitation: 250K
WAP Version: WAP 2.0

It don't matter what version of WinMo you are running because what count are the IP number and all. You would use the same codes with a V3.

thanks youve been quite helpful. I did everying it said and i can still only send them and not receive them it says message to be downloaded has expired or the screen will light up and nuthing will heppen.
Try to also check the other settings for say how much you set to download, from who and so fourth.
MMS do expire after a while if the person you sent it to can't view them.
If it lights up and does nothing, it could be that it is trying to send it again, or is trying to receive or sending out again and managed to do so.
well the max size i can make my message size to is 100 not 200 mabe thats got something to do about it. also when i hit send/recaive its just says errror syncronizing.

Every body gets the error when pressing send\recieve as the service is automatic there is no need to ever press that.
same here..
Mine is doing the same thing..Tmobile..reflashed last night to Kavana, manually put in all settings (mms / proxy). Phone sends MMS fine but will not receive them. Phone lights up when receiving MMS but never comes through. I will manually send/receive, and occasionally I see the envelope flash up with the down arrow, but it usually does nothing after that point...
I am also getting an 'Info' alert - Unable to receive your message(s). Your message(s) notification(s) will remain in your Inbox. - Press OK.
Hope I am not hijacking your thread, just sounds like we are having very similar issues.
yeah its seems like were just missing something small
I have the t-mobile pro 2 (US) and I finally updated my phone to "RUU_Rhodium_HTC_Europe_1.19.401.0_Radio_Rhodium_3.44.25.27_Signed_Ship" and the phoneworks great all features are performing as they should except MMS. My phone will not send any mms messages even though the settings look correct. All settinghave been changedto the t-mo settings, and internet, sms, all work.
Any ideas or has anyone had this issue and been able to solve?
I checked online and verified the settings are correct. When the rom updated it also update the radio. Could that affect MMS on t-mo US?
I am having the same problem on my phone if you figure something out please post it. Thanks
same issues, correct settings - using EnergyROM 3.0
I think i have figured it out it works for me atleast tmous rhodium flashed rom to 1.19.401.1wwe. Go to settings-connections-connections-advanced-select networks(programs that automatically connect to private network should connect using: select T-Mobile MMS)- edit-edit(T-Mobile MMS)-next-change access point name to (wap.voicestream.com)-next-finish.
Next go to txt msg's select all messages, then menu scroll down to mms options select it go to servers tap on T-Mobile MMS check connect via is on T-Mobile MMS done, and you should have it working.
I received an e-mail from a friend. He sent me the link to this post from Wiki_EnergyROM.
here is the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4422331&postcount=6
I have tested it out and it works perfect.
Thanks Wiki_EnergyROM!
Hey, so I did the Simple OTA Root then followed that with the stock root by whiteslack. Everything is working perfectly fine but I cannot receive any MMS/Picture mail. I can send MMS out however. I always get a message saying downloading....
Is there something that breaks this in that root? Or is there an apk available to re enable mms downloading..? Under my settings for messaging/connection settings my MMS proxy says not set and MMS port says not set also..
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated
BUMP this up top please
Just some very general help here.
First, are you running a custom rom or a stock rooted?
Second, try a PRL and Profile update from: Menu-Settings-System Updates, then choose Update profile and Update PRL
Third, Go to your messaging app (if you are using stock) go to: Menu-Settings, and make sure that auto-retrieve is selected. Also on this screen, Select: Connection Settings. and see what it says under MMSC
I am running the Stock Rooted 1.47.651.1
I just did the PRL and the Profile update
Under connection settings I have
Name - Production
MMSC - http://mms.sprintpcs.com
MMS Proxy - (not set)
MMS Port - (not set)
MMS Protocol - WAP 2.0
and auto retrieve is checked
Still getting same download error but I can send just fine
Turn off wifi.
Why do you think Wifi would affect that? I am turning it off tho and then updating PRL and Profile again
Then again I was able to get a MMS as a slide show from a contact I have that is connected or linked to facebook..testing something now
Ok Weird so I took a phone and sent a MMS to my google number and got the pic/slideshow
let me try to turn of google voice and see what happens
WIFI does not support MMS, you need to be on 3g or 4g for MMS.
Google voice does not support MMS either.
Very True, but Wifi also does not support SMS either but regardless even with Wifi on, the phone should know. But the issue is happening with Wifi off, I work at Apple and support iPhones so I know how to troubleshoot but I swear I took an iPhone 4 and text a MMS to my phone number and got the error downloading, then I text an MMS to my google number and got the picture.....turning off google voice now
Were you holding the iPhone 4 in the lower left hand corner?
Grab some duct tape.......
Google only supports text, no SMS or MMS. That is why many people have not 100% transitioned to Google Voice.
HAHHAHAHAHAH!!! Hey I said I work their and support but I do have an EVO!! lolol Not iPhone
Glad you saw the humor and didn't take offense.
Using the stock messenger, if you text a picture to your phone number, you should receive it without issue.
I have never been able to receive MMS or SMS through my google number.
If I turn on wifi, and try to send myself a picture, it doesn't receive the picture until I turn off wifi.
In the standard messaging app, there is a setting for Auto-Retrieve under MMS. Make sure that is on.
Resolved the issue. I turned off Google voice and I started getting my photos .. weird
Newly now all are coming in as slideshows.... normal? So if someone sends an emotion then I actually have to hit play..
Evo 4G
Last week, my Nexus S bricked up on me, so I sent it off for repair and got a shiny new Galaxy S2 (T989D, from Koodo.)
I can't really afford a data plan in addition to cell and texting service, so on my Nexus (even with ICS installed) I edited my APN type to only include mms (I think the two I got rid of were "default" for internet, and "supl" which I think was for GPS or some such.)
However, on my S2, when I try to edit the APN settings, I cannot change the default APN for some reason. I can however add a new APN, but when doing so, I have 3 options for APN type, "Internet + MMS," "Internet," and "MMS." When selecting the first two, everything works fine, and I can select my custom APN information.
However, when choosing "MMS" by itself to prevent data charges, I save the APN, and when I try to select it, there is no ability to do so. I can't link a screenshot, but I attached one that demonstrates what I'm talking about. The two Internet APNs can be selected, but the MMS ones have no selection circle (finding this image makes me feel like I'm missing something.)
Next to any APN I set to MMS only, regardless of any other information in any other field, there is no selection circle. All I have to do to get one is set the APN type to "Internet + MMS" or "Internet," and it will appear and I can select it as normal. If it matters, I have root access.
Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, or if this is a common question. I've searched all over the internet, tried many different strings in this specific forum, and given a quick search in the T989 development forum, to no avail. I'm going to call my provider (Koodo) tomorrow, but I figure they'll just act dumb if they aren't. I'd really like to be able to send picture messages but cannot afford a data connection, so any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I think this would be better off in the Q&A forum, apologies if so, I cannot see a way to send it there now.
I have the same problem with my Nexus S. It almost seems as they don't want us using just MMS alone. For example you can't change APN settings programmatically with ICS and it doesn't seem to allow an APN type of MMS only!?
Wait I think I just figured it out! Yeah!
I had in the APN type just mms but when I put mms, (comma) it gave the the option to choose it!
Hey all,
I have had CM installed for a while now on my Australian E975K (currently on 10.1.2).
I have never been able to send or receive MMS, and it's really starting to bug me.
I believe that my APNs are 100% correct, confirmed by my network provider (Vaya, who use Optus APNs). I have two, an internet one, and an MMS one. The blue radio button next to the internet one is highlighted.
I can take screenshots of the settings if needed, but as I said I have triple checked that they are correct.
When I try and send an MMS (through the default Messaging app), it hands on "Sending". The network status indicator will flash, and if I go to Status in System settings, I can see that it is switching constantly between "LTE" and "Unknown". It will stay like this until I Delete the MMS I am attempting to send, and reboot the phone.
MMS worked fine on stock.
Any ideas?

I've been searching for a solution to this for some time. There does not seem to be a fix as such, but there is a work around.
Here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36511884&postcount=14
As far as I can tell the reason is that ASOP roms do not have an option for WAP 2.0 (which is what Optus use) only IPv4 & IPv6.
Essentially you remove "mms" from the "type" in the MMS APN. Then you can actually select the MMS APN. Now you need to manually swap APNs whenever you want to use DATA or MMS. Annoying, but it works for me anyway...
