XDA Advanced Search / Participated Threads - About xda-developers.com

XDA Advanced Search (the one for which you click the little gears icon) and related functionality like "find posts by user" and "my participated threads" is offline while we rebuild the cache for the search indexes. They appear to have become corrupted so we are rebuilding them, and these features will remain offline until that has been completed. I would estimate they will be completed in about 10 hours, or midnight UTC.
Apologies for the inconvenience, this happens occasionally and the only way to repair them is to do a rebuild.

I think there are still problems with the cache or something like that?!
All automatic created Links don't work.
For example when I want to look for the originale Thread, somebody quoted, I click on the arrow in the Quote-Box but come to a different page in this Thread.
When I use the search inside a Thread and clicks on a post it is the same way.
In this way the Thread-Search seems very useless to me.

Sorry about that bug, everyone.

Xda premium app update.

Ruining the xda app in my phone and can't find the glacier or dream thread anymore after doing the update. They are still in favorites but blank any help would be great.

Have you tried that?

It seems this update wont allow you to add sub-forums as favourites
Oh well lol ....
I'm sure they'll fix it at some point.

Favorites are listed in both the premium and free version of the XDA App, but no forum posts, listings, or content when a favorite is selected. Please fix.

Same issues, no posts and wouldn't load unless uninstalled through settings-applications. Then reinstalled and it works, pain to have to readd favorites though.

The new update to the premium app is terrible. It's so bad I reverted to a copy of the free app even though I paid for (and prefer) the premium one. It's not right that they just leave it like that.

What's so bad about it?
The only problem I really have with the update is that now, pictures aren't displayed full-screen. It was annoying before when a resized picture would be really blurry, but now I can't see any pictures, and that's much more irritating. They're way too small now. It's just a thumbnail, basically, and it makes screenshot threads completely infuriating.
Oh, another thing, with the notifications for subscribed threads, it will only notify me after the first check, and not on subsequent checks, if it's making subsequent checks. For instance, say I get a notification that 2 subscribed threads are updated. The notification will say that there are 2 subscribed threads. Now, say it's 30 minutes later (or more; I just used 30 since that's how often I set the app to check) and there are 2 more subscribed threads. Instead of updating the notification to 4 updated threads, it still says 2 even though I never cleared it the first time. For a real-world example, I went to bed yesterday and woke up with a notification for 2 updated threads, but when I opened the app, there were 6 or 7 updated threads. These were all updated within a period of 12 hours, and my XDA app is set to check every 30 minutes. For some reason, after the initial check where it found the updates, it never checked again, or if it did check, it didn't update the notification.
I hope this is a clear enough description. It sounds kind of confusing to me, but I can't think of a better way to explain it.

I was getting nothing but empty screens in every section, not just the favorites section. It took three uninstall/reinstall cycles to get it functioning again. It still doesn't show favorites but I can live with that (for awhile) but the whole empty app thing was disaapointing
Also had problems with blank screens in favorites and couldn't add a xda premium app shortcut to my home screen anymore.
After a long press on the home screen and selecting it from the shortcut list I got a white screen.
After uninstalling and re-installing it still won't generate a shortcut, but launch the app instead when going through the steps above.
The only way to add it as a shortcut was to long press it from the app drawer.
Delete reinstall works great.

Please fix premium app!!!! Cant open app from app drawer! Favorites won't stick...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
+1 on the favorites issue after update. I delete and readd them then old ones sometimes reappear, requiring another removal, but without fail the newly added favorites will always show empty subforums at some point.
Keep having to revert to an old backup of XDA app if I "update all" from the market.
Same issue here with the favourite forums being empty. Can't even delete them. Well, you can, but they come back when you refresh. I deleted them and re-added them and it worked, but after a restart I was back to blank favourite forums again.
PLEASE, if the devs see this, let us know what's gonna happen.
Thanks

Account not adding subscribed threads

I don't know if this is a problem with the xda app or not. But when I reply to a post or even create one I am not being automatically subscribed to it.
Could a mod or admin of some sorts check out my account. Or have I done something incorrectly.
Thanks guys.

I +1 the op...
Even if I reply to posts on the site, I don't get auto-subscribed...
I have to manually subscribe each post from the app...
And I checked the options yesterday...everything seems to be in place...
(Even I was about to make a thread )
Typed using a small touchscreen
If you set the default subscription setting under Edit Options to something other than Do Not Subscribe then autosubscribe during reply or new thread creation should work.

That's the weird part...
After I had setup weekly notifs, I hadn't touched it since...
But from the last week, all of a sudden, I don't get auto-subscribed...
When I (re)checked the option, it still is set to weekly notifs...I toggled it to "no notifs" and back again, but still no solution...

Thanks. Glad I'm not alone here. Nothing has been changed in settings from me.
Maybe it has something to do with the new XDA 2013 theme?

I'm assuming this is related to app development?
I think you'd get a better response in the general Q&A forum mate.

I was just about to post a new thread about this. Subscribed threads have always worked for me. I never use the website, always the app. Since like last week, it stopped subscribing me. Someone, fix this!

This happens on my account, ever since I got it (which was a few weeks ago). It does not auto-subscribe to threads I reply to nor to threads I create; and, yes, in the options, it is set to "weekly notifications."
And, when I do subscribe to threads, it does not respect my notification type (instant, daily, weekly). I have it set to weekly, but my Gmail account is getting spammed every day dozens of times (popular thread, haha).
~Ibrahim~
I gave up on it for now and I just use the XDA app with Latest, Participated to see every thread I have been on. I don't have any threads where I just read and never replied once so I don't miss anything this way.

Oh, that's nifty; I hadn't seen that on the app! Thanks!
--UPDATE--
Well, I think it's actually working now. I'm subscribed to this thread and a new one I just made, without doing it manually. Oh, and I realized why it wasn't respecting the notifications: just setting it to "Weekly" in options only do so for new threads, not old ones. Now I changed them all to weekly, *fingers crossed*!

Bugged Site [RESOLVED]

This should be in About xda forum really, but a mod will move it across anyway.
I had a partial problem like this earlier, but mine just wasn't showing the images for buttons.
It shown the Thanks button okay, but the reply, multi-quote, edit etc. were just showing as writing with no image there.
That was happening on Opera Mini so I switched to Chrome and it was working fine again.

XDA Advanced Search is Offline For Maintenance (XDA app "participated threads" too)

XDA Advanced Search is Offline For Maintenance (XDA app "participated threads" too)
The XDA search server crashed this morning. Upon investigation, I found some filesystem errors on the server. It is running an Adaptec RAID controller with mirrored drives so it is very unlikely that there is actually a drive problem or any data loss. Rebooting the server and checking each drive status confirms this. At this point since this is the first time this error has happened on the server, I am inclined to believe this is more of a kernel bug problem rather than an actual drive issue.
However, this error resulted in a corrupted search index and therefore we are required to rebuild them which takes a few hours to do. While this is happening, "Advanced search" on the website will be offline, as well as the functions in the XDA App such as "Participated threads." Apologies for the inconvenience. I'll update this thread once search is back online.
Search is back up... nothing to see here...

Bump... i guess search is down due to reindexing?
As search is down again.. may be people can read this thread.. or ask here instead of new thread..

Yup, server is actually offline completely, the hosting company is checking the hardware and will likely require a reindexing when it comes back up.
